Seems kind of pointless to me because honestly the trial version of this would probably lose it's entertainment value after only a couple weeks anyway. Even less time if somebody were to play it every day.
On the other hand it amuses me how many people posted an emphatic NO to the suggestion and went on to rant about how bad free to play is. They obviously didn't even read the suggestion but only responded to the title of the thread.
Anyways though, people have brought up good reasons on why a trial account isn't the way to introduce ...or more accurately, to get new people to enjoy their first time experience here. I do remember the RMT spams, and as mentioned many times before, is why we can't have nice things. -

Free accounts being basically a trial account with no "expiration" date. What do you guys think of the pros as well as the cons IF they were to implement this new trial system?
The pros I'm seeing are, besides the free part, that there will be a lot more people trying the game, old friends/past subscribers coming back and there will be pretty much a near unlimited teaming on the lower levels across all the servers (for those taking a break from level 50 contents).
The cons, pretty much that lapsed accounts will have the restrictions of a trial account and not being able to access alts that are level (not sure if trial accounts goes past level 14) 15s and up, and that influence/infamy/information beyond 50k will be halted. If for example a lowbie character has already more than 50k of inf. on them, and the account goes into the "free" phase, they won't lose anything, just wont be able to earn more.
So yay or nay for free* accounts? -
The only way you can find out for sure is go to a tailor, if you have access to the Alpha and Omega costume pieces and auras, then you have the GR item pack or the Complete Collection. The early powerset access pre-purchase version didn't come with those.

My old computer that's running Windows XP/Firefox 3.6.16 loads fine with no problems whatsoever but, my new one that's running Windows 7/Firefox 4 would get these loading issues.

First off, welcome to City of..., it sounds like you're on a trial account. You will need to purchase the full game first and upgrade the trial into a standard account, only then will it accept the time card.

Bad, bad idea.
Are *they* going to provide these on request? Even if I had all of the codes, I don't know which ones went to which account right off the top of my head.
They email you the full serial codes, though in my case, I might have deleted some of them. What sucks is I've to tried to update my security hints/answers when the changes were announced, but I was too dumb to figure out where to change those in time.

I got a wonderful page full of....
Now the fun thing is I would have to put in ALL the codes/keys of all the CoH games I have gotten. That is CoH, CoV, GvE, Architect, and Going Rouge. And if you don't have the disks handy you are screwed! So now I am stuck, not able to enter my master account to put in a time card until support contacts me again via email. Sorry if this sounds like I am ranting, I'm trying hard not to, but I'm just peeved right now. This is just what I was afraid would happen, and I will have to know this information when I set up my computer at home (am currently on my game rig at BF's).
Same here, I think I got fancy with the security answers that I forgot about them, especially since it never came up all these years. I hope support will get back to me with good news. I don't want April 28 to be my last day here in CoH/V >.< -

This has happened on a second computer that I rarely play CoX on (if this is what I think you're experiencing). After Ultra Mode went live, I wanted to update the files on said computer and on the character selection screen, my alts were all invisible/transparent and you can barely make them out thanks to the dark green outlines.
Everything is fine though upon logging in and the problem went away after playing when you start the game up again. The second computer is running on a stock graphics card btw. -
