  1. Thanks for all the awesome work. Best wishes wherever your feet may land.

You were awesome. Thanks so much for all your work on the powers and especially interacting with us on the forums ABOUT the powers.

And Babs is in here too! Wow. $$%$%<. It is the end of the world.

You rock also. You all rock. Man. I'm getting choked up here.

    Thanks for everything. Fish, etc.

    I'm so confused right now.

    Angry.

    Sad.

    More confusion.

May be the wrong place to post this? I dunno, I never got the hang of the new forum layout.

[edit: found the right post to lament in, ignore this, since it wouldn't let me delete.]

Endurance is practically a non-issue if I stand in the middle of the "Life Giving Spores", and they provide some nice healing to everyone while I wait for my cone heal to recycle.

I am still learning how to best use "Wild Growth" and "Wild Bastion". "Growth" seems to be the type of thing I want to use all the time (or at least as much as it is available), and "Bastion" seems to be a pretty good "Panic Button" as well as a good buffer for an expected tough fight like an EB.

"Growth" seems like it should be pretty easy permeable, but "Bastion" looks like it will require significant investment to do so (if it is even possible).

The pets hit hard, but seem to take damage pretty easily too, so as I said that keeps me pretty active. I will definitely be taking this character into the mid 30s to see if I will enjoy her enough to bother with IOs and sets.
Wild Growth is fairly easy to perma. It doesn't stack, so a recast just resets duration.

It depends on what you mean by "perma" with bastion. Assuming your pets don't take any damage, at very high recharge you can refresh the absorb as soon as it fades naturally, IIRC. I *think* the absorb lasts 60s - but I could be wrong.

Generally, I throw out bastion as soon as it recharges - I do all 3 together actually, OG->bastion->wild so I basically pause for ~8s or so to buff every 60s (Note: Wild Growth has a longer duration, so you don't have to do this, I just do them together so I don't forget).

Overgrowth can be perma'd as well, but it's a lot of work & IMHO getting it down to <10s recharge is fine.

Good choice. IMHO, /time is the absolute strongest secondary to pair with nin/. Other secondaries may be stronger *in general* or with other primaries, but I haven't seen anything work as well with nin/ (and I've tested most of them). You'll want to go nin/time/mace for power boost so you can cap their defenses if you want to see how strong nin/ can be in ideal conditions.

If so, I will definitely be buying at least a dozen procs tonight . At 25%...maybe I'll pick up 3 or 4, but at least a few. Thanks Alpha Wolf! I can actually see a reason for discounting the entire set more than the individuals. I would prefer the 50/33 and 25/15 points to 50/25 and a potential 25/10 though .

Agreed, I would get 2 pieces from the sets I need, and that's it. I don't think I've bought a single sbo since they made the sales "sets only" (I bought a couple sets at an earlier sale, thinking I just might have some use for the whole set...still waiting for that use).

All in all, I suppose I shouldn't complain because whoever made that decision is saving me money .

    This.

Especially considering that you can't store them in your base... so, in addition to all the other junk that I don't want (I wish I could set all the insps to auto-delete, but I do realize that some people like those) in my mailbox, I also have several pieces of SBO sets just hanging out hoping I'll have some use for them today because I can't bring myself to destroy something I paid for just to get a different piece or two of that set.

I didn't wind up needing it at all, did the alpha arc and patron, and tested malta and cot up to +1/4. Either I was steamrolling, or mezzed and dead, not really any in between or any time where that heal would have helped me.

That being said, I found I didn't need tactics and dropped it for the heal... still haven't used it :P.

The build I leveled up with wound up being /psi because I hadn't unlocked patrons yet... Domination helped so much against mezzer lts and to stack with the hold aura... I really miss it. Here's my current build, which I swapped to to try and deal with the end issues I was having (yes, even with a nigh-perma ~4x% end red from overgrowth, I still ran out of end - after getting killed a few times that way, I opted to try another angle) :

I found RoF not particularly useful without a slow, so I dropped that too. So far, I've found the only thing the set really lacks to "gel perfectly" to me is a slow - either on the debuff toggle OR as an added effect on the buff toggle, either would be sweet.

