Quote:I am, in every way, clinically, an introvert. I always have been. Even by the definitions you have been throwing around, I am in introvert. Our brains don't give us the same charge from excitement and thrill that yours do. We're different. You really need to get used to it.
You are using introversion like weapon against game changes that have nothing to do with it.
Don't like teaming, fine. Don't like TF's, fine. Don't like gated content, fine. Argue against those things all you like.
Being introverted has nothing to do with that.
I have notices on multiple characters, all from PUG's and I am introverted.
While I will readily concede that there are people who, because of brain chemistry, CANNOT team, for any reason, labeling that small minority people as simply introverted is doing pretty much everyone involved a dis-service. -

Quote:I am not, in any way, opposed to solo ways to get Incarnate loot. The soloist have valid points. Recently, I played solo with my new earth dom on Union. Doing solo I gained this:
1. More control - I could play when I wanted.
2. Easier missions - The spawns are less. It will be easier to Alpha than with teams.
Who won't want to be able to do the Alpha TFs in this fashion? I'd like to see it now.
I am, however, opposed to the rampant misinformed, inflammatory complaining about the conclusion that since there is no way to do it NOW, there never will be.
I, personally, cannot stand the fearful outlook that often propagates these sorts of things.
Willfully spreading misinformation is, IMO, one of the lowest things a person can do. -
Quote:Some of us are simply extremely opposed to reading the endless complaining about there being no solo way to get the NoTW right NOW and extrapolating that means there never will be, then using that UNPROVABLE outlook to say the devs have forsaken the solo players. All I want is for the Devs to give us options. That's it, just options. Some people are extremely opposed to that though. It's amazing to me how determined to deny things to others people have become these days.
In turn, this leaves the possibility of turning off current and potential players, using UNPROVABLE MISINFORMATION, which I, personally, find more annoying than anything the devs could ever add to the game.

Quote:Ah, I am sorry that bug and broom handle got stuck up there...Devs need a raise? Did I read that? It's their fault we had downtime and you want to reward them for it? More ski time? How about extending double xp weekend or something else the bulk of the players can use. As opposed to the 20 or 30 lemmings commending you for throwing the equivalent of table scraps to them.

Quote:Do you have any clue as to how condescending that sounds?I have toons I haven't played in years and yet I still didn't forget their primary/secondary, even ones that didn't go beyond level 10. If you have a character and you can't even remember its primary/secondary, it's probably not worth keeping.
Some people don't remember details. Some do.
This is a very valid, probably low cost, QoL feature to be requested.
Yet, the OP is basically told (by some) that since others have such sterling memory abilities such a thing is not needed, to the point of calling the OP characters worthless.
Man, I just love gamers. -
Quote:Have fun crying in your milk.I didn't say it's just about incarnate. But it is about incarnate. It was released as part of the i19.5 Strike Pack, which only consisted of new incarnate stuff, and the WST, which is required for the new incarnate stuff. They also didn't decide to come out with the WST system to guide people toward TFs for rewards until just now -- with incarnate. Obviously there are other rewards for people who aren't incarnates as a bonus, but that's not the reason it was put in.
Really, the real reason it was put in was to keep people busy enough without getting bored. Having enough to do without grinding the same two task forces over and over to get stuff, because they can't generate gigantic amounts of incarnate content that quickly. The idea to steer people toward other task forces is a good idea, I just strongly disagree with how they actually implemented it and what they're trying to do now.
The incarnate system is akin to actually level advancement. They're pushing us toward things that don't even utilize the incarnate bonuses we're working toward getting or have already earned, and TFs that don't even drop incarnate shards or components (other than the Notice itself). To me this is on the same level as freezing your exp gain at level 25 until you log two hours in a PvP zone and kill people. But don't worry, if you don't want to PvP you can just stop playing that character until next week (that is, unless we decide to require PvP next week too). -

