This is good to know. I recently created an Energy Melee/Energy Armor Brute; he is at level 18 at the moment. I am thoroughly impressed with this combination as I am with my Electric Armor/Energy Melee Tank.

After reading your post, I have great hopes for this character. He'll be my second Brute I'll take to 50. Thanks!

-I'm not a fan of Impervium: psi resist but YMMV.
-You'll want some end reduction in Lightning Field.
-I pretty sure the PerfShift proc gives end to the mobs when slotted in Lightning Field and Power Sink.

I added some thoughts to your build.
Thanks Hindenburg. Good points. Especially the rule of 5. I thought I was okay there, however, I see where my mistake is and I shall correct it. I am replacing Stupefy with Absolute Amazement.

I went back last night to see if the PerfShft did what you thought in the Lightning Field and Power Sink. It did not. Lightning Field continually sucks endurance from the mob in a pretty quick manner. Power Sink zapped all of it quickly giving me it all. I'm okay there.

However, I plan on slotting 3 Efficacy Adaptors (End Mod, End Mod/End Reduction, & End Mod/Accuracy. That, along with Absolute Amazement, will take care of the rule of 5 and increase my recovery and my recharge.

Well, as they say, 'Different strokes, for different folks.'

However, we do agree that War Witch is hot. I do wish they'd find a way that her spirit could become corporal again through the use of magic. Like using 'Raise Dead' or 'Resurrection,' whichever works best. Killing her off was a big mistake. She is a far better character than Ms. 'Hot Headed' Liberty.

Combine this with a few rules and brazilian jiu-jitsu and you have "Mixed Martial Arts" cage fighting. I watched a video once of Kyukushinkaikan world championships and they are almost move for move 2/3 of the Street Fighting set.

But, to make a long story short, they do not say "generic golden/silver age super combat" to me. Although when I do my "Iron Fist" clone I go right to them.
Okay, I can see what you're suggesting. I think as a good alternative to SS, is EM, SF, or DM. The latter you can turn down the dark powers so you don't worry about 'smoking' all the time. Likewise, I can understand your desire to have something different to work with a different concept. I guess that one of the disadvantages of playing this game for a long while.

I originally placed the MoT proc in my Whirling Hands attack. It didn't fire off that often. However, I switched it to Bone Crusher and it fires off enough that I benefit from it. I decided to load up the entire set in the power to see how it will effect my character overall. So far, It does a great job.

You are right it is not an argument. I do not argue with idiots. You made a direct statement. I contradicted your statement and offered a challenge to prove you wrong.

Your reaction? Calling me a liar. Calling what I said is "anecdote BS (meaning story)," as with authority. Then you go as far as to say I am mad because at you "for speaking the truth?" I am sorry whose truth? Yours? Reality's truth? The Tooth Fairy’s truth?

Moreover, then you have the unmitigated gall to feign being mad? You are so full of bovine excrement that your eyes are brown. You are a legend in your own mind, Johnny.

First, you son, don't have what it takes to make me mad, especially in this medium. Not going to happen.

Second, like any other authoritative internet gaming troll, you throw out opinions as if they are facts given to you from God himself. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Actions give substantial proof to support a fact, not bombastic rhetoric.

You want to prove your theory is correct and not some kind of unsubstantiated supposition? Put it to the test. Otherwise, you lose any credibility you may have had until you puked on yourself in this thread with your unwarranted personal attacks because you do not like that I disagree with you. Grow up Johnny, grow up.

From what I read from you so far, the only attack power I don't see that you have any particular problem with is Street Justice. I enjoy it on my scrapper & stalker. Give it a try. It cannot be mistaken for Martial Arts. It is almost like the fighting style Spiderman uses in a sense. Worth a shot Blue. It hits like a ton of bricks resulting in shattered bones too!

