I'm pretty sure "Only Affecting Self" still lets you use any PBAoE powers as well, so most of the T9 Blaster nukes, the Scrapper AoEs (woo, jumping in the air and spinning around!), and many others, would still be usable (usable and dealing damage being two quite different things
). They could work around this by setting up a new 'disable' flag... but you're starting to get to the point where it doesn't seem like it's worth the extra effort for a single item.
In the future they might decide to revamp it- say, if they make a whole series of similar temp powers... but, till then, it seems quite a reasonable decision. Retoggling everything might be a pain for some characters, but for a lot that are sub-50 it's not all that bad. -
Mac Booster power = Mission Teleporter
New Temporary power = Mission Transporter

Quote:Players can't get AT enhancements yet. There's info about the sets (1 for each AT) on the various AT forums (and some other places, scattered). Each set has a special, AT specific proc that goes off at a set rate (like no more than 3 times / minute). You'll have to buy them from the paragon market (I believe), and they don't vanish/expire. They'll be like the other Paragon Market enhancements, and can not be sold or traded to other players (you can swap them between your own characters, though!).I'd read about the AT specific enhancers but these are new to me.
Do we have info about these? Do they vanish after a set time, should you wait to slot them? Can/Should we sell these on the market.
I can't recall exactly right now, but the set bonuses seemed fairly decent (a few odd ones), and the procs are pretty awesome for some ATs (kinda meh for others). Things also might change, since the only info we have is what people found while at PAX, I believe. -
Quote:What do you mean by a 'grav/kin ranged set'? You would prefer it to be like a Grav/Kin Troller? I don't see how you could make that into a Blast set that would make any sense.I would rather see no BR at all, then the way i see it now. Then rather a grav/kin ranged set, then something like this.
What specifically do you not like about it?
My BR/Traps Corr is just about twenty and loads of fun. I definitely enjoy the graphics and sounds so far (haven't heard the top tier sounds since the power customization screen doesn't play them), and the damage seems quite reasonable (plus, the easily perma-able -regen should help some for AV soloing).
I loved the absurdly flashy nature of Dual Pistols, and at the same time I love the much more straight forward Beam Rifle animations. It could definitely use a few more weapon model options IMO, but the few free ones are definitely fairly nice (I opted for the Incredibly Reliable Rifle)

Quote:If you try to buy something you already own, it'll fail (at least, it's supposed to... always a chance of bugs!). They fully intend to improve the market to show what items have already been bought, it just hasn't made it in yet.I noticed this last night myself. I hope they remove the buy option from those items, tell us prior to checkout that we already own it or give us some sort of credit if we buy something that was already unlocked.

This is pretty standard for a new issue release... actually, from my perspective, it's gone off far better than most issue releases. And I say that as I'm not going to be able to play due to the perfect maintenance timing scheduled for right when I had a few hour break

This. Just use your Raptor Pack for that if you need to be in the air in a mission (or, you know, Super Jump or Fly or even Ninja Run instead!).
I played around with it on Beta and had to say it felt really nice, unlike Raptor Packs and Fly. You move at a good speed, and just something about it feels right. Hard to put my finger on it, but I think it's a combination of non-sucky animations combined with the right speed, movement friction, acceleration rate.
I would love a Steam Punk themed board, though... something overtly mechanical (visible spinning gears!). Should be able to use the same animations, just a different board model and maybe particles.
When I've got some spare points, I'm likely going to buy it. -
That's not really new. Snow Leopard, for some reason, doesn't seem to always have the problem. One of the things that people wondered about back on Beta was if Snow Leopard -> Lion dropped whatever font the Market happened to use. I'm not sure if it always works for SL users (or Leopard).

Titan Weapons is unrelated (and been publicly announced).
-
Whether or not you bought them, they should appear in the character creator now. You don't see them at all in the costume creator? Or does it show them, but with the buy button alongside?
-
Did you see the login server last night, when the servers came back up (several hours late)? You had to spam the 'login' button to get in!
There's also several things broken, like the Market for Macs, scrolling the login screen, and probably a lot more.
If they had launched F2P last night also, that would have been a craptacular introduction to the game! Better to get the kinks worked out (that couldn't be in Beta), THEN launch it. -
ParagonWiki to the rescue:
Reward Tokens / Tiers!
(short version, they're Vet Rewards 2.0)
Points (I assume you mean Paragon Points) are basically a pseudo currency bought with real money (plus 400/550 given monthly for VIPs for free), used to buy various things, like costume pieces, powersets, etc, for use in the game. -
It's just the costume items, sans auras and any "powers" (jump pack, super tailer, etc).
-
As long as you stay VIP, you have 12 base slots on each server. Any additional slots you buy/get reward you get to pick where they go.
If you drop down to Preem/Freem, you get to choose individual slots to unlock (but start with 2 + extra slots rewarded/bought). There's no 'global slot' type dealio that just floats between servers (and you can't transfer slots between servers). -
Quote:If you use the 'Save Options to File' button, new characters will default to that.I dont believe there is a way to have it load the saved configurations by default.
"Normal" vs "Inverted" is pretty common in flying games and the like for controls (basically anything with 3d camera control). 'Inverted' tends to be the more popular method of controlling vertical cameras, as it's inverted to the direction of the movement of the mouse (pulling the mouse down rotates the camera UP). It's not "inverted" in the sense that it's "inverted from the default way", but just using the standard names. -
This. The Account tab is the one that has the 'claim all' button for the items, which you can do on every character. There's also an options whether to "Blink Alert for Account Items", which is I believe the closest you can get.
-
Once Freedom itself launches, just go Preem on one if you wanted. You can select which characters to unlock (and could unlock most for at most a few months of subscription time). If they've been active long enough, they should even have IOs unlocked.
-
If we start clicking the 'login' button earlier, the Devs might pity us and not just wait many hours to really start patching it, which only takes about 45 seconds! The Devs are just doing this to be mean! Dx

