Quote:Makes me wonder how many play or played Magic the Gathering or Pokemon or any CCG, and are complaining about this.I'm guessing the people who don't like these things also don't like, or never collected trading cards, because that's the closest, most obvious analog I can think of to these superpacks.
As someone who spent too much of his allowance as a kid on Wacky Packages, and Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back trading cards, and too much of his income as an adult on Buffy, and Star Wars Galaxy trading cards, I think these are a fun idea. I'll probably buy a 24 pack on each of my accounts and be done with it.
Does anyone know what the actual odds of any given item are? In the first pack I opened, I got 1 common, 3 uncommon and 1 very rare item. -
I completed the Ganymede portion of the Valentine's day mission, and got introduced to DJ Zero. However after answering a series of questions. I get referred BACK to Ganymede, who has no missions. I go back to Zero, he has no missions nut refers me to Duncan, who has no missions. I am playing on a level 50 char, so level reqs shouldn't be a issue.
Is this a bug, or is it indeed possible to lose out on the Valentines day stuff? -
Quote:Build and such belowSo, by some twist of fate and fortune I've managed to survive 26 level as a Battle Axe/Shield Defense Brute. But that's slowly becoming and issue. I either run out of endurance due to the drain both power sets put out. Or I just have little survivability due to shields defensive abilities. Does anyone have some survival advice, as I do enjoy the set, however I feel less than mighty when I feel i constantly need some manner of buffer with me (FF,Sonic,Cold,Fire etc) Anyone versed in Shield Defense got any advice?

Quote:So essentially, this isn't a build or build advice so much as proof of number crunching? Damn *goes too burn a respecOh I know, it was just to show how easy it is to softcap even without Kinetic Combats, I know this is unplayable - but it'd be a very fine exemplaring build after you get decent numbers of slots (since in this skeleton you have about 3 or 4 free slots only until 27) to get good numbers out of your attack chain. Plus no need to worry so much on endred after 27 (ED+slots). But I'd say that with the slots you get up to 30 you might make this workable with frankenslotting on other stuff, and would exemp very well to 25.
I mnay try something like this on my broot (he's 18, stuck in Praetoria, someday I'll get a toon out of there, I have 5 toons around 15-18 there and I love their concepts but hate the place lol), but I like taunt too much to try it so soon and also, WM is an end hog, so I'll need to really think how I'll slot stuff. Maybe level 30-33 IOs, I already like EA's numbers on SOs. -

This is the most disheartening developer post I've ever seen. The lack of an apology, even while addressing the issue of a lack of an apology to the defenders who tested Enervating Field, is an appalling absence of manners. Explaining why you made a mistake does not excuse the fact that you flat out told prominent members of the community that they were lying. A simple "we're sorry we treated you poorly" would go a long way, and would cost you nothing - but it will probably never be voiced.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, I'll address this, though I really don't want to. After doing fairly extensive research into three "Enervating Field has been nerfed" calls with faulty testing/logic behind them over several months (one, which took hours to find, had the tester being buffed between his two test casts, so the 'proof' was completely incorrect) I frankly dismissed it as yet another in the series. That made me have poor diligence in looking into it, which is my fault and for that, I apologize to the community.

Castle man, cheer up, you did a great service to us all by even acknowledging this thread and taking time to poke around and give us answers, good and bad. A lot of us realize that hey, you're human and do the best ya can, like the rest of us, as a defender you have my thanks for this, despite not liking some of the answers, at least we aren't in the dark anymore, so have a brew and smile and keep a stiff upper lip. -

First...I confirm that we're working on right now (as in pohsyb in the next room) to add CoV costume parts into CoH if you own both games....
Then we repeal the hated stealth nerf. The reason why: many well reasoned posts. It's that simple. You guys pointed out the problems.
AND now...we're changing the way Archvillains spawn. A ton of forum goers disliked adding so many AV's into missions a while back...so we've come up with a solution. If the team size and mission difficulty are ABOVE a certain level, an Archvillain spawns. Below that, players will face only an Elite Boss. If the mission is set on the first two levels of difficulty, it takes 4 heroes or more to spawn an Arch Villain. On the third level, 3 heroes or more. On the fourth level, 2 heroes. On the highest (Invincible), a solo hero will spawn an AV. Note this works in BOTH City of Heroes and Villains.
In order to incentivize larger teams, Positron is going to add a bonus to AV rewards!
[/ QUOTE ]
Sweet Munkey Jebus I love you....so can one of the AV rewards be a "Huck Synapse" temp power...ya know like the Red caps do in Croatoa...*has this mental image of a midget dressed like Synapse pounding on some villains head* -
[ QUOTE ]
I said this would happen.
Once they removed drone debt, there was no longer any reason for anyone to fear camping the enemy spawn. Used to be only level 50s would consistantly risk hospital camping but now everyone does it.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but when you had both hero and villain TP foeing each other in front of drones for an easy/greify kill..... I think if they put it back there'd be hell to pay. I remeber my warshade getting max debt because of this tactic. The stalker i was fighting couldn't take me out so just said...run away...port hahahah dead lobster -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, it is a problem on a lot of servers.
I have it on good authority that the Developers are looking to correct the problem. So, I would say, tolerate it as much as you can and petition players for doing it whenever it impacts you.
It isnt likely that the petition will have much effect other then acting as a pointy stick in the Devs ribs... "When you gonna fix this?" poke poke poke
[/ QUOTE ]
I've been a victim of this as well, both as a hero and as a villain, what I've noticed some people do is camp on the upper out croppings of hospitals and tp foe up there, mostly stalkers do this, but yeah it's getting way out fo control on both sides. -

Exactly Strange.
Fact is, numbers and percentages mean jack when your actually fighting mobs of baddies. It doesn't matter what combo of AT's you have. Yes, some combos may work better, but that won't stop the randomness of a baddie getting off that one shot that [Censored] your whole team. AI changed in I5. Mobs are much smarter and can resist much more.
If you are a die hard mmorpg fan, your being bread to goto CoV right now. You will get over to CoV, love the new content and by this time next year, you will be nerfed and bored. Everyone will be PL'd to 50 and we will still be unhappy. Before you know it, CoH doesn't look so bad anymore.
It comes down to agreeing to disagree. Mostly this thread has been arguments about how this update changed the game for us. I have read maybe 3 out of the 40 pages that actually posted helpful things for the rednames to consider changing. Changes that actually made sense.
Not being able to herd on Invinc with just your tank isn't a game breaking change, it can be worked around. So therefore it gets ignored. Say one good thing the power "Burn" did that doesn't have anything to do with achieving great XP and I bet the rednames consider changing it back. The devs are looking to make this game a challenge, it keeps you playing.
I see nothing that a tank could do that a good controller and/or a defender couldn't do anways. I have been on teams where the tank wasn't needed. Except for being the main target. But with good holds and debuffs, it wasn't anything we couldn't handle.
[/ QUOTE ]
No offense, but if they truly want a challenging game, why not go the way they started with the rescur/escort style missions, it was a godo step ini the right direction, and one of the few shinies in the pile of poo that is I5. Content is the way to go not total alteration and alianation. *goes back to Freedom Force where he can actually feel like a hero....despite how hocky the characters are*
