If you go into the "tips" or "getting started" section ov VV, it'll show you the code to copy/paste. Then all you do is fill in the appropriate lines next to the "=" and voila!
If you want something smexier, what I do is poke around for awesome-tastic pages & stealsz... at least the ones with pictures, that way I don't have to figure out what to plug in to make a picture do what I want and be the size I want.
Page designs with pretty colors are a tad more difficult but Google is your friend. I think if you type HTML color code, a grid should pop up so far as giving you what means what. -
I agree it comes and goes. But the key to getting through this hump is to actively look for new SGs and new people to interact and socialize with and join a bunch of channels. Because the more you skulk to the back or side, the worse it's gonna be ...
I used to love the RP in the D and now I don't even go there, unless for some IC reason for my character. People are in their own little cliques that they don't RP outside of. And, jumping in, even to just take part in a conversation, has led to mixed responses varying from allowed participation, to ignoring to outright rudeness *shrugs*
I've switched servers actually, for most of my RP time and hop back onto Virtue only when I know there are SG peeps around and I can get some good RP in. -

Quote:Dead SG or no dead SG, I have no reason to keep characters that haven't been logged on for 100+ days.I left it with my main character, yeah that's true. I left alts in what I thought was a dead SG and then came back to find out they'd all been booted.
Again, this is NOT the place to have this conversation. Talk to ME voice to voice, and NOT on a message board.

Quote:I've poked around the Union Roleplayers channel for a bit (been a Virtue-ite for many years now) and from what I've seen thus far, I whole-heartedly agree with this assessment.I would say the main difference as I understand it is Union seems to be a little more cohesive than Virtue is. (And I say that without ever having set foot there, so that's only the impression I get from the forums) It's probably a side-effect of Virtue having the higher population, there's simply too many people for everything to mesh together more or less nicely like it does on Union. So to maintain anything resembling continuity you end up RPing mostly with the people you know and/or your supergroup, while as I hear it on Union they're a little more open about things. So RP is easier to find, just because people in general are easier to find, but may be harder to get involved in.

Lol, true dat. I was considering looking into Titan Industries for my reside search. But I'm feeling ya

