    Power we need

I'd totally play a MM (I hate playing MMs) if they released Pony Summoning already, I'll even buy it whenever they decide to keep it out of closed alpha!

Just realize that most of your damage from A/TA or TA/A is going to be coming from oil slick and rain of arrows, to the extent that everything else is almost irrelevant. So you might as well go TA/A because the damage is so similar there and TA will get better -resistance buffs so you will be doing better there.

AOE-damage-wise, all other powers are completely irrelevant at 50. I'm serious. I might do a explosive arrow every now and then but I'm not kidding myself that it matters compared to the big guns of oil slick and rain of arrows. Single target, of course, other powers matter but not AOE.

The better debuff values from having TA as a primary will help you a lot more than the small extra damage you get from having A as a primary.
    Hi Ail,

I was thinking about that. I made a tentative build (got some ideas from yours in the 'ta sucks or not' thread btw) and saw that the debuff values are noticeably higher on defenders, unlike the 50 buff/debuff powersets I played in controllers/corrs (empathy, traps and kin, not a ton of difference on trollers/corrs). My only high-level defender is a rad and I also felt it's a set that Defenders really benefit more from.

Another thing is that my build has the same s/l def bonuses as yours but my s/l is only at 36.9% (would be at 39%ish if I took Hover like you), but yours is softcapped because defenders get much better values from Maneuvers, Weave and even Scorpion Shield (SS alone gives 3% more def alone in Defenders). I saw a corr build with softcap s/l but it was full of purples, some kinetic combat muling and it didn't have the recharge yours (and mine below) has, so softcapping a corr is way more expensive, like doing it with other powersets like time and traps (although traps work very well for me on corrs).

I'll try to translate this into a Defender build to see what I get, the idea is to grab Agility as Alpha:

  4. The message seems to be generated depending on the last date of your driver, not that you *really need* to update if you don't want to. It started appearing on my game 2 weeks ago but nothing changed ingame. I use the Windows client in a Mac so my drivers for everything are all supplied by the Apple software (my gpu is an AMD 6970M), so no biggie if your game is running fine unless these 11.9 improves something but I'm not qualified to answer that.

    Rain of Arrows

Trickshooter seems to have the best explanation, but anyway it's difficult to ask for a 'buff' to RoA when it does basically the same damage as Overcharge sans Disintegration, but Overcharge has thrice the recharge.

The fact that the only AT where RoA does significantly more base damage than Overcharge is Defenders also supports the theory that Defs' RoA is doing more damage than it should, or maybe the opposite (Blaster/Corr doing less). The pseudopets aren't properly balanced anyway, Corrs get h4x Rain of Fire (Blaster damage PLUS Scourge), Defenders get a properly modded one while Ice Storm is the same across all three.

I wanted a TA toon so I rolled a A/TA anyway, 22 now - didn't want redraw and also didn't wanna make another Fire Blast corr - the fire corr I teamed with did make me envious for a bit, RoF on a corr is just too good lol.
  6. Very nice guide!
Just one minor correction - Piercing Rounds is not a snipe, meaning it has normal range (80) but also no interrupt like the snipes
  7. Kioshi

    Rain of Arrows

Thanks Codewalker, I couldn't find the damage modifier in CoD since it summons pets.

Seems the defender version gets the edge then. I rolled a corr anyway because I like the AT so much.

I know corrs have base low damage, but in the case of RoA they're basically identical, I know Full Auto doing about 16 more damage for corrs isn't a big deal, but you showed me the modifiers are different for defs. Well as long as it's (almost) the same as Blasters I'm fine with that
  8. Kioshi

    Rain of Arrows

I put it here because I want to know if the differences in the three versions follow the usual damage modifier, so not a Corr-only question.
  9. Kioshi

    Rain of Arrows

So I was thinking about making an Archery Corr, but both Mid's and CoD are telling me that Rain of Arrows only does a little more damage than the Defender version (I know it scourges and all, but the base damage look almost the same).

