I think the others have answered your questions pretty well, but I'll just add a couple of extra thoughts:
While the "closest to completion" progress bars were a nice addition to the game there are several bugs associated with them in one way or another, especially related to "crossover" badges. Basically what I'm saying is don't automatically assume what they are telling you is 100% accurate.
Also if you want further infomation about any badges there's always the Paragonwiki.
Good luck!

Quote:Stories like this will continue to prove that some people out there just have way too much free time on their hands.Never watched the series, but, this is cool

Now I can see a whole fleet of Sci-Fi ships, dangling from a MASSIVE Xmas tree

I only really know McG from his involvement in the Charlie's Angel movies and Terminator Salvation. Sadly I thought all of those movies were mediocre at best. I'm not exactly sure how much he's responsible for that, but I have to figure some of it was his doing.
I can at least understand why Hollywood executives would automatically assume the guy behind the Charlie's Angel movies would be the "perfect" choice to work on a Wonder Woman TV show. Those movies portrayed the angels as being over-the-top superpowered "Wonder Women" whether it was believable or not. I suppose there could be a worse choice than McG, but I'm obviously not completely convinced he would be the best choice either. As I said in other recent threads I'll still give this show a chance regardless if they intend to make some kind of Charlie's Angel clone out of this show or not. *shrugs* -
Quote:Clearly this is proof-positive that Wonder Woman has never been a character that was simple to produce. The Cathy Lee Crosby nightmare was perfection compared to the first attempt to create a Wonder Woman TV show back in 1967. I'll provide the link to the info if you want to be nauseated by it, but here's some pics from that pilot that pretty much speak for themselves:I heard they are doing a remake of this version of Wonder Woman.

Quote:I'd rather let my mind accept a BSG civilization based on real world knowledge of typical solar systems and the level of assumed technology they had to work with. Sure they produced fleets of FTL capable Battlestars. But nothing we've seen suggests they had the level of stellar engineering capable of moving multiple planets and stars around into a symmetry so perfect it'd be beyond even the gods of Kobol themselves to arrange.Let your mind imagine these worlds or other worlds, let the writer write and fill thier worlds, and let us all be one in harmony.

Quote:Actually I am a "hoot" at parties. The fact that you expect something from a science fiction world to be 100% realistic means you fail to grasp the meaning of fiction.
It's ok to accept FTL, sentient robots, etc, but it's not ok to accept that in the vast emptiness of space there's a possibility a group of planets might be out there in the fashion the BG universe says there is?
You must be a hoot at parties.
Again I'm not saying that what they came up with isn't "possible". But anyone will tell you that some of the best science fiction out there is considered the "best" because the science involved in those stories is just about as totaly NON-FICTIONAL as possible.
There was basically no reason they couldn't have come up with a "fictional" setup for these systems that didn't follow the best REAL WORLD information we have. What makes it especially jarring is that they didn't just randomly come up with an unlikely scenario - they seemed to go out of their way to come up with something that was so completely unlikely in nature that they purposefully went out of their way to make something silly.
I simply find it unfortunate that they messed up something so basic when otherwise it was a very cool effort. *shrugs* -
Quote:The only thing I'm complaining about is that it would have been terribly easy to come up with a set of maps that were "plausibly realistic" knowing what we actually do know about real life solar systems. The map they came up with screams "we did it just because it looked pretty". Sure it's a "possible" scenario, but the fact that it's so incredibly unlikely is jarring to anyone who knows the smallest amount about the real life universe out there. *shrugs*It still doesn't make it impossible though. That is all I'm saying. And I'd contend we don't know enough about what's out there to say definitively that it's even that unlikely.
Saying a make believe star system ruins the plausibility of a show with FTL travel (especially how they depict it) is just looking for things to complain about, in my opinion. -
Quote:182 meg pre-download upon exiting.
Are we getting ready for Strike Pack?
Anyone have any guesses about when Strike Pack will be launching?Consider two points:Quote:They said February. Which starts in a week and goes on for 28 days.
A) I've read that Issue 19.5 (a.k.a. Strike Pack) is going live in "early" February. I think it's safe to assume that could be anywhere from February 1st to the 15th.
B) Historically whenever the Devs release a "pre-download" it pretty much always means the next big Patch/Issue it applies to goes live roughly 2-3 weeks later.
These two data points seem to match up with each other fairly nicely. Based on the Devs' tendency to release things on Tuesdays I would expect the Strike Pack to happen on either February 1st, 8th or the 15th.

Actually it's called Science Fiction.

