  1. Hello all, always been a Scrapper and Tank guy but now I'm delving into Brutes because Fury just fascinates me. One- or Two-shotting bad guys at level four just sounds like my cup of tea. Currently I have a Kin/WP Scrapper at lvl 16 and do enjoy the ride thus far but I realized that Energy Aura suits his concept a little better. Also some of /EA powers sound kind of nice. So my question is "How rough is the ride or would the ride be on an /EA Brute compared to /WP scrapper?" Hopefully I put it in terms y'all can understand. Sounds legit in my head :-p

You can easily gather tips in Terra Volta by killing grey-con bosses. The trip there is fast if your SG base has the teleporter for it. That should take less than 5 minutes. Next, stealthing or running to the objectives for each mission should take less than 5 minutes per mission. Once you learn which tip missions are annoying or hard for you to do quickly, you can dismiss them while in Terra Volta so you only get the tips you want to do. Overall, it should take you about 30 minutes per day to do tip missions as long as you're not using Fly as a travel power. It may take you longer at first, but the speed will come as you learn the mission layouts and learn which ones to skip. Do the morality mission when your alignment is full. If you're on Hero side, the alignment mission that has you fight your mysterious double is significantly easier and faster than the one requiring you to rescue a bane spider.

After four days, you should have two Hero Merits. Turn those into a Luck of the Gambler: Global Recharge IO and craft it and sell it on the market. That should get you about 150 million INF. Do that three to five times and you will have more than enough INF to get your character into almost any IO set build as long as it doesn't have purples or PvP IOs. There are other IOs worth buying but the market changes all the time and I don't have time to look up what is the most valuable. The point is that almost any character is capable of earning enough INF in a short amount of time per day. You don't have to already have a "farming" character to make enough INF to get into the IO market.
Well, when you put it like that it seems easy. Taking a break for a couple hours today, may log back in and do some work later. Thanks for the shortcut and all the advice everyone. I guess in a week or two ill post a build to get input on where to go with it.
  3. After years of sitting in the late 40s, my Tanker hit 50 on a speed ITF last night. He's going to be my guinea pig for the Alpha slot since I haven't dabbled too much into the incarnate stuff. I was wondering which route would benefit him best being Invuln and Energy Melee? I was thinking Musculature because of EM's low-damage ways BUT I have noticed my blue bar suffers from time to time but never drops to zero in a fight. He has no IO sets because I don't get huge amounts of play-time to gather inf to spend on buying and creating them. He's just an SO/common IO kind of Tank.

Yeah, but I said screw it and rerolled into /WP. After making a build in Mids' and finding comparable regen and recovery rates in /WP, I decided it would be the superior set for my toon. I like going against the tide but if the easier ride is with willpower, I'm going with it. Besides, thanks to Pretoria getting back to 22 will be pretty easy :-D
  5. After reading (and rereading) this thread and giving some thought and input from my experiences thus far with regen, I'm actually considering rerolling into /WP because of all the votes. I do like regen but I have found myself face first more than I like. Regen doesn't react well in a pinch. Plus I've never rolled a /WP toon so there could be potential gains. To formulate a question:

Coming from a lvl 22 Regen, and liking the set, will I be further impressed if I reroll into a /WP? Or does Regen really pick up soon?

I was thinking I'd like Regen better because I think all the clicky heals kind of keep you on your toes but then I remembered my Invuln tank and how nice "set it and forget it is" and how much it keeps your head in the fight and off the green bar.
  6. In your opinion, is Power Siphon a MUST HAVE for Kinetic to be effective? I realize it's the Build Up power for the set but using it in game up to 22, I don't see HUGE gains from it and swapped it out for another attack. I just want to get some feedback as to whether or not it is a very needed power for the set or if I can live without it.

    ALSO.....

Instead of a new thread I'll just ask my question on this one....

Moment of Glory, does it really only last for 15 seconds now? and does the usual Tier 9 crash come with it? Mids' doesn't say anything about a crash but I was just curious as to if there is.

    Thanks in advance!
  7. This saddens me because my newest creation is Kinetic/Regen and I happen to enjoy playing him. Currently sitting at level 21, my first Pretorian turned out pretty cool. Regen starts REALLY slow but when you get some DO's in there, the powers really pick up I think. I had a Claws/Regen years ago on another account and fell in love with the set but got deleted and never had another idea for a /regen until I got kinetic melee.