I'm not handing it off. That said, quite frankly, the answer to that question is no.
Edit:
And it's no because there are no co-leaders anymore. If there still were, then I would have.
And we spoke about this briefly before.
If you want to discuss this further, then call me. -
So ... I've been having some serious debates with myself as to whether or not to post this up here, so here goes...
I'm sitting on an SG right now. Yes, yes, sitting on it. It has all the bells and whistles including a large map, teleporters to all zones, invention tables, etc. You name it, it's got it. The group, which was going strong for quite a while, disbanded due to OOC drama, something I VEHEMENTLY despise, which facilitated (justifiably) the players seeking refuge in RL because really who wants to pay $15 a month to deal with BS that shouldn't be there. I know I sure dont.
Those who returned, understandably, went their own different ways. Who would want to reutrn to something that left a bad taste in their mouth? I'd have left too ... but it'd be a waste to let this SG go to waste. But I digress ...
I'm SERIOUSLY considering repurposing it. I have a friend willing to redo the entire build of the base. I don't know how to change the name of an SG, so for now, it still has the name The Invictus Foundation.
My idea for the group is to turn it into a Foundation/Organization, etc. But this is where my ideas end and wold need fleshing out from like minded RPers. I'd want the group to be involved in much more than just hero work. Heroes are people too, with lives and such and that's what makes RP, all the 'other' stuff.
So the theme would be 2 parts, hero work and Paragon life. There are coalitions currently, but they've not yielded much in the way of RP fruit, so those spots are negotiable.
I've been hesitant in posting this for 2 reasons:
1) In times past I've been turned off from the CoH Virtue forum community. The negativity, trolling and general rampant uselessness are just a few reasons. I've found more community on the Euro servers in the span of a week than I have on Virtue in the past 2 out of 4 years that I've been playing the game. But with RP dying down in Virtue and more and more people are crying out for something more than just Pocket D, I'm considering giving this all another try.
2) Running an SG is hard as hell. I've done it before and I don't want to devote my life to baby sitting people. I want a balance between RL and game, so as such, you will not see me on at all hours monitoring people who should be able to monitor themselves and each other.
If you're still interested after all this, I applaud you lol. So where do we go from here ...? Here's where I am...
We can make this into whatever we want it to be.
However:
- I no longer have the time in my life right now to help those who are new to RP and do not understand the basics of it (brackets, sentence structure, backstory, etc).
- I do not want children RPers, IC or OOC. I'd want this to be an ADULT group
- I loathe and despise drama. If we, as adults, can not handle disagreements in an adult fashion and choose to drag anyone and everyone into it, there will be no place for you. Simple as that. I've defriended, gignored, kicked and silenced people for it and I'll do it again.
I'd like to have like-minded people lead this effort because I do /not/ want to be the only one doing it. It would go against principle #2 o.o
As far as character parameters, I really don't care, as long as you're a SOLID RPer. If you spell "Strike" with an "I" or a "Y" I don't care. If your Warshade gets it powers from a failed Council experiment, or something OTHER than the pre-boxed method for whatever your AT is, I don't care.
Play your character, play it well and play it solid.
Shades of grey? While I do not mind this, and mature RP themes, I'm not a fan of sadistic mass muder, chop the head off, put it on a stick, violate little girls then ERP around the remains type of RP. No, No, NO and &*(^($%^$%^# NO!
Also remember that, whatever choices your character makes, IC decisions will have IC consequences.
If you're STILL interested in starting an SG after all this, send me a PM
If not, no harm no foul.
HOWEVER
If, after monitoring this thread, I find nothing but trolling, bashing and more rampant negativity, I'll kindly ask a mod to remove the entire post.
Thanks for your time -
I love this post! I wish I could help out, but sadly I'm in kinda the same boat. I LOVE RP. It's what's kept me in CoH over the years.
But the people I've RPd with are gone or going or what have you and the SGs I'm in aren't consistently active. Not to knock them at all because it's great when they're around and our times mesh, but outside of that, things are quiet both in game and on forums.
I love writing and building a character and seeing where she grows. But as of late, I've found that wanting on the unofficial RP server in the US. So much so that I'm seriously pondering trying out the Union server as they seem to have it much more together.
Anywho, don't wanna hijack your thread. If you do find something, gimme a shout out. I'm @Tanklet. -
An active rpvg with a solid canon would be just the thing to get me to finally play villain side.
-
Might have something to do with the fact that I, just now, couldn't see AP1. AP2 could be a holdover fromt he invasion.
-
Heh, I can type and fight to a point. If the team is steamrolling things, I do more typing. If there's need for serious assistance, then I do more fighting.
The flighty character I play though, she has a lot of depth and personality. So she does chatter quite a bit. But when she loses the conversation, it's because she's always pondering anywhere from 1-5 things at a time. She's big into just thinking for the sake of thinking. That way, if (when) I lose track of the conversation, it's as much an IC thing as it is an OOC thing, lol -
Quote:I can see how chat can be fast moving and confusing. Luckily for me, I've been used to multiple IM windows and actually look forward to the action that keeps my mind occupied.I'm guess the other way on this matter.
When I started playing this game in earnest a few years ago. I didn't do any role-playing in chat hardly at all. Instead I went straight for this forum here and started posting character descriptions and asking for invites into existing threads. Role-playing by forum post is much better for me. I know who is doing or saying what and I have time to write out detailed replies or moves. And I've had a lot of experience role-playing by e-mail, web fora and BBS.
For me, chat just isn't the ideal medium for this stuff. I don't type fast enough, I keep arrowing back to make corrections and, in a crowded channel, I just can't keep track of who is replying to whom. Chat is just plain confusing for me. I've recently tried it again on Virtue over the last few weeks and it's still confusing. And a lot of the characters I've built just don't provide the kind of interactivity that chat requires but they are real easy to write about and therefore seem ideal here.
Right now, since I've seen such a drop in RP on Virtue, I've found it necessary to seek as many other avenues of RP as I can to keep me interested/occupied.
I LOVE getting into the nooks and crannies and depths of character writing.
But I do relate ... I played a character last night who's intentionally flightly as an IC way for me to explain how I manage getting lost in a conversation ... (or a map) -
-
Wow ....
I JUST realized that I misspelled "PLAYER" in the subject .. WTF!?!
And you people didn't TELL me!?!? O.O
Of all places for misspelling ... a place I don't think i can change. Roflmao! Figures
EDIT: nevermind ... fixed original post XD
I think I need a nap -
I may consider transferring a character to Union. As much as I'd like the idea of starting a character from scratch, the low levels are painful.
Hopefully the RP griefers vanish. I never understood why people think griefing is humorous, but then again, I scarcely understand people, heh.
And Kitty, I'm not new to channels and how they work. However, in a roster of well over a hundred members, being the only person speaking (or 1 out of 5) doesn't really accomplish anything either ... just sayin.
AV - Were you in the team I was with yesterday? I was on Molten Terra. She's flighty, isnt she? lol! My excuse for when I fail at multi-tasking XD -
I'm a margarita lass myself but hell a drink's a drink
Thanks for the warm welcome! I started working up a tad of an intro. Just an ooc bio for now.
*sashays to the corner with her fancy tropical drink in hand* -
Etheareal Morningstar
Mystic Daydream
I have a sonic corr with a good name too, but damned if I can recall it atm lol -

Hey, folks. Just figured I'd throw a shout out. I've been playing CoX for about 4 years and this is the first time ever that I've found the Virtue RP to be lacking, hard to find or non-existent. So I'm looking to try something different.
I may be poking my head in here more and more, seeing if there's something I can get into or if the RP compass on the forums happens to be on and pointing in a particular direction.
In the past I've been turned off to the forums. Negativity, random uselessness and just my lack of patience. But my love of RP wins over every time. And heck, why continue paying $15 a month for something I'm not thoroughly enjoying.
So, I'm hoping to be welecomed here and meet some new friends. Maybe find some new SGs. My global roster is now full of people who really no longer log on or who have just gone silent for reasons unknown.
I'm not always online as I work during the day and live on the east coast of the united states, lol, but if you see me, feel free to say hi. I'm @Tanklet in game.
Also more than willing to throw in a character or two to help RP plot lines.
So ... that's my story -

OMFG!!!
What active RPSGs are already coalitioned? I'd TOTALLY find a char to apply. That's AWESOME RP setting.
