I do know for a fact that it's been more than enough to be heard. And there's no intent on letting it end here.

Irony of irony ... the OP is now on my ignore list

Quote:Disagree. 3000+ people on Virtue alone? 33 AP instances on 1 server, with a queue of 300 waiting to get in, Second server filled within moments, spilling over to a third.
If yesterday's Atlas Park rally represents our outcry's crescendo, then we may as well pick up all of our toys and go home.
Quote:But after yesterday's rally, I noticed that most of the Internet-at-large had branded our community the "City of Children" (and a bag full of other colorful titles) within hours, and completely misunderstood our protest banners as being, well, PROTEST banners. THE PUBLIC AT LARGE IS STILL NOT AWARE THAT WE HAD A UNITY RALLY. And if you want more of my opinion, I think a significant portion of the player base also believed themselves to be attending an angry protest against NCSoft. Someone mentioned that players should have been using the /e lotus emote instead, or other similarly non-aggressive postures. That person is a genius. Wish we'd listened to the genius. Oh, well, maybe next time.
And I'm not sure what channels you were listening to, but I was in the top 2 server wide channels (help, and LFG) and everyone made it very clear why we were there an what we were doing. Not to mention the coverage her eon the forums.
I may not be the most rose colored glasses person around. I temper my hope with the reality that it may or may not make a difference. But, when the red names and devs themselves tell us how inspiring we are, and how our voices are being heard and NC$OFT has been in "talks" (yes whatever that means). Then I, for one, know that the efforts being made, the petitions, the letters, the internet, and celebrity coverage is in fact making a difference. What that difference is, or will be, who knows. But fact of the matter is it's being heard. -
Quote:^^^ThisI've read the EULA. I'm paying for access to servers. After Nov 30 (or earlier if they decide) there will be no access to servers.
I'm not asking for money back for time that I've played or will play or while servers are available, nor for any items I've purchased from the store. I'm only asking that all customers get money back for services that will not be rendered.
I pay for COH I expect COH, not GW2 credit.
Game companies shouldn't get a pass just because it's a game. The lesson I will take from this is to never prepay more than a month again on any game.
Just saying...
Though we monthly peeps (me included) wait with baited breath to see if we'll get knocked to freemium when the next monthly cycle hits where we would've been billed but aren't gonna be.
There's ups and downs to every situation. -
Quote:We got points from being billed. If they're not billing us, they're not giving us points. Just saying, this situation is lose/lose enough as it is. We're lucky we still -have- the game at this point, and are fighting for our heroic lives to keep it.Well damn. I was hoping to use my monthly Paragon Points to buy Water Blast and give that a spin during the next couple months.
I don't see why they have to withhold our points. It seems like they could very easily continue to give us the opportunity to play the game as we used to, as it was all electronically mediated ... unless they're doing some weird torture thing, where they're going to turn off the game system by system ... losing email one week, and then chat channels, then bases, then WW/BM, then merit vendors, ... and then roll up the game, zone by zone ... -
Quote:ROFL I would never ask you to do such a thing. What you managed here was epic enough. And I'm proud to know that she's in there somewhere. [She, being my toon of courseDon't even ask me to find where it is. Because the placement is random every time I run the script, and because I made each entity name its ID so I could debug my script, I have absolutely no idea where any characters is, besides the four I placed manually. But every single one of them is there, somewhere.

Quote:Glad this was stress tested. It'd be dirty for someone to hack it when these guys worked tirelessly, unpaid, just so we'd have a way to preserve our characters.Well, TonyV said it was designed to tamper-proof the contents of the file. It'd be pretty lame if it was a straight CRC32.
It's not, check yourself.
Calculated the CRC32 for the file as-is: not a match for the embedded hash
Removed the XML tag after </character> and computed the CRC32 without a match
I also tried a bunch of other tricks I won't post here because they're naughty.
Nope. Not trivial. -
Quote:They're not as hands off as you might think. A couple posts from this very thread have already been removed. Unless the posters themselves did so..Kitsune, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Of course there always have been people who disagree with one another on the forums...on ANY forum what I was saying though is that a lot of posters have been more venomous than usual.
It might have something to do with the mods being more hands-off than usual due to obvious circumstances.
We have done well yes but we need to tone down rage just a tad. -
Thanks. Guess I can only wait.
-
And this is my worry ... so many ppl keep saying that if you were VIP when the announcement hit, then you're VIP till the end. And I don't think that's true .. My monthly sub hit JUST before the announcement, and I'll be effing pissed if I get dropped because they've decided to pull this ***** move.