Based on a (tiny) amount of Googling, I'm thinking this is not due to the NCLauncher itself checking what version of OSX you're using, but an error reported by the operating system. I'm gonna guess that that they're doing something that requires some APIs/functionality added in 10.6, and not in 10.5.x, and the OS is seeing that it requires 10.6 >= and aborting (I've not done much development on the Mac, so not sure exactly how it would bring this about).
Hopefully they'll be able to fairly easily fix this... Although, I'm fairly certain you all will have to reinstall once there's an update, since the self updater would obviously not work if it can't start. -
Quote:I see no issue if you understand this isn't a biology lab. There's no reason to use field-specific jargon when the standard dictionaries define the words much broader. Dechs Kaison already posted this, but since it seems to have been overlooked... poison.Poisonous is an adjective that implies toxicity. If the word 'poison' were changed to 'poisonous' then there would be no inherent conflict. The issue lies with "injects a poison"...could be easily re-written to 'poisonous substance' or 'toxic substance' and eliminate any issue.
Quite frankly, there's far, far, far, far, far worse text errors (even if your claim was right), such as flat out misspellings ('moe' for 'more'), using the wrong word, and many other things.
You're also limiting yourself to biology. Humans have long since used those things in creative and different ways that would violate your definition (unless the substance magically transforms into a different things based on its usage). -
RougeStar, Aquathing (and now the other two that posted while I was writing this), are you both also on 10.5.8 as well? Anyone on 10.5.8 that isn't having this issue?
Did the NC Launcher, for some likely insane reason, drop support for that version?
I'm on 10.7.1, and I don't have this issue... I'm betting someone thought it would be a good idea to block such an 'old' version... (wonderful timing, NC!) -
Just for more hilarity...
Venom
noun : poisonous matter normally secreted by some animals (as snakes, scorpions, or bees) and transmitted to prey or an enemy chiefly by biting or stinging; broadly : material that is poisonous
Remember, if you're in a specific field of study, your jargon will be different than the common vernacular (hence it being jargon)! One's not right and the other wrong... it's that there's special rules and the need for such.
And as you mentioned GM... it sounds like you /petitioned this in game? You should use /bug for text errors and the like, that goes to the bug DB instead of a totally unrelated group in NCSoft (GMs will often just say to go to the boards for things they can't do squat about). -
Quote:I left. I got bored, because I'd done most of the content and the mechanics had gotten a bit repetitive after many years of it. Then, they added the Incarnate system... and then the first two iTrials. I came back for a month and played them a good bit, and then I let my account lapse. A few weeks back I resubbed, because i21 is going to have a lot of new content, and the mechanics have gotten better, plus many new powersets and other stuff on the horizon (I'm still not sure whether I'll go VIP or Preem, at least VIP for a while most likely). As is yours of course. I get your point. I just don't agree with it. I think we can see plenty of players left (even though some folks here even dispute that), we can say it's at least likely there were some common reasons (it's almost impossible they all left for individual reasons, like some contend) and I pose why I might leave or why I left earlier, and leave it up to the devs.
Several friends have left over the years, for various reasons. Content got boring. PvP died a horrible death. A newer, shiner non-wow game came out. They just got bored. Lots of reasons- but never once has anyone claimed it's because I can't respec later to another AT!!!! A few people liked the idea of Champion's character creator and left for that for a while... then they were back. They hated it. Sounds good at first blush- but it doesn't work well in practice.
In some years, I'm sure someone will do it right- but it's not a small undertaking. Balance is a horrible nightmare... to fully balance it, you would likely end up with something that looks like ATs.
You're going based solely off your personal opinion. I've heard from many people, and never once has anyone claimed any of the things you did were the reason they left. I'm sure the Devs have already looked into it, and even asked people that have left (or, they read the countless "I'm leaving!!!" threads over the years where the person says why they're quitting in the most annoy way possible... reminds me of this thread).
