  1. Wouldn't Sonic/Energy be the perfect combo for that char idea? o.O
  2. I'm really intrigued by this Claws/Fire suggestion made early on. Any specific combo's/chains for that mix that works well? Ive wanted to pick up claws but I also wasnt sure what pairing I wanted with it. Would I build it much different than a brute (if I decided to make a claws/fire brute instead.)
  3. Quite simply, I like to be first and I want to punch the biggest meanest looking badguys in the face and laugh at them when they can't do it back. Consequently this is also how I played my nrg^2 blaster
  4. As always, more thanks for further valuable info! I did see Twilight's build and was very intrigued by it, enough so that I was seriously considering going to typed def instead of the positional. I really like how she slots the dmg auras as well so will play around with it some. Will also look at Salty's second build to hopefully get a better idea. of how to move things around. Each post has been a ton of help because my brain was stuck on positional for my build for some reason and I didn't even consider typed, even though I do on other chars. I really want to get the most I can out of this char because it seemed a fun challenge over the cookie cutter /shield scrappers all over.

  6. Thanks for the reply and I tweaked what you posted using your suggestions. Had to drop hasten but oh well, I was able to work in Throw Spines. I can't find any way to get more slots into tough/weave though.

  7. Just for fun... threw something together to be laughed at by current pvpers though without going too crazy that would be something I would pvp with atm. PB with BS & TF was always a potent 1 2 3.

  8. I would point you to the PVP boards Thats what usually happens around here tbh when people ask about pvp builds. though now that you brought it up and I have plenty of time, I bet I can come up with something pvpesque for fun May try it to see and compare when you get some real help heh

  10. I can out of this Spines/DA build. I feel sure it can do better though but I haven't seen a recent thread featuring this combo (a few with on or the other but it can sometimes be hard to match up sets.) So if anyone with more experience in em has a minute please take a quick look for me and just let me know if anything is glaringly wrong.

  12. Ugly Char Models? pfffft!

    Wb though.
  13. Swapping out tough/weave let me work in Aid Self/Hasten. Rather than having neither and +50% defense all around. So going the blaster route of more damage output to survive (that and the sweep combo) but also snagging a heal since I'm DB and not DM.
  14. Sweet! Thanks for the fast answer Fury!
  15. When building a SR scrapper, do I need to go much past the 45% soft cap to defenses with my def debuff resistances? Putting together a build without tough/weave and I am just barely at 45% at all positions.

Here is the build I'm refering too:

Energy? Complex? Never found it to be that all. Blast at range til KB doesn't keep the badguys away, stun them when they get close and continue with kb spam. Even learning how to maximize kb in a team isn't terribly hard or complex (even less so when faced with aoe immob spamming controllers.)

Energy/Energy is a great "training wheels" blaster. Each set adds to your survivability through knockback/stuns and it is a solid middle of the pack damage dealer. I didn't really get hugely into blasters until I rolled one of those and she became my main from that point on. Too much fun and a great starting point.

It's common enough damage types that if we can cap, allows us to cover alot of melee/ranged/aoe attacks. Rather than just capping Range and if you go into melee getting rocked.
  21. I wouldn't say one is so much better than the others. Force is pretty wicked because of PFF and teaming that with Aid self like in the other build. Blasters get no Def Debuff resist so even though you are capped to S/L it can still go down with some bad luck. Also just for completeness sake here's what I threw together for capped S/L def.

  22. S/L def is an easy one for an energy blaster to (almost) cap and it covers alot of attacks in melee/range/aoe but you need to switch to ice ancillary for that def shield. I might end up doing this myself (my main is nrg/nrg/force as well) with a second build but will have to see if I am up to that when I finish fleshing out my first one entirely.
  23. After taking a look at your build I tweaked with it some. 2% less ranged/melee def but added more S/L def and more AOE def to just round out your protection overall. Increased your endurance efficiency and Recharge as well. I also added some of my own taste in the build by making a few power and some slotting changes. Replaced acrobatics with Energy Punch (for more blappy goodness) and added a Karma KB protection into CJ. Replaced EB with Energy Torrent for more aoe dmg and slotted repulsion bomb for dmg. Repulsion bomb wont scatter your mobs so you can follow it up with an Energy Torrent and usually take out most of the minions in a group if you BU/AIM first. Unslotted boxing because it's crap even for a mule imo. That's about it for what I did of note, you should find this build to be plenty sturdy in groups or solo.

  24. For your sets (Rad/MM) throwing in some S/L def using the Ice Ancillary wouldn't be a bad idea. It will help give you some breathing room when popping in for some pbaoe. Infact you may want to think about using SS/+Stealth IO later in the game as well so you can set up in the middle of a group before starting to blast away. Drop in, fire off the aoe's and single target for clean up on survivors.

I have a different problem downloading Mids, I can't access the dl site from the computer I am using atm. Anyway some overly ambitious and helpful good samaritan might be able to upload it to a rapidshare or some other such file sharer?

Thanks a ton if you can!
