No, you can do exactly that. When you switch to your second build for the first time, you have to train up one level at a time, exactly as if you'd never leveled up before (plus, you also have to do the level 1 pick).
  2. It'd work the same way as if you'd simply not trained up, or were mal/exemped. The roles should result in level 30s.
  3. Make sure you don't have the option to hide arcs you've already done selected. Also, you can search for @Arcanaville to find all of the missions by her.
  4. It's a known bug. There's not an incredibly amount the GMs can do about it.

If you can find a way to reliably reproduce it, it'll go a long ways towards helping the Devs track it down and fix it (it doesn't seem to be that common, and I've never had it occur to me).

    Defense

There's not going to be any specific point where you go from not noticing it, to suddenly noticing it. It's also going to vary greatly how much defense it takes, vs 0 defense, before a person notices 'hay, i be get'n hit les!' when toggling between the two.

It already does this by default, and only won't do this is the bind was purposely changed. You can restore the bind to default by running /unbind SYSRQ in game. Depending on your UAC setup and how you start the game (i.e. bypassing the updater, with UAC on, in emulation mode), the screenshots will get tossed in C:\Users\{USER}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)City of Heroes\screenshots (IIRC) instead.

Also, it is a driver related issue when you get the black screen. It isn't universal, but it is driver related (or at least driver-DWM interaction).
  7. Just an FYI, the X850 series is not officially supported under Windows 7 by AMD/ATI (you can use the Vista driver, but it doesn't support WDDM 1.1).
  8. It does knockback under normal conditions:

I thought there was already a semi-official thread about text errors from a while back?
  9. It's generally recommended not to delete the post, and instead to just post the solution, so that if someone else has the same problem, they'll be able to find the solution via a search (plus, IIRC, you can delete the thread if no one's responded to it yet anyways, instead of just editing it).

Try not to threadjack (it makes it harder to figure out what on earth is going on and help you).

Unless you can access the HD on your old computer, manually made a backup somewhere, or wait until Going Rogue box comes to a store and buy it, you're going to need to download most of the game (even the Architect Edition discs will be fairly out of date). The pigg's folder is pretty much 99.9% of the size of the game, so it will take a while. Up to 12 hours is fairly reasonable (I'd suggest just leaving it on over night one night, or starting the updater first thing in the morning). Generally, it's best to largely ignore the estimated completion time given by the updater (it's usually very wrong, especially when the times given are larger than the current age of the universe).

Someone could upload the various files somewhere, but I don't think there's anywhere that'll let you upload that much data for free (plus, it'd take a while).
  11. Have you tried starting the game in Safe Mode (it's a checkbox at the bottom of the patcher, on the screen where you agree to the EULA)? Also, it can't hurt to Verify the files (although the updater might have already done this automatically).

Also, try different characters (especially ones in different zones, different faction, and different servers).
  12. You could try embedding the binds in the popmenu's command, instead of using a bindfile. That won't work for all commands, and longer files, but it might be a work around (or confirm that it's a problem with the popmenu).

You think that'll get them to post them faster....

Jokes on you, they'll just leave the servers down until they'd normally have posted them!
  14. It's possible it's an interaction with the popmenu. I've never actually used them, but I wouldn't really spect this sort of behavior from them anymore than normal binds or macros.

If I was solo, I'd do the same. On a team, though, since Stalkers generally aren't big on AoEs (none of mine have anything beyond melee cones), I'd focus on taking down the boss. Stalkers are pretty much the kings of ST and spike damage, so can generally take down bosses fairly fast (most things are hurting bad after a BU+AS+ET+TF). Taking down a couple minions or Lts would, IMO, be a waste of time for a ST specialist like my Stalkers, when the AoE heavy characters would have them all dead just shortly after anyways.
  16. That's definitely not how it works (otherwise rotating bind files would largely be useless, as well as the common MM pet binds).

Might wanna post the binds like Kheldarn asked for, and also try running /showbind KEY before and after you run the /bindloadfile, as well as after the zoning.

This could be a problem with one of your teammates' net connections.
There is no client-to-client communications in CoX, it all goes through the servers.

What sort of plan do you have with AT&T? Hopefully it's at least broadband. Also, are you using a wireless connection to your router? If so, there might be some interference, resulting in much reduced throughput and dropped packets.
  18. It'll be pretty much unused. At best, you can use it to attach another monitor, or maybe use it as an OpenCL target (not sure how well ATI supports OpenCL, though). It's going to be fairly low end, so it's not going to be of much use at all.

