Somewhere between 35-39, or somewhere in the high 40s.
Mathematically speaking the later the better as long as it's not too late. Since bigger levels take longer. But in terms of content getting thin, 35-39 is still a spot people can run dry. -
The game gets the closest equivalent we're likely to see to a level up button and people are meh. Love it.

Quote:More like calling a spade a spade than a Straw man. Every time someone invokes "the suits" or "Marketing" and complains about how we have to pay now when we didn't before, it's really not any different than the terms Nethergoat used. Just different codewords for the same concept.Fair enough, yes I understand there's been a mixture of paid and free costume options. But to me it just seems that the focus lately has been on paid costume pieces. I had forgotten the animated tails, that was my bad, but when comparing the options offered with monthly payment and separate payments, I still see a difference in amount and quality.
But why all the hyberbole? I haven't seen anyone else talk about "dark current regime" "rainbows" or "golden times." Sounds almost like a straw man.
Nethergoat isn't engaging the Hyperbolic drive, he's just pointing out when people crank it to Ludicrous Speed. -
Quote:Not sure. Just played for about an hour and based on info from my server's badge channel got 2 Halloween tips, and thus 3 badges.Do you need Going Rogue to get them???...My brother doesnt have GR yet and asked me but I could not find a link stating one way or the other....my search fu may be weak tho....I told him I would assume you wouldn't as you can get tips without GR but not the morality ones of course...
Here's what I know
-You get it from clicking on the door, not defeating mobs.
-You need to be wearing a costume power (from the event or from a code)
-It doesn't matter if you already have 3 tips it will still drop.
-you should stay after mission complete and defeat the Praetorian Clockworks for that badge too. -
Quote:My blood pressure and emotions are fine. It's just a forum, I don't get angry.Actually Lemur Lad, I think my last sentence in that post specifically said otherwise. Here let me post it again:
"For you to dismiss someone's feelings about this Pack is just as inappropriate as it would be for other people to dismiss yours."
Now I think you are mostly refering to one slighlty over the top post, but letting yourself get caught up in one persons heated argument is not going to keep your blood pressure down. I personally agree in general with the feeling the guy has about these packs, while I disagree with the specifics of his post. I don't know if it will help you any, but try to look past the words and really firgure out what he is saying. I have been forcing myself to do just that for the last few months and the only people that irk me now are the ones that think no one else has a right to an opinion.
Maybe you should focus a little less on what's "past the words" you're not that good at it. Especially if you think of me as someone who doesn't think other's have a right to an opinion.
What I object to are ill-informed opinions. Or people who think opinions are sacred just because of what they are (like you) and can brook no argument over the facts. If someone gets worked up over wrong information or mistaken impressions there is nothing wrong with giving them correct information and telling them to rethink their position.
Maybe it would do you better to stop reading tea leaves to divine people's meaning and accept that in a discussion forum, discussions happen. -
Quote:I know that's just what I want to hear when I start a new game, a lecture. And no I'm not saying to play the way I want to play I'm simply stating my opinion just like everyone else, I mean if a new player asks for my help I automatically state my opinion on farming but I tell them what it is anyways because I've had lots of experience in it (which is why I no longer farm) and ultimately its their choice and I can only hope that my opinion factors in their decision. You make it sound like I'm ordering everyone to stop farming because I don't like it.
You should oughta join the Mentor Project and spread the word of your reformation. -
Tell me you go grocery shopping using this system.

Quote:The only difference between the two is how many points you'd get in Scrabble. Anything else is manufactured in people's heads.Out of curiosity how much are the super boosters? I've got them at £5.99 on the EU site, which I put at about US$9.50. Meaning that, assuming the post saying BP said this will be US$9.99 is correct, the only difference between a Super booster and a normal booster is the name.

Quote:So it's ok for them to tell me I'm a dumb and gullible fanboy for spending my money as I choose but I can't tell them that makes no sense? Ok got it, thanks.Actually, both are personal. One for financial reasons and the other for opinion reasons. Both are also valid to the people with the issues. For you to dismiss someone's feelings about this Pack is just as inappropriate as it would be for other people to dismiss yours.