Quote:And people think I post rude comments....Frankly, unless you have multiple full servers, I don't see the need. How can you not remember what they are, by the names alone?
Did you give generic names to all your characters?
Do you not play them?
I know each of my characters powersets by the name alone--and that's not to say that I name them specifically according to their powersets, but that each one is memorable. Different costumes help as well.
If knowing the name and AT doesn't give you enough info...perhaps you should delete the character? I don't imagine you play it all that much. -
My wife offered to help me pass the time....
I of course I accepted.
And made a few posts that ticked a few people off.
Pretty much the usual for me. -

Quote:Completely serious. I am very glad you were able to find a good outcome for your misgivings about the new system.Again, I'm having a hard time discerning sarcasm from actual intent.
Can I get clarification? :P
As for a couple of the other replies to my post, I simply stated a couple of my opinions. If my expressing my opinions ruffles feathers, oh well.
I do not recall saying anything about anyones opinions being wrong in my post here. I think I said those opinions sounded like something a martyr would say and I made a reference to the maturity level of posters who would continue to use WTF instead of WST.
I live in the same world as the rest of the posters here. I simply have no issue with being blunt with my opinions.
If that colors me in a light that anyone does not like, oh well. I don't care what people think about me in the real world. Why on earth would I care about what some random folks on a gaming message board think of me? -
Wow it finally hit me.
Martyrs.
That's what all of these constant 'opinions' about the new WST amount to IMO. The cries of martyrs.
The WST vs. WTF thing also goes along way to showing me the maturity level of the posters on the topic as well.
Nalrok_AthZim, thanks for being rational. -

