  1. Because it is not World of Warcraft.

I can make my character look like whatever I want without having to spend an inordinate amount of time doing so. I don't have to worry about gear upgrades making my character look like they shop at a gypsy yard sale.

I don't have to raid every day for weeks when a patch comes out to stay in the elite 1% of the game that the raid is designed for. I don't have to continue to raid because one specific piece of gear won't drop for me, or it did drop, but the stupid warlock rolled higher then me for it.

There is no damn gearscore. I can get into a Trial without having everyone judge me based on some mathematical addon.

If the oh so menacing 'tank mage' were so over the top, people would be swarming the mentioned builds. They are not.

A ranged/armor or assault/armor AT would not be over the top. It would just have to be balanced correctly, and the fact that examples already exist means it can be done.
Yeah, but the point is, they'd have to make an entirely new AT for it, which takes a while, and depending on what they already have in the project development pipeline, means that even if it's asked for now, it could be six months to a year before we see it.

They just can't shove it in one of the existing ATs.

Although, I wouldn't mind seeing them add a Praetorian Epic AT....
  3. Oh yeah, waiting on shard drops? That's pointless, ridiculous and time consuming. Get in an BAF or Lambda where the person running it isn't a pain in the butt, and you can have your Alpha slot filled so quickly it isn't even funny. You're not at -4 on those, anyway. I haven't even run Keyes yet, and just off of running BAF and Lambda a few times (and extra threads/Astral merits from parts of the SSA), and I already have a Tier 3 Alpha, and Judgement and Interface are unlocked.

Okay, sure. But you got to think that even Recluse is thinking "Wait, he did what?" and have something to say to him about it.
  5. Honestly, I could see requiring +1, from the Alpha Slot, for the newest Trials, but just until people learn them. Anything beyond that is a bit silly.
  6. Okay, all of Wade's "powers" are artifacts. So? Like he's the only character that uses artifacts? And what about the characters with the Natural background?

Frankly, considering that AFAIK, Malaise's talents as an artist have never been referred to before (side note: No, I haven't run every mission/Task Force ever, so if it was mentioned in the past, I have missed it. But from what I recall, Malaise's background mentions him committing crimes in Europe. Nothing about being an artist.), it's a little weird to see the man with MENTAL POWERS ranting about how it must suck for normal people.

I'm not saying it's not a good arc. It is. I just don't buy what Malaise is selling. And I still don't buy Darrin Wade as the big bad of the arc. Unless (and this is a big maybe), this will end with Rularuu getting back to Primal Earth. And revealed to be the Dream Doctor. Who is really *DUN DUN DUN* Wade's father.

Yes, that last sentence is not to be taken seriously.

The thing is, he's not normal now, considering part 2's fight in the Midnight Squad base where he's using powers. (Or am I horribly mistaken?)

That's one of the many reasons why I just don't buy him as the big bad behind this whole thing.
  8. I'm planning on going Degenerative on my Rad/Rad defender.

I haven't run any of the villainside parts at all.

Now, is it possible that the person who was revealed as being behind it all is really behind it all (and isn't being run/managed by someone else)?

    Sure.

I just have a hard time believing it. I mean, given the power level of the Freedom Phalanx, given the enemies they've already fought and defeated, I was expecting someone... more powerful. Yes, I admit it... I was half-expecting it to be a Nemesis plot.

Given who it is, though? I gotta say, I'm expecting more to it then what we've seen. I mean, now that, hero-side, we know who it is, if we don't go and hand them their own head (heroically, of course), in the next part, I have to wonder why not?
  10. I just ran the heroside version (I have, what, two villain characters, neither over 20th level?), and I have to say... What?

Without revealing any spoilers, let's just say that I do not believe, for a second, who is supposed to be behind this all.

That's overly harsh, actually. Calvin Scott is also a prominent black character. I just worry about the overly stereotypical speech patterns of Cleopatra and Nadia.

Also, it's tough to make an ethnically-African face without ending up with ET eyes.
Yeah, but Calvin Scott isn't one of the Surviving Eight. Out of those, Back Alley Brawler is the only black character.

It doesn't make sense for it to be Citadel, because really, he should have a backup somewhere, unless Paragon Studios plans on going with the whole "He doesn't have the emotional connection" thing like Marvel did with the Vision when they took him apart.

There are only two women in the Surviving Eight, and one of them is already dead (and still around), so unless they want to deal with "Women in Refrigerators" syndrome, Numina and Sister Psyche are probably safe too.

So that leaves Statesman, Positron, Synapse and Manticore. My bet is that it will be Statesman. He's already going to be in an incredibly bad mood because of what happens in part 3 of "Who Will Die", and that's going to lead him making dumb, half-cocked decisions. Plus, out of all of the Surviving Eight, he's got the most enemies AND if it is someone we haven't seen before (no, I haven't played the villain side arcs, as I barely have any villain characters), well, you go after the biggest guy on the block to make a name for yourself.

All that being said, I could likewise see it being Synapse simply for thinking "Naah, there's no way that they could hit me. I move too fast." *BLAM* *DED*
  12. Hrm... you know, with the "good" Oranbegans, and the recently available CoT costume set... there's some ideas there.

You aren't kidding. I served on a jury years ago, and it was bad then. Luckily, there was good forensic evidence.

I also experienced this a while ago. There's no need to worry, the game will show the correct value again once you have logged into that chara.

There you go, injecting logic and sensibility into the whole thing.

Most every non-comic Marvel product (Complete Guide to the Marvel Universe, Marvel Superheroes RPG, etc.) has described them as force blasts, though.

I'm not saying it's impossible that they're Cytorrakian energy, but just because they're crimson beams, doesn't mean that they have to be from Cytorrak. Also, you'd think since the X-Men have worked with Doctor Strange more then a few times, he might have mentioned it.
  20. I know I'd love it if the high collar capes wouldn't clip into the back (through the body) when you activated many powers.
  21. I'm still trying to figure out Malaise's part in this whole thing. Okay, fine, he's crazy. He's got mental powers. He's gone through the face-heel revolving door often enough that no one's sure what side he's on.

But, from the cinematics we've seen in the first three parts.... he's obviously working for someone else. Who?

Side note: Are we even sure that this is Primal Malaise? Is there some reason it couldn't be Praetorian Malaise and he's just screwing with everyone even more than it seems?

I can't find it now (of course), but yeah, the purple versions of the ATIOs are stronger/more powerful.
  23. Well, I haven't become my own grandpa, so I think I'm safe on that line of inquiry.

  25. So, here's the thing. I play mostly on the Virtue server, but I was trying to find a character I made on another server some time ago. I could not remember which server, however, so I'm going through them one at a time when I see this:

Now... that's almost 12 years ago. And the game's only been out since 2004.

The only conclusion that I can draw is THAT I CAN CONTROL TIME.

    Or a buffer overflow. :P
