Quote:Windenergy, that's exactly why I put the Proc there in PP. I saw numerous discussions and most people say it's about 0.2 eps, and the guy I saw arguing in favor of the proc is Umbral who is great with all kinds of math in this game.20% chance of 10 endurance every 10 seconds = 0.2 * 10 / 10 EPS = 0.2 EPS, with an indication that sometimes it's more. I see mine give me 11 endurance sometimes, but it doesn't seem consistent. Maybe someone knows the pattern. I've heard argued that it's better than regular recovery, because it isn't debuffable. I'd also argue that it's worse than regular recovery, because you can't count on it, and you can get unlucky.
But the PP proc isn't a prority for me in PP. I always try to put it in Stamina when 4-slotted, and if I have the money I'll use another in PP.
It's not exactly expensive blueside. Redside... ouchie. -
Quote:While I completely agree Invincibility should come at 16 (like AAO) I disagree Brutes can't tank. In a team setting you'll have some sort of support, from buffs/debuffs or even controls from Doms/MMs/Corrs. My SS/Fire tanked a lot of stuff because of that on SOs (and of course KB IOs).Ah, well in that case, it's still a good combo.
Some thoughts:
DM is little too ST focused for my tastes for Brutes, and for what you're using it for (Bruting for teams, Brutes don't tank). While it grants you excellent survivability through Siphon Life and a powerful End recovery tool - you really do want some solid AoE damage by L30 or so.
Not saying that Brutes SHOULD always tank, but tanking benefits brutes, it's like instant fury because of the incoming attacks. That's why I have a 50 Granite Brute w/ Taunt, ZOMG survivability only with a few IOs and Fury generation is great. I only stopped playing him because he's ELM and I got sick of the lack of ST damage. I'll add Gloom if I ever play/respec him again to see how it goes, he was made a long time ago and I didn't know Gloom was so awesome.
Even Taunt benefits Brutes if you can fit it in. I was rocking my Fury on a team of squishies sometime ago on my Stone/Ela Brute... Then two other Brutes joined the team, and they both had taunt... I didn't. I was like 'ZOMG where's my Fury', they were all stealing it from me. For some reason it seems Virtue Brutes get Taunt more often than Freedom players, but that's not exactly a very accurate observation because I team on Virtue redside much less than Freedom.

I totally agree. I use a Mac for day to day things. Tha CoX Mac client is emulated, not native like the WoW one, so it runs like crap on my machine.
But even if I could run the Mac client smoothly, I'd still stick to the Windows XP client (Macs can have a windows partition since the move to Intel processors y'know) just because of Mids.
I like Herostats a lot but I could live without it. -
Yes Gavin you did something horribly wrong. I mean, mez protection can be made perma with 2 slots at level 22. What's wrong with click mez protection? Just ctrl+click to make it auto and never worry about it again, provided you do the minimum for it which is slotting to recharge IOs/SOs there. And it costs less end in the long run that the toggle ones, plus they still remain active should you be sapped or run out of end.
Even if you are a 'crappy ' player by your definition (doesn't seem the case if you tanked an ITF with a fm/sd at 35 who still probably has crappy defs, no heal and little DDR), you shouldn't think a /nin stalker is squishier than a damn blaster or dom.
Look at this very basic /nin layout (a necessary kb prot io is missing, but I decided to give you a common IO simple build):

I know you can't see numbers, but with this basic slotting (all 30 IOs, which are actually weaker than +3 SOs iirc):
- Heal recharges in 30.7 secs and heals half your hp, which should be the case for every /Nin - you'll always want 3 rech SO's worth of enhancers there and 2-3 Heals. You'll eventually want to 6-slot Kuji In Sha anyway for 5 doctored wounds (cheap + capped rech) and a steadfast unique (not expensive and you can do some SF ing to get it)
- With combat Jumping on and Hide Suppressed, 27% def to all. Good Luck getting that on a shields toon with SOs before Weave (and you'll have to get Phalanx also besides CJ), and I doubt you'll fit Aid Self on a /SD unless you gimp attacks because those are tight builds.
In the nin build, add Maneuvers and you're at 30.5%, 33.5% with the steadfast unique, enough to softcap with 1 small purp and still having the second best self heal in the game (1st is Healing Flames, second is Kuji in Sha and Reconstruction, not taking Dark Regen in to account here because it depends on mobs and is an end hog). /Shields has no heal and with similar setup but more powers (toggles, CJ, Phalanx, Weave which unlike Maneuvers need boxing and Tough first) can get the same numbers, probably at a later level because of build tightness and Weave prereqs.
But yeah, I thought 'man which primary could he possibly have to find /nin underwhelming?' and first one that came to mind was Spines. Not a good boss killer, little mitigation compared even to Ma, worst ST ever. Not that I find Spines a bad primary, but I'd say it may be the least survivable (the only one good at aoe with elec tho).
