  1. Which enemy group has the most unfullfilled potential i CoH or CoV? The enemy groups that look interesting, but just never go anywhere. The enemy groups that has a presence, but not story, no impact.

Personally, I have to say either the Knives of Artemis or, perhaps a little surprisingly, the Skulls. The Knives of Artemis are not really explored at all -- they just show up as a change of scenery from Malta -- and while the Skulls have a lot of work done in street scenes and random comments, most of it is "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls." What's with the necromancy angle? How are they organised? Do they have a leader? Leaders? Where do they get their powers from? How were they started? Where did they come from? Let's have some memorable Skull NPCs, maybe use them to foreshadow the Banished Panteon.
  2. And yet, the world goes on.

So I was supposed to just post nothing while someone insults me?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless you enjoy drama, yes, that's pretty much it.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not taking your apology because I don't want to talk to you,

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then don't talk to them. It's not rocket science.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Well I have been going on about it sporadically for about 15 months now.

The Banished gods would be the most likely ingame candidates for something like this (but Flitz's guess is bang on), a bit of an homage to Lovecraftian mythos.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I think Striga, or possibly Blood Bay, would make a better backdrop for a Lovecraftian story arch. Lovecraft isn't about zombies shuffling around in a mist-shrouded graveyard, but about dark secrets and a twisted, perverse and inhuman realities underlying what we think of as the real world.

You can tell people heroes saved them from Galactus, but they rarely ever SEE it.

Unless you live in New York city in which case it's a bi-monhly occurence mentioned in the guide books.

I think the word you're looking for is Genocide.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nope, Xenocide.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nope. Genocide. :-p

If it's a case of us getting wiped out or them getting wiped out, which would you choose?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd choose not to introduce a kill or be killed scenario in a game where such a scenario is decidedly unthematic.

Of course at some stage, the Vet rewards will have to stop as the game winds down to its natural conclusion, and that will probably give us a clue as to how much longer the servers will remain alive

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or, alternatively (but somewhat less likely), the Vet rewards will have to stop as the veterans wind down to their natural conclusion.
  10. So... what archetype did he play, and did he choose that one because he was evil, brutish and short, or did he become evil, brutish and short because he played that archetype? Does CoX cause villainy and bloodlust? If so, how can we use this to take over the world?

    Weekend Post

I wish the players would stop nerfing the devs. So what if un-nerfed devs might "unbalance" the game a little. Just suck it up and learn how to play. "Balance" and "fun" is for losers who can't take the heat. The devs know what is best for us, and god-damned right our wishes shouldn't stand in the way for their artistic license, crazed experiments, hangover code and bugs. Bugs are good. They make the game interesting. Get rid of the /bug and /petition commands, and ban everyone who even tries to post on the forum. Seriously, are we here to game or are we here to have fun?

    Weekend Post

What I want to know is why the devs hate Lichtenstein. There's not one Lichtensteinian hero, villain or NPC in the game. This smacks of discrimination.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
probably all powersets in your AT

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the devs have said that respecing between powersets will not be implemented.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I don't know why anyone would be disappointed - Sands, Nem Staff, Blackwand and even Ghost Axe are all strong powers for just about any character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's just that ... sure it's useful and practical, but it's just not much fun. It's not shiny and new. It's like getting woolen long johns for Christmas. They're useful and practical and you'll be glad you have them when it's cold but ... they're just not very exciting as presents goes. You can't help but be a little disappointed.

Iv got a Tesco club card, but thats not why i shop at Tesco, nor does it stop me going to M&S now and then for me shopping.

I also dont make spurious purchases on my American Express card, just because i happen to get air miles when i do.

Look at them for what they are, a free bonus, thats it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heheh. Well, if that had been what they really were, companies wouldn't be giving them out. They're loyality schemes, and companies use them because they really, truly do affect the way consumers (that's "people" to us non marketoids) spend their money. It's a bit like advertisements -- everybody say they're not affected by advertisements, and yet advertisements work.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Though I do think the Devs were overly generous with the early rewards - offering several things on a single reward badge - because now all the long-term vets expect that kind of generosity for every single new reward.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not just with the rewards, but also with the reward names. I mean, Faithful at 6 months and Loyal at 12? That was a bit shortsighted, surely.

I'd recommend that they give something spectacular for the 60 months award, and then either change it to yearly rewards after that, or find some other way to reward people past that point. (Tokens that can be exchanged for CoX merchandise, a free level up for a character on the account's anniversary, a slight reduction in subscription price, get a bug renamed after you, a nerf-bat and ten minutes alone with Positron ... something along those lines.)
  17. Oh, I almost forgot the most important question:

    Emacs or vi?

    W00t.Free Stuff!

I'm sorry, but why all the grumbling? Its Free Stuff!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, it's sort of like this: not getting desert is fine; getting desert is great; getting desert, but it's just a slice of white breat with butter, is disappointing.
  19. What's the most serendiptious design decision that's been made for CoX?

    What's the most unfortunate one?

    Boxers or briefs?

If you started over again on CoX today, what would you do differently?

Does Nemesis Automatons dream of clockwork sheep?

What feature do you most regret having to leave out of CoH?

Damned temporal anomalities. I blame Mender Silas. Messing around with the time-streams all the time. Bah, when I was young we only had a single time-stream, and that was down for maintenance every Sunday too, but did we complain? No, we were happy, even though we had little.

Please just tell Castle, Positron, Back Alley Brawler and Sexy Jay that we're not that bad

    [/ QUOTE ]

What, you want him to lie?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Its all something for nothing, weak or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, yes. But it's not so much that it's weak -- stuff like the Greek letters or the boxing outfit are in some sense even weaker. It's more that this last one just strikes me as ... uninspired. And that disappoints me a little.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
The idea that user-made content will be somehow better than the stuff the devs write is - for the most part - fantasy; the vast majority of it will be derivative junk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, CoH is a superhero game. "Derivative junk" is pretty much integral to the genre.
  24. The helmets are okay, I suppose. Not great, but, yeah, I can see them being a vet award. The last one is just uninspired. I'd prefer to see something less useful and more ... fun. Getting some of the trainers as gladiators, or the ability to function as a trainer once per day ("Run back to the Brawler to level up? Why?") or a Skulls disguise or a "npc_target_say" command to fool around with.
