"That's the reason I am alone... I don't need bodyguards in Pocket D. And I hate pleasing you at the moment.", her hand tightened around the corner of the wooden table leaving claw marks on it.
-
"No... I know what it says!", she waved the offer away and sipped of her Bloody Mary.
"And yes... I know them both. So the Coorporation sends in Headbreaker! Was Sebastian out of town?" -
"Indeed he has...", Elizabeth picked up the opened envelope she had found on top of her destroyed mail box. "Lets see if it says the same..."
---------------------------------
Dear Countess Bathory
You are invited to attend Dr Mechano's seminar on villainy to be held in Pocket D tiki lounge.
The dress code is informal.
The time of this seminar will be at 8pm on the 15th of January, please be punctual.
Yours Doctor Mechano
Muwahahaha.
---------------------------------
"Especially the maniac laughter he placed below his signature comes over like a sound mind.", she bit her lip a bit and a drop of blood appeared.
"Pocket D... He is not mad enough to meet us in the open." -
Elizabeth Báthory entered the Tiki lounge. She did what she could keeping her anger in-check. At the bar she ordered a Bloody Mary Vampire special. She was still glad that pocket D served blood mixes. Otherwise she would go haywire controlling herself.
Elizabeth never understood the concept off 'casual clothing' as the invitation had mentioned. She was wearing a long black dress with matching black strappy high-heeled shoes... on her neck her demon-god head pendant was hanging.
Seeing Edward at his table she walked up to him and sat down. "Mechano... I am used to talking to dead men. And you are no exception. What do you want?" -
"You mean... aside from the werewolf standing behind you ready to ripp you to pieces?!", she answered... then turned around and tuned the television in on the news. Images of Sisarose mansion and the huge sign flashed up alongside attacks on several super hero organizations in Paragon City.
"I believe we have a common problem at the moment?"
She looked Pistol straight in her eyes... "You look good Alicia! Much better then the last time I saw those eyes... when they where in a severed head in Romanov's sanctum. Now put those things away before you hurt anyone." -
The rage slowly making place for the cold-blooded aristocrat Elizabeth realized that even the Rogue Isles would send in people to investigate a car bomb. That would mean people entering the building who had no place in it.
She walked up to wards one of her black mirrors and started to chant in latin... Her brow showed a good amount of concentration. Slowly the entrance to the crypt seemed to disappear, covered by a well-forged illusion. It would mean that she would remain a constant concentrated state of mind just to uphold it, but if all goes well she would not have to remain it up very long.
As expected the fire department and a few journalists arrived not even 40 min later. With them was an Arachnos official. And Arbiter Donck didn't look very happy.
The first fire-men entered the building to check if there where any casualties accompanied by a para-medic as there seemed to be no fire. The inside was shaken but the structure was sound. They checked the elaborated dining room and the bed chambers. Then the rest of the house but couldn't find any sign of the owners. Indeed it seemed as if it was't occupied.
"All clear!", One of them screamed out of a shattered window to wards the Arbiter.
Donck checked the car... "hmm... Obviously a car bomb. Why would anyone want to blow up one here?" He picked up his phone and called the office. "He Leon, make sure that the owners of the houses damaged by this incident are warned. And we will see if any of them press charges to anyone. Especially the owner of this building I am in front off. It has suffered the most damage. I am out of here. Can't be arsed for every bomb going off."
---
Leon started to make calls to the current house-sales offices. And soon learned it had been sold a little over 2 years ago to an anonymous woman. "Ha... only in the Rogue Isles would this be possible. As long as they pay enough no-one cares who you are.", he said to himself.
---
The office manager of 'Brian & Brian' layed down the horn. "Listen up all... One of the buildings from our accounts has been damaged. I want the owner warned and get me our insurance company on line 3!", he let his staff know.
---
Elizabeth looked up when she heard her cell phone ring. It was a very fashionable red phone that looked a little out of place for a vampire of her standard. And indeed it belonged to her as her human alter-ego Elizabeth Thabyro. She was expecting a call but acted like she was back in Paragon City... oblivious of any news.
