  1. ...building for debt protection? Isn't that a bit defeatist? In-mission debt is so minimal, and easily erased with a Patrol XP temp power or simply by logging off for a while. Its like a parachute that calls for an undertaker when deployed.

I guess if you build for defeat, you can take comfort when things go as planned.

    So. Poison.

Yeah, you would think, with so much focused on St debuffs, that Poison would be the go-to choice for wrecking AVs and GMs. Like some kind of Stalker-debuffer.

I will probably roll up an Poison/Dark Corr, if only to customize the powers into something that looks sickly and gross. Rad's PEW PEW PEW effects don't really jibe as well with that. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

    So. Poison.

I played with a DP/Poison corr on Virtue a week or two ago that was rocking the hell out of Poison. Double Dragunn or something like that. Anyhow, its inspired me to give the set another look.

What does it play nicely with? I'm thinking troller or corr, leaning Corr. Maybe Dark Blast? Anyhow, thoughts and ideas appreciated.
  5. Y'know, I sorta like having one Leroy on a team. ONE. And Seven other players smart enough to not run in after him. Every class needs a clown.
  6. Empathy. And Pain. And to a lesser extent, Therm. All good sets, but I take them too seriously. i spend all my time watching health bars and playing Whack-A-Mole any time someone takes damage. Completely neglect my other set.

I used to hate Storm. Then I tried it- really tried it. Within a month, I had an Earth/Storm, an Ill/Storm, and a Necro/Storm.

Energy Blast. Until the come up with a better way to mitigate KB. And no, "a wall" is not the answer.

Dark Armor. I have a 50+++ Spines/DA scrapper. It was a long, painful, blue-sucking road, but she is finally tough, effective, and fun to play. But I never need to make that trip again.
  7. Dang it, someone already snagged "Pole Dancer" on Virtue...
  8. Have the announced any of the costume weapon options? I need to start thinking me a concept that's not ninja turtle-related...
  9. ooooh, that looks so good!

My only beef with this (and all th enew sets) is they make the old sets look like crap.

    pc help

I'm pretty lo-fi bush league when it comes to tech support but...

Could the DVD drive have a blown motor or slipped gear? Does it ever spin up?

Have you tried installing in on another system?

    Energy Armor

It was on a recent ITF. Not just Romulus' obnoxious rez Stun (which my WP tank had no problem with), but the Mintotaurs and Cyclopes as well.

    Energy Armor

I've noticed My StJ/EnA brute getting stunned on occasion. I usually chalk that up to a toggle drop, but it was always a Stun.

I thought maybe EnA had a stun gap, like DA's Confuse gap.

    Then I checked the wiki:
Toggle: Self +Res(Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Repel, Knockback, Teleport, DEF Debuff), Self +Recharge, Foe -Recharge
So technically it does have Stun protection. Its just this game employs gifted chimps to write its copy, and keep switching terms as the whim pleases them.
  13. Dang, that stinks. Antidote does some Damage Resistance as well. i wonder why it wasn't considered.
  14. Or was it revised to become an AoE buff like Speed Boost?
  15. MaHaBone23

    Energy Armor

I have a StJ/EnA Brute. I like playing her, can be EnA is very clicky. If i get distracted with the offense or just play a bit too lazy, I end up eating floor since I wasn't healing myself or boosting my Def with Energy Drain. I also haven't worked in Fitness or Set bonuses yet, both of which should help immensely.

I also had A LOT of endurance issues with this set, until I got Energy Drain. All the +recharge you get from Entropic Aura means you're just attack cycling that much faster. Great for DPS, but hard on the blue bar.

Also- the Stun protection hole... ugh.

    Mine too.

Nerve Alphas always seemed a little unnecessary to me, since booting global accuracy was relatively easy. And especially now with Agility, and another way to get that coveted Defense boost.
  17. Yeah, I was just using the origin system as a way in, a way to organize thoughts.

The powers could be themed around costume packs in general, so when you were defeated using the toggle from, say, the Gunslinger pack, your body could be replaced by a weathered tombstone. When you rez, the tombstone could shatter as you claw your way back from the grave.
  18. Quick idea for an aura/costume pack: emotes and aura effects designed to activate on low health and/or defeat. No buffs or special powers, just some flavor to customize your game playing experience more closely to your character. It would run like a costume toggle with no end cost, that would not become obvious until you lost some health.

For example, a Tech origin toggle. As you lose health, your character begins to spark and smoke. Maybe the odd twitch and spasm. If defeated, you character would do a low-grade BOOM, like Self Destruct without the nuke. When you use a wakie or temp power rez, a repair plaform (like the ones that upgrade Robot Mastermind minions) would get you back on your feet. Again, nothing that would inhibit or enhance combat performance. Just flavor.

Or a Magic-based toggle, draining all color from your costume as you lose health. On defeat, a ghostly image of your soul hovers over your body. A wakie or temp power self rez would be a brief ritual to seal your soul back into your body.

Non-magic origin toons could use the magic toggle. They would not need to be origin exclusive, although the store could sell the toggle by origin for fewer points or bundled together for savings.

Of course there's lots of other ways to express injury and defeat. Characters limping, breathing heavy, bleeding raw energy or devolving into primordial goop. Perhaps even a costume slot that ONLY appears when your character is floored.

Anyhow, just a thought on a fun way to add more flavor to the game, as well has something fun for the store to push.

    Boom. Thanks, Necrotron!
  20. Has anyone tried this proc out yet on Distortion Field? The power itself has a depressingly low chance to hold (5% iirc) so I wasn't sure if the proc fired with the slow effect or only when the power hits that %5.

    Really, Devs? REALLY?

Coal, for the lot of you. And Athlete's Foot. Stockings brimming with coal and foot fungus.

    Ice/Time Advice

I am enjoying the hell out of my Ice/Time troller. Its a painful combo to solo, but it can make a full team into demigods. Slow is an okay method of mitigation- I find the Confuse in Artic Air much more helpful, and I can't wait to get a contagious confusion proc in there.

You do max out the Slow pretty easily, but that just leaves you room to focus on other aspects of you powers, like more recharge or more -tohit debuffs in Times Juncture..

I took all of the Time powers so far just to try them out. I'm pretty happy with most of them, but I may respec out of Distortion Field, unless a Chance for Hold proc really makes it shine.

    What I would skip:
Chillbain (I always skip the ST immob)
Shiver (they really should add some damage to this to beef up the set)
Flashfreeze (can be handy in a pinch, and can mule a cheap purple set, but otherwise its non-critical)

Ice Slick is one of the cornerstones of the set, but be prepared Fire, Earth, Plant and Ice controllers to ruin your fun when they start spamming their AoE immobs.
  23. Especially if you insist on making it the WST at once a dang month.

Not to imply that its broken, just... boring. It definitely seems to be a relic from the older CoH philosophy of hours played = hours enjoyed.

    Some suggestions:
A timer for when the next arrives, as in the UG trial.
An infirmary in in the power plant, perhaps just off that main control room.
A signature AV, one looking to harness the raw power of the reactor, so its as much about keeping him/her away from the reactor as whittling through a fat pile of hit points. Also give the whole trial a true climax, rather than the feeling of slogging away on a treadmill.

I eagerly await your awesome improvements!
  24. Yeeesh. Well, i guess i can go back to slotting up with the regular IO sets then...