I'm thinking that with i24 I'm going to pick up the Leadership +recov power and switch back to a patron/epic with a hold. Dunno, we'll see if I still need that after I get to clarion.

[edit: aside from just enough trials to get me to +3, I don't team much, so if something isn't of use to me solo I generally get rid of it.]
  16. They're both going to be really solid AND pair especially well when you're comfortable being up close with your pets.

My /nature is only 32, so I can't speak to the final strengths yet, but /time is *really* strong with melee pet sets (strong all around). Both have HoT effects, which really stand out/go well with MM pets. Both have solid protection buffs. The amount of damage they put out should be close at high recharges - time has a -22.5% resist debuff and nature has a 49.5% dmg buff. On a 50pt attack slotted with 100% dmg, this gives you 129 points on a /time and 124 points on a nature. In the long, long run /time will benefit more from +dmg but... meh. The nature buff will be easier to keep up (I think) not to mention it has the tasty end reduction bufff... I think time may be "easier" because its pbaoe defense aura is *so* good and directly compliments its +def buff, but I'm not yet convinced that the difference will be vast. Ask me again in a couple weeks .

So far, the absorb and extra resist is playing really well on my /nature mm, but I'm demons and they have decent resists to start with.

For comparison's sake, the exact same build:

    DEFENDER:
*35% e/n & 34% ranged def, ~15% def to the rest. 69% s/l res, 72% cold res, 26-31% for all the other resists.
*7s downtime on Overgrowth (160% global recharge).
*+110% bonus damage without Vigilance (140% solo). This is a 373 point blazing bolt teamed with no other buffs or 409 point solo, compared to a blaster's 409 points (with 3dmg sos). Obviously the blaster will go much higher with buffs.
    *406% regen

    CORRUPTOR:
    *33% e/n & 32.1% ranged def, ~13% def to the rest. 53% s/l res, 57% cold, 20-25% for all the other resists
    *7s downtime on Overgrowth
+94% bonus damage with a 406 point blazing bolt.
*406% regen (strange, I assumed this # should be lower, but wild growth has the same regen # for both in mids).

I could go for defcap or higher resist or perma overgrowth but instead I went for a middle of the road type build. I'm curious to see how it will play out. I may remove tactics if it's overkill, but I'm going to take it to start until I get the whole build together to fill in the Overgrowth downtime & keep perma-snipe. Hopefully I'll be able to drop it for Regrowth or something in the final.

  21. Most of my old screenshots are just character shots, but I did manage to find this one with someone herding hydras in the background:

This is sometime before issue 1.

Ahh, found one more that is relevant... apologies if the pose is a little crude... it's the only one I could find. My wife used to love making naked characters. More than playing. She especially liked this one because she was naked...with a monocle! (Wish I could find a pic of the front).

It was a pretty big letdown to find out afterwards that no other game allowed you to have that much control and herding abilities.
Definitely the ability to fight so many foes at once was one of the things that made CoH special. It really made you feel powerful.

Then, there was the really silly stuff, like early punchvoke (?I think that's what it was. I remember the bug but not the exact cause.?) allowing you to aoe mobs that were stacked (like say, after jumping a wall.... <.<) with single target attacks. Suicide by massive Energy Transfer was silly.

Energy Manipulation can get there with Tactics + Kismet + Perma Power Boost (300% recharge), OR it can cycle between some combination of Aim, Build Up, and Power Boost for less recharge (depending on your primary/secondary)

Other than that, everyone else is going to depend on cycling Aim/Build up, unless there's something obvious I am completely missing to finish off the last 5% To-Hit you would need. I guess you could always just strap a defender to your back as well.
There are a couple +tohit procs that can help out as well, as long as you aren't obsessed with it being perma. Decimation chance for build up goes in ranged attacks & Analyze Weakness (could be wrong on name, it's been a while) goes in things that take accurate defense debuff.
  24. I'm confused. Was there already one of these for bio? Bio has actually gone through some decent revision and review on Beta... nature, not so much.
  25. At some point in the past, when a set went on sale, you could buy individual pieces at sale prices. Last time I checked, the individuals were not marked on sale - which I find really, really obnoxious. (Pretty much the only things I'd ever buy would be single procs).

Does anyone know if this is just policy now, or was that a fluke?
