A lot of people have summed up why the Youtube idea's not really a winner, due to extra work on the player, technical limitations, and it being jarring.
However, I'm not entirely sure that a villainous monologue can't be done within the limits of an AE arc. Depending on how your arc is written, you could use the contact text, which gives you 1000 characters for each separate window. The boss idle text that they say before you fight them has a pretty large limit. I've used that to make wordy villains for comedic purposes quite a few times. Depending on how long the monologue is, you could always have it extend into the text for when they see the player, and even into the text for different levels of health. -
You recall incorrectly. His info has always said that he has a Nictus. Even back when he still sported his 5th Column uniform and his dark powers. The version with dark powers that exists again in the game right now is the exact same as the one that existed prior to Issue 3. Not even the description changed.

Quote:The Nictus have always been part of the 5th Column. Requiem has always been stated to have gotten his powers from fusion with a Nictus in his info. The warwolves were never explicitly stated to be linked to Nictus, but they were heavily implied to be in the Path of the Dark arc (that sounds ridiculous said out loud) and by the fact that the alternate Requiem's world in To Save a Thousand Worlds is populated solely by "Werewolves".Not quite true.
The whole 'alien' aspect of the Council only came with I3 and then Strigia. Before that Warwolves were linked to the Seed of Darkness. Hell, before than half the mobs were Dark Miasma and Dark Melee based before Warshades crept in.
The 5th Column were there since the start - a generic Nazi themed group with super science and super soldiers.
I3 basically retconned them into being the Council - this caused huge outcry. Anyone who remembers Axis America will remember this. They suddenly became 'Council Empire'. Now I can understand the mobs and arcs etc. retconning...but an entire dimension? Come on.
The alien aspect IIRC came in with Strigia and the Kheldian backstory.
To Save a Thousand Worlds still has the coolest name ever, even though the arc is a complete nightmare to play through due to it's insane length and huge outdoor maps. -
The number of tags on this thread haven't ripped a whole in time and space yet. I've done my part, it's time for everyone to do theirs!

No, you want some real Half Life comparisons to CoH? Go to the Shadow Shard. Looks a lot like the alien world you go to in the first Half Life. -

I just wish that I didn't seem to get nothing but soulbounds heroside. It's a real kick in the crotch when your main villain is a mastermind.

ZOMG U PLAY WOW? THAT GAME IS EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U SHUD FEL BAD!!!!!!!!!!!
*clears throat* Sorry, somebody had to do it. All in jest, of course. -
I will actually posit that a character like the Orc that you mentioned doesn't even have to be from an alternate universe. Considering the fact that we fight demons, zombies, both frankensteinian and honest to god resurrected corpses, ghosts, and even Cyclopes and Minotaurs on a daily basis, an Orc could easily be displaced in time or from a "lost tribe" of Orcs living in some foreign location.
That's the wonderful thing about a superhero universe. Absolutely anything goes. A Conan-esque barbarian from the past or from an alternate universe (or even a distant possible future) who has been displaced from his normal surroundings and now finds himself in a strange civilized world with bizarre technology he doesn't understand fits in perfectly. There are numerous examples of such characters in comic books.
For instance, my main villain is an ancient draconian sorcerer, the last of his species who plots to destroy all of mankind as revenge for hunting his kind to near extinction. He's been around for millennia. Since the game lore doesn't specifically say that such a thing didn't happen, I can say that it did in his backstory, and be completely correct.
P.S.: I freaking hate that slicking the hair back pop-up too. LIZARDS DON'T HAVE HAIR. -
Quote:Post it! POST IT NOW!New edition of Zero Stars Visual up, thanks once again to Bitt_Player. Makes me wish I had a character on Justice, I'd love to tag along with him and add my own points of view.
Review of UoG2 is late, in case some of you noticed.
Yeeeeeeah, turns out Mr. Bensen got wind of my review, and of my review plans for his next arc. We've been having...in-depth discussions. -

Quote:Of course, it'll only be properly done after MMs get thermal, for the flames.Thread Necromancer would be a good character concept for an Undead MM. Of course, I'm sure someone's already made a character along those lines.
What's really amazing is how many of the suggestions from this thread have actually been implemented at some point. The game has come a long way. -

AlienOne, I approve of your quest, if only for being morbidly curious as to how far you can plummet.

Quote:I had fun with the old star system. I was 3 stars for so long that I posted a thread asking people to move my star rating, up or down, I didn't care. I just was sick of having 3 stars. One of the first things I did when the forums came back (other than fixing my avatar) was to disable my reputation. I think that the rep system will eventually (when it's clear to the community people that it isn't working as inteneded) be disabled, just like the star system on the old boards.
It... somehow went up. *scratches head* -
Where the hell is Van Helsing when you need him? Only he has the expertise to kill an undead monster with this kind of power.

Thanks for the playthrough. The other two brides are from Bram Stoker's Dracula. I wanted to use a Castlevania reference for another one, but in the end decided that would leave more people scratching their heads than the Twilight and classsic Bram Stoker references. Plus, I have more Castlevania references in the other two, so it's no big deal.

Quote:As I said earlier, I plan on redoing arcs that have been updated for a quick review, with an updated rating and a rundown of the changes and how I felt they worked. As you have a 2-part arc, I would rather run through the updated first part before doing the second.LJ, I'm not sure how I missed this request. I've been swamped with RL stuff, lately so I'll blame senility.
In any case, I'd be honored if you'd run Part 2 of "The Consequences of War" #241496. Part 1 (227331) has been signficantly revised since your 3 star rating back in mid-June, but I hestitate to ask you to re-run it simply because you've got enough on your plate. Any way it goes, whatever you'd like to do would tickle me pink.
