I've never had much luck with drops. In my entire time of playing I've had less than a dozen Purple Recipes. That's just sad.
I have noticed an increase in Temp Power drops...which is quite annoying, and a decrease in anything of value. It bugs me that I get so many of these now. They're not even worth selling.
This is all a bit annoying but I think the bigger problem is the status of Salvage drops. If anyone has been on the market lately, they've noticed a price change in Rare Salvage. For the longest time, these Rares went for about 1.5 million infl and stayed there. Now they're going to 2.5-3million, that's double they're "normal" value.
Not such a big deal when you look at it at first, but some of these pieces are not only becoming more expensive to purchase, but they're becoming hard to come by, causing some of these to even sell for over 10mil. Granted, players are basically price gouging, but this would not be possible if the supply of these Rares wasn't as bad as it's been. Several pieces number fewer than 150. Magical Conspiracy was as low as 10. TEN total! There is no way that after years of a stable market with supply and demand normalizing to a price of 1.5mil can it suddenly double artificially. Obviously, the demand remains, and the supply has plummeted.
With the supply of Rare Salvage at a low, players will resort to farming AE tickets, plain and simple. And those "mega-farmers" will have all the control of the market. Rare salvage will become increasingly more rare on the market, and the farmers will supply as needed, asking ridiculous prices for the pieces commonly needed for the better recipe's.
Of course this will, in turn, drive up the price of recipe's as well.
Anywho, this can all be prevented with a little tweak to the drop rate. Increase the Rare Salvage drop rate. And help us out a little with these stupid Temp Powers and give us something worthwhile. Maybe a decent increase on those Purples from AV's or something. Besides, to keep people intersted in content you need to make it worth their while. A high chance for a Purple Drop for the AV on a TF would help draw people back to playing more of this game than has been done as of late. -
Looking at Mid's...seems Roderick is correct. The Proc affects the target. It's +20% Regen and a +7.5% End. I THINK the 7.5% End occurs in PvP and PvE. The +20% Hit Points (PvE bonus) would be MUCH more desirable for PvP than Regen...UNLESS all you're doing is 1v1 or 2v2. Any large team spike should take 2-3 seconds (8-10 in sloppy modern PvP) which would easily overcome the Regen you've granted to your target.
So personally, in 1v1 or 2v2 builds...go ahead. In large team PvP builds its a sad waste of 2bil infl. -
Gladiator's Armor: +Res (Teleportation), +3Def
This is a lvl 50 Recipe. Asking 2bil. Please send an in-game email to "@Liquid -" or to "Cuddles the Kitten" -
I've got a [Power:Crafted Panacea: Healing.50] for sale.
I'd like to trade this and avoid the market fees. I'm asking 2bil influence. I'm open to hearing about purple trades but I'm more after the money. I prefer a face-to-face trade and I'm on Champion.
I don't check the boards often at all so send me an in-game email to @Liquid -
Notice the dash in my name. -

