The group that you spawn the critters under should be the group name that appears. So if you want XXX to appear, you'll have to spawn the mobs using the XXX group.
As for your second question, currently you cannot choose which critters spawn, aside from assigning a Boss objective. -
If you click on the error message itself, it should take you to and highlight the field it believes is erroneous.
That's probably not foolproof though, considering the number of bugs already discovered. I hope that tidbit helps you, though. -
You could mention them either in the main mission's nav title, or in the mission's opening/accepted dialogue. You could also have a clue from a required objective mention the optional objective.
-
Very strange scenario. Seems almost like the opposite of the problems most people have, which is inactive and active text all popping up at once, and the bosses using the default punching-hand starting animation.
Wish I knew how to help you, aside from testing your arc personally. And even then, I can't guarantee I'd be able to help fix it. -
I was never a forum dweller until i14 came around, so I'm a real newbie around here.
With how massive the MA system is, you'd figure it could really use its own permanent feedback/suggestion board. -
...Holy crud, they really -did- get rid of those forums. Huh...
They must've been getting flooded really bad. That, or it erupted into a gigantic flame war. -
Oh, gosh. When I read this topic, I thought, "Huh... I bet someone's using the Clockwork to create an arc titled 'Gears of War.'"
Seems such is not the case. After searching, the closest match I've found is "City of Gears of War." No Clockwork involved, though. How disappointing. -
EDIT!! Posted this in the wrong thread, sorry. XD

EDIT: Really board, no strikeout? You disappoint me.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way, too. It sucks, but what can ya do? -
The idea's great. I'm sure it's something everyone who enjoys MA would want. As said though, it's just that so many people have already suggested it. I'd bet the Devs already have something like this in the works, right along with a tagging system.
-
This is a pretty darn good idea. Have you suggested it on the Feedback forums yet? Or were you just curious to see how well it'd be received first?

And 1 should really be fixed it's obnoxious.
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps it's not a glitch. Maybe it's been changed to this way in order to avoid ally buffing abuse.
Personally, I think the enemy AIs running for the hills is the most obnoxious glitch. Especially if I have ally NPCs who take off after them... -
Snakes (listed as Snake by MA) range 1-52, while RIP (listed as Rogue Island Police by the MA) range 1-40. Mooks are a safe bet though, at 5-20.
If you want a quick list of other possible groups within the lowbie range, it should be easy enough to provide. -
Try searching for LBMA. See what that turns up.
-
It's all in the use. Does the mission have other objectives? If so, then a Defeat All flag is probably not required. If a mission has a Defeat All objective, it should be on a small, easily-explored map so as to avoid much backtracking to hunt down mobs in hiding.
Sadly, the biggest problem will be those people who don't even give your mission a shot because they see the Defeat All flag, and worse yet, may even deliberately start your arc to give it a low rating. So you'll have to take your target audience into consideration.
I think the stigma behind Defeat All comes from the fact that everyone, at some point in the game, has run into a bad experience with a Defeat All. From the sound of it, many replies in this thread provide evidence to this theory. -

I am assuming these tags will go in the 1000 character mission description since they are going to be searched on. Using 20 to 50 additional characters is a fair tradeoff for the tremendous gain in accessibility.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's only 300 characters. I WISH it were 1000 characters. -
You'll have to unlock them, but the signature villains/heroes all have lv54-only alternates of themselves.
-
Just got around to testing it. /nin seems to be working just fine, aside from the insane damage buff. Tried it on both enemies and allies.
Are you sure you weren't using Super Reflexes?
Or is it possible that the ally is set to Pacifist/Non-Combat? -
[ QUOTE ]
For the record, a Superstrength/Willpower with both set to extreme is just cruel.
Mine is optional, so he's only there if you want to fight him. But if you do, he will give you a hard time and then rez to finish you off.
[/ QUOTE ]
Haha. When I was testing for my first arc, I had a SS/WP EB set to Extreme for both. The mission gives you an ally of EB level with SS/Inv set to Extreme, in order to take down this enemy EB and several other EBs.
When I got to the SS/WP one though, the Ally managed to beat the crap out of him... then he self-rezzed. I had to help the ally take him down again, which involed a lot of back-and-forth aggroing. Then we got him down again... only, the WP self-rez only takes like, 2 minutes to recharge. So this bugger got up yet AGAIN, destroyed my ally, and then came after me. I gave up and ran away.
It reminded me of an arc in a certain glorified anime involving a lot of failed last resort attempts to destroy the enemy leader.

Really, it seems like any AV with its attack set put above anything but Normal is impossibly difficult except for an extremely well-organized team.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, a friend and I have been able to duo a few of the AVs I've come up with for my next arc. These include a Energy Blast/Empathy and a Robotics/Devices, all set to extreme. On the other hand, the Energy Melee/Electric Armor AV seems undoable by just two people. Some sets seem so underwhelming, while others are disgustingly challenging. -
I'd suggest...
[RBMA] - Rewards Based Mission Arc (Use at your own risk. For legitimate arcs only.)
I honestly doubt anything's gonna go overboard about it. The "Joke Farm" thing, I can understand. With the number of people who created such arcs as soon as i14 hit live? The joke got reeeeeally old, reeeeeeally fast. -
To be fair? I think I can agree with Metatron on the use of the [RBMA] tag as a legitimate tag with a non-farm arc that allows players to pursue rewards as they had been intended. Though, I do think his posts could have done without the hostile undertones.
My current project's designed as a task force. Currently, it features 1 captive, 5 allies, 41 interactable objects, 1 destroy object, 9 custom enemies, and a crapton of optional bosses (which I believe count as optional objectives; correct me if I'm wrong) spread amonst the missions to make the enemy groups feel a little more legitimate.
I'll admit, that's not a HUGE amount of grinding towards many of the badges featured within the MA. However, I could see how someone designing a serious arc could take badges further into consideration. In such an event, if they wanted to use the [RBMA] as one of their tags, more power to them.
Also, I don't think anyone who's going to acknowledge the usefulness for these tags is actually ignorant enough to go ahead and paint such a target to their forehead. Of course, if any of you really would wanna do that, then... I guess I'm wrong? -

Is it me, or are /Ninjutsu using allies just... not using it at all?
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you talking about Hide? It's possible the Dev's disabled Hide in /nin MA custom critters as a temporary fix for the overpowered criticals.
I haven't tested it out in a while. I should do that in a few minutes. -
[ QUOTE ]
I wanted to use him as an ally in the final mission of my arc, but I couldn't find him either. So he's just mentioned instead...And he actually does something right!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, you -can- add him as an ally. Just add an ordinary Arachnos Huntsman (or something similar, if there's none in your misison's level range) and give it the name Jenkins.
If you ever read the real Jenkins' description in the missions, it's just the same as the default Arachnos peons. -
[ QUOTE ]
He appears five times.
Breakout ("Arachnos Soldier"), VEAT arc (Huntsman), Zig Breakout arc (Huntsman), Faultline arcs (TacOps), SharkSF (Huntsman(
[/ QUOTE ]
Darn, beat me to it.
And I think he's just an ordinary enemy renamed, not a unique character.
Hehe. I was considering doing an alternate, red-side version of Challenge from the Norse Gods, where instead of the normal ally, you find... well, anyone who's played it would know where it's going. XD
Sadly though, I may end up having to take down the original arc anyways to make room for my more serious ones. Ah, well. -

[DRMA] Drama Arc. By and large a serious story, although occasional comedy relief is fine.

Curious. Did you have something in mind that would make this different from an [SFMA]?
