Yes, /Thermal is good in PvE & PvP aspects of the game.
No, you cannot stack your Forge on a target.
Due to its PBAoE heal, you can couple the /Thermal with any primary. I would suggest Thugs/. With Thugs you can effectively buff/heal the Melee-seeking Bruiser for maximum performance.
The only downside that I can think of for a /Thermal MM is that your constantly buffing/healing your henchmen. On top of this, you will be debuffing and giving commands. This constant clicking of powers is annoying to some players.
Thermal is great, but like Llinfinity said, it is infact very busy. A lot of people don't play it because they don't like to use thier powers. They whine about bubbling, ect... If this isn't the case with you, I'd definately give it a try.
Don't forget, thermal also has a great aoe debuff and a real nice single target debuff that allows you to solo AVs.
Lastly, I'd say that thermal would work good with any primary. Just ask yourself what type of primary do you want to play? Since your first mm is a bots mm, I would seriously recommend trying either ninja's or necro just to test drive a melee mm. Both work great with thermal, (flaming zombies being my favorite).
After reading some of the entries in this I tried Thermal with my Demon Summoning and loved it. The effects play wonderfully with the character and the buffs were really nice on my minions.
/thermal is great and I've enjoyed my zombies/thermal immensely.
/gignore @username is the best feature of this game. It's also probably the least used feature.