Quote:Are you seriously trying to tell me I'm stupid for spending my money the way I want to?I would rather that a player has to unlock a costume part, that way everyone that plays the game can access said parts.
I can't believe people have been shelling out money for these wastes of cash. The audacity that the developers have is astounding! Why are you all paying for these? Stop spending money on them and maybe they'll get the idea that these minor additions to the game should be free. I regret paying for the one super booster I bought (technology) and I've not bought one since (discounting the G.R. pack as I felt it was part of the expansion).
I'm happy I'm quitting this game for good this time around. The game has steadily been going down hill with crap like this going on and players just lapping it up.
Keep this in mind everyone: NC Soft just laid off a few employees, some that have been around for quite some time. They're now releasing sub par item packs or separating certain items and auras that I think were originally intended for release with G.R. such as the party pack. Half the emotes in that pack for instance were already demonstrated by N.P.C.'s in Praetoria, but I digress. If you ask me, I think they realize with DCU coming out that they're going to be in trouble and the policy's now "cash in while we can". The recent packs have been coming out very quickly one after another when before there would be spans of months between them. Pair that fact with the quality we've been given with the last few and I think I'm pretty on with my assessment.
I think this game has maybe two years tops left in it and by no means do I think that the servers are going to go dark relatively anytime soon, but so far we've seen a huge decline in quality and delays up to wazoo with promised content. Although Going Rogue sold decently, I don't think they made quite the turnaround as NC Soft has expected. Mark my words everyone, 2 years tops. My guess would be a year after the release of DCU if that game delivers the way I think it is going to.
Please don't give me, "Well, after large expansions people get laid off." Well, if the game delivered as they thought it would those people would still have jobs. The circumstances BaB left under are not a good sign whatever they may be.
Stop paying for these boosters. We pay enough as it is without ever having any major content upgrades. I know Blizzard is a huge company with huge resources, but regardless Paragon Studios should keep up. CoX is a relatively small game when compared to other MMO's. I know they give us free updates and content here and there, but what we have now only amounts to what CoX should have been from the beginning other than the bare bones MMO of what it was when it started. G.R. shows just that bare bones mentality. They should have included and had ready the end game content when G.R. went live, but they just didn't deliver like they always do.
I know I'm pissing off a lot of people here. Let me just say that the devs. do seem sincere in their efforts. In fact, I would wager that all these pathetic little microtransactions are the work of the marketing department or the higher ups at NC Soft, not the actual devs. that deal directly with us and the game itself. Still, the policy they've had of late makes me angry because they are counting on the gullibility of their player base.
Give us some cool new costumes devs. without having to pay for them. 3-5 with an expansion doesn't cut it for me. I was expecting way more with how huge G.R. was supposed to be. This was a huge let down in my book.
Stupid to me would be spending more money than this booster costs on a 3D movie. But you don't see me telling other people they're dumb for doing it. I just don't spend my own money on it.
I don't for a second think it's going to get them to stop making 3D movies and I don't for a second think my buying or not buying a booster is going to hasten the end of this game.
There's absolutely nothing resembling logic in your statements. Apart from you've decided you don't like the game and you're leaving. Hope it's sooner rather than later. -

Quote:Saw Feycat's post and wanted to give my take on this aspect of things too. This is stuff I can find a half dozen other things to use that I already have, to produce the exact same effect. Well, maybe not the poots....
eeek you may personally be happy with using something we have to get an effect nearly like what you're going for, but I know I hate settling.
I have a Lobster esque mutant character, and I hated settling for giant gouts of steam on his "cooked" costume.
For years my main had to settle for monocles before we got real looking goggles.
Every time we get something new that my Dominator can use to get a look more and more like a Mu, I'm happier.
My tanker has solid gold skin and when I saw they had added real reflectivity to the Metallic skin I almost cried.
Electricity is nice, but when you're trying to make a broken down robot, Sparks will be soooooo much better.
Some people may not like some of these new auras since they look a lot like ones we have (Toxic Vapors) but I know other people who will be over the moon, because they've been asking for years for an aura that's a bit more understated than some of the great gushing clouds in the older auras.
As for capes with textures? People have been wanting to see more of them since Cape of the Four Winds, or the Valkyrie cape were put out.
Trying to argue that this stuff is out of the blue and never asked for is pretty silly to anyone who frequents costume discussions, and getting a specific option that fits a character vision is always going to be better than making do with something close. -
Yeah because vaguely menacing unsubstantiated feelings are worth so much more consideration than actual facts or declarative statements.
-
Sorry your encylopedic memory is failing you eeek, but I for one specifically remember asking for an aura that uses the Steamjet effect from Self destruct, and I know if I didn't suggest leafy or shiny metal capes myself, I remember seeing someone else had.
Besides, it's not always about what specifically one of us asked for. These are creative people with their own ideas. None of the things I see for this pack are in and of themselves bad or poorly done.
Sorry you just seem to be complaining the pony is the wrong shade of pink and the sparkles it leaves behind should be star shaped. -
This is key. The description of available times needs to be somewhat less vague.
What times of day. How long at a stretch. Hard information changes any answers we give. My definition of "not much time" may be a lot different than the OP's, and their definition of "X takes too long" may be mistaken. -

