For those that I missed in the list, I basically went to the Dev Digest, and listed the ones I saw. Some are still there, but don't post too often. It could be that they have too many whip marks to come out in the open. I figure that with CoV comeign out, Christmas, then Valentines day, and then I7, that most of the rest who've poked their heads into the forums are just too busy to do post.
Serioiusly.
Could we get a list of those who we can send questions to, and expect an answer in a week or so? -
-
Mighta missed Weird, but Castle's on my list. I just didnt' do any "Odd" punctuation or anything with names..Wonder why he uses _Castle_ instead of just Castle? Wonder if one of the other members of the Dev Team uses Castle as a nick
-
A Mini Statesman with a Nerf bat as a Melee weapon?
-
We've seen a lot of the people who work for Cryptic and NCSoft that we interact with leave for other projects.
We do wish them the best, and hope their next "Home" is as friendly as we all were.
that said.
Who the hell is still here to mind the store.
I know I've lost track of who's actually here and doing what.
Can we get an updated list of who's doing what.
We all know what Cuppa does, Statesman we know to, Castle seems to be doing anything he can get his hands on(He DOES sleep right? we know Cuppa doesn't).
so can we get a list of people telling us who's doing what?
I'm starting to loose touch on who's actually developeing this game.
I see
Statesman
Cuppa
Castle
Posi
Nomad
Gil(no longer here, but HI GIL)
Awry
Alexa(Leaving)
Arctic(Leaving)
Squeeze(who only had 19 Posts. HI)
Manticore
Visgoth
Raven
WarWitch
The_Zig
pohsyb
Valdermic
that's 18 people who have posted recently enough to be on the dev post thread. 2 of which are leaving, 1 has already left.
Several we see vary rarely, I mean they have less then 100 posts. I mean Hell, I have more posts then all of them but Cuppa.
So can someone fill in who does what? Are there new people comeing in to fill spots, or people internally promoted.
It'd be nice to have a sticky with the listing of who does what so we can send messages to the right person, instead of everyone sending them to Cuppa and hopeing she passes them on. -
Sigh.. Well, good luck AS. Hope things go well in your new "Home".
-
Damn it.
this game seems to be hemorrhageing dev team members.
Wish you luck Alexa. Sorry to see you go. -
Nice post, but you REALLY should put this in the RP section.
this is the City of Villians General section. -
I have a feeling that Trench coats are realistic hair are waiting on the Physics cards to come out, as they'll offload a LOT of the power needed to the physics cards. This should hopefully allow them to make the game a whole lot more realistic in regards to physics.

Only on Tuesday nights.

hmmm.. this makes me wonder, as a certain SG that started on Liberty and expanded to Freedom for our villians has "[censored] Tuesday" as a day where we explore our sexuality...hmm.. now, we joke and have a SG mate we call Statesman for his knowledge of the game.. but.. well.. damn..You sure you arn't one of us loggin into our Vent server? -
"In the tutorial, "Outbreak", one of the contacts for new players is named Coyote a.k.a. Matthew Bragg. This character is named after the first pre-beta City of Heroes message board member, Kiyotee. Kiyotee, who was named Matthew Bregg in real life, was always the one to help out new people on the message boards. He died shortly after the game was released, and the contact was renamed in his honor."
I got this from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451018/
is this true? If so, it's something that I'd never heard of. How "soon after the game was released" was it. That contact has always been coyote AFAIK. I started week 3, so was it before that, or was I just that unobservant back then? -
I spend 80$ a month for 5mbit Cable modem and my 2 accounts. that will keep me entertained for the whole month.
they will spend that in a night at the bar. or double that. Who's the winner?
I don't explain it. My family makes fun of it. Damned shoulder Kittens and Fire imps. I hear about it every family gathering.
My fiance likes it in that she knows where I am. i'm not at the bar, or the strippers, talking to girls or what have you. She knows i'm inthe comptuer room, playing a game with friends.
It's no weirded then when in the decades past, grown adults get together to play cards, or go bowling, or do crafts together. it's the same thing. A hobby with friends. -

It's all very confusing -
Aura went on to other things at NCsoft and is doing well - she says hello.
Gilgamesh went on to another game and was replaced by Arctic Sun. Awry also came on board for CoV as a web writer.
Vyvyanne went on and is lead QA for another NCsoft game.
Valdermic and Jax also went to other games. _Spiral_ is the current QACC.
Finally, today is _Nomad_'s last day with us - she has moved on to be the CC for an upcoming NCsoft game.
But yeah - I am still here with my heroes.

Damn, think you guys need a web page listing who we should send PM's to for what section of the games.
I've been here since week 3 of CoH, and I'm starting to loose touch with who does what. -
Holiday season.
they're probobly back now, but have a few weeks of stuff to catch up on, emails to answer, players to ban and so on.
I figure we'll see REAL info and updates comeing out next week.
theres a new patch up on test, so someone is home -