It's still incredibly unlikely that you'd have four very close star systems which started out with enough "almost good enough" planets to do that much terraforming, assuming we knew this civilization was advanced enough to do massive terrforming like that in the first place.
I realize my point here is a bit nitpicky. But I just figure they did such an awesome job with the map to begin with it's just too bad it's not 100% realistic. -
Quote:Hey no worries. Just poking a little fun...Actually I looked at the last page and all I saw was people talking about tech gear vs magic gear.
But then again why would anyone be bothering to talk about something as off-topic as Wonder Woman "tech gear vs magic gear" in a thread that technically started out as a "Wonder Woman show fails to get started again" thread? I realize this thread's original title is now pretty misleading given how things progressed since yesterday, but still.

I can certainly accept that this is a "canon official" map and may even be a "scientifically plausible" one. But seriously, if there ever existed a region of space where there were a dozen "earth-like" planets all within 0.1 light years of each other that would be like a one-in-a-bazillion bit of good luck by any plausible measure.
We know this civilization has "FTL drive" capability already. It frankly would have been a tad bit more realistic for these 12 colonies to have been spread out across more like 9 or 10 systems separated by say at least 25 or 50 light years. While this map is pretty it's also clear they sacrificed a bit of "realism" in order to achieve a nice bit of tidy symmetry for the purposes of a TV show.
It's a great map for this awesome TV series. But let's not get -too- carried away by it.

Quote:Well for what it's worth I wouldn't mind if they kept her personal items "magical" but redo the jet as a cool new super-stealth deal that has nothing to do with being literally "invisible" like the semi-cheesy 70s era cartoons made it out to be. I think casting Wonder Woman as a "corporate executive" could open up the possibility of mixing some of her "traditional" Amazon/magic abilities with modern high-tech things.Problem with her magic items going tech is that it pretty much would change the character completely. She is supposed to have the strength, speed, stamina, etc of the gods similar to Captain Marvel/Shazam. So if she is just a tech user like Batman then she would likely not have the speed-reflexes-timing-hand eye coordination needed to deflect bullets or beams with her bracelets. How would the lasso of truth work if it were tech based? By electro shocking the person into telling the truth? Seems like torture and I doubt that would last for long on the networks.
They could have it where she comes from her homeland of the Amazons, armed with her magic weapons, etc. and decides that in order to effectively fight evil in "man's world" that she must learn the ways of "man's world" and that could include creating and running a business empire that she in turn can use its resources in her fight. Given that she and the other amazons are supposedly immortal she could have left her homeland decades ago and spent that time building her corporate empire. This could also be used to show her fighting the Ratzi's in the 40's then returning to her business for a time after the war and then emerging again the present to pick up the fight again. -
Quote:Seriously Knight_Marshal: You bothered to spend a few minutes cut-n-pasting a quote about the show without realizing we've already been talking about it for like the last 20 posts. Who tosses quotes into threads without spending at least 10-15 seconds reading the last few posts to see what's going on? WTF! indeed.C'mon people. there's only 37 posts here, and now 3 of them are the "newsflash! NBC wants a pilot!"....is any one actually reading the thread?

Yeah I've never been too much of a fan of the invisible plane/jet either. But my guess is that based on the following phrase used in the article calling her "a vigilante crimefighter and successful corporate executive in Los Angeles" many of her traditional "magic items" (tiara, lasso, bracelets, and invisible jet) are going to end up being more tech-based like Batman's gadgets. As a "corporate executive" we could assume she'll be financially well off and able to afford tech-toys like Bruce Wayne. If this is the case then the invisible jet could be easily be "explained" as being more like a super-stealth 007-like jet that she keeps in a hidden corporate hanger.
Again that's just a guess based on the nearly zero-info we have about this. Hopefully they'll spill some real details as soon as they can. -
Quote:I admit the idea of Debbie and Tiffany tossing each other around is funny. But it's merely YouTube funny.subtitled: Debbie Gibson Vs Tiffany. (I've waited decades to see this!)

The idea that SyFy bothered to dress up what should have been a funny 5 minute Internet video in the trappings of a "sci-fi" movie to be aired on the "supposedly" sci-fi TV network is pathetic. The people who are responsible for SyFy are proving to be about as competent as Christian TV network people trying to run the Playboy channel would be.

Quote:Eh, there are ways and places in the game to literally blast through hundreds of those critters in the timeframes of an hour or two if you were so inclined to finish those badges ASAP. On the grand list of what I would consider to be the currently "hardest/most tedious" badges to get I doubt any defeat badge would crack my top 50. Illusionist might, but that'd be the only one to get close.Yeah but some of the defeat badge criteria is still a bit of overkill: 1000 monkies, 1000 LB, 333 Cage Consortium.....
P.S. Zookeeper was "overkill" when it was originally set for 10,000 monkeys. Now at 1,000 it's easy-peasy.

