    Fortunata Build

Keep in mind the soft cap for defenses is 45%, so anything above that isn't helping at all unless you're being debuffed.

Not much else you can do slotting wise to help with survivability except grab +hp. Proper inspirations, team makeups, and smart play gets master badges.

The irony is...eiko is the one carebear i wish castle listened to.

i13 was an attempt to make PvP more appealing to us "carebears", and we all know how well that went over. Attempts to force PvP, or even encourage PvP, among the PvE crowd are destined to fail. Those that want to PvP will do so; those that want nothing to do with it should not be enticed into it.

Trying to get people that don't want to PvP on their own to engage in it with the lure of phat lutz, or anything else, is just stupid.
For a moment humor me and let's pretend PvP was presented in another way. Say you were playing on your hero and working on a story line. At the end you were offered a special optional mission. The contact received a tip that a bank was going to be robbed and wants you to defend it. The mission map is one of the regular bank missions and if you accept you spawn in the vault room. Meanwhile random pc villain xx spawns at the mission entrance and starts making their way toward the vault.

For discussion sake, lets imagine that if the devs were going to institute competitive pvp missions they would make sure the system was balanced first. No archetype would have an inherent advantage over others in this imaginary system. Also, imagine that while in this mission, the i13 changes do not apply to either characters and powers are viable in both pve and pvp.

If you defeat the villain, you have successfully stopped the bank robbery and are given an adequate reward for your time invested. If you are defeated, the villain successfully robs the bank. You are still given a reward (less then if they had won) for your valiant efforts in stopping the villain.

Would you honestly not participate in such missions simply because they are pvp related? If there was balanced, goal-based pvp would you still not participate?

    Idea about PVP

As a side note. The pvp community appreciates most suggestions to improve the system, or to make it more attractive to invite new players. However, even the best, well thought-out, fact providing, community agreed upon suggestions and feedback fall on deaf ears. If someone posts and seems rather rude, pay them no heed as their frustration and angst are not directed at you.

    Idea about PVP

PvP needs to be fixed before such high rewards are added. Dangling shinies trying to get pve'ers to come play with us didn't work with pvp IOs and it probably wouldn't work with this.

Example. 1 merit per kill. LGTFs and ITFs can be run in 25-30 minutes with a decent team. In order to pull in people to pvp the rewards would have to be equal to or greater then what people can achieve during pve. If it's not people who are attempting to maximize rewards for their time spent won't do it. The problem with this is, to be competitive in pvp and successful, you have to invest a lot of time prior to the reward coming in. You have to learn to play your toon, and at minimum get accolades, hp IOs and kb IOs (if you're on a toon without protection). Even then, you'd have to have a proper toon (the amount of pvp viable builds is small) and you'll have to maintain a very high kill rate (1 per minute or so) to keep up with what people can do in pve, without having to go through the trouble of working on the toon first.

Something like this would just invite farming.

I believe what you're referring to was one of the posts made by castle saying they weren't going to revisit pvp at soonest until after GR was released.

    Here its is....

We have a ton of things we want to do with PVP, the problem mainly lies in getting bandwidth across disciplines at the same time to get them done. That pretty much means there won't be any major changes until after Going Rogue at this point.
With Issue 19 being dedicated to Incarnates, I wouldn't expect another pvp revision until I20 at soonest... Maybe this time next year. PvP community should be mostly gone by that point, so it'll be a fresh start :/
  8. The pvp community has become accustomed to being ignored or put at the bottom of the priorities list. Thus far the replies have been rather tranquil, but the regulars haven't shown up yet.

The humor in this thread is that this time a dev did acknowledge us, but only to say that there was no pvp change coming. Irony at its finest.

While I appreciate the gesture, most people here will not.

The advice in particular I was looking for was if Mask Presence necessary if I don't have any powers from the widow branch. Also if Darkest Night from the epic pool was as good as the Darkest Night from DM.
Defense bonuses usually come from cheaper sets, so its possible. One thing to note is that if you have mask presence activated when you're checking stats in Mids, it uses the unsuppressed value. MP suppresses during combat so don't have it active when you're looking in mids, just add the suppressed value afterward.

My slotted mask presence grants 3.92% defense, activating it in mids grants 11.8%. This value is correct out of combat, but once you engage it drops to the suppressed value.
  12. NtGbU has been short on members for practice the past few weeks and we're looking to fill our ranks. As I noticed there are a few people still looking for a team, an open practice seemed like a good way to catch them in game if they're interested and get some actual playing in. Any free agents or new people interested in getting into the ladder, or members from other teams looking for a new group are welcome and encouraged to attend.

    9pm est
    Thursday, June 24th
    Test Server Pocket D

If many people show up things will be run kb style, if only a few members, regular practice. If another team is available that night and wants to have some fun, your participation would be greatly appreciated.

Any questions can be directed here, in a pm, or ingame if you prefer.

For NtGbU memers: This is a mandatory practice. If you will not be available at that time, contact me prior to. If you do not show up and have not attended prior practice you will be removed from the roster.

EB yes. AV, not even close with that attack chain.

As a side note, AVs have regen debuff resistance, the reason that it works well with things like rad is because lr has -500% regen. Widows can't get anywhere near that number so its totally ineffective.

MA > Claws. Follow-up doesn't work so well in pvp because people tend to move around a lot.

Regen is the far better choice in pvp. WP is not very good unless you're fiteclubbin, even then Regen is probably still superior

  17. Haven't shared my build in a long time.

Anyone willing to invest the time/inf in IOing a widow for PvP can invest the time making a sufficiently functional build in Mids.

There are plenty of advice threads on the subject around. Maybe I'll write a guide one day.

    PVP Widow.

There is a good reason you can't find one

True, but the formed teams shouldn't be held up by the newer ones. The ladder only needs 2 ready teams to begin, if Silit and another team are ready let them start. We'll jump in and challenge someone when we're ready.

I'd rather the newer teams be a little slow to start then the ladder fall apart because people get tired of waiting and find something else to do. Also if they start it up, perhaps the stragglers will get there act together and things will really start moving.