I am tired of doing bank missions with full teams only to have my AS interupted because the damn headless chicken npcs that run thru the bank push me out the way. Is there a way to change it to where only mobs can push us around. I remember at one point a red name said that they were working on this but nothing has come to the light yet. It is bad enough during those missions that we get doors blocked by them but now they can interupt the AS too? Its almost like they be trying to grief us on purpose. I have had a few team wipeouts from this where I could not take out the boss due to the interuptions from the npcs and we had a few situations where we could retreat because the npcs blocked the doors.
[/ QUOTE ]
In CoH Beta, players were able to push NPCs rather than the other way around. Quite reliably, players would then herd the NPCs all into a small area, causing AI issues and horrible server lag.
I hate being pushed around, too, but I don't believe it will change any time soon. (NOTE: I could be wrong!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Then would you guys PLEASE cut down on the number of NPC's running around? I mean DAMN. Why are so many of them going into histarics(SP?). I mean, they live in the Rogue Isles for cripes sake. They KNOW that every single minute they are there, a few villians are in SIGHT of them. If they go to the bank, which is robbed on average of once ever 20 seconds or so, they should be used to this.
Just make 90% of them be face down on the floor, or cowering in a corner. Not this herd of them sprinting all over the place. Damn.. Or at LEAST make them valid targets. I'm a Villian, some civilian gets in my way POP down they go. I'm not going to stand for it. -
You know what I found most annoying.
The lack of PICTURES.
I know, I KNEW there were none, but I was hopeing to see some concept art or something.
I mean images of the hero's, the Way the city looked at the time.
Pics of the Nemesis robots.
SOMETHING..
I found my self in the later half of the book hitting the web trying to find images of Nemesis Bots that fit the description.
Ohh well.
And APRIL of next year?? sheesh. Long time to wait for the second book. Ohh well. -
I'm just curious. How many of you use "target Closest Enemy" with a hot key?
I was asked the other day how I could put a hold on people so quickly on my Ill/FF.
They would dive in from SJ into melee range on my ILL/FF(that bubble is a big target) and as soon as I see them I'd hit Q(target Closest enemy) and hit 1(Single target Hold) and it'd hit people before they'd hit the ground.
One person even thought I had some sort of a cheat, becuase they couldn't get away from me.
Well, my ILL/FF had(HAD) 6 Acc/Mez in Blind. So they would jump in, and hit the ground next to me, fire off their best attack, and find they were held right there.
So, again, who uses target closest enemy? -
Just wait till 50 and you get the equivilent of Hami O's. I used to play with 5 Dam/Range in Focus with Focus'd Accuracy running. You could hit from a LOOOOOOOONNNNGGG ways away. Some blasters were jelous.

One thing that some people don't seem to think of or see.
I worry about how many people PAY for each month. I don't care if they actually PLAY the game. As long as they PAY for it.
my reasoning? If all the other servers but mine never logged in, but they all payed for that month, it'd be nothing but a Win/Win situation for me.
For one, Cryptic would make more money, as their IT costs would go down. They could tailor the market mor to my servers likeing, I wouldn't have to pick my server from the list of servers, and we'd get to know Jack and the Devs on a more personal basis.
So all of you NOT on my server, pay for the next 12 months, then go play WoW or DDO or something. As long as you've paid CoH/CoV in advance.
Hell, I could do without half my server as long as I had my SG, and another good SG to whoop on in Freaksburg.
*(The above was posted in a jokeing manner, as this thread is comeing close to deletion from the heat that is starting to be generated. Smile folks, and imagine what our friends on Dial up feel like right now. We're complaining about stuff in I6/CoV and I'm SURE some STILL haven't finished downloading I6. Be Happy!) -

I DO find it Interesting that Statesman always refers to MMORPGchart.com's numbers, but never the actual numbers posted by NCSoft itself where you CAN see subscrber actual hard subscription and usage number (just look at the MX-Excel spreadsheet they have - on opening it, while the tabs are in Korean; the info is tabulated and in English). My point is: The numbers ARE EASILY available to Jack and Co; yet he likes to refer to Sir Bruce's numbers, which even Sir Bruce himself admits are often speculation on his part because many games DO NOT publically publish numbers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where do you think SirBruce gets his numbers?
Yeesh.
What's great is that people have been saying we're ddddoooommmeeedd since launch, and yet surprisingly, here we are.
[/ QUOTE ]
I also think it's easier for the Dev team to just type in MMORPGchart.com in any computer they're at, instead of remembering where that PDF document is. Plus, they can check on how the competition is doing -
One thing that a lot of people aren't takeing into account, is because everyone started at 0, a LOT of people are playing with their CoH SG's.
I know my SG, the NIGHT it went live on the Pre Order, we had 2 8 person teams going at once. They leveled to the teens by dawn.
Even now, when I log on, I see usually 2 teams from my SG going, so theres a good chance I can get on one of them.
I know most of my SG's members are playing CoV, with occational jumps back to CoH to kick [censored] in Warburg.
It could just be that all the people that ARE on, are on teams with their SG.
I know that I'm either soloing(by Choice I'm a soloer 70% of the time) or with my SG.
But PUG's? I don't do them anymore. I swore them off. -
Rule of thumb for me from beta.
Put 2 ACC in your attacks, and LEAVE IT like that till the teens. Then put a End Redux in there. Slot your sheilds HEAVILY from the start. One ALL your sheilds are at what ever slotting you eventually want, THEN slot your damage in your attacks.
Brutes do enough damage with Fury.
Thing to do is use your quick chargeing attacks FIRST, then when your fury is up, THEN use your heavy hitting attacks.. -
I had a long winded reply that some may have read.
Basically, I don't see how limiting to 17 is a logical thing.
I would expect the devs to have taken the number that was more rounded and arbitrary. 25 for example.
A team of 8 x 3<this is from the 3:1 thing) would = 24.
So a normal team of 8 should be fighting 24 mobs at a time.
For me, I LOVED getting on my Stone/STone, herding half a level while solo, and useing Mudpots as my main damage power. This was slow, but I allowed me to slowly work through the mobs with my single target attack. There are a lot of us tanks out there who don't PL. We may herd, but, without a power that can kill them REALLY fast, it's damned slow. But some of us LIKE the challenge of makeing a toon that can survive it. It makes me feel like a SUPER hero, and not just a vigilante. -
Austin/Toronto? So you live in Toronto, but telecomute to Austin?