The onboard is mostly only if you don't have a dedicated graphics card.

    Mids Crash?

What sort of error do you get? Is .Net properly installed an updated?
  20. AoE to take down minions/lts.
ST to take down Bosses (first) and LTs (secondary).

Each character will have a different mix of AoEs and ST attacks. Take my spines Scrapper... I have 3 cone attacks, 2 ST ranged attacks, and an unslotted ST melee attack. I could focus on the boss first... but why? I do far more damage if I'm focusing on AoE the mob, and not on any specific baddy. On the other hand, take a ST heavy character like a Stalker, which should they focus on? The bosses, and to a lesser extent the Lts.

Not all situations can be handled the same way, but this is the general way of how I play my characters. In practice, it doesn't matter that much what people are doing. This isn't an incredibly hard game, and debt is your friend. Feel free to just play however is the most fun and enjoyable.

A while back all the drawn weapon sets had their redraw time baked into the animation time so that redraw supposedly didn't hurt overall DPS at all. I don't recall if that was true or not.
That's what most people (including the Devs) thought. It wasn't until post-Dual Blades when BaBs started adjusting all the sets that they realized that a lot of powers had the wrong length of pauses! In many cases, redrawing would grealy improve DPS, due to wonky animation timings.

Now-a-days, most all the weapon sets have been converted to 'penalized' by redraws (as opposed to how it original was suposed to be, where you were screwed either way). IIRC, Spines might be the only set that still has the pauses built in... because Castle didn't want to touch that set with a 10 foot pole, due to fear of what he'd have to do to it, and then what the players would do to him in turn! *

    Dark vs. Thermal

Again, when facing big bags of HP...

Traps' Poison Trap has the best -regen in the game (although it'll be a bit hard to get it perma, 30 second active duration with 90 second recharge), a bit worse -res than Thermal (ST pet, -20 res... stackable with multiple uses of the power? can't recall), and some decently damaging attacks (Detonator is questionable, but Trip Mine does respectable damage, if slow on the lay). There's also various other powers, but those are more so related to survivability than of killing em faster, and generally much harder to compare (combination of -dmg, -tohit, +def, -end/recov, +res, -move, -recharge, and heals).

Bot/Traps is generally considered the best AV/GM soloer on the redside, with loads of -regen (from both primary and secondary), nice -res.

    Dark vs. Thermal

    Quote:
And doesn't having forge with its 30% damage buff on 3 of your henchman more than make up the difference for the slightly more -res in dark? Not to mention the to-hit buff that goes with it?
Your pets will already have ~225% damage (100% base + 100% from enhancements + 25% from supremacy), adding in Forge will only be ~11% increase in damage output (less if you have assault or other buffs). EDIT: That probably was worded poorly. You'll be doing ~255% damage (base + enhancements + supremacy + Forge), but it's just an 11% increase over what they'd be doing without it

With Melta Armor and Forge active, 3 of your pets will be doing 312.375% of their normal damage, while the other 3 will be doing only 275.625% of their normal output. Problem is, Melta Armor has a fairly long recharge, so it won't be up a large chunk of the time (sans lots of outside help or lots of set IOs).

Tar Patch, on the other hand, will put you at 292.5% of your normal damage all the time, for all pets. Tar Patch is perma-able with just SOs, is autohit, slows, and lasts longer than Melta Amor (5 more seconds).

I'd say that Dark wins this comparison especially if the fight lasts more than 40 seconds (in which case Thermal's damage drops to 225% and 255%, until MA finishes recharging).

Unfortunately for Dark, in comparison of -regen, the situation is reversed. Dark has -regen in Howling Twilight (-5 regen, 30 sec duration, 180 sec recharge) and Twilight Grasp (-.5 regen, 20 sec duration, 8 sec recharge), while Thermal has Heat Exhaustion (-5 regen, 40 sec duration, 120 sec recharge).

In this comparison, Thermal comes out a fair bit ahead, although not as much as people often give it credit for (Twilight Grasp's -regen is small, but isn't horrible, and is usually just ignored). For really big targets like AVs, Monsters, and Giant Monsters, generally -regen is more important than -damage (if you can hit them with enough -regen, even Brawl will take them down eventually), so I think long as survival isn't an issue, Thermal wins for which is better against Massive Sacks of HP.