"Yes... Countess Thabyro here. Who is this?", she said picking it up.
An insecure and little nervous voice on the other side of the line reacted, "My excuses countess... I am from 'Brian & Brian'. I know we would avoid any contact if possible, but the house you owned in the Etoil Islands had been damage by what seems to be a car bomb. The local authorities want to know if you would want to press charges? And 'Brian & Brian' would like to have an 'ok' on the further insurance and repair work?"
Elizabeth acted as shocked as she could... "Of course I want repairs to start as soon as possible! No, I can't press charges... to whom would I make them then? As far as I know I don't have any enemies! Ask those law-enforcers of Arachnos."
She pauzed for a second... "You haven't told my name to them like we agreed, I hope?!"
The employee started to sweat a bit... "No of course not countess. We agreed you would stay anonymous, and you still are. 'Brian & Brian' is an professional compagny."
"Good... good...", Elizabeth answered. "Now make it so!"
Jack entered the room. The werewolf had been sleeping the afternoon away but had woke up from the sound of the explosion. His hearing so much stronger then humans, even while looking like one of them. "Anything I can do Elizabeth?", he asked while looking at her troubled face.
"No, it's OK Jack. The right people are making sure repairs will start soon and the entrance to the crypts and sub-base section is hidden by a strong illusion... Which, by-the-way, is giving me a splitting head-ache!"
"Although... I did find out who is responsible. Can you try and fetch Dr. Mechano for me please. I like to have a word with him." A grim smile appeared on her face showing her fangs. -
Deep in the crypts beneath the building façade that was the visible section of Castle Báthory Elizabeth felt the tremors.
What in the Dark lords name was that!, she called out and started walking back to wards the castle sub-basement section. Her long blood-red gown almost seemed to move of itself while the vampire started to pick up pace. She passed a recently captured female Longbow agent who was shackled to the wall. Barely conscious the half-naked, tortured and repeatable bled woman saw the shocked expression on the countess and couldnt hide a brave smile No..t not that untouchable I hear vampire!
At the staircase Elizabeth saw the entrée hall to the sub-section filled with dust. Small rubble was everywhere in the room and up the stairs. Obviously part of the blasted wall had crashed on it. Slowly she walked up to see the damage using the shadows to stay almost invisible. A good part of the front of the building was destroyed. The heavy wooden door was completely blown away and there was glass everywhere. Not one of the windows in the street had remained intact.
Bloodlust and rage slowly took over . Who dares! WHO DARES!!!!, she hissed by herself.
A quick glance made her realize it was a car bomb. Fuming with anger she walked back towards her sanctum sanctorum again passing the longbow female who now half-mad started to laugh at the sight of Elizabeths rage. The Countess Báthory stopped for a second and held up the head of the female then trusted her hand like a knife inside the body grabbing the heart ripping it out in one movement.
At her sanctum she opened one of the books in search of a spell and took a bite from the still warm heart in her free hand. She had to find out who had done this!
The black cauldrons water reflected her face but started to change the moment she threw in the heart mumbling the spell of revelation. The surface changed and showed the face of Edward very smitten with himself, grinning from ear to ear.
Mechano! I know thee , she hissed followed with some curses in medieval Hungarian. -
Yup.. it is still working as should be... The Court usually flucturate about the 9-11 rank.
-
There is one more reason... maybe...
All is being done to make it impossible to make a duplicate of one of the signature heroes/villains. Would this cape mean you could create a Ghost Widow? -
The hostages and elevator bug is really annoying. It can happen almost always when youre in a team or as MM. For some reason the chance of it happening faster with the Recluse Strike Force is bigger. I have even seen the hostages walk on air and through buildings there. This is going on for ages now and is a reason several RSF teams quitted.
The defeat all problem is directly based on the fact the engine makes it possible to fall or walk inside walls. Only a new engine that makes toons vs. map really solid in all aspects will solve this bug.