So is Archery on a Corr not that good or using a similar modifier to Defs in the tier 9? I want an Archery toon that's not a Blaster and I was never able to like Defender damage. Or am I missing something? Overcharge does about 20 more base damage in the Corr version, Full Auto and HoB are alike (16-18), now RoA is like.. 2 damage less (unslotted lvl 50 values)?

    Thanks!
  10. Having a Stone/ELA Brute that could tank before SOs (and before Energize existed) because of Fault, plus several DA toons, I can assure that would work well (and like my SM/ELA Brute, would be hell on endurance, she was before power sink).

Another option that looks good to me is DA/Mace - Mace has more AoE and plenty of KD and Stuns, Clobber's stun can stack with OG to make it mag 4 and Crowd Control is much better than Tremor for damage, and you get whirling mace and the other cone too.

It would even have freed up a spot for another AoE attack. It could have been the first worthwhile snipe in the game!
It's already considered worthwhile and used by some players, since it's the only attack in BR with a 100% chance to spread Disintegration.

No changes but you might wanna check out elec control on doms and trollers, it's the best sapper set in the game now even without a sapping secondary.

Claws is what I'd choose for second place for 'lazy farming', and second only because you have to use a ST attack (FU) to get the most benefit. DB and TW would be speedy too but are a bit more gimmicky, as Elec (LRod has the targetting reticle, that'd be a shift+click for me and I don't like to use my mouse when farming, just press keys).

With SS it's just footstomp-burn-BL-EF and clicking rage and FE once in a while, I don't even have ko blow on my farming tray, which has the 4 mentioned AoEs, 3 inspcombine macros for reds, 1 for deleting wakies and the Judgement power, rage and FE are bound to keys.

Oh so you simply couldn't grasp the simple concept that the fact that it has an afraid effect makes them attack you less, since you posted 'mobs should attack you just as often'? Or do running mobs usually attack you at the same rate?
  16. I haven't even soloed my 3 BR toons (trying to like the set, it's been hard) but this has been one of the factors that is making me not enjoy the set.

I think it also makes the redraw seem longer, I'm usually not bothered with redraw on my other toons (Katana, DP, TW even) but with BR it seems like I use a secondary power and then a BR attack and it takes forever until I land an attack again.
  17. Lolwut I soloed the SSA when it first came out on my PB when she was on DOs and she's Human only, no Nova and stuff. I killed Lady Winter plenty of times solo with her and can solo with bosses way better than all the blasters I've had (ok only one made it past 32 but my PB is 25 or something like that, only has a miracle slotted besides SOs due to being kinda end hungry). On the TFs I ran with her she was the boss killer, the inherent gave her a great boost to damage due to the team's composition. Also, good AoE.

I did feel the AT was bottom tier before the recent buffs, but I'm pleased with them now (my third attempt, first with no forms).
  18. It has been declining in my experience. I don't RP but I play a lot on Virtue, the 'unofficial' RP server, and after I took a 1-yr break, I see less and less people RPing, before my break people RP'ed all the time there while on teams.

That said, on most teams I'm on (in Virtue) have RPers that use brackets to talk 'out of character' since most Pick-up teams don't RP, and people always advertise about RP supergroups there, and there's a lot going on Pocket D (although it can get creepy there, and Pocket D is not where you go to team for missions except on special events, just casual RP).

Not sure how Supergroups work for free players but my bet is that you're better off joining a RP-focused SG/VG on Virtue - the other server I play a ton is Freedom and there's virtually zero RP there. But on Virtue the chances you'll get on a team with RP'ers is fairly high and you can talk to them about it, I've been on a lot of teams that half the people there were RPing lately, although it's not as prevalent as before, I believe the reason is that Virtue has become almost (or more) popular than Freedom.

I can't speak much for the other servers, haven't seen anyone RPing on Champion but I haven't played there as much as in Freedom/Virtue where I have level 50 toons (most are on Freedom, and I really don't recall seeing RP on Freedom since I joined the game in 2007).