Quote:Yeah I'd give Rhona about a 1% chance too. Not that she's technically bad for the part, I just don't see it happening. That's no fun!
I suggest we offer up our own suggestions.
In that light I submit Rhona Mitra since she was on his Boston law shows. I'd give her about a 1% chance to actually get the part but I still throw her name out there.
My guess is that they'll go for a no-named actress aged around 25-30. If what they said about this pilot is true there were problems with the budget for this show being an issue in the first place. I figure they'll try to trim as much money as possible by finding someone who won't cost them that much money to play the part.
Frankly in light of the huge legacy Lynda Carter is going to have over this new show they're probably better off with a fresh face regardless. People are going to draw comparisons between Lynda and the new actress filling her boots no matter what. Might as well open the gates to someone willing to tackle that with as little baggage as possible. -
Quote:Sure this show might turn out to be "Wonder McBeal" and if so we'll probably get a lot of milage ripping it apart. It might not be the type of "entertainment" we wanted, but it'll be noteworthy nevertheless.I look forward to see what he has in mind and hope it succeeds because I like superhero shows to succeed even if I am not interested in watching each and every one of them.
In the meantime it provides a lot of fodder for humor like blending Wonder Woman, Ally McBeal and Boston Legal.
Besides for all we know there'll be a race of aliens who'll like this show and we'll have to keep making it in order to keep them from getting angry and attacking us 1,000 years from now.

Quote:Maybe, but we really still know almost nothing about this show so far. Far too early to cry doom just yet.An unpowered Wonder Woman on television puts a bullet in the head of any proposed Justice League movie. A powered Wonder Woman, not so much.
For example this article says "Kelleys take on the property will be more serious, and less campy than the 1978 series that starred Linda Carter, but he has still found a way to incorporate Wonder Womans signature truth lasso, her bullet-deflecting cuffs, and her invisible plane." Sounds like some kind of "powered" version of Wonder Woman to me.
Again I'm not going to get too excited about this either way until we see more about it. I'm sure no matter what form this thing takes there will be people who like or dislike it for dozens of reasons. I'm willing to give it a chance before I assume the worst. -
Quote:Any kind of prequel to the trilogy we already have would be preferable to any kind of sequel. I still contend the story was "over" at the end of the third movie. The only thing that would interest me at this point would be getting more detail about what led up to what we've seen already. What the Wachowski's ought to consider is doing prequels that show the previous "The Ones" as they attempt to stop the war. Per the Architect, Neo is the 6th version of the "the One".
So who were the other 5? Clones of Neo? Different people? It was apparently his love for Trinity, per the Architect, that made Neo seek a third path to ending the conflict.
Also here's a thought: The machines seem pretty intelligent and capable, surely they have the technology to remove the scorching from the sky that the humans inflicted? -
Quote:To be fair many movies leave themselves open for sequels but they don't always get made. The only reason we got two sequels to the Matrix was that the first movie did so well in the box office. If for some reason it hadn't done well it could have screamed "SEQUELx1000" and still nothing would have happened.Seriously though, despite being able to stand on its own Matrix 1 screamed "SEQUEL" so it was inevitable that sequels would come.
I have no doubt that sometime in the future someone will either make a Matrix clone or an official "remake" of the Matrix using all sorts of fancy 3D (or maybe even 11D for "M-brane vision" at that point) special effects. I only hope that when that day comes someone will manage to come up with a plot/story actually worth watching to go with it. -
Quote:I guess someone had a case of deja vu...

The only thing that made some of the older defeat badges "semi-difficult" to earn usually had something to do with the fact that you were trying to get a badge that was "counter" to whichever side you were Red or Blue. Examples of this were like Heroes trying to get Longbow back a year or two after CoV launched or Villains trying to farm Warrior Bosses or Rularru in a handful of redside door missions.
Now that we have features like Flashback and Crossover almost all defeat badges can now be easily finished point system or no point system. I'm not against the idea of retrofitting the system back on older badges. But likewise I don't really see the overwhelming need for it anymore either. *shrugs* -
Quote:Yeah if this new NBC show goes 100% completely in that "no powers" direction then I wouldn't be terribly happy either. But I find myself torn between getting a version of Wonder Woman on TV that I might not particularly like versus no Wonder Woman at all.So... it'll be this. Not what I think of first when I think of Wonder Woman.
What's the worse that can happen? This new series will suck and be quickly cancelled. How would that be any different from the last 30+ years without a Wonder Woman series on TV? Like I said before I'll give this new show a chance. Who knows, they might come up with some "reworking" of the character that turns out to be interesting in its own right. -
Quote:I think you just answered your own mystery here. Sure the fight scenes were cool, but can you really call any movie that's only good for a few minutes worth of fight scenes a truly "good" movie? Movies like this weren't made to be "fast-forwarded" through. The fact that you only really enjoy it that way now pretty much proves the sequels were no where near as "good" as the first one.I never understood the hate for Matrix 2 and 3. Admittedly, with Matrix 3, I tend to fast forward to all the fight scenes and I enjoy it that way.
And sometimes it's really quick between those fight scenes.