Thank you.
So now another question...maybe i missed it on that link. Is there a way to make the bind effective for all chat channels (ie. team, coalition, local, broadcast)? -
I noticed awhile back that my keybinds for custom chat colors no longer worked correctly. I shrugged it off after a couple attempts to fix them to no avail.
Now I'm trying to create them again but I'm not having any luck.
Here's an example of what I've been doing:
/bind enter beginchat "<color #ff33cc><border #330066><bgcolor #00000011>"
This results in a clear background (black w/ max translucency), black border (wrong), and pink text saying "<color #ff33cc>".
Anyone know how to fix this? -
I'm gonna go stick myself in the eye with a burning coal...or maybe lay down one the freeway for a bit...
I can't believe the Elk spoke English. And I can't believe I (mostly) agree with him.
The Devs didn't create high prices at the markets...we did. And I would be frustrated too if I couldn't count past 3 or 4. All those zeroes following other strange numbers can be intimidating. I wish things were a little cheaper, sure, but playing the market can make alot of IO's affordable real quick.
Other than that Elk...I'd say you just had your first good idea. I'm almost proud of you...you goon. -
I happen to have a Pure Emp. It's one of the most sought after Emps on my server. The toon was lvld and built in a traditional non-PL fashion and I learned the VERY basics of my Empathy pwrs by doing this. I also learned to solo albeit every slowly. I eventually copied the Emp to the test server where it was respec'd and given a 200mil dollar build. Back then, that was expensive. The thing was tricked out with IO sets to the teeth, hauled *** around the maps, had awesome resistances, and hit 2477hp with a Power Boosted Absorb Pain. This build had the single mandatory attack and it wasn't even present in my power trays. Why? PvP.
This was a standard PvP build. Call it cookie cutter if you want, but it was necessary to fulfill its role for the team. Having learned to roll this build rather well on test server, I then respec'd the live build. Granted, it's not as tricked out, as the money just isn't there to do it but the build is the same...it just lacks some set bonuses.
So now that I've become proficient in using this build to it's fullest, I am able to take a good team and make it great. I can make a bad team successful. I can roll it into the most difficult TF's and come out with a Master's. All this because I was brought onto the team for one reason: make the team an enduring death machine. And that's what I do. It's all I do. You will never see me taking my eye off the health bars and buff icons. If there are fewer than 4 Fortitudes going I'm slacking. I will not be seen casting an attack while one of my teammates is going down. And I will not be distracted from my role on the team by getting caught up in something other than a heal or a buff.
Fine if that's not for you. Play the Emp your way. That's why we have options. Most PUGS don't know the difference anyway. Just don't expect to stay on my team long when I invite you for your ALL you Emp abilities and you're not producing results. I recruit Tanks to be meat shields. I recruit Blasters to kill. Trollers better be holding/debuffing/buffing (they're the smartest players btw) everything. And if I see a man go down on my team while your Emp is attacking, don't cry when you get the boot. Don't make me ask/tell you to keep the CM and Fort flowing. And don't let me see those End bars dropping cuz you have AB and an RA that you better have mastered so well that you can drop that in the middle of a fight and hit the players who need it most (timing and free-flow movement).
Are my standards high? Yes. Is this the RIGHT way to play? No...but there is no right or wrong. But if you want that ever-yearned-for-recognition...well...my toon can Emp better than yours can. What did you expect with your build?
If you think I'm full of it, then look me up on Champion (@Liquid -). Put me to the test. Play suicidal. But I won't Rez you...I won't need to.

Anyone ever load of their fluffy with a bunch of procs?
I threw this together in Mids and was wondering what effect the procs have. These should proc any time the fluffy casts a relevant pwr, right?
Ghost Widow's Embrace: Chance for Negative Dmg
Touch of the Nictus: Chance for Negative Dmg
Unbreakable Constraint: Chance for Smashing Dmg
Neuronic Shutdown: Chance for Psionic Dmg
LVL 50 Acc IO (x2)
Suggestions? The only pets I've ever had are imps so I'm not used to a multifaceted pet. -

Chance for Build Up (both Gaussian and Decimation) give a 0% buff if it's user is exemplared when it goes off (regardless of relative level to the IO). The buff works properly if it's user is not exemplared.

I've got Decimation BU slotted in Mental Blast (Psionic) but it hasn't proc'd yet...and I slotted the thing a week ago.
Any known issues with Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge? -
Hey Arcas...
Keep an eye out for an all TA team on Champion. We gather on Tuesday nights. The toons are TA/anything, but most are TA/Arch.
There is no common SG, but we are all Pingus. We started a few weeks ago and only do this once a week. We're probably around lvl 17 by now. It started rough but we're starting to get rollin' as we are now finding our roles on the team. We have our obvious "blasters", and two "emps" (TA/arch) with the medicine pool.
Healing Arrow FTW! -
PLEASE READ THIS GUIDE!!
I know its's long but we've had a swell of new players recently. This is a MUST READ!
I'm simply bringing this thread to the forefront again because it seems I've found myself on so many dreadful teams lately. I've been playin with my lvl 30 Emp alot and I find myself running between 2 places on the map trying to keep 2 groups alive. People, follow the tank...not the blaster. Stay together, stay tight. Play hard and play smart. -
Another team worth mentioning as I came across it in PvP and think it was a bug:
Bullets Merc/FF MM
BulIets Merc/FF MM
BuIIets Merc/FF MM
I may be wrong about the Merc thing, they may be ninjas. Anyway, looking at thoses names in the games own font, they all look the same. How do you target one for bounty? To make it worse they've named ALL of their pets Bullets! To make it MORE worse they themselves look exaclty like their pets! And as if ONE wouldn't be bad enough, trying to target the player while there are three of them with the same name AND their pets is next to impossible. To top it off they have have the teleport pool.
What does a player do when they get ported into the mob of 15+ lookalikes all wanting you dead? Run? Yes, but then when you get ported back by the other player...and run again, and get ported again...it's an endless cycle. I learned to accept the first TP and take a free ride to the hospital.
I hate them..cuz I'm a hero...and a victim. But I tip my hat to them for creating the most effective death trap I've seen on this game. -
Though I've been on many excellent teams, including all controller teams, where no one takes damage cuz everyone is held, I have to say the most efficient team system I've worked in was a 2 scrapper/ 2 troller team.
From my late 20's to about 40 I ran Paragon with the same 3 guys (ok one was a girl), and yes I'll give out their names.
Netherworlder: DM/Rgn Scrapper
Poison Princess: Spine/Rgn Scrapper
Lucid Dream: Ill/Kin Controller
and myself, Twilight Girl: Mind/Kin Controller
This was quite simple and having 2 Kins, things went incredibly fast. After a double dose of speed boost, our two killers would rush in together both using any combination of AoE or single attacks. At this point the Ill troller has sent in his pets while Mind is casting AoE/Cone holds. The next move for the trollers was Transfusion and Tranference wich completely negated any damge and endurance lost by the two scrappers while in their innitial onslaught. For the most part several kills had already been made by this point, and a few single holds/attacks from us and clean up from the scrappers was all we needed.
As time went on we worked in dual Fulcrum Shifts, Mass Confuse, and Phantom Army. The killing would happen so fast at times, that 2 cycles through my powers was but a distant dream.
The combination of 2 Speed Boosts, 2 Fulcrum Shifts, 2 Tranfusions, and 2 Tranferences meant no pain, no endurance loss, capped dmg, and incredible recharge and end recovery. Having a Dark and Spines scrapper didnt slow things down either considering their abilty to deal consecutive attacks faster than the other scrappers. Their already quick damage output was so heavily increased with speed boost. And the fact that they were both regens with a double dose of the third most powerful heal in the game meant that death wasnt even a consideration. Enemies rarely ventured toward the trollers, having 2 blood thirsty killers and an array of pets to sift though first. And even if one of us squishies managed to take a hit, a quick run into melee + Transfusion x 2 = full health.
Ah, I miss those days.
Now I'm trying to work out a system that involves 3-5 blasters. My friends are blaster happy at the momment so that's what we have to work with. i'm sure I'll find something on this thread about that though.

