I slot for end drain myself. 2 acc, 1 dam, 3 end mod. It's easier to buff your damage than buff your secondary effects.
-
yeah, that's the downside of the triple-E. As we all know from personal experience, an opponent with no endurance is about as dangerous as boiled toast. It's laughable and quite satisfying when it works. Watching an exhausted Paragon Protector waffle and panic, yearning for MoG... ah, good times.
Problem is, it requires they have NO endurance left. Not 10% or 5% or the tiniest sliver. Even on fumes they can fight back.
The one other thing Electricity has going is that it's a little more exotic damage type. The raw numbers might be a little lower, but there aren't many enemies that can shrug it off. -
Quote:Yeah. They'll do that. Its part of the nature of ANY communication system the lowest people will use it for the lowest purposes.According to Niv's announcement some people are saying things in rep comments that are a clear violation of the forum rules and guidelines. Things that they would never post in a regular post like here because they think the comments are anonymous to the mods.
I wouldn't condone the forum or the rep system for illegal activities, like actively threatening a person's well-being or livelihood in real life. If someone uses it to call you a bad name, eh, you deal with it how you want. Report it to the mods, laugh it up, get it printed on a T-shirt. You go on the Great Human Safari, sometimes you'll step in the poop.
What I certainly would NOT agree with is that because some people might use a system for mean or immature purposes, that system should be shut down. If you don't like it, don't use it. Turn off your rep. Don't read the silly little messages. The emotional fargility of a few should not dictate what is available by the many. -
I don't know why y'all get in such a twist about this. My neg reps and PMs are some of my most treasured possessions. My fave is a "stern talking to" another forum poster gave me about my name and how it violates the Freemason's oath. The message ended with the insistence that I change my name.
It's sorta like looking at cartoons drawn by the mentally insane. One part insight into the human psyche and condition, one part colorful fun! -
lol, I've gotten more rep points from this thread than from every helpful tip, humorous anecdote, and stunning insight I've ever posted combined.
Not sure if that points towards a flawed system or the fact that I don't post many helpful tips, humorous anecdotes or stunning insights.
Seriously, though. This is the internet. Toughen up or switch to HAM radio. -
I've had nothing but good experiences with the help desk. Usually I need help with badges not being awarded or similar bugs. I try and be as clear and polite as possible, and always thank them after they help me out.

Also: cavities. -
Considering that my rep is pretty much garbage anyhow, color me not worried.

Elementary chaos theory tells us that all robots will eventually turn against their masters and run amok in an orgy of blood and the kicking and the biting with the metal teeth and the hurting and shoving.

I live in Rhode Island (home of Paragon City) but have yet to bump into another player. A few years ago i discovered out of the blue a friend of mine played as well- the day he moved to Alaska. He's since quit for work/kids.
There must be a dozen guys at work that play WoW. When I mention I play CoH, the response is always the same- "that game is still around?"
The only time it really bugs me is when I have some cool story/game experience to talk about. My wife is REALLY sick of hearing about those. -
Like many of you, I've been spending the past week knocking on doors, collecting costumes and badges, and dusting off some old toons. Good times. And, like many of you, I've noticed how strange it is that vampires, witches and zombies keep dropping tech SOs.
Then, I noticed something else- my Elec/Elec blaster seemed to be more effective than my Psi/Ment blaster on these tricksters. I didn't record or measure any data- it just seemed that way. We all know what Psi blasters are weak against, don't we? Robots. Robots, that drop tech SOs.
Don't make me say it...
Fine, I'll say it.
It's a Nemesis plot. -
Here's one to prove/disprove-
I've noticed I am more likely to get a Treat if I have an empty slot in my Inspiration Tray. I've gotten Treat with full trays and Trick with half-empty ones, but leaving a spot for the small insp to drop seems to increase the chance of getting a Treat.
If I had to speculate, I would guess that Treats could take 3 forms-
a small/medium inspiration
a small/medium inspiration + a bonus costume power
a bonus costume power
If you have a full tray, it precludes the first two possibilities. If you don't get the third option, you get a Trick. -
You're probably safer a trainer crowded with other players, and their heals, taunt auras, and buffs, then you would be at a deserted trainer. There's a good reason one of the badges is called Safety in Numbers.
