  1. Decided I want one, never played Psy blasting before.

For PvP, my question is do I want to pick up Will dom? what about Psychic Wail?
If i skip those two I can fit in tactics in my build but I'm not sure its worth it.

Also, pre-i13 I just skipped Total Focus because it takes too long to cast, and its a melee attack. Should I skip it now? I was planning on getting Bone Smasher, but should I plan on skipping it?

So much has changed that I feel like I know nothing about pvp now :X

this is gonna get to be a lot of fun.
I hope a TON of people transfer. Downies or not. Should grant me some fun.

Dunno. There are three schools of thought out there:

    1. Server X is my home, I ain't leavin'! (Which I certainly respect.)
    2. OMG, server X is dead, get me to server Y NAO! (Which I certainly understand.)
    3. Grrr, Server X is dead, I want to transfer to Y, but my mom won't gimme her CC to transfer my 20 toons! (Which makes me snicker a little.)

I think 1 and 2 are the major camps out there; and as such, camp 2 (which would have wanted to transfer) probably did so already over the last year or so. In terms of raw benefit for this holiday transfer gift, I think it'll be group 3 who'll take the most advantage of it, at least for transferring a few toons to test the waters.

I'll probably exercise the transfer and move Dr. Turg around for the holidays to say hi to everyone.
I think there's a fourth group that I fall into. Personally I played on Virtue for almost the entire time I played. Virtue zone pvp was dying, virtue population was dying so I moved to the freedom server and transferred nobody. I started fresh.

Now this allows me to transfer some old characters back to Freedom so I can enjoy them again (or milk them of all the inf I've poured into them!)

EDIT: I have my own CC :P, was just too cheap to blow 60 extra dollars to transfer a few characters
  4. Hopefully many people use them to come to Freedom!

I know I transferred a few old characters from my old server using this due to the higher population, and pvp. Do you think a lot of people will come?

Make it like this anywhere pvp zone or not so anyone could go into a what is called now a pvp zone and not have to pvp. This would effectively remove all pvp zones and no longer force anyone into anything they just do not enjoy.

Since such a small population of the game actually pvps there wouldn't be to many fights break out in places disrupting people and it might actually be neat to see a super powered battle here and there on your travels. This isn't an orignal idea but I feel like it deserves it own thread and maybe it could be something added to going rogue or sometime after since the devs specifically said they aren't done with reworking pvp yet. Any thoughts.
I gotta be honest, this wont fly. The reason being the Devs wanted to keep pvp completely separate from PvE, so the PvE'ers don't have to get involved if they don't want to.

  9. I lol'd at tequila and its moderate damage over the light damage of the other drinks

    That's a much better alternative. I agree.

Edit: This is why I come to the suggestions forum where people think outside the box. I'm so uncreative hah.
  11. I have a simple suggestion for this, and that is this: When you unlock a particular weapon for use in costume parts, make it account wide. It'd be nice to be able to start a character with a rikti sword :P

Any opinions/reasons why this is a bad idea? Maybe there's something I'm missing.

    Keep or Re-Roll?

I know I stole that other guys title.. sorry hah.

I have a Psy/Ice blaster I made (just to be different) to try and see if it would be a good combo due to the -recharge and the slow/-recharge from Shiver and other ice powers. The idea would have been to take Snow Storm (or whatever that's called).

    Good idea? Bad Idea?

I'd overall like to make a Psy blaster for pvp but if possible I prefer non-cookie cutter builds.

  14. So much for the "Thanks for not flaming" If you had read my last post i essentially have agreed that selling it as a microtransaction isn't the best idea.

Why do people get so offended when a suggestion doesn't go to their taste?

Yes, this is personally verified. And IMHO loosens up zone builds a bit. Arena is a different kettle of fish entirely.
Didn't know this, and it changes a lot.

I suppose with the amount of counter-evidence given, it makes more sense to me. I still don't think that it was the best choice to give out this vet reward at 60, but I don't think its nearly as gamebreaking as I used to.

Additionally, if there were to be a solution, micro-transactions probably isn't the best one. My only other suggestions are maybe (what someone else suggested) veteran reward tokens, or even allow this as a merit reward.

For everyone that participated in the discussion, thanks for not flaming
  16. Sure, the pve benefits are substantial as well but the reason I said I'm argueing in the case of PvP benefits is because... well.. in PvE if you benefit from something that nobody else does, it really doesn't affect anyone else.

Meaning if you have an advantage over anyone else in PvE it doesn't harm the other players, or make them any less viable. In fact, if anything, having someone with this on your team is better because that may mean they are better in pve.

You mentioned the APP hold or another power. As a stalker, Im thinking of a reason why you wouldn't want hasten. Your phase is down longer, which means less time actually PvPing - Unless you are really big at base camping until phase is up. But Fishy/epic snip is longer recharge.

The only reasons I can think of for Not wanting hasten would be extra set bonuses. But even then, your set bonuses should be geared toward +HP +Rech + Dam in that order. Im still not seeing it.