But as I said, if your heal is not recharging in 30 secs and your defs aren't 27% w/ Hide suppressed before level 25, you built it wrong, even with SOs. -
-
Burst damage ST : Energy Melee (yeah it's still good for Stalkers, not so good anymore for Brutes and lolTankers)
ST dps: Dark Melee
Aoe: Elec Melee, I find it better than Spines because Thunderstrike crits all the time (the ST portion) and the AoE part crits half the time from hidden. And L. Rod does not unhide you allowing for a TS / AS crit. Plus elec only lost a skippable power when ported to Stalkers (L. Clap), all the other sets lost powers you'd likely pick for Aoe.
And in Bill Z Buubba's thread for scrappers and brutes, elec is till ahead of Spines for st damage. -
Because of the new difficulty settings, couldn't the OP also just get a newspaper mission with a desired group at +1/x8 or something?
And I'm sure Claws can farm. My Claws/SR scrapper is not high (30) but she made 60 million in 2 hours by salvage+recipe drops in Dark Astoria. Not as fast killer as my FM/SD, but really she did well, spin is really good and recharges fast even with SOs. And much less insp usage than my FM/SD since she has 33% def and some DDR already (after all I'll get Evasion only at 35 as a scrapper), meaning 1 small purp and I'm softcapped.
Plus SR Brutes have a taunt aura which should make it easier to group mobs for spin.
Checked, Spin recharges in 9.2 seconds for Scrappers and 14 secs for Brutes.
But just compare the base damage numbers on similar Brute PbAoEs:
Spin 78.8 (rech 14s)
Typhoon's Edge 47.5 (rech 12s)
Whirling Hands lol 41.7 (rech 14s)
FSC 78 (rech 20s)
Tremor = WH but 15 radius
W. Mace 46.7, W. Axe 41.7 (rech 14 s)
Only FS wins - 106.6 (with Rage), 15 radius, 20s rech.
But you'll also have Shockwave: HUGE cone, 47.1, rech 14 s -
-
Thank you mac.
Yeah I know I'm a noob but that makes sense, especially on a toon with a lot of self-heals. I'll put an endredux in AS and instead of Hiber what do you think I could get? First thought (like what I thought the moment I read your post) was Veng for an extra LoTG. But maybe there's something more useful? -
Quote:Well now that she's SO'es and recon and DP recharging decently (and integration for passive regen, and I'll get FH at 30), plus insps, my regen stalkie doesn't seem so squishy anymore. Squishier than my /nin and /EA yes, but very enjoyable.Well it's been a while now since I leveled mine up, but as best I can remember, yeah it felt a bit squishy during much of the ride. I didn't mind that so much, it made it more fun. I didn't jack up my difficulty as high as I might have otherwise, and made good use of inspirations, and enjoyed the trip to 50 immensely.
It bothered me at times to be so reliant on inspirations when facing EBs, but considering that's standard practice when playing other squishy ATs, I made my peace with it.
The contrast between my IO'ed Regen and IO'ed Nin was stark though, to say the least.
Quote:That's a scary thought. My /nin stalker was squishier than any blaster or Dom I've ever built until about level 40-ish. And at 42 he still sucks donkey#$%^&.
She had 2 IOs only, a knockback prot and a Steadfast unique. That was enough to approach 30% defenses (22% from toggles, 5% from hide supressed+CJ and 3% from the unique). Even without the steadfast she'd be alright, 27% defs and the heal every 30 seconds. All on SO's.
I can't understand how you think a toon with such numbers at level 22 could be squishier than a blaster or dom who have no mez protection, no crits, no hide and no significant defense on SOs, unless you built it horribly wrong.
My fm/sd scrapper is far squishier and relies on insps much more, because of her 24% defs (with the steadfast) and no self heal. She just kills stuff insanely fast because of FSC and AAO 9no shield charge yet. -
Stupid post. When I PVP'd on my EM/Nin Stalker I just used the heal, my end bar and hp were close to full when I approached an enemy anyway and the heal was usually recharged. Same as my ice/psi dom, I just supersped to some npcs, used drain psyche, and I was at full health/end in no time.
This way (full health and end) is better, other toons have to rest and we know how everyone *loves* resting both in PvE and PvP. -
Quote:Yeah, you can put it in Soul Drain too although it's most likely you'll want to 6-slot with oblits for the s/l def component and recharge.I guess the + precption IO from the rectified reticule set is your friend you can put it in Invincibility once you get that but that is a little since you do not get it until 28 but once there it is low enough level you it works for explar
And man, those nullifiers... I was on an 8-man team on an open map, so there were like 1000 longbow. 3 stalkers, 2 brutes, 3 support.
I was one of the stalkers so I started AS'ing the nullifiers but there were too many, I couldn't kill them all. We wiped in the first mob in seconds. Then I told the other 2 stalkers to focus on the nullis and everything went smooth as silk because without them, the Brutes' resists and defense weren't being floored. -
One player once said here that he hated his WM/DA because he stunned everything - so w has a great 'Tanker' but a terrible Brute because he had a lot of difficulty building fury.
-
I hate i17. My game used to look like a 1st gen Xbox360 game, now it looks like an old Playstation 1 game. They screwed up users with Intel GPUs.
-
Oh ok I'll learn about this jump canceling thing when I actually start going to Siren's with the Stalker (screw it 5 more levels and I'll take her there with SOs and a Stealth IO+Stealth), I'm just posting because nobody actually answered me since the discussion got a bit derailed: Is this build ok? Viable?
