I think i finally realized why i can't play scrappers, they die a lot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    you've played blasters right?

if you haven't got all 6 debt badges on your blaster by the mid 30's your doing it wrong.

As for scrapper, it took me ages after I hit 50 to get the last 4 debt badges.
  2. I have foc acc on my dm/da atm, 3 slotted with adjusted targetting for the bonus and a %for BU proc.

I find the end drain is managable with decent slotting in other powers (I have gone for as much max end and +recovery)

As for the attacks, I have gone for once acc/dmg HO and 5 of which ever sets give the best bonus (crushing impact, sciroco's etc)

Having said that with just focc acc and some IOs (most sets have acc/dmg, acc/end etc etc) you'll be fine unless you hit some big to hitt debuffs. An entire mob of death mages etc.
  3. this is pretty much the bog standard health slotting (ignore the slot levels) for those that have the drops or cash:

    (A) Numina's Convalescence - Heal/Endurance: Level 50
    (19) Numina's Convalescence - Heal: Level 50
    (33) Numina's Convalescence - +Regeneration/+Recovery: Level 50
    (33) Regenerative Tissue - +Regeneration: Level 30
    (33) Miracle - +Recovery: Level 40
  4. Anyone for an ITF tonight?

Now if only we could get battle maiden's sword....
  5. Did a few Drek the other night with the guys and their fire/ice tanks. Bought back memories of the pre-ed pre-herd cap days.

Still very good xp and inf, but [censored] drops.

Other than that it's all been rularu.
  6. Only 1 and thats a fire/kin on my second account.

    Smite Icon ?

I shall check later for you, it did look like this:

    Linkage
  8. You must have found it getting easier when everyone else was keeping out of the way then. ;P
  9. Don't believe I mentioned deff debuffs, I was on about to hit buffs and debuffs used by mobs.

But on the deff debuff, surely the fact that you are getting a lot of def debuffs stacked against you would also affect the def based toons.
As in the fact that a res based toon getting hit more oftern is still taking 50% of the incoming dmg, where as the deff based toon getting hit more oftern is getting hit for 100% of the dmg more oftern.

There must be a fairly low threshold of where res becomes better than deff when fighting a lot of def debuffs
  10. Ypu do get some to hit buffs used by the mobs even at low levels. For example the Bone Daddy uses soul drain or the RiP Leuit's use tic-tacs.

But you are correct in saying they are normally quite small. If you have almost any type of defender or troller on your team, they will have bigger tohit debuffs than the mobs have to hit buffs. Fluffy for example is quite able to give a - 0.43 tohit debuff as his two opening moves.

    Quelcrist - DM/SR SL15
    Dark Sifte - spines/DA SL31 (2nd account)
  16. Nice guide and well explained.

I prefer resistance based toons on the whole for the simple reason that you know where you are 95% of the time. It's reasonably stable and you know that going toe to toe with X you will be ~ 50% of the damage they can do. You can assume you are going to get hit most of the time and you will be taking the damage so you can factor it in to when to hit your heals for example.

I know on my main DM/DA that when my health edges slightly into the red I have time for 1 more smite before hitting dark regen (due to the fact that I have X number of hp left and X% res to their attacks). On my SR scrapper I would have poped a green rather than hit an attack as it's always in the pack of my mind that the next attack could 1 shot me.

I just prefer noy having to rely on the to hit roles of the oponents.

But as I said above, a nice guide and I would never say no to the 40% def given by the cold defenders shields

I thought Energy Torrent did Knockdown on Scrappers and Tankers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought it was also dependent on the mobs KB rez etc. I'm sure it does knock some back. btw as I've never taken it I'll bow to those with 1st hand information.
  18. Here's a little update to my currently build. I will soon be respec'ing back into dark mastery so I can get Teb tenticles and then slot it with 4 or 5 of the targeted AoE purples.

But here it is as current.

    Highlights:
    Recovery: 198% (3.93/s)
    Max End: 119
    Time to max end: 25.4sec
    Regen: 273% (19.9/s)
    Max HP: 1752
    Time to max health: 88sec

  19. The CoT mages (especailly if you get 3 in a spawn) can stack the KB quite high. The earth minions can also hurl boulder (mag8kb), get one of those, a few earthquakes and others, it'll pass your KB res.

You might have found the same thin against the crey, if you get a powertank and an nrg PP after you, you'll be bouncing.
  20. Larac

    Dark/Dark Tank

I know my guide is for scrappers, but the pwoers are esentially the same.

I would go for crushing impacts in your attacks and you'll be wanting all for of the rez enhancing Impervium armors in all your shields. Put an end redux in tough.

    Oh get smite earlier.

OK, paste me up the data chunk from your build and I'll tweak the slotting etc for what I would do with these power choices. I'll also post up my DM/Fire tank build as most of the shield slotting should be the same.
  21. I would sort of agree with the post about blasters.

After 3yrs of being a scrapper, I'm finding I'm enjoying being a blaster more. The problem is now scrapper is just SO easy, easpecailly with IOs. Playing a blaster adds a lot more insta-faceplant spice to the mix.
Plus once you've hit a 6 slotted AIM + BU + FC'd nova, there's nothing on a scrapper to compare.
  22. Err is there any other way to play a scrapper? Juest treat teams like solo, but with more bystanders....

The only time I have ever played vaguely sensibly is when on MoSTF. Other than that my role as the scrapper is to either:
    a) bash (DM) or
    b) hack (BS).

I do pay attention to my health bar purely because clicking dark regen is quicker than carking it and having to use ST. There must be atleast 5secs difference and 5 seconds is a lot of SMASH time.
But then most well built and slotted scrappers @ lvl 50 should be able to atleast survive for a long period in the middle of an 8 man spawn (some exceptions obviously, INV psi cw etc etc).

I find my blaster worse, some one even suggested to me last night that just because nova is recharged doesn'y mean you have to lay it on the biggest +5 lvl mob you can find. All I can say is pffff.
  23. We had our tank on Romulus him self and then I held the agro from each nictus in turn wile the dmg dealers gave it a spanking.
He only rezed once and that was due to us miscounting the nictus (we missed one)
  24. So that would be Mag30 then.
Ouch. I guess not much stops that. iirc even granit only gives ~mag 21 res.

Oh well. guess that'll teach me to try and get the killing blow....
  25. Ran this through last night and it was a very nice TF. A few deaths here and there (mostly the D3 or the brute drawing too much agro).
Team of 3 50's a 47(or 48) plus 4 SKs. Only debuffs from the D3 and a mind/thermal torller. 1 tank, 2 scrappers, troller (mind/therm), D3, FF def and 2 blasters. SHock horror, no RAD......

I found I could quite happily draw the agro from the AV nitcus at the end just using death shroud and hitting it a lot.
The only issue came when it went pop and stunned me through Obsidian Shield. So they must pack one hell of a stun.

As per above, top work by the devs.
