  1. Ok then, go storm....energy! Never seen one of those, lots of lovely kb. I suggest explosive blast and energy torrent slotted 2 acc, 3 kb, 1 rechage and go to town
  2. Go storm/dark...not sure how you'd swing it concept wise but an cone immob that doesn't stop kd, on top of freezing rain...too good to pass up.
  3. I slot 2 acc, 2 disorient, 2 recharge in wormhole. Replace recharge for more disorient or range if you find it's coming back faster than you use it.

    DS firstly needs acc, of course, 2 should do. Slotting intangibility encs in phase powers actually increases the magnitude. I beleive with one intang duration it will phase bosses in one go, but dont quote me on it, i've not tried it. Rest i'd do recharge, though you shouldn't need it that often.
  4. I can understand propel being a pointless power for a dominator. You have enough attacks in your secondary and the animation is so long it's very bad for building domination. Still looks damn cool though.

    Was so wishing you wouldn't ask that.

    Well it slows, it damages, it immobilises, it spawns a vine for every foe i think and more when they die. It will follow you around through missions and affect different mobs, so is effectively perma with hastenand 3 recharge.

    Most important thing - IT TAKES AGRO! Single most useful thing about CC is you can spawn it on a mob and they will all attack the creeper patch as it counts as a pet and is targetable.

    Plant is such a safe primary, creepers completely soaks up the alpha and seeds recharges really quickly. Brutes can hate me in teams because my dom is the 'fury-killer' (tm). You can open in complete safety even against high lvl problematic mobs like malta or longbow etc. Unless the vines get killed really quickly and they turn on you, but i've never seen this happen in 40 lvls.

    Creepers>seeds of confusion>roots>fling thorns, then the odd attack while they all kill each other, ur aoes damage them all and you get a very high percentage of the xp depite confuse with little risk.
  6. Sorry again that i missed it last night guys, was looking forward to it but forgot i need to lvl my tank to at least 15 by friday for an SG TF. Add in the fact that after the server came back up i still couldn't connect for another couple of hours and i really didn't get very far at all
  7. The pet will attack the closest hostile target, usually the MM, following it's usual agro AI afaik. Try it ingame by confusing a consiglieres singularity...great fun

    Have you ever met a fire blaster? I get like 3 seconds, maybe 5...those trigger fingers are itchy

    I may put off stamina till 24 to get ice patch at 20, should help a lot.

    oh i think i see. Tanks are the one AT i've no previous experience with but you hear alot about tanks not being proper tanks without taunt etc. That combined with the fact i have ALOT of trouble keeping agro last night with just CE i figured i was just missing taunt. I did notice it was just the Lts though, i had the minions complete attention, so must be that bug.

    Might still keep taunt anyway, i can see her turning into a pure 'tank' build rather than any kind of scranker.

    Tanker section seems REALLY quiet and i'm quite suprised i don't see a thread about the problems with taunt aura's atm. I found out too late on my lowbie tank and ended up taking taunt earlier than i wanted because i thought i was just [censored] at tanking

    So anyway, a question about agro and taunting etc. I duo my ice/ice tank with a friends fire/fire blaster. I have to maintain agro through the massive AoE damage he pumps out. Is it possible to override a tanks taunt aura (slotted with a couple of taunt durations) by massively outdamaging them? Can they steal agro even through taunt?

    I really should know having played a fire/fire to 50 but tbh i was concentrating on myself and prolly didn't notice the lengths our tank went to to keep me safe

    Would CE, icicles, ice patch and the odd attack be enough to keep the agro in this duo or is taunt a necessity? Assuming of course the current problemis resolved soon.

    I went ice/ice in the end, currently lvl 11. Actually had problems keeping agro off my fire blaster with just CE so had to pick up taunt at lvl 10...made aa world of difference, we can go through missions without him getting hit once. Had to put build up off till much later but tbh considering whether its even worth taking it...my damage is pants and completely unnecessary with a fire blaster. There were some mobs that once they agroed to him just wouldn't be taunted with CE and punchvoke...especially vahzilok and troll leutenants.

    Also, i've only recently done the low lvls but were there always so many orange Lts in a duo heroic mission? Maybe i'm just noticing them now i'm a tank but spawn mobs and lvls seem a little harsh atm.