And if you're AFK for that long, it's your own fault. Get over it, port to the hospital, and get going. The broadcast CLEARLY states that all "non-combatants" should seek shelter. Go inside.
On a less preachy note, it's actually pretty fun to hover at a safe height during invasions. Zombies still spawn near you, right out of the ether, and then plummet to the ground. -
Quote:They say we all carry our part with us through the present. Zeus Carter is living proof- literally. A string of ancient reptilian code in his DNA became active when he hit puberty. It turned his skin into a thick hide of leathery scale, and his blood into an uncanny tonic of regeneration. He can secret a fine spray to heal wounds, clear the mind, or even restore the dead.Name: Afrogator
Origin: Mutation
Class: Corruptor
Primary: Assault Rifle
Secondary: Pain Domination
Pool: Super Jump
Appearance (have also added red bat wings):
Battle Cry: It takes a lot of work for a cold-blooded creature to look this hot.
I just can't get a handle on a good bio for him. I want something semi-serious, and not too disco. Inspiration partly came from Nabeshin from Excel Saga (hence the AR).
Too bad the mind wasn't as noble as the body. Zeus has a cold-blooded mind for menace, and equipped himself with the firepower to match his ambitions. He never bother to protect his identity or to fake his innocence, but the "man" known as Zeus Carter is long gone. Friend and foe alike know him simply as Afrogator. -

Quote:What's the "A.L." stand for?Name: A.L. Assassin
Gender: Female
Origin: Technology
Class: Stalker
Primary: Claws
Secondary: Super Reflexes
Pools: SS
Appearance: Shoulder-Length black hair. Black Suit, Formal. Black Pants, Formal. Black Shoes, Sort of formal for a while there but it got really annoying to wear High-Heels while running so now it's just normalish Black Shoes. Strange augmentations on her hands. -
Quote:Fire/Fire Sci Dominator, for everyone's information.Click the link to the deviantArt page (It's hidden!) and therein lies her origin, powers, and AT.
I like the cowboy hat... hmmmm. The nice thing about villains is it opens a whole new realm of misadventure from their civilian pasts.
Bella Tanner was a notorious arsonist, laying waste to vast tracks of Texas prairies and extorting obscene "protection fees" from local farmers and ranchers.
When the locals banded together and fought back with hi-tech fire prevention robots, Bella decided to step up her game too. With her sister's help, she broke into a local petrochemical plant looking for some new breakthrough in explosives and incendiaries. What she found was Mercury 7, a catalyst designed to turn organic waste into an efficient fuel. What Mercury 7 DID do was turn every cell in Bella's body into a fuel plant. Her blood, tears- all highly flammable. She literally sweats napalm.
She stepped up her game alright- this goes way beyond rolling yokels for protection money! -
Quote:What is she? Science origin? Fire rad? Dominator? Corrupter?Rare is the time I come up with a character without thinking of a bio and/or concept first, but Tinderbelle is the exception.
Originally she was to be part of a villainous duo with her sister Cinderella (seewhatIdidthere?), but that name was taken and thus the concept fell flat. I figure Tinder's mother was the one exposed to convenient radiation/chemicals while she was pregnant with her, but that's about all I can come up with. -
Quote:Sure, maybe a quick flick of lightning.Brilliant! Blazing Arrow would still be a little risky to use, but I like it! Maybe it's rigged to light *after* it leaves the fumes.
...now I can't stop wondering about where he quivers that nasty, oily arrow. *YEEESH!* -
Quote:Giant Robot BirdheadOk...I don't usually do Bio's, so this sounds like a great opportunity!
1. Giant Robot Birdhead - Male?
2. Traps/Archery defender with superjump.
3. Technology
4. A giant robot with a bird head.
1. Dead Frozen Bunny - Male
2. Stone/Ice Dominator
3. Natural
4. A blue zombie bunny.
1. Sheets to the Wind - Male!
2. Archery/Storm Corruptor
3. Natural
4. A pirate with a bow. Storm powers are colored the color of pirate B.O. after 6 months at sea. Also, he has a kilt.
5. Mostly, I need a reason for a pirate to have a bow.
Disney-esque animatronic robot gains sentience and hunts down line jumpers and litter bugs.
