What do you spend Empyreans on?
I asked this sometime ago, answers may be helpful to you too.
Hi everyone,
I've recently started into the incarnate system. I'm looking for some wisdom from the more seasoned incarnates out there... how do you prefer to spend your empyrean merits? Is 20 threads for 1 merit a good deal? Is it better to save up for the rarer pieces of salvage? GS |
With my last incarnate I also converted four uncommons + 100 threads to a rare, which was made a whole lot easier by doing the TPN.
The other thing to note is that the Notice of the Well can be converted to threads, which can be very useful if you happen to have any extra Notices on your character.
Rares, funny enough. I have had less trouble getting very rares for the last two incarnates I made than rares.

I just hoard them infinitely until I can get a PVP IO. I also used them for the fancy, shiny armor.
I used to dump them for threads, then I realized how wasteful that is. Now hoarding them for PVP IOs since trials are so quick and you get plenty of threads from running through trials anyways.
Whoops, I accidentally replied to Kioshi's linked thread.

I spend my Empyreans on Threads so that I can Tread more lightly through the Trials.
Got all the costume pieces, now mainly use them for PvP IOs. I also use them for a jump-start for new characters, as starting with a ton of threads is a nice way to begin with a few level shifts.

I highlighted the part that applies to my approach.
I have never spent an Emp Merit. Anxiety about something I need getting gated behind them means I just stockpile them without actually using them.
(FYI I also have several characters with 800-1000 regular merits stockpiled for similar reasons. Probably irrational but a hard habit for me to break.)

Breaking empyreans down into threads is useful because it means you can run far fewer trials if the main thing you're after is the incarnate boosts for use in regular content. Trials are great and everything but I'd rather run a couple a week than a couple a day. Then again, I haven't run a trial since issue 21 because I've been too busy with all the new power sets. By the time the mood strikes, issue 22 may be upon us and the new incarnate zone may well change the way empyrean merits are regarded.
