Quote:Does it count if the furry in question is angsty for reasons entirely unrelated to being a furry?1. The Angsty type furry who is sick of being hated because hes furry.
2. The Yiff All Day And Night class of furry.
I'll concede that I've never found a furry community that's 'asexual', but that's a bit unfair of a requirement. In any community, there will be some fetishists attracted to it purely for fetish reasons. And trust me, I've seen them. I swear, I've met people who have car fetishes, which lead to them taking autoshop classes.
And also, fetishes aren't in and of themselves bad things. Many can be completely tame. Some people really like redheads, for no readily apparent reason. They just find redheads more attractive than other hair colors, for whatever reason. Nothing wrong with it, but it's still a fetish.
In my life I have met many people who have identified as furries that have been entirely normal people. They may have other fetishes or quirks, but no more than any other person I've met. I have also met many furries who were oversexed psychopaths who I cut off all contact with for that reason, but I've also met non-furries who were just as bad when it came to sex and seeking it out.
Really, the reason 'most' furries seem to come off as yiff-crazy seems to be because most people realize they're furries while teenagers. And as we all know, the vast, vast majority of teenagers have trouble keeping their pants on, in one form or another. Of course, there is a vocal minority issue, too. All it takes is one or two really vocal psychopaths to turn the general view into 'everyone in this group is insane.'
When it comes down to it, a furry is no more likely to be a sex maniac than any other person. Plain and simple. It's a lot like how people assume a pretty blond will be dumb. It's a stereotype. A stereotype based on the actions of real people, yes, but not the measure by which an entire class of humans should be measured.
And I'm aware that this has turned into a 'be nice to furries, waaah!' type of rant. Suffice to say that, if someone's had a bad experience, I won't hold it against them for being cautious about similar situations in the future. But I will hold it against them if they assume everyone in that related group is that way. There is, after all, a difference between 'cautious, but give them a chance to show how they are as an individual' and 'paranoid or full of hate without learning about them.'
Just to prove I'm not trying to climb on a high horse here: I still cringe when I bump into a dragon scaly, because of one nut case I knew once. It's a reflex that makes me start watching them like a hawk. It's not fair to them, I know, I'm working on it. But I don't treat them like I would that one person I knew. I'm just a little more guarded than normal when I talk to them. -
Quote:That's really about the same thing Kiana would do. Except replace allegiance with 'make smart *** remarks, hoping you'll open the door to have some minions rough me up in classic stupid villain style.'Nalrok would wait for you to stop by, then chat with you about why he's imprisoned and if he could form an allegiance with you.
If that didn't work, he'd smash out one of the walls, get blown to a black paste, then reform slowly and make his way out.
At which point she'll just turn on the Super Speed and Super Leaping, dashing out the cell and off into your lair to look for an exit. Probably triggering just about every trap she comes across, either being incapacitated (and forced to go with the 'explosion + regeneration escape' plan) or some how making it out because she's read the evil overlord list and you clearly haven't. =P -
Quote:As far as I can tell, there aren't many more furries. Just more variety to them.EDIT: While the client is downloading, can someone tell me how much the Furry population has exploded since the Animal Pack came out? I have some napalm I need to use up for a tax write-off.
Really, why do I keep hearing so much furry bashing? Most of the ones I've met in CoH have been pretty nice, level headed people. Not that crazy furries don't exist, they're just a minority. A very small minority. That's so very, very vocal... -
Hope you enjoy the rest of your time here. If you do wind up leaving, I hope it's on a good note.

Quote:I took Stamina on every character I ever made. Even my Regen. That's how much I loved it.In all seriousness, I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't want Stamina. :\ Especially those who are toggle-heavy.
The swap to Inherent Fitness came as a bit of a shock. "Oh god, I just realized I have three free power choices! I can actually get a travel power!"
And lo, did I squee like a hundred fangirls at that moment. -

Hm, this sounds interesting. Unfortunately, my availability is erratic (hypersomnia and trying a new medication for it), so I can't really do anything major, but I could do supporting roles. Possibly. You can contact me at @Broken Key in game.
Some of my character's that might be interested:
Blue Side:
Kiana Wolf (50+1, Mutant Scrapper) Usually off fighting Rikti in the warzone, but since they don't seem to be such a challenge anymore she's keeping her eyes and ears open for potential threats. 'Mercenary for the side of good' being her motto, she's always out to do the right thing. But will prefer doing the 'right thing' that pays well, when possible.
Sydney Wolf (24, Mutant Scrapper) Kiana's daughter, a young girl who wants to be a hero. She's only supposed to face minor threats (low level gang activity, for example), but often gets into tough situations because she's a terrible judge of what's minor. Has a powerful mutant ability, but is woefully inexperienced. Would make a good side kick.
Sylphaen (21, Magic Scrapper) A parallel dimension version of Kiana, who wound up on Primal Earth through unknown means. She's looking for a way back, so she's studying dimensional travel. (Rikti portals, Portal Corp. et cetera.) If any plot point involves warping realities or moving between dimensions she'll be on it like white on rice.
Red Side:
Keysmith (15, Magic Stalker) Someone who allied with a very Lovecraftian horror in exchange for power. Can open portals and teleport around, as well as bending normal space around her. Her master wants to use her powers to tear a rift into this reality so he can chow down on it. She doesn't want to, since this is where she keeps all her stuff. Walks a veeery delicate balance between using her powers enough to get by, but not so much to cause irreparable damage.
Seeing as how she's essentially a magical locksmith that gained teleportation, her catch phrase is roughly 'If I can't get you there, it doesn't exist.' If you need to break into anything, she's there to dig through your wallet. =P Might make a good hired minion for the villain or a begrudged ally/plot device for the good guys.
I've got other characters, but those are the ones I roleplay the most. -
Man, ever since the animal pack came out, the game has just been full of bull...
...Oh, wait, that's not the kind of puns you're after. -
Quote:I don't know why, but I'm imagining something like four different damage types, by type of power (like how Alpha has Cardiac, etc.) and the higher tiers offering you more enhancement slots on the power. That's assuming it can't be freely swapped out.well, judgement is an AoE attack. I could see them limiting swaps to respecs, or to another action as extreme as a respec.
If it can be swapped out, same as Alpha, then it probably won't be slot-able and just be yet another temporary power to add to my collection... I mean, can you imagine how many things could go wrong, programming a swappable power with slots? -