Dead Frozen Bunny
Missing link/monstrosity found frozen in the Alaskan tundra. Defrosted, reanimated, and PISSED!
Sheets to the Wind
Maybe he can't use a musket/blunderbus for fear of igniting so of his own... emanations? -
Quote:She was trained by the KGB to be an assassin at the tender age of 6. When the Soviet Union collapsed, she went free agent, becoming an international bounty hunter and freelance covert op specialist.OK, I'll give this a shot in anticipation of a character I'm going to create once Going Rogue hits:
1. Name: Bang-Bang and gender: female.
2. Archetype: blaster and power sets: dual pistols and (most likely) devices, including pools: unknown as of now.
3. Origin: natural.
4. A quick description of their appearance: 6' tall, athletically-built caucasian woman with short blue hair (possibly a wig). She wears tinted glasses that hide her eyes, a black patent-leather bodysuit, a gun belt, a dark purple suede leather jacket and dark purple patent leather boots.
She's collected such a huge case file on dirt and blackmail material and every leader, chief and agent around the world, that she can work both sides of a conflict with impunity. In fact, working both sides against each other to her personal advantage has become her hallmark and M.O. -
Quote:heh heh, I once had a character with a similar concept called "Liar Liar". She was a fire blaster and her battle cry was "Pants on Fire!"I'll have a go at this. I have great banter binds for this character, but thus far I've been at a loss to write a sufficiently awesome biography.
Name: Baroness Munchhausen. Female
Powersets: Electrical Melee / Shield Defense
Origin: Mutation
Appearance: typical Heraclea character, fairly tall and robust, long black hair. Wears an English monocle. Three costumes so far: black minidress with fishnets and high heeled boots; black buckled leather; tan jacket over black tank top, camo slacks and duster hat. Shield logo is the "Bird" heraldic eagle.
Some of her sample binds:
"You cannot win, $target. I once defeated the entire Red Chinese army with a packet of Alka-Seltzer."
"Remind this $target about how I held off a thousand ninjas in Macao with a nail file."
"Don't try to climb K2 like I did, $target. I broke a heel."
"In the Peruvian Andes, we used to use $targets as bait in the tarrasque traps."
"I taught Ms. Liberty everything she knows, $target. About fighting, anyways. That trick with the jello shots was her own idea."
The beauty of this kind of character was you can pretty much write whatever you want and it doesn't have to make sense or sound plausible. In fact it works better the less plausible you get! -
Quote:Okay, I'll try this one-Hmm, okay, I'll play. I have a character that's lacking a really good story, the one I had in mind was weak and only got lamer as it went along, so I just rolled the character and promised a story later. She's only level 5 because I don't like not having a bio. :/
1. The Silent Force, female. (The name is why I rolled her, thank you Within Temptation.)
2. Fire/Storm Corruptor, no pools yet but she'll fly.
3. Magic.
4.
She's supposed to look ethereal, ghostly, and I liked the idea of a ghost with a bloody stripe across half its face.
The original idea I had was an elemental force, fire and storm being the bane of ships and sailors everywhere, which was captured somehow and after some testing turned out to be an Irish girl lost on a cruise ship [x] centuries ago. I dunno, it sounded good to begin with but I'm not satisfied with it, it's more an outline than a story.
She's not just any girl, but an aspiring witch in the magicks of the old Celts, and a bit of a thief, too. She's on this particular ship to escape the Irish constabulary, because she has stolen a religious relic- the teeth of St. Elmo.
When the ship encounters a vicious storm on the way to the New World, our Witch girl uses the relic in combination with her magick to save herself, making a blood sacrifice of the rest of the crew. Since she played by the rules, St. Elmo has no choice but to honor her spellbound contract and empower her. However, her bloody sacrifice was so abhorrent, he brands her with a bloody scar and curses her to walk the Earth until the end of days.
Her true name has been lost to the ages, because to speak it aloud was to literally curse a sailing ship to doom. -
By Origin, I mean Science/Mutation/Magic/Natural/Technology.