Fan freaking tastic! I couldn't find my character ... but .. then again ... there were 3000 of us 0.0
-
I couldn't choose .. so I sent you a few o.o

Last I recall, the store/market on beta was taken down. I could be wrong though.

I found the Incarnate Well
Don't ask me I'll never tell
I got a Midnighter spell
But it's go-ing away
I'd trade my IOs for a wish
Spent all my nickles on this
Wasn't looking to quit
But it's go-ing away
Paragon was holdin'
Fast snipe, things were fixing
Mot died, Hamidon's growing
Where you think you're going, baby?
Hey, I just met you
And this is crazy
But here's my global
Save the city, maybe?
It's hard to not fight
with the villains
But here's my global
Save the city maybe?
And all the other games
Try to chase me
But here's my global,
Save the city, maybe?
I've got a Bots/Time mastermind
We'll group for Faathim the Kind
'cause Doctor Q is too much grind
But it's going away
I'll beg and sign and protest
That farewell post is a jest
I didn't know I'd be such a mess
It's all going away
We've all got to hold on
I'm sure, we can show 'em
We'll fight, Tweet and YouTube
Where you think you're going, baby?
...Yeah, maybe this isn't that great of a protest song.
LMAO
Wayyy too much time on your hands:P

Quote:I'd also be interested in doing something like this. Working on a story with multiple people involved and all that. It sounds like it would be fun. And a nice creative outlet.
Here's an example of -some- of my writings:

I get what you were talking about, and am interested. As are a few others, from the posts I've seen. Nothing against the cooperative efforts of plans A - Z .. I'm not knocking them at all. I just think we don't necessarily have to hold & wait if we're inspired into doing something creative right now. So, if you've got something you wanted to open up, looks like you've got some contributors.

Quote:Not updated since July 2, 2010...Quote:You know, it would be kind of cool if someone created a website specifically for allowing players of the game to upload their works related to City of Heroes, whether it's stories, comics, fan-art, etc.
Maybe even allow for groups of people to work together towards creating a 'shared universe' type thing between the comics and stories.
Though to be fair, Tropic has not posted in a very long time and I don't know just how much, or if, the site is maintained these days. -
Quote:I'd take you up on that offer. See ze sigI've always wanted to contribute to something meaningful, in terms of story writing. Put my money where my mouth is, as it were. No-one's ever taken me up on the offer, however
Really, I love all things writing. And I've been wanting to RP with more people on the server. Looking for any excuse for collaboration. -
A link would be helpful ... I know my characters won't end with the game. And I intend on writing for them, and maybe some forum RP. I'd love to know of others doing the same. Maybe get to collaborate with those I could never RP with in game.

*hugs XM* Even though we RP'd quite a lot ... it somehow seems not enough. And, I disagree, I think naming your character XM Radio was by far the most awesome decision you made. It fit the concept, made the character iconic, and you made it work. It was you in a nutshell.
I remember XM playing music for Tara when she was down, or to help her concentrate while working in the lab. I remember XM playing upbeat music when Daria was out leading a team. I remember Daria finding XM in the library listening to soft music while perusing the books. No .. XM Radio was a great decision.
You're more than a player. You're a friend. And I do hope we keep in touch. Maybe join Formspring? I have an account for Mandy that I deactivated for a while ... but I anticipate bringing her back. She'd love to keep in touch with her "big bro."
In whatever you do, know that I count you among the awesome in my book. Ask Dorian/Alex .. that's an elite group
Cheers ... *hugs again for good measure* -
I remember you from Freedom Factor