Some missions are specificly build to make you travel the whole world it seems. The cape mission hero side is ridiculus easy compaired to villain side but the travelling is simply crazy. I just did it again on my blaster (who can fly). From memory... Atlas - Galaxy - Skyway - Independence Port - Talos and aside from Galaxy they are all miles away. Especially IP... that one is on the other side of the map. -
origins...
An alien that has the same abilities as every one in his race is a natural. Like Kryptoneans. If not enhanced with anything extra.
An alien using tech is still tech origin. If the tech is the source of the powers used.
An alien enhanced by chemical or biochemical means by either its own race or anything else is science origin.
An alien that has learned to use magic or has his abilities from a magical device / artifact is magic origin.
An alien that diverses from its race due to a genetic anomality is a mutant.
The rules are rather simple actually -
Mission Creator will give that available to heroes then.

The best way is what you can see happening in the Highlander movies. Immortality brings a constant problem of stealth.... Unless you want to be a. Worshipped like a god or b. Hunted down like a monster and being killed. Both my toons retained their human look at things. They are natural curious about new inventions. But sometimes can forget what age they are in. Time goes so fast for them... Like older people they tend to keep a lot of their old values. And it takes them slightly more time to manage totally new stuff. While old things they may be specialized in hold no value in the new world.

Well, that's your opinion of what's 'best' for an immortal character.
Personally, I got sick and tired of the angst hanging over GG around the time I created Jason Caine and decided to make the world's first happy immortal. Cursed to live forever unless he can redeem himself for an act of mass murder, Jason has been around for 8000 years. He hasn't seen everything, because the world is always changing and, frankly, transport wasn't exactly up to much until the last century. He adapts perfectly happily to the world changing around him, because time passes for him at exactly the same speed as everyone else. He has a big vocabulary and likes to speak a bit like a courtier or something, but then, frankly, the same can be said of Shadowe, who is rather younger. It's an affectation, not a product of his nature. (Oh, he's never quite got the hang of all this same sex relationship stuff. He didn't think much of it in Athens, he's not going near it today. He is a live-and-let-live sort of guy though, so if that's you're bag, then go for it.)
The most significant point about him, though, is that after 8000 years, he's got pretty used to the fact that people die. He grieves for the death of friends and loved ones, but he doesn't let that stop him finding new friends and loved ones because, and here's the important bit, there are always more of them coming along and not enjoying those new people for fear of losing them is stupid.
Oh, and as for hiding your immortaility, well Jason really doesn't care any more. Someone dumped a cliff on him in the 19th Century and he didn't get out until the 20th, and suddenly there's flying humans all over the place. Compared to that, living a long time seems pretty trivial, so Jason will generally be fairly free with his age, or dropping hints about being at Waterloo, or having bedded one of the Medicis. If people want to worship him over it, he'll tell them to stop being idiots. If they want to hunt him for it, well, that would be very stupid of them.
There isn't, ever, a best way to play something. There are usually some ways that are really bad, but there's not a best way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok... I can agree with that. As the current world has so many super powered beings that hiding a power like immortality isn't really needed anymore.
Being used to people dying is also normal.... being used to seeing friends die would be different for each person and his/her way of handling those kind of feelings.
Elizabeth is a psychotic torturer and wouldn't care for a second. Nightseye is a priestress... a commuter... She would always miss every friend that died to soon. She is also much much older. Around the same age as youre toon although born in Ancient Egypt.
It is impossible to be everywhere and see everything. As you stated... transport and communication was bad overall. What youre character would have seen would largely be defined to what he would search out or where he would find himself by accident.
Nightseye already acted as super hero even back in Ancient Egypt. And as Avatar of the godess Bast keeper of secrets she was never open in things that wouldnt concern others. -
First thing I noticed is that avatars of gods, gods, or immortals should always retain human emotions and therefore the ability to go insanly wrong in judgement.
This is what makes it possible for Marvel to have Thor and Hercules (or even Odin) walk around and make them interesting. It is what gives them a goal to reach... A god with an uber-ego and worshippers all over the place has no business on Earth. Unless its to obtain more worshippers.