Quote:There's a difference between saying they can't afford it, and it's overpriced. One is personal and can't be argued, the other implies a general condition for a large portion or a majority. Saying it's overpriced is what makes me blink. To be fair... Different people in different situations and different locations can have a vastly different economic perspective.
Sure, some can say, "If such and such dollars is too much for them, then they shouldn't be forking over the money for ISP and monthly subscriptions"... however, every budget has its lines and every person has their own right to make their choices and their own perspectives on what is good, good enough and affordable.
Just because some people don't understand why such and such amount of dollars may or may not be a problem... Doesn't mean it is wrong, misinformed, ignorant or irresponsible.
We all have different lives and I'm not going to dismiss the value others place on any amount of money, no matter how different it may be from my own situation. -
Quote:yay snowflake thread!(I WILL be buying the newest booster)
Honestly, I'm surprised you did a all cape/aura booster after how the party pack worked out.
So, the point is, get back to boosters like the science, or the magic boosters, maybe do another round since you've covered all the origins.
That is all. -
Quote:$10 is less than the cost of lunch or dinner at most sit down restaurants. I really don't get this "overpriced" point of view some people are claiming. Not every player of CoH has a pile of money to spend on these overpriced Booster Packs. Less content for more money equals no sale and unhappy customers. Why should I "be happy" about that?
I don't have scads of money. I'm on disability and have very little money for things other than food and essentials. My entertainment budget is mostly taken up by this game and a couple books every other month. I'll be skipping the books and getting this pack. Happy to do it, and don't feel the price is unreasonable. -
As you have been told more than once already, they are unavailable until the store returns. Your memory of the past is incorrect.

Quote:I've said this in other threads where other's tried to make this point, and I'll say this to you. Prove it. It's a simple matter of counting. Count the things we got for free before booster packs, and count the things we get for free since they started. Graph it over time, and prove that we're getting less free stuff.3) The packs have adversely affected content releases. Instead of being extra, IMO we're paying for stuff we used to get for free. I don't care if the devs claim otherwise.
.
It's great that you have opinions man. I'm sure someone's proud of you. But when those opinions COULD be based on facts, and you choose not to, they're worthless. -
Quote:They're quickly burning through you as a customer. And maybe some others. But last I heard you don't speak for anyone but yourself. If you're serious about leaving, I hope you don't decide to use your final months like some others and make even more of a pain out of yourself than you normally are.Yeah, I've seen just about enough.
After the backlash over the Party Pack, I thought they'd ease up for a bit. I guess not.
When the Party Pack was released I vowed not to buy another pack until the devs shaped up, no matter what it contained. I don't care if it tripled Tanker damage, allowed me to throw cars around in game or even if it freakin' mixed drinks and brought them to me.
But the devs haven't shaped up. They're getting worse.
If I wanted to constantly have a hand outstretched looking for MTs, I'd play F2P games. You know, those games that don't also have a sub fee. You don't get to double dip if the content in the issues people are paying for suffers, and is has in my opinion, very much so. There's been a marked decline in the past two years since these packs started. In fact, one could call it triple dipping because they JUST asked people to shell out for a major expansion and they have yet to deliver on some of the features.
As a customer, it's not my responsibility to care about a company's financial woes. I know how bad the economy is. That's why it's very annoying constantly being asked for more money, especially for stuff that is overpriced (Party Pack) and that they had no business charging extra for (Open Present emote, GR Complete Items).
Devs: you're quickly burning through your customers good will and taking for granted that some want to help support the game. If and when that comes home to roost, I'll have no sympathy. If you're looking for a backlash about the pack, here it is. Otherwise, feel free to continue ignoring similar sentiment; I'm sure I'm not the only one not amused by these shenanigans. Either way, it's getting close to the holidays, the end of the year and also the end of my sub. I'll be voting with my wallet.
.
I'll happily buy this pack. I like the choices. I didn't like the Party Pack, so I didn't buy that. It's really not any more complicated than that.
Packs are not a harbinger of the end of the game.
