Err, thanks for telling us....

Funnily enough, this is a forum. You'll find a lot of that sort of thing on here. -
I am led to believe that fear is the only mez-type that no Stalker type can resist - is this true?
If it is, I'm sceptical as to how well it would work, I've used it a few times and seen it hit, but the villain has still been able to move away and attack with no apparent ill effects. -

And preventing 1-shotting from AS isn't going to solve anything, because 1-shotting from AS happens so rarely in the first place.

My mind troller regularly gets one shotted - the rarity is actually surviving an AS long enough to be placated... -
Occasionally I have to solo with my mind/empath troller, and it pretty much equals frequent death to me. On the rare occasions that I get to go 1 v 1 with a villain, I find I don't really do enough damage to get an outright kill - I can probably take MMs, and I have dropped a couple of stalkers, but most of my damage comes from one move - levitate. My whole gameplan therefore depends on me keeping someone held with dominates so I can levitate and fear with containment. If the villain has a break free, they're gone and I lose my kill. If the villain does not have a break free, I can usually keep them busy, but when mez suppression hits, they can drop a green and pretty much gain back all the HP I have taken from them before the mez kicks in again. Usually, when I am fighting a villain, a hero will swoop in and finish them off, leaving me with no bounty due to the relatively low amount of damage I can deal.
However: I find I really excel in a team environment, I swoop in, drop dominate and fear, swoop back out to avoid any lurking stalkers and let my more damage orientated team mates take over. When they are pummelling, I swoop back in and top up the dominate, adding a TK for good measure if I think the villain is about to run. My low damage output isn't an issue in this scenario, as I serve two purposes - keeping the target rooted, and healing any teammates who need it, meaning I don't have to worry about not doing enough damage to kill and get my bounty. -
The problems I see are twofold, and like you, I've witnessed this from both sides.
Firstly, playing as my squishy troller, I regularly find myself one-shotted by stalkers. It's got to the point where I don't even care anymore, I've just accepted that it's going to happen - several times. However, is this really PLAYER vs PLAYER? It seems more like "Player suddenly drops dead without warning". The solution? Well tbh, especially when you consider the perception/hide caps, the only real solution to this is to play a character who can take an AS and still stand. This, imho, is why we have a proliferation of Scrappers on the hero side.
However, from my time playing as a villain, I've noticed that there have been situations where 2-3 villains can lay into a Scrapper, and still not get his HP below 70%ish.
In order to make PvP fun for everyone, I think this is where some balancing is required - squishies need to be toughened up a little bit, and the all out attack archetypes need to be reduced a little bit. I'm not advocating this change for PvE, but in a zone such as PvP, it's surely in everyone's interests to balance the characters as much as possible to allow any hero or villain type to have as good as chance as any other?
Maybe capping enhancement slots, in SC for example, would be the answer. As it stands, the exemping seems almost more of a token gesture, especially if higher level players have an advantage through the number of enhancement slots they have.
Ultimately, balancing the archetypes out a bit would probably lead to a bit of whining, mostly from people who can no longer one-shot a hero, or from scrappers who just want to be more uber than anyone else, but I feel it would be good for pvp, and not only would it encourage more players to enter the zones and participate regularly, but would also discourage the practice of only going after the squishies, and totally ignoring any character that looks like it might be a bit of a challenge to kill (this happens a LOT, sadly the villains seem more so guilty of this, but I've also seen swarms of heroes making bee-lines for MMs before), and this will ultimately lead to a much greater archetype diversity within PvP. -
Sorry guys - not looking good on this end
Hoping you can all still make it for 6! -
Hi all!
A little clarification:
Firstly - the start time: I would like to start it a little earlier, however, since 3AM this morning, I've been in working pushing through a systems upgrade at work. This was slated to finish today at 5pm meaning I would be home for 6pm. If this goes quicker, then I will gladly start earlier!
I'll post a revision here at 2PM gmt today, so check back, and if I can get out earlier, I'm happy to start at 4pm GMT rather than 6! If the start time does get pushed forward a little bit, I'll attempt to /tell everyone in game who has expressed an interest in this thread.
Meeting point is indeed Positron - however, if anyone needs help finding the start point, send a tell to @logie and I'll come collect you from wherever is convenient.
Lists for TFs so far:
Positron:
1 - Logie
2 - Knight eye
3 - pryo
4 - Mystic Talon
5 - Ar'cane
6 -
7 -
8 -
Synapse:
1 - Logie
2 - Reborn Phoenix
3 - Electro-Cute
4 - Mystic Talon
5 - Ar'cane
6 -
7 -
8 -
For those that are just in for Synapse, I'll send a tell when we're on the last mission of Positron so you know we're almost there. I'm hoping that we can do Positron a bit quicker than the usual 4 hours, but use that as a guideline... -
I'm currently building a PvP scrapper, and haven't factored build-up in so far (I've only planned up to level 30). However, I feel it may have a benefit if I can get it running pretty much all of the time, but don't want to bother if it's just a quick occasional thing.
How often would I be able to use it if I triple slotted it with hasten? How about six slotted?(Yeah I'm aware of the diminishing returns, but perhaps it might just be enough?)
Also, how about if I throw quickness into the mix? -
I'm looking to run through both of these TFs to aid those, like myself, that missed the TFs originally, and MBar's subsequent replays.
The plan is, we burn through both Positron and Synapse's task forces, ghosting where applicable, with a half hour break in between the two.
There is a potential to get 4 badges with these TFs (more if you pick up some kill mob badges):
Positron TF badge
Syanpse TF badge
Abomination gladiator badge
Kill Babbage badge (spawns as an ambush as part of Synapse)
Open to anyone who meets the TF requirements! -
@Ninja Electrode -
A little bird tells me that he was in PvP last night, and the complaining on broadcast was actually started by you! Can you confirm or deny this? -
I hear it helps a bit with AS? Is this correct?

