    Another big Fail on the Red Side CoP. This time the Trial was spearheaded by @Ghoul Slayer. I feel real bad for the organizer because he spent 2 days helping folks get Nukes for this run.

    So what went wrong? Well, for starters, we only had 5 players on Vent. Now this should be the other way around; we should have maybe 5 players NOT on Vent while doing the Trial. I think the lack of communication between the teams was the major hurdle for our Trial. We also seemed to lack enough damage on the teams, this was evident with the 1st attack on the AV.

    I'm feeling pretty disheartened with this CoP for Villains. It seems written in stone that Freedom's Villains cannot succeed at this mammajama. I will not attempt one for a while.
  4. I did another Red Side CoP tonight(8/28) on the Freedom server. The event was hosted by @Venam99 - ButtahCup - of the VG Strikeforce Infinity.

    We loaded OK into the Trial's map and while bringing down the Obelisks most of the players crashed out of the game. I did not crash myself, but I was told that the game crashed very quickly and without warning. It crashed to the Windows screen. I know that 5/8 players on my team crashed in this sudden manner.

    I have not been on a CoP yet that has had this bug occur.
  5. Today I chatted with a player who has lead a couple Red side CoPs.

    This dude's Global chat handle is @Ghoul Slayer. I can tell you from experience that this guy runs several TFs a day and is a strong team leader. I partook in one of his CoP runs recently - which was unsuccessful.

    Anyway, Ghoul Slayer will be running another CoP run come Monday at 9PM EST.

    While chatting with this guy, he mentioned that he was coalitioned with this player who plans on running the Trial on Saturday. Ghoul Slayer did not know the time, but told me to contact an "iceunshackled" if I wanted more info. I tried several time to contact this character name but was not able to get through.

    I mention all this as a "FYI" to all of you on Freedom that are as desperate as I am to get a successful Red side CoP trial completed.

    This happened on 8/26/10.

    I was monitoring the chat channels Thursday Evening when I see this: "CoP forming up in RWZ". Immediately, I found this odd because why would someone form a Trial in RWZ? But nonetheless, I headed to the zone on my MM - ya see I'm hard-up to do a Red side CoP. So, I get to RWZ and go to the SG Portal. I find a small group of folks hanging out like they are forming a team. I ask for an invite and get teamed with a Brute who is leading. I find that I am on the 1st team. The members of the team start chatting about how they have never done a CoP and that this fact should make it more fun. I am just about to ask for Vent info when I take a gander at my teammates. Sure enough one of them is only L42. Without comment I log off.

    I would say a good 1.5 hours later, I see someone complaining in one of the chat channels. Apparently, this CoP Trial could not start because the dude leading it did *not* have a mission computer in his absolutely huge base. From what I gather 20-something players combed this guy's maze of a base with 3 control rooms, and found no computer to start the Trial.

    The player complaining in the chat channel could not believe that someone would waste the time of 20 players on such an ill prepared event. There was also some mention of the Brute leading the Trial being an E-Bay player, to this comment I do not fully understand.
  7. Last night(8/24), the "Prophets of Supremacy" SG lead another successful CoP run. This time they were able to do it in less than 9 min.s 30 sec.s. Yeah, that's not a typo.

    By my count the Prophets have done 3 of these Trials successfully, and the entire Red side Freedom server has yet to do 1! I find this both disturbing and at the same time motivating.

    Last night I was also chatting to the person who put together a Red side CoP run on 8/23 or 8/22, and he voiced his concerns over the Trial failures. This @MrsLott went on to say how they had a lot of trouble with the AV. I got the impression that he was looking to run this sucker again but under different team conditions. MrsLott is associated with Freedom's Chronos... VGs.

    At this time I would like to answer a question I posted earlier: What will it take for the Red side to successfully complete the *new* CoP?

