  1. He's obviously on Steroids.
  2. A pity, I was working for gold over there... but at least my next piece will satisfy my Fantasy cravings.
  3. I played WoW for a while but the art community wasn't as open as this one... or perhaps I didn't advertise enough there.

Can I still get art from you even if I'm not a fan art virgin?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically isn't everyone a fan art virgin. I mean I certainly hope you people aren't violating all this art we make, that's just wrong!
  5. I wasn't planning on doing this piece, but EnnVee was quite persuasive, and it turned out so well, that is to say from start to finish, it flowed. The sketch took maybe 20 minutes, after some research and several discussions on which road to take with it... the ink was done over several days, and the flats went a lot faster than I've ever done. The coloring took a little longer, but this is one of the few times I colored 95% of the black lines. I kind of like the style, but man is it time consuming...

I added this piece to my Break Through gallery, and I'm quite happy it fell into my lap.
  6. Dedicated to Ennvee & Barron Overlord...

Fool in the Rain... (a little music to set the atmosphere...)

Well theres a light in your eye that keeps shining
Like a star that cant wait for the night
I hate to think Ive been blinded baby
Why cant I see you tonight?

And the warmth of your smile starts a-burnin
And the thrill of your touch gives me fright
And Im shaking so much, really yearning
Why dont you show up, make it all right?
    Yeah, its all right.

And if you promised youd love so completely
And you said you would always be true
You swore that you would never leave me, baby:
    What ever happened to you?

And you thought it was only in movies
As you wish all your dreams would come true
It aint the first time believe me, baby
    Im standin here feeling blue
    Yeah Im blue

Now I will stand in the rain on the corner
Ill watch the people go shuffling downtown
    Another ten minutes no longer
    And then Im turning around

The clock on the walls moving slower
My heart it sinks to the ground
And the storm that I thought would blow over
Clouds the light of the love that I found

Now my body is starting to quiver
And the palms of my hands getting wet
Ive got no reason to doubt you baby,
    Its all a terrible mess

Ill run in the rain till Im breathless
When Im breathless Ill run till I drop, hey
The thoughts of a fools kind of careless
Im just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah
Light of the love that I found...

edit: though my brother in law does call me the Boob Man, he says all I do is draw boobs all day. That's not true, I draw the occasional beefcake... when somebody asks me.
  12. Might be too "bloody"... though I liked it.

    Heavy Metal

    [ QUOTE ]
I have a character based on a song from the movie Heavy Metal. Does that count?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oooo love that movie, saw it in theaters when I was a kid, got the buttons for it at a convention before it even came out... dragged my cousin to see it at his college screening years after it had been out.

My favorite song from that film is "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" - check out this acoutsitc cover... even this band can't mess it up. lolol
  15. Type/Font use, that would be Typography as the art form, and Graphic Design as a whole for what you do. It's all relative.
  16. Most collectors put their Toon bios in their scrapbook section, meaning they don't give it a category, and instead choose scrapbook for that.

This is so they can fill their "gallery" with their collected commissioned work. Or their own attempts at actual art, if they are so inclined to learn and share...

    I agree with Bayani's answers.

The keywording is more so for people doing photography and stockart, which allows a searcher, designer, etcetera to look for their work based on subject matter. You could do a search for COH work by typing that in...

Your bios are pretty good by the way, from an artist's pov.

If I may counterpoint the Devil's Advocate.

What if the attacker is the defender.

A lunging side swing, with the back foot off at weird angle.

The former attacker is defending with the full length of the blade blocking a horizontal batter's swing, thus throwing off the bottom hand on the katana's grip from the "clang" of both blades, in this case the heavier Rularuu...

We are looking at a reverse angle, that has the attacker on top view, but is actually the Defender from behind view.

Okay I'm reaching. But it would explain a lot of the "mistakes"... I agree on the point of the unsaturated background and the over use of lighting effects. I believe a warming up though of the background would have been a slight disassociate with the sudden warmth, and that a slight tinge to some of the lighting effects could have made one more important than the other, instead of all of them being the same wattage.