My SD/SS Tank is at ~52% to all positions. 30-somthing to PSI I think.
The click power to get DDR is always double stacked.
I STILL get debuffed to nothing against some mobs, but in general Percy is not going to die unless the RNG decides its time, which does happen.
So, I am of the opinion that over 45 is not a waste, but that more above 45 than you expect to get debuffed is a good sweet spot. -
Quote:I know someone I played games with for a number of years, that said of CoH, "I don't have the time to be committed to an MMO". They guy literally would not even start, because he knew he did not have the time to play as much as the most hardcore player and, therefore, have the most hardcore stuff. Since that was not possible for him, he would not even play....
Not at all. I'm just wondering why people spend so much time doing something the don't enjoy in order to get a reward out of it, when that time could be spent doing something perhaps less rewarding, but more enjoyable.
When people use terms like "work" and "effort" to describe something meant for entertainment, it makes me scratch my head. I can't think of any time in my life I have ever "worked" at watching a movie, or put "effort" into a TV show. ...
I don't get it. Regardless of the fact that it is, apparently, burned in the DNA of most humans and is considered 'normal' the in-ability of most humans to actually relax is astounding and sad. We are not relay wired to truly relax.
Also,
Quote:... I actually fully believe that more people are miserable playing this game, and indeed any MMO, than you might suspect. ...
Humans are hunter/scavengers. We always have been and changing our programming at that level is not something that will, if ever, be changed easily.
This leads us, even when we are trying to relax (ie. not think about the rest of our lives) to seek rewards and re-assurances. And we go right back to cognitive dissonance. As humans, we need to be reassured that the choices we make are the 'right' ones. Getting a reward of any kind, even virtual, enables our brains to turn on our pleasure centers and 'feel' that we did the 'right' thing.
That's why any reward, XP, Inf, badges, whatever is something that allows people to tell themselves they made the right choices. This is why people are able to delude themselves into thinking the 'chore' they are performing is 'fun', because the brain is telling them they did the right thing.
At least, that's how I see it. -
I guess part of my point is that too many people, IMO, take the as SRS BZNS which fuels, I think, the nerd rage.
Levity, of any kind, is always welcome in any discussion as far as I am concerned.
I can laugh long and hard at myself as easily as I can laugh about anything. I am well aware that my delusions are no more valid that anyone else's.
So, I am happy for the support of anyone that understands where I am coming from, but I know I am just as delusional as the rest of you.
Never-the-less, I do take the rude and immature remarks against the Developers more seriously than I should, in part because my life revolves around creating software. I do not like to see hard working, dedicated people assaulted by immature twits that could often not make anything useful for society themselves. -
Quote:I would LOVE to.But perhaps you would say exactly WHAT FUD and Doom you don't like?
It is against the rules to 'call out' people on the forum and I don't feel like doing it in a nice, obtuse fashion to fly under the radar.
And, it's the people behind and the attitude of the FUD and DOOM as much as anything.
I was not looking for anything, btw, other than, as I stated in the OP, that to shout out about the fact the haters are WRONG, the game is still here and still profitable.
And, of course, to laugh at the haters. To their faces. The fools post and gnash their teeth and promote angst, while still paying...the irony is tasty. -
I made my point.
You did not get it. Others did.
In the interest of being positive though, I'll word it differently.
Rude, immature and disparaging comments toward the Developers, their talents and product serve no useful purpose and I personally am sick of having to deal with people, on any level, that make them.
Being a life long gamer, I have dealt with the immature, entitled, self-serving twits that make these comments all my life. After a while, I get fed up and make posts of this nature.
I cannot be any more plain than that, I think.
Constructive criticism is a different matter. -
Thanks for the support.
Some readers obviously understand where I am coming from and others do not...imagine that...
I freely admit that complaining about the complainers is hypocritical. How many of the doom-criers will come out and admit that, hmm?
I am well aware I am blowing off steam and it will, in no way, change how the haters hate.
I am, however, laughing even now at those people who post rude and immature drivel trying to attack the developers yet still pay them. Hilarious!
(and yes - Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt is what I was referring to, but Elmer is my hero!) -
The title really says it all.
I have grown increasingly tired of the FUD that players who fear any change bring to the forums as well as the DOOM criers, who, after many years of success for this game, have apparently ALWAYS been dead wrong.
Yeah, I know I might as well be trying to stop a hurricane with tissue paper, but sometimes, I just get fed up with it.
Here we are, when the game has never had more ways to play, more things to do and more ways to them and all the Negative Nancy's can do is attempt to find fault with something.
It's sickening. It's one of the reasons that I am often embarrassed to call myself a gamer, lest I be thrown in with people that think it's a good idea to gather the pitchforks because a digit in the game got change from 2 to 1.5 and that the only appropriate response is to set themselves and everyone they can touch on fire.
Is every process in the game perfect? Of course not, because that is not possible, as the definition of perfect lies with each person differently for a fun pastime. Is it plenty fun enough to keep enough subscribers to be profitable? Apparently so, even when I recall posts determined to convince everyone the game would not be here for another month, pretty much from the beginning.
Now, constructive criticism is a needed form of feedback and there are plenty of posters who give great feedback.
But, this incessant need to degrade the work of the people pouring their hearts into this game is really unnecessary, immature and rude. I for one am simply sick of seeing it and post this to show current and future players that the Negative Nancy's are not only WRONG but are a small minority of the games population.
So, even thought there are those that will attack me, my post and possibly my heritage, I say to the Haters, you are WRONG. You have always been WRONG. The game is still here, still profitable, still moving in a positive direction.
If you don't like the game anymore, or never did, and yet you still play and or post your hate on the forums, the jokes on you. If you don't realize that, it just makes it all the more amusing. -
I just move them another server, my 'bench' server.
Sometimes, I change my mind and move them back to my 'play' server, after I try a few other things and perhaps realize that I like the one I 'benched' more.
This is with a full set of slots on my 'play' server.
So, I give $10 here and there to NCNC. Helps them and I never have to delete a 50.
Occasionally, I look at a character I have 'benched' and gut most of the really good IOs if I am 'remaking' the character...like changing a secondary but keeping the name, etc. Even then, I do not delete the character.
I know I can always come back, use the free respec that has certainly had time to accrue, and put in some SOs or common IOs to get restarted. -
And a response from another developer...

Seems like forums are volatile places...who would have thought that?