    After running this Trial a total of 6 times now, I have one part of the answer. All the players doing the CoP must be on Vent. I'm not saying all have to have mics, but there are just too many directions and timing commands that need to be relayed to the teams. I firmly believe that Vent is a must for a successful CoP run.
  8. I know the Blue side has successfully completed the Cathedral of Pain(CoP) at least once on the Freedom server. But what about the Red side?

    I got to thinking about this simple question last night when I heard that the Villains had attempted the Trial again, and failed. Not only did they fail, but I heard that they did not do any significant damage to the AV. I've heard this exact same thing on a prior attempt.

    Next question. What will it take for the Red side to successfully complete the *new* CoP?

    Side Note: The one time I was on a successful CoP team, it was lead by the "Prophets of Supremacy" SG. And no, this is not my SG.

    Hi Mr Grey,

    I did my 1st successful CoP Trial tonight. This is what I think we did right.

    - Just about everyone on the teams used Ventrillo.
    - We had plenty of blasters on the teams.
    - We had /Kins providing heals & +DMG.
    - We had at least 2 /Darks to offset the AV's Regen.
    - The 1st & 2nd cycle with the AV we used NO Nukes. This was to get the timing of the cubes and AV down.
    - The 3rd & 4th cycle of the AV we used our Nukes, but in an organized manner. In other words: not all at once.

    I'm still pumped that we were able to pull it off. And, I can't wait to do it again.

    Most of the servers are now like what you have described. Many players have left the game over the last couple years. Additionaly, the devs gave out free server transfer tokens about 4 months ago. Many players transferred their beloved characters over to the 2 highly populated servers. These servers being Freedom & Virtue.

    I agree with RV normally being the most active PvP zone. But, with the new expansion coming out Tuesday, I've noticed a fair number of players in Sirens over the weekend. Many old accounts are being activated again and this means some of the PvP crowd will be coming back for a while.

    Yes.

    No, the PvP crowd that was once on the Infinity server has either: stopped playing the game, or has moved over to the Freedom server.

    Hi BlackAdam.

    Yes, /Thermal is good in PvE & PvP aspects of the game.

    No, you cannot stack your Forge on a target.

    Due to its PBAoE heal, you can couple the /Thermal with any primary. I would suggest Thugs/. With Thugs you can effectively buff/heal the Melee-seeking Bruiser for maximum performance.

    The only downside that I can think of for a /Thermal MM is that your constantly buffing/healing your henchmen. On top of this, you will be debuffing and giving commands. This constant clicking of powers is annoying to some players.

    I think what your seeing here is one of your henchmen pursuing the target. I know that with the Thugs/ if a target is deemed to be running the henchmen will follow. The henchmen will pursue the target right into its Melee range.

    I play 2 Thugs/ MMs actively, and the only issue I have ever had with the henchmen's AI is the Arsonist running into Melee constantly.

    The kind of SG I am looking for will be large enough to accommodate at least 3 Telepads in its base. This is my only requirement as far as size goes. The only other requirement I have for the SG is that it have a short name.

    Hi Bronze Knight.

    Let me start off by saying that I have NOT played Mercs/ or /Traps at all. And to assure you even more of my vast MM knowledge, I have never played the Mace Epic Pool. But, even with this major ignorance on my part, I see problems with your build. Perhaps my answering your questions on zone play will shed some light on your MM.

    Team Teleport. Do not pick this power for your zone PvP build. Just like the other Teleport power, the use of this power is disabled upon taking any damage or using a heal. Its not good when used on your henchmen & the MM, nor is it good when your actually using it on a team.

    Trip Mine. I have not used this power, but have had it used on me. I would get it. As a MM in zone you will be Turtling a good deal. This power - when slotted up - will increase your damage output nicely. Additionally, it goes quite well with the TP Foe/Web Grenade tactic.

    Web Cocoon. No comment on the power itself. Are you aware that MMs in PvP get no base Resistance? Is the Mace Epic Pool the best choice to address this short coming in your build? When your attacked in RV, chances are that it won't be by a single player. Also, 9 out of 10 players will ignore your henchmen when attacking your MM.

    Seeker Drones. I've read that they are not worth selecting and the Mids' stats support this view.