Considering I missed the first half of the LGTF week because of various projects and I missed the second half due to technical difficulties... Difficulties I'm still having... No, I am not burnt out. In fact, I'm positively wooden, waiting to burn. -_-

Quote:I rarely slot for damage. With basic IOs and standard origin enhancements, I prefer accuracy, endurance reduction and recharge. I only slot for damage if I've got a spare slot and the power doesn't have an additional effect. Like Punch for Super Strength. No disorient or anything, so I'll toss on one damage enhancement.Only on powers that aren't already near the ED cap. Which on my level 50 alts is usually a power where damage is not its strong attribute.
Most of mine have gone Cardiac. i'm almost never near the ED cap on end reduction. What with slotting the powers for damage, mez, or buffs instead...
With IO sets, though, I usually have a couple damage sets (with a tendency to do a full six enhancements for each set) on a few powers. 'Course, since any character I plan to put sets on, those damage IO sets have a roleplaying backing... Mako's Bite, for the lethal damage, on a couple of my characters with claws... (MA scrapper, SS brute...)
I've been thinking about making a Spirit alpha power, if I ever get enough spare Notices. I'm told the healing buff really matches up well with Regen. (Though nearly all of my healing powers are maxed out against ED.) Plus, faster recharge. That's a perk for surviving those tougher bosses. Self healing, gotta love it! -
Quote:Well, on my main (my only 50), I went with the Cardiac. Now, she's a Regen. Who also has Physical Perfection. She could fight all week and never get tired. When I slotted a third tier Cardiac, I had to upgrade her catch phrase: "I can go all month!"I'm ready to rock as soon as I get another Notice of the Well on Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.
Seriously. Her endurance never falls below 90% naturally. With enemies actively sapping her endurance? It rarely, if ever, drops below 50%. Malta? Pushovers. -
Quote:That... is a hilarious idea. XDI once had a dog themed character ran around barking and growling like Lassie or Rin Tin Tin... best part he was a tank so he got to run on ahead of everyone in a mission just like your own loveable mutt one you unleash him...
I also love the Rikti-speak. Was once on a team with a guy who 'Rikti-rolled' us. "Imperative: Never!" and stuff like that. I wouldn't help but laugh. -
Quote:Well, the bonuses from 4th tier are nothing to scoff at. 33~45% bonuses, with 2/3 of the bonus unaffected by ED. Plus, y'know, some bragging rights. For awhile I thought that we were going to get lvl 50 (+2) from the 4th tier. Since it said "this applies a level shift" or something to that effect. I don't think I would have tried so hard to get both sides of the tree done if I'd realized that we top out at 50 +1 right now.
-
Given how my main is a regen and I have the running gag of getting my legs blown off ("Just gimme a sec to pull myself back together!"), I'd probably be the weakest boss ever. But I'd make the Freakshow's self-rezzing seem tame by comparison. XP
I dunno. Maybe a 'hold 'em off while you get a power nullifier operational!' thing?
Punch, I go down. I get back up. Punch, I go down. I get back up. Punch... -
Quote:It might have something to do with most of the Atlas teams standing around being ********* after the first invasion, instead of the usual 'run around to each one as soon as the alert goes out.'Wow, seriously?
I've never had trouble finding a team in Talos. Then again, that was last week... maybe things have changed with all the invasions?
So either they all got bored of it at the same time or they all decided bickering was a better use of their time than bashing in alien heads. -
Quote:Ironically, I had a heck of a time getting a team in Talos. Atlas, easy. Galaxy, eh, okay. Steel Canyon, passable. Talos? Bloody friggin' empty.I'd suggest trying the more populated areas. The easiest places to find a team tend to be: Atlas Park, Talos Island and Steel Canyon. The first two being more popular than the others.
'Course, I was on my level 20-ish alt. No one seems to want to join a team I lead, but everyone seems more than happy to invite me.
But seriously, we easily got an eight man team going in every area except Talos. I ran around Talos solo looking for bombs, until the real invasion started. There were about four of us fighting the Rikti. =| -
Quote:Yeah. You have to be proactive about it, but it's rude to just walk up to two people already roleplaying. They might have something planned going on.So generally the best way to get into any sort of Role-playing is to simply jump in, but not interrupting an on going RP?
Other than the smell, this is the greatest team ever! -
Hey, ETAs aren't exact. That's why the E stands for estimated, after all. Your fault for trying to beat the clock. =|
No, I'm really am sorry to hear you're disappointed. But that's life. It's not like you can't run the TF again. -

Quote:Metal isn't the fifth in the fire-water-air-earth combination. (It varies, but is most commonly called aether.)OMG :'D my name's there! SQUEEEK.
uhm, for elementals...are we limited to those? are we allowed to use the 5th element of metal?
There is the wu xing, though. Chinese, I think. Fire, earth, water, metal and wood. -