I dunno, my 50+3 brute does great with her Taunt and Hand Clap. I quite enjoy seeing people go flying after I've used Hand Clap. Coupled with 'Absolute Amazement,' it does a wonderful job of stunning everyone into next week after being knocked back or down. Its even funnier doing it to all the lvl 1 Hellions on top the roof across the street from Atlas Park. They go flying a hundred feet or so! lol

However, I kept all the SS powers. Each have their use and I enjoy using them. I cannot understand why people will remove attack powers such as jab or punch or both. Why limit yourself by taking away attack powers? I guess its personal preference. To each his own I reckon.

But that's what happens when comparing four very different power sets.
    Excuses, excuses.

Tell you what, you can find me on Freedom. Look for Quantumshock. I won't be hiding. You can join my team as we are still doing Crimson's storyline missions and Maria Jenkins’ too. So Put up or shut up. Actions speak louder than words. Accept my challenge to prove your Brute is superior to my Tanker. Therefore, you do not think I am sandbagging you; you can review my tanker in the Design form. That way you will know exactly what I am fielding. However, since my tanker has not slotted his Alpha yet, he has no incarnate abilities yet. Therefore, my challenge will allow you to use any non-incarnate lvl 50 Brute and we can do these missions together and see who face plants first.

Really? Last night three of us, all 50 lvl none incarnates at the time, completed 3 consecutive missions for Crimson that had us facing Malta/Nemesis, Knives of Artemis, and Carnies/Knives. Our setting was on +1/+5. My tanker, an Electric Armor/Energy Melee, his brute, a SS/WP, and our MM is a Robot/Time Manipulation.

During our Carnies/Knives encounter, we had to transverse a long hallway with 4 full spawns next to each other. I said, 'no guts no glory,' leapt dead in the middle of them and went about doing my business. The brute followed suit. When the dust cleared, the brute was face down and I mopped up his remaining group along with what remained of the robots.
I know how the brute is equipped and how good this person is using a brute. He is one of the best brute players I've played with. My tanker is equipped rather well too (you can see it in the thread I posted last night in the Design thread).

In the end, I might not have matched his damage ability, I did outperform him, defeated more, and never kissed the ground.

Therefore, your statement I quoted is false and based solely of bias towards a Tanker because you prefer a Brute. A brute is not the be-all to beat-all for melee ATs.

    One last point...I almost forgot.

We unlocked our Alpha Slots last night. In the mission to face Honoree and the Captain, he had the captain I had Honoree. I put Honoree down and had to do the same with the captain because he face planted again. After that, I had to take on the entire spawns of Rikiti across the bridge that the brute aggro'd. It was so bad our MM had to retreat after all his robots died.

Take that for what it’s worth. In my mind's eye, a Tanker is far from, as you said, "just an outmoded joke of an AT the devs threw under a bus that still hit like little girls." You're not just wrong about this, your flat out undeniably wrong.

As a life-long Marvel Comic fan, I believe that the Hulk is both tanker and brute.

He exhibits both attributes of both ATs. Next to someone like Thor, he has no equal in strength, endurance, and ability to absorb damage. Likewise, in the heat of battle, his strength, size, health and all increase drastically as his temper grows.

During a series in the West Coast Avengers, a psi attack caused the Hulk to go on an uncontrollable rampage. It was stated that his power has no limits the more enraged he becomes. Iron Man only stopped him after he turned off safeties, shunting all power into one single punch; Shell Head knocked Hulk out cold leaving his armor locked up out of power.

Hulk's offensive power is Super Strength while his defensive power consists of Will Power & Invulnerability with some Regeneration too. Psionics is his weakness to which it manipulated him in putting him to sleep or to calm him a few times.

Additionally, I will go a step further. On top of being Bru-tank, he is an incarnate when he is enraged. What powers he possesses is debatable. One thing for sure, his Alpha power is Musculature Radial Paragon. There is no debate there for me.

No one AT can describe him correctly because of his makeup. However, I classify him as a Brute-Tank simply because he represents the best of both sets.