Knowing your team:
One thing I did not see you mention (though I may have just missed it) that I try to do when recruiting is to know each teammates power sets. Unless I'm looking for something specific, I don't care what they are before I've sent the invitation to join. But as soon as they join and are in my zone I right-click/info.
Know their powers, especially their primaries and or anything significant like Recall Friend, leadership, Rez, snipe, taunt, grant invis. The more you know about your team, the better you can use effective tactics. Not only that, but giving someone a specific role can make them feel more involved. Saying things like "OMG, you have CM! We needed that last mission so bad. Can you make sure to stay on top of that?" may give them a sense of duty and importance.
Saying other things like "Yay, we have a taunter!", gives that person an idea as to what you expect from them without saying you expect it.
No more from me. GL. -
Excellent post(s).
The "slightly overconfident" leader is a good point. Often my team will spot the next mob and someone will say something "this is gonna suck" or "we need a healer for this". Unless they are ABSOLUTLY right, I'll usually throw out something like, "sweet, this is a gonna be a good fight." I find that if I let people know that I'm looking for that adrenaline rush, or that challenge, then they start to have more confidence AND begin to find fun in the challenges you face.
If they pull out the "debt excuse" then I often say something like "ya but won't it be fun?" or somthing to that effect. I am an aggressive player compared to most so I get that sort of thing alot but as long as you address their concerns, they'll usually go along with my aggressive tactics. A simple explanation or plan before the fight and a "we all know our roles. Stick to them and we'll be fine" usually does the trick.
Another thing is the Retreat. You mentioned being the first one in and the first one out. The latter seems more important to me. Starting the attack is usually a matter of strategery. In retreating, however, you are able to show your concern for their safety, their debt, and their fun. As a leader, unless your dead already, be the last one out. Yell "RUN!" if you need to, but be damn well sure you're the last one to flee the scene. As a defender, stand in place and spam heals as your teammates run past you. A tank or a scrapper better be pulling aggro from a dying teammate. Blasters backtrack and fire. And trollers ought to be spamming holds.
Although a leader may be forced into that sort of situation, it's wise to avoid it at all costs. Having played since i1 I've developed a reputation. Granted I'm not "famous" on my server, but when things get rough and someone yells "run" I'll usually respond with something like "Don't you know who I am? I'm Twilight Girl. I don't run". I do this even when I'm playing an alt hoping that MAYBE by chance they've seen me around. This has turned some ugly situations for the better as your team usually finds a second wind when they see your confidence. Even if you're a "nobody" a comment about your own abilities or reluctance to run because of who you are can be a huge card to play when your team is hurting. Like it or not, they're looking to you for direction and assurance.