A character which is very powerfull might use a boasting ego to hide their vulnerabilities. Liz is immortal... a vampire... a witch... with a uge ego. But her immortality is bound to her being a vampire. Vampire weaknesses are very well known. And a witch, warlock or sorcerer may be able to do virtual anything but are / should be limited to do that only after research or preperation. Incantation is often requered. Make Dr. Strange unable to speak/incantate and you remove over 70% of his power.
(Virtual) immortal characters bring with them another problem. These character have seen and experienced so many. They lived through lives of others and saw their former friends and lovers die of old age. I have two immortal characters and struggled with how to play them.
Immortality is not al-knowing.
In the end it comes down to the god that can interact with people at their own level or the one that is all-knowing and all-powerful and knows that of himself. Making him/her above all else and everything. This will become a character that looks upon people like ants. And who talks/interacts with an ant?
The latter will be boring and a danger to youre own concept. As Dante made very well clear. -
This TF can be done with almost all comboes of AT's... But...
It failed everytime people leave/give up because of dying a few times.
It is essential that you dont lose more then 1-2 members before coming to the last mission. Then start to use youre head. Tactics has to be made up according to the team build. Is there someone that can spam -regen..? like Howling Twilight. How is the damage output? Is Vengeance available?
Worst case scenario... Attack full front and have the whole team target one of the Freedom Phalanx at once. You get killed... but that one you targeted will be dead too. You get back... and redo with next member. This tactic will also get you a debt badge -
This is soo borked... If I am on my day job.. I am NOT on Patrol. If dayjobs where designed for rp-effect, at least make sure it works like that.
It would also make it very easy for players to have control on the DXP -
This would instantly give a huge input to the variation of the civileans out on the streets. Which would also make it more alive.
Would be incredibly busy in some area's though... where lots of people logg for the day job. -

I must say it is useless power. If u are so keen of flight take air superiority not hover. Otherwise if u like to have it just for 2.5% def bonus use combat jumping instead. At least it gives u immobilize protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have it on all my concept flying squishies. It is fantastic...
Useless you say?
- Rise above melee for almost no endurance cost
- Added defence to all
- Knock Back Protection
- Uneffected by -fly powers (most seem to forget that, its rather new)
Slot Swift with a fly, and add one fly at least to hover and you are ok with speed. Toggle between fly and hover when out or in combat.
Only my flying tanker and scrapper went for air superiority and fly. Basically they dont need the hover defence. But then you have to slot 2 or 3 endurance reductions on fly. Or you get drained of endurance. -

The slow defence item itself is found in the "defence" list of the middle/2nd lvl workbench.
It is a set size (one plot square) and it also has a small device smack in the center >_< in the pic i've hidden them beneath/in the lights - also as you can see they tile very nicely.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well.. I completely had to rebuild the bathroom to be able to place this defencive item... but managed it.
The center piece I placed above a stone so it looks like a soap box.
Some tile sets for floor will make the field be white instead of transparant shimmering... Remember that. Too bad the field isnt colorable. -
[ QUOTE ]
Use one of the items that stack out from the walls (a light and a grey cabinet that I know of there may be more) and then build them through the TP or its location, stick the beacon to the TP and then remove the stacked item.
Going to have to try the slow field thing asap, and maybe post a few shots from my base which is no way near as nice as any of those posted here.
Q:
How do you get different SG logo items in the same base, every time I try when I change the logo the items change too?
[/ QUOTE ]
I noticed that after you place the items in the base and then change the logo the items already placed retain the logo they had. So... change logo SG to what you want.. place item.. then change logo back. -
That list holds a tip on how to manage that I will try out tonight... Place on the wall next to it on the level you want it... then drag on that sam elevel to the wall you want it.
When you dont change the level its on... it is said to work.
Hope this is a good workaround myself... -
[ QUOTE ]
The problem with the base editing, in particular the placing of items on 2 sides (east and south I think) is rather annoying, but you can get around this until it is fixed by getting the height you want on one of the other two walls and moving the item onto the wall you want at that height, since it won't change height on those walls it'll stay at the height you set.
[/ QUOTE ]
This will help a lot.. thanks for the tip.
