  1. I think they should have a randomizer on the door sound effects.

Maybe one could be a squeak, another could be a fart or a burp, another could be a dog-bark and/or a cat's meow. We could even see if we could get the license to some of the sound effects from Starcontrol 2, and have the door call us names when we open it.

I see many potentials in this train of thought...

The stated server down time is 9 am to 11 am EST. This happened before hand, and it was unannounced. I see where the OP is coming from. Also seeing it as a patch (I15) and still unannounced makes it even worse.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And just -how- often do we have new Issues pushed to the live servers, either on purpose or not?
    My point still stands...

    [/ QUOTE ]
What point is that, that still stands?

    [/ QUOTE ]
That because this kind of thing so rarely happens that people like the OP tend to blow them out of proportion. Losing a few hours of playtime every YEAR or so for this kind of thing is hardly worth getting that mad at the Devs about.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure your point does stand, to be honest. It's not about the lost playtime, it's about the fact that the customer service team told us (as far as I know) that they would be giving us more and timelier notice, and they haven't. Again, they said one thing and did another, as usual. It's the principle of the thing.

I think the OP is probably inflated, he seems more put out than I would be or would think is reasonable, but I'm not in his head so I can't know his situation. What I can say, though, is that his complaint seems valid, even if you don't agree that it's as big a deal as the OP is making it, it's still a valid thing to complain about.

What he said. Cut back on the coffee.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    He has a point.

We were promised more notice and we didn't get it. It's not that not being able to play is a huge deal or that it's going to ruin his life, it's the principle of the thing.

I think it'd be nice to let the five year vets skip a few early levels...

[/ QUOTE ]Assuming it would allow you to jump to any level up to the limit (for those who only want to skip the first few), where would you draw the line? 20? 30? 50?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd be happy with level 12, for the DOs, but I'd really love 22 for SOs, although I don't really think that's reasonable. If I could start a character anywhere from 10-15 I'd be happy.

    [ QUOTE ]
Wouldn't anything less than 50 cause MORE complaining?

"I can jump to 20, but I want to get to 30!"

"Why do I have to grind the last 20 levels when I just want to get to 50?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Probably.

IMO, the game starts at 22. Up until that point, it's hard to get any sort of feel for how good my characters are going to be in different situations. I think this applies double for team-oriented tankers. Also, pre-stamina, pre-SO's just sucks for kill speed and endurance management outside of a few fringe cases (shakes fist at QR).

Yup, I've said this a number of times over the years.

I dont' start new characters anymore because I'm sick of the 1-22 grind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can make new characters, but I can't actually play them.
    I wanna play Villains >.> But, I can not. I try. I log in - sometimes -.
But, no matter which character I am on. I just can not even get to a mission. I have seen and done everything there is to do. >.< I hate CoV zones. There are so few that once you have done them all (OVER 20 Times) Its neer impossible for me to even look at them.

I am stuck >.< even trying to play CoH right now too thoe. Its not just CoV.

But ya - The whole beginning of the game at this point is like - sticking your hand into your garbage disposal and then making the Conscious decision to flip the switch.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yup, that's how I feel.

Starting a new character, for me, is like an investment. New characters are NEVER fun to play, so I have to grind through a whole lot of boredom to get to the fun part... assumign the character IS fun to play which sometimes they aren't. So starting a new character is a gamble for me. I have to invest a whole lot of time getting them to the point where they're fun to play, in the hopes that said fun materializes. Often it doesn't and I'm left feeling like I wasted my time and I never play that character again.

I wish they'd let veterans just skip some levels...

If you want to try for a "Master" for Statesman I'm in, but short of getting you to PL my brute to the right level (which shouldn't take long, if you're interested), I'm afraid I won't be joining you.

Ya gotta say this for Liv, he's ambitious! Going for the Master of [u]Statesman's[u] TF on his [u]brute[u]!?!

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit - its the only way to be sure. Of course, this will involve multiple strikes on Steel, Atlas and Skyway as well, but any collateral damage is worth wiping this TF off the map - permanently.

[/ QUOTE ]have you done a shard task force? i know posi is bad, most of the launch ones are bad, but have you done a shard tf?

A lot of it comes from the original concept of tf's, they were designed with the pnp gamer in mind, as something for people to do over several nights in a fairly static group, well, things change, pugs and badge groups happened, and the redside and subsequent bleuside tf's start being compact, fun and concise. There are those who like the old tf's, much like some pine for the old hami raid, i personally feel the old tf's and particularly the shard tf's are about as fun as getting my male exclusive bits slammed in a car door, but hey.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually like the shard TFs. They can be a pain in the [censored] with a PuG, but they're great with a bunch of folks that do them often or know what to expect.

I realize the irony in my statement, as that's what people say about the Positron TF but ultimately I find that it doesn't matter how small the team is or how experienced when it comes to Posi, it's never fun for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They still could stand to have 1/3 to 1/2 of the missions removed. It would make almost no difference to the story since so many of them are redundant and cases of "sorry, but your artifact is in another cave."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yah... there's certainly a lot of truth to this. As fun as they are (for me, anyway), a lot of them seem long just for the sake of being long, as though the developers deliberately made them as long as they possibly could, including using those story cudgels you're talking about.

    Long != Epic.

  17. I don't have many left from that far back, but I did have a number of really tasty ones from Friggin_Tazer. We didn't just squabble on the forums, we took it out on each other over PM as well.

I have others from posters I don't get along with, telling me what a giant jerk I am, and even a few saved responses where I tell them where they can stick it.

Mostly my "interesting" PMs are all drama.

The Positron TF is annoying and off-putting, as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the most grinding, irritating experiences in the game.

Even when done by a small group of experienced players who know what they're doing, it's still one of the most oppressive activities in the game. I'd rather do any other TF than Positron, to the degree that the only characters that have that TF are my mains and only for the TF commander accolade.

That TF has absolutely no redeeming value whatsoever. It's not fun, it's boring and long, especially if you're lower than 14th. It's not "challenging" it's just plain hard. In a game with so many really awesome, fun TFs this one sticks out like a sore thumb as the one to be avoided at almost any cost.

I have noticed neither an uptick nor a decrease in the number of n00bs since i14.

What I can tell you is that there were lots and lots before i14. Given those realities, it seems unlikely that the MA system is truly repsonsible for virtually ALL the n00bs we run into. They would have been n00bs with or without AE.