Thanks! -
Okay maybe this one lol: 30% melee / 27 ranged with maneuvers off. 26% en/neg.
3.38 recovery, 1.83 end drain

He did set up an awesome defensive setup that neutralized Barcelona (of course, Internazionale has some of the best defensive players from my country
).
Haven't checked the stats but a friend told me Inter had only 27% ball possession - he really blocked them hard. -
I think in higher level play the attacks can be skipped tho they're hella cool. I mean, they do Defender's ice bolt / ice blast / frost breath damage (not exact, but similar, and that's without counting defender dmg boost when solo) and Lash has only a 20' range. They do -9% resist tho, less than a Blaster sonic attack (usualy -12% res iirc because Mids is bugged for blasters and trollers and shows 20% -res which is the defender number) and their end costs are HIGH.
I think in my DS/Pain I'll build eventually (got one to 20 on test with all three attacks, wasn't impressed except for the looks) I'll just get provoke and slot it with 4 perfect zingers and 2 mockings for reasonable accuracy and good recharge and taunt duration, plus 5% global rech from p. zingers and +maxend from 2 mockings. The attacks weren't enough for me to reliably steal aggro from my pets so they kept dying instead of losing a few hp when the aggro was on me on BG mode. -
Quote:Yup, it helped quite a bit. Energize is a good heal (same heal value as Healing Flames, but on a 120 sec recharge instead of 40), but also provides you with +regen (200% with ED capped heal) and endredux (59,3% according to Mid's) for 30 seconds.I have a very old EM/ELA brute. Did the recent buff do anything to help ELA or does it still need a mitigation heavy primary to keep it moving?
Was there any other buff? I don't recall now.
But imo unless you build for defense it can be quite fragile with say, Fiery or Elec Melee.
My Stone/ElA Brute actually tanked a SF (the sky raider one) at 23 and everyone else was at 25 (no SSK at the time, no Energize either), but the only reason I could tank +2s for 6 squishies during an entire SF was Fault and Seismic Smash (Mallets helped too with their chance to KD). Lol I used Fault so much I ran out of end while speed boosted (all my attacks had 25 SOs with only acc and endred because stone melee is so end heavy).
But well Energize alleviates the end issues on a leveling /ELA and gives you a nice heal, I'm leveling a DB/Elec scrapper and it's noticeable with 3 SOs worth of recharge and 2 Heal SOs.
I don't melee much, but /ela is my second favorite armor (dark is first, but for scrappers - but I'd never do a /DA Brute because I find it too end intensive and counterproductive to Fury. And on Stalkers I find DA lol, must be irritating to toggle on and off your mez aura(s) and one of the reasons I love /ELA and /DA is the damage aura which Stalkers lose).
I like /ELA a lot, even before the changes. +recharge bonus, damage aura, heal, psi resist, capped energy res with SOs (I think my scrapper hit it with DOs but scrappers cap at 75%) and higher base resists on s/l on the toggles than Fire and Dark Armor.
I haven't gotten my SM/ELA to 50 yet (she's old too, she's at 37-38 and with Aid Self lol) but a good idea might be s/l def. I usually prefer typed (my db/elec is going for melee/ranged) but you'll already be at 90% energy resistance since level 22, leaving negative as your weakness, fire/cold is rare anyway and lots of fire/cold attacks have a s/l component. -
Quote:The Arachnos/Carnie/longbow content is very heavy there... Meaning psi heavy and loads of -resist (kill all LB nullifiers first - brute rule #1 according to Smurphy lol)Yeah, Dark Melee/Invulnerability has the highest survivability in its element, I'd say. Just started one red side. Hope they don't suck over there. I know so very little about red side.
Oh and there are so many arachnos missions that with no perception it's sooo fun to forget you're blinded (like you killed the whole mob but you're still blinded) and rush and aggro 2 spawns lol. I know I did it a lot on my fragile dominator on 8 man teams. -
I have to level my claws/sr (30) to try some stupid stuff, since she's planned with Tough slotted, 24 hp/sec regen, 3.73/s recovery and 1852 hp with accos... plus Aid Self
(okay AoE is at 44.9% but I used 35 IOs, with 50s I'm sure I'd get the extra .1%) -
Lol, exactly my thoughts. Didn't make the game unplayable for me, but the gfx are all low quality now (Intel GPU users were f... up by the patch too). It's like playing a playstation 2 game and then playing the playstation one version after i17.

Yeah, I did the new Posi TF today and I liked the TF, but the graphics were terribad. I was quite happy with my previous gfx, especially since I know integrated GPUs suck, but hey, I could see shadows, reflections, it even surprised me, especially when setting aniso filtering to 4x and smooth textures (the screenies from the link in my OP are with aniso off on Live, so my game looked even better than that, I dunno why I was with aniso off in the pics).
I hope they fix it soon, but considering how LONG they take to fix simple bugs, I'm a bit hopeless, this doesn't look like a simple issue.
And nerdraging obviously, posting about this everywhere