  19. This weekend, I reach level 50 with my Electric Armor/Energy Melee tanker. Tonight, I unlocked my Alpha Incarnate slot too. I'm happy with how Quantumshock turned out and his abilities thus far. However, like anything, I'm sure there are some areas I can improve him.

Eventually, I do plan on using a number of purple enhancements. Though it is not listed, I have 6 slotted 'Might of the Tanker' in Bone Crusher; however, it does not show. So my % are going to be off since that ATO isn't listed. Thanks.

Actually, 4 slotting allows you to increase your healing powers by 6%. Combing that with my Energize healing power, which I have 4 slotted Numina, I have 12% healing increase, 24% Regeneration, 3.76 hit point increase. That's why I see it as worth it.

Anyway, see what other people say. Or just try it your way, and see if you like it. If you dont, then maybe you could respec later.
That's what I believe. Regen & hp boost is what I'm gunning for. Since Mirale's +Recovery is geared towards endurance, slotting it in PP along side Perf Shft +END should be the smart move, especially with PP always on.

Yes, thanks. I have both Energize & Power Sink. Life savers if you ask me. Right now I have 4 Perf Shft +END slotted where I can and that really helps, especially now that I have PP. As I told UnicyclePeon above, I'm thinking putting +Recovery along with Perf Shft +END will do the what I want; all but eliminate endurance issues until becoming an Incarnate.

    Numina: Heal/End or Miracle: Heal/End

That's also the order of importance for the enhancements if I have fewer than 6 slots used. This is no rule carved in stone, though. I often slot full sets of Numina for set bonuses, or skip stuff like Miracle +Recovery if I already have sufficient endurance management.
A concur with you. I have 6 more slots to use; however, I believe I'll use them to obtain increased defenses. I'm regenerating at 3.1 hitpnts per second. So I think I'm good there with my healing sets.

Thanks all, your replies helped confirmed what I believed would be the best choice for where to slot this enhancement.
  21. I have acquired Miracle's +Recovery and Regenerative Tissue's Regeneration to use with my level 47 Electric/Energy Melee tanker.

I slotted Regeneration in Health alongside my Numnia's +Regeneration/+Recovery in Health. In order to do this, I had to remove one of my slotted Numnia's enhancements. However, I did not want to break up Numnia's 6% (4 Enhancements) increase on healing powers to slot Miracle. This benefit helps with my Energize power.

Then it hit me, I have Physical Perfection. Since this epic power is dedicated to +Regeneration and +Recovery, Miracle is the perfect place to slot with Physical Perfection. I have Performance Shifter's +Endurance slotted already, so this should be a good match up.

Before I did that, I wanted to see what others think about and if this is a good choice or should I just slot it in Health? Thanks.

There kind sir or ma'am, you doth assume too much putting words in my mouth where they were never before found.

Had I said or indicated in such a manner, I would speak directly to that subject, not beat around the bush, or have some hidden message for someone to read into.

Gaming companies do not make it a habit to advertise their need for writers, especially ones that are successful as NCsoft or others that I had previous involvement.

The fact remains, both people I challenged can still submit their published writings to the Developers to be part of their writing stable. IF (let me put that qualifier in there to satisfy your needing for clarification), if they want to use these two, they can. If not, they at least attempted and can have satisfaction in putting for the effort. You would have them not do anything based on an assumption.

Moreover, yes, one can complain, gripe, moan, and decry writing all they want. They are welcome to it. However, my point still stands that they will still sound like a broken useless record. I will take it further, those who continue to act in such a manner; eventually they will lose all credibility. That kind sir or ma'am is a fact, not supposition or an assumption.

Oh now that is a really cool idea/suggestion.

Not sure if that's the case. I absolutely love Energy Melee. I am having more fun using it than I do with Super Strength. I laugh everytime I see a group of enemies walk around drunk looking after stunning them with Whirling Hands or Bone Smasher! lol My second favorite is Dark Melee.