Overall however, I think it is very aesthetically pleasing and skillful.

I'm more bothered by her peach size chesticular areas, that hang rather non superheroically... quite distracting.

I was paired up with Bayani. He sent me info on his villain, Salarin. Here are the pics sent. headshot. full body and his bio info.

Reynaldo Gaudiel was an engineer for the Filipino government, specializing in agricultural technology until his weather-controlling prototype rendered over 20% of Filipino farmland unfertile. He left the Philippines in disgrace and moved to the United States, where Crey Industries hired him to design new armor suits for security deployment. His designs were initially successful, but the project was eventually shut down by the hero known as Bayani. In order to cover up the mess, Crey decided to eliminate all project members and targetted Reynaldo for assassination. Reynaldo, ever the survivor, took several of the suits for himself and vanished to the Rogue Isles to escape both the law and Crey. He now works as a mercenary, selling his services to the highest bidder.

And now, for my take. The theme was 'classic' so I tried to make him into a golden age character, but since I've never really been good with all that 'age' stuff he is probably more a mix of the gold and silver ages, but hopefully still fitting the 'classic' image.

First the bio. Since I went for a golden age look I figured I would transport the character back into the golden age timeframe and see how different circumstances could lead to a completely diffeernt result.

Reynaldo Gaudiel was an engineer for the Filipino government, specializing in agricultural technology until it became obvious the tensions prior to WW2 would plunge the planet into conflict. He turned his technical prowess toward ways of aiding the Phillippine military, as he had suspected Japan would use any such conflict as an excuse to aggressively expand it's empire across many coveted areas. The attack happened much sooner than he had expected and he was forced to take his research and go into hiding during the Japanese occupation. Unable to aid the military he instead experimented with ways of augmenting himself. The result was a powersuit that gave him special abilities, enabling him to take the fight to the enemy. He was instrumental in finally driving the invaders out and was proclaimed a national hero by the Philippine government.

    And the pic.

As a Filipino, and an Artist...

I really like your costume except for the helmet, even though I get the concept. I think it would work better if he didn't have the mask to hide his "classic" Filipino features, after all this isn't Captain Generic Asian...
  19. Okay coffee is brewing, and here are those books:

    Hi-Fi Color for Comics

    and

    How to Color for Comics

    A warning...

Guru-eFX, the professional coloring shop for the Industry was supposed to publish a new version of their old 2002 book. It has been on back order on several sites, but the truth is these guys are SO busy, they haven't finished the book yet.

Antartic Press their publisher shows it with a new cover, and there are 2 versions, an Ultimate done in 2005, and an Advanced, which I believe is the one they have been promising to finish.

Don't order the new one unless you want your money to sit in limbo. Or if you believe they will finally publish it, good luck in your order.

The 2002 or 2005 versions are both fine. Order those. you can get them fairly cheap as I showed you in that link above.

The first book by Brian Miller and his wife Mitsy is very good. They have their own forum, and THEY answer your questions.
  20. Seriously though, I can't stress enough that if you are new to these programs, they are NOT going to make you a comic artist over night. Comic Art is not clicking a bunch of buttons like you're in some kind of massive multiplayer superhero game...

Wait. What did I just say? Focus.

Okay so what I'm getting at is... you're gonna need a tablet to really get a "feel" for what these things can do. Without one, you're only playing in half the pool.

You can do it, but I wouldn't call it swimming. Wait. What? Focus.

Try going old school first, then apply that to these programs. You seem to have some drawing capability. Can you show us an example of a finished piece, if you have one you want to show that is...

I have an entire folder in my DA favorites called "Art Tutorials", it covers a wide range of what I wanted, still want to learn. And also the styles that I like or think could be helpful to learn.

Click my signature>Faves>Art Tutorials - (scroll down on the left yo, on the left!)

EDIT: or you can click here

If you want a book, I can recommend 2... but I'm not awake yet. I will paste those in for you later.