Jumped into SC one evening just for an hour or so of fun, and found just one other Hero, and about 8-9 villains. For about 20 minutes, the usual 5 on 1 ganking happened - usually consisting of me being mezzed, a brute coming in and wearing me down, and a stalker popping up behind me to steal the kill. I sat there, not particularly happy, but making an effort to bite my tongue, as nobody likes a whiner - be it hero or villain, and if you want fair pvp, that's what the arenas are for, right?
So anyhow, I popped a message out to my sg detailing the pwnage, and before long we had a tidy team of 5 - a blaster, scrapper, 2 trollers and a def. We stayed bunched in a group, with at least 2 tactics working, and were able to see pretty much everything coming for us - wave after wave of villains was smacked down
Eventually, the whining started - mostly from stalkers "Why don't you come and fight us? Why must you stay bunched up?" (I wonder if these were the same stalkers who told complaining heroes that they needed to develop tactics to deal with stalkers - such as teaming with tactics on?)
Eventually, they did the usual villain thing - run far away and congregate on their rock, glowering. After destroying every gun on the rock, a few of them started coming out to fight, but it was mainly the take a few hits and then flee when you don't get a kill back to the base style stuff. It was then that I hit on the idea of confusing the crabs that stand on the top of the base.
There is nothing quite like being in Siren's Call and watching an orange crab sprint after any villains that materialise, blasting red beams at them, and jumping into the bowels of the base to pursuse them. The amusement more than made up for the lack of bounty due to the pesky scared villains -
My SG is kind of in it's death throes at the moment, so is there any chance I can tag along as an outsider?
-
Any chance you can link me to save me having to use actual effort to look for them?

After arriving at level 40, I have realised that although I've experienced a lot of things in my time on Union, I've missed out on virtually every task force bar the respec. I tried to do Positron's task force, and joined a team of 7, and despite the fact I got heavily exmped, endured it for a couple of hours. However, task force teams seem VERY hit and miss - all it takes is for one person to die, get [censored] off and leave, before the team slowly starts to crumble. I had to abandon the Positron team after we were reduced to 3 members.
I am, however, still very interested in completing the Task Forces, and I was wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me. Essentially I'm looking for regular pre-arranged teams so we can plough through the Task Force badges. I'm not fussy on arch, experience, powers or particular level, preferring the following prerequisites:
[*]An ability to be online and available at a recurring, pre-arranged time
[*]An ability to be available for the duration of the Task Force
[*]A modicum of sensibility - ie no Leeroys please
[*]Willingness to be auto-exemped for the lower task forces
[*]Zero tendency to quit with "Got to go, SG stuff, Thx for team. K Bye" or other similar excuses as soon as the going gets tough
So if anyone is up for it, either tap me up on personal message through the forum, or via @Logie on Union, and we'll try and work out something regular!