I guess it does boil down to player preferrance, I think if you pit the two against each other in Mids, WP will probably most definitely shine compared to Regen, what with having Resists and what not. But I bet if you played either and got a feel for each you might change your mind. I have gotten some good guidance from the forums but IMO your best results will come from in-game experience. Just my two bits.
  8. I recently (finally) broke down and bought the Going Rogue pack and rolled a Preatorian(sp?) Scrapper with Kinetic/Regen and aside from regen being slow in the beginning game, Kinetic Melee is surprisingly awesome and refreshing. It's just something new and what I was looking for in a new Scrapper. Kinetic melee is really fast paced in my opinion, you can chain the first three attacks together rather quick and seamlessly.

I like the arcs (except anything with ghouls) in that world and xp moves pretty quick. Glad I made the purchase. Now I just gotta figure out the alpha slot stuff. Nothing really big here, just giving praise where it's due for renewing my vigor in Scrapping.

  10. Just wondering what set meshes really well with Shield Defense? I was considering Electric Melee because Lightning Rod + Shield Charge sounds AMAZING as far as burst/opening move. But I would really like to hear opinions.
  11. Yeah I find it may be a melee-ish combo which is fine by me since I come from a long line of scrapping and tanking. And I was thinking of Force Mastery as the ancillery to get Temp Invuln, Personal Force Field (for recovery/oh sh*t reasons), and Force of Nature for that last resort God Mode kind of thing. Also it's a concept guy which may seem pointless to some (or a lot) but I like and it adds flavor to the build IMO and part why I was thinking Force Mastery.
  12. Hello, I haven't had a blaster in years, just because I never really wanted one or had a concept for one. So, I rolled one this afternoon after having a concept idea for one. Made him a Rad/Energy and got him to 6, so far it seems like a powerhouse. Anyone have any feedback on this pair-up? Cons? Pros? Anything is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Invuln is, IMO, the second most survivable tanker. Just as strong as stone against S/L damage, and against more exotic damage types you can use IO's to get your defenses up. You won't be as survivable as stone, but you'll be pretty close and without the drawbacks of granite+rooted.
No, I didn't give up him, just suffering from altitis after my return from solitude. Still like to play him but I've always wanted to level a Stone tanker up to Granite and higher levels. Invuln is GREAT, don't get me wrong, I'm just testing the waters. All my guys are concept builds and when I finally had an idea for a Stone Armor guy I jumped on it.
  14. Thank you for the feedback guys, much appreciated. Pretty much what I was looking for. I plan to build around Granite once I get up there in the levels. Not that I don't like the other armors but I just like Granite because you never have to worry about it unless you jumped into the wrong level group. As far as the setback on psionic resist, there's ways around that. So again thanks for the quick and easy answer!
  15. After almost 3 years away I came back a few months ago and made Stone armor/Super Strength Tanker and had this question: Is Granite armor is still the most survivable Tier 9 power of the Tanker world? It's always been a power I liked to see in a fight because it just takes it on the chin and keeps going. Is this still the case or should I give up while I'm still ahead?
  16. Good, started to feel...ya know.....alone. Ha.
  17. Is it just me or is maintenance going a little later than advertised?
  18. I came back last month after almost three years of solitude (Champions Online, Crysis Online, MANY MANY Steam games, etc.) and I have to say even though I hate how little the server population is, I still have a love for this game. I just wish there were more people on so I can have a team for all my new ideas ha.

    EDIT:

Also, I think I cut out around i9 or i10 (not sure) and I'm wondering what's changed? I have noticed it's easier to solo at lower levels and XP comes a little quicker, or is it just me? I do find the game more tolerable than before for some reason.

Nevermind, just went through patch notes to remember when I cut out, after inventions and Ouroboros, and some of those other extra zones got put in is about my departure date. Glad I came back and to see some of you old timers.
  19. I really need to reactivate my account...

Hey it's Millenium-Man from this thread. I'm just using my brother's name till I can get my account reactivated. I'm looking for any color pros to take a look at a sketch i've colored from the other thread.

    Millennium-Man

Now besides my shakey mouse hand is there anything really wrong here or something that could be a little better? Shadow where there souldn't be, vice versa? Thoughts?
  21. Millennium-Man here. Sorry for the late reply. my account is off so I'm using my brother's to post this.

So Aeolus Sol is done for Heronu! I've already picked another but keep submiting! and comments are still always welcome!

My mace tanker always juggles unless I'm running while taunting.

The only oddity I've noticed is that if I'm flying into a group while hitting whirling mace, instead of the normal animation, my tank puts his feet together, toes down, head up, arms down at his sides, but wrapped around him a bit and he starts spinning like a tornado with the mace sticking out of the side.