    Slotting Def Debuff in Henchmen. No. I would slot a Dam or Debuff proc in the henchmen instead. Or, use the slots somewhere else.

    MM tips for RV PvP. The 1st thing you do upon entering the zone - procure a Heavy. The 2nd thing you do - find another MM to team with. Even if the other MM will not team with you, follow him around. In zone, MMs are no big deal when by themselves but once teamed with other MMs they become ... an issue for Heroes/NPC.

    Why did I include "NPC" in that last sentence? You will find that your MM will be fighting the zone's NPC just as much, if not more than, other players.
  17. Speaking as someone who PvPs nightly in zone, I will tell ya that your going to find mostly Scrappers as your opponents. I see /Regens & /SRs mostly in RV. Mixed with the Scrappers are a few out-of-place Tankers. Once the zone gets busy, then the Blasters come out - but this AT tends to be really well played or played very poorly.

    I post this to give you some idea what is lurking in RV.

    Additionally, I've heard that /WP is currently the best secondary in zone for Stalkers.

    Fitz, very nice slotting of the powers Summon Demonlings & Summon Demon Prince.

    You should charge this dude for advice like this.

    Mega Jamie, there is more going on with the slotting of these 2 powers than reaping the set bonuses twice. Fitz managed to get a Rech of 66% on the henchmen that die the most. He also made it so the best damage inflicting henchmen(I'm assuming here) is enhanced 104% for Damage! Thats an extra 6% over any build I've seen.

    Additionally, Fitz has it so the Soulbond Build Up proc is slotted in the 3 Demonlings. The way I understand it, the build up - when activated - will affect all 3 Demonlings & the MM himself. With this slotting, you'll have the greatest chance of the proc activating with the 3 henchmen launching their attacks. And when the proc DOES activate, you'll have the greatest number of henchmen affected.

    I redid the power Summon Demons to go along with the +HP theme. Also, slotting the power this way ensures that the 104% damage enhancement in Summon Demon Prince is NOT lost somewhere else in the build.

    I apologize, I did NOT have the current version(v1.7) of Mids' installed on my computer.

    I know your looking for critique & comments on your build, but I just don't have enough experience with the primary/secondary to post. So instead of talking out my ***, I'll just bid you good luck with your MM.

  21. Is there a bug or something with the enemy Teleportation aspect of Robust?

    This large inspiration is designed to provide, "+20%% RES DMG, RES Teleport". In other words, when you pop this inspiration, you don't get TP Foed.

    The reason I ask this is because I popped 2 Robusts - one after the other. I was TP Foed while under the affect of the 1st inspiration. This Robust wore off, so I popped another, and was TP Foed once again. This occurrence happened in RV.

    I went ahead and filed a Bug report so that this might get fixed next year.

    I agree with Psylenz about the Fighting Pool & the usefulness of Forge.

    In the place of the Fighting Pool I suggest going with Speed. Hasten will speed up your debuffs & everything else you need to do damage with. SS in PvE is the ****. SS will allow you to stealth a mission map and set up your henchmen in the final room.

    Heat Exhaustion should be 2 ACC IOs/2 Rech IOs. Melt Armor(MA) - six-slot it for the love of God. Melt Armor is such a sweet debuff. Get MA's Recharge % up in the 90s.

    Go with Miracle IOs in Health and get the +Rec one.

    You have too many attacks. Think to yourself what your attack chain will be. I suggest: Thunder Strike to open with, Sands of Mu, & then Pulse Rifle Burst to clean up the stragglers.

    I never got past this part of your build.

    Therms are support builds. This is the way the Devs designed them. Therms buff, heal, & help with debuffing. I have found that my /Thermal MM works his best when supporting other MMs.

    The part about the MM being a "heavy hitter", are ya talking about burst damage here? I think you have the wrong AT my friend.

    Oh, love your TF teams - by the way.

    I think /Poison is the King of debuffing in this game. I never thought to team it with the control provided by Mercs/ though.