    EDIT: Oh...just spotted the stuff about tanks agro auras being borked and not taunting properly. I assume this goes for CE? It seems to fit as it was the Lts that i couldn't keep agro from. I shall be annoyed if so because i've taken taunt much earlier than i wanted and had to put off more interesting stuff to much later.

    heh i read that as "rather subpar power" first time round and was preparing a solid butt-whooping

    Apparently some slot it with acc, but i cant say i've ever seen it miss. I think the acc might be for the immobilise it does but you have roots for that, or thorntrops if you must. I must say on my duo team of my plant/thorns and my friends ice/rad corrupter i get most of the kills due to creepers. It might not look like much damage but it seems to add up nicely so i'd try slotting 3 damage if you got slots spare.

    If you have a very tight build like most doms do, or don't solo much, just stick with 3 recharge, it's great as it is.
  14. You know i did notice something the other day playing my elec brute after a bit of a break from her. Got a crey mission...great i thought, lots of nrg damage. Got hit with thunder strike from a red crey tank boss and it near halved my health. Now i'm pretty sure that i've shrugged off alot more damage than that in the past. Whole herds of nrg using mobs never used to tickle so much. Might just be remembering incorrectly though, but it did make me blink.

    forgot to mention that i haven't actually rolled this toon yet, and my other option would be fire/ice, which is a really tough build to fit everything into.

    What are peoples thoughts on either fire/ice or ice/ice as a primarily "tanking" tanker to herd for and protect a fire/fire blaster. The new heal on fire/ looks VERY nice and i suppose i would run tough to beef up the armours. Also, would get away with running hasten if i go fire, as it wont jar with the concept so much. Which do you guys think has greater survivability, assuming it's played either in a duo or small team?

    Well i have a space for it and the slots, and with a fire blaster you cant have too many agro-abilitys. Plus it might add a little, help finish off those on low health that might overwise cost another AoE.

    One power i'm unsure of is frost, good damage or should i perhaps slot it for slow and recharge and use it like a shiver type power as the cone looks quite wide? Same with icicles really, could always just slot it for taunt if i find the damage is totaly unneeded.

    Can't be doing the flaming feet. Plus thinking at least one set of wings on this toon.

    But as to the rest of the build...should i bother slotting icicles for damage? My "AoE" on this toon is gonna be just frost and icicles, does their damage add up to a resonable amount over time or is it a lost cause?

    Good build, close to what i had. Don't think i can be swayed on my decision to not take hasten though. While i like my toons to be as effective as i can, i also need to stick to a concept to keep me interested in a toon, so this one's gonna be ice/ice/arctic and having the flaming hands would really ruin the look. I aready gave in to the lure of hasten on my ice/cold corrupter but shall not be swayed this time. Also, i have tried living with just SS as a travel power MANY MANY times and i've never been able to stick it out, it just drives me mental, fly or jump for me. Was thinking fly so i can get air supe, which i've always liked when i can take it.

    I'd REALLY like it if something could be done about hastens GFX, it's a really useful power that is always of benefit, but i just can't explain the GFX with my toons powersets.

    Righto, after seeing my total uberness as a fire/fire blaster, my duo partner has decided to roll one. I have decided, against my better judgement, that a tank would be most complimentary. A herding one even. After deliberating and cogitating and....precipitating, i have decided on ice primary for the most agro control.

    Was going to go /fire for the damage but thinking ahead it's not like my damage is going to mean diddly with a fire/fire blaster going like the clappers so advice/ideas/amusing anecdotes on ice melee? I'm aware it's not great damage but i think i can get an attack chain going with air superiority in the mix. I like the look of the extra control and damage mitigation in /ice. If i'm feeling stupid later i shall post a build for people to pick and fuss over like an unappetising salad.

    Incidentally i don't plan to take any fighting pools and i'd really rather avoid hasten for concept and because dammit i'm going to have at least one toon without it.

    Heres hoping this new duo doesn't get a tad dull as on paper it looks pretty safe/fast.

    I'm not sure that playing both sets up to lvl 10 will help you decide. I think you can get a pretty good idea of what ice is like as it doesn't change much but stone undergoes a pretty radical change after Granite.

    I haven't played a stone tank but i've teamed with many and the set up to and after granite seems very different. I've known several people for whom the penalties of granite have proven too much, which is a pity after 32 lvls. Not to put you off at all, great set, just seems very different 1-31 and 32-50.

    heh, see it's so rare a lot of people don't even know about it...i didn't until my second controller, i NEVER noticed it on the way to 50 with Lady, though i'm sure it must have happened.

    Basically controllers have a chance (20%) to land a critical hold thats double mag...so you'll notice on occassion you will hold a boss in one go rather than two. It's just like scrappers criticals really, although you wont notice it against anything but bosses (and Lts with mez res like fortunatas).