It is completely possible that we have two completely different methods for building characters and we prioritize things differently. Im NOT saying your way is wrong or bad in any way, I just wouldn't do it the way that you are there in that example.

Most of my builds come from hours of trial and error on what DOESN'T work well together. And I can't even fathom why a stalker would not want hasten.
I understand what you mean but also consider my edit (idk if that's still there) but the fact that in the 2nd build you would have to switch placate for a defensive power in sirens in order to keep placate (obviously necessary). The idea is that someone with the 60-month vet reward could keep both placate and the extra defense/heal/whatever from the secondary.. while the other person is stuck with hasten which they may not want in sirens or at all.

Yes, hasten can always be useful but keep in mind its not always necessary. Yea, there's always a use for it but that doesn't mean you can't live without it... which is what I'm trying to get across.

Maybe I'm slightly overreacting but I feel like having the extra survivability from one of your toggles in sirens is significant enough to warrant a change.
  18. Maybe I'm going the wrong direction with this. I would like it to be available (if earned) to those that aren't around for as long. But many of you have made the valid point that making people pay for it is equally as gamebreaking.

Perhaps getting it through the merit system? I'm rather new to the merit system because the last time I played was before i13 came out... But if it was at the cost of a large amount of merits, does that seem more fair?

P.S. don't snap at me for this comment since I said I'm trying to make it fair for the new comers, because what I meant by it is that IOs, Experience, etc. can all be earned, whereas for the veteran reward system it can be earned but in a manner that takes far more time than anything else for what its worth. Nobody is going to subscribe for the next 5 years, jsut to get that veteran reward, they'd probably quit before that happened.

This does sound like a better solution.
  20. Example: EM/WP Stalker. I know I know people hate stalkers but its the easiest and quickest example I could come up with. On a WP, you don't need hasten because you dont have Dull Pain. So in the first build you have room for 1 extra power, be it the hold from the APP, or some other choice where you would have to sell yourself short.

In the second build please ignore that I didnt pick up placate til later, since.. i didnt notice. Point is its still in the build lol, and that the extra power does make a difference.

Not the greatest example, but you can use your imagination and make a better one if you'd like lol. I don't have much time.

P.S. if you switch placate with a defense in sirens like i should have in the 2nd build, you're much more squishy in sirens, which is a difference to consider.

  21. I'll try to come up with something within the next day or two, but long story short I have an exam in 4 hours that I should be studying for... and to come up with a great example would take 30-60 mins I'm sure.

But no, the reason isn't solely because of phase shift. I just used that as an example.

If that old vocal crowd could deal with a problem like this, Im sure you can too.
I really dislike it when people give me the "deal with it" argument, as it really isn't an argument. In PvP 1.0 you can make rules like that.. for the arena. In PvP in zones, regardless of if its i12, or i13, you can't make the rules.

    1. IOs, experience, influence are all achieveable by the amount of time you spent getting it rather than the amount of time you've been a member of City of Heroes.

Here's the take from a once hard core PvPer:

Reasons why this Vet power sucks - there is only one reason:
    1. It adds an added benefit to a person based solely on the point that they have paid for the game longer. Two people of equally skilled playing ability can't have a match to determine who is better because one person would have an added advantage* (See below point before you QR)

Reasons why this isn't really a big deal:
    1. (Captain obvoius) This vet reward only effects four powers; SS, SJ, Fly, TP
Lets look at all of these:
    Speed
    Hasten/Flurry
    Super Speed
    WW
    Leaping
    Jumpkick
    Combat Jump
    Super Jump
    Acro
    fly
    Air Sup.
    Hover
    Fly
    Group Fly
    Teleport
    TP Foe
    TP Friend
    TP
    Group TP

Of these four powers, there is only one power in the level 6 range you wouldn't want for PvP - and that's A.S. or Hover from the flight pool. But you also wouldn't want the level 14 power for PvP either. Fly has always been the worst travel power for PvP because of its slow speed and even the buff to -fly protection doesn't even help make it more attractive. You could also argue that you just want TP as an escape power for PvP and skip TP foe, but with travel supression this is pretty much a pointless power as well.

In Conclusion, this is really a non issue. Im totally against vet rewards that are game changing -And you are free to disagree with me that this is not game changing, but I think it is - But this isn't THAT big of a deal.

In the old PvP, I probably spent more hours thinking about builds for PvP than most people. I can't really think of a build that would benefit from having one extra pool power. Think about it: You're gonna take SS for hasten and horizontal movement, You're gonna take SJ for Vertical movement and Knockback Protection and your going to take fitness for End recovery and Numina sets. That leaves one extra pool power. Most are going to choose concealment for Phase, but you might choose Leadership for Acc/Dam, you might choose fighting for resistance/def...Hell, I would even choose the medicine pool for Stimulate before I picked Fly/TP for PvP.
What you're saying makes sense, except that just because one power (IE hasten or CJ) is good for pvp doesn't mean that someone would prefer to take that over something else. For instance, what if you're one power short from getting phase shift in your build? I'd rather keep superspeed and cut hasten, than the other way around.

Yes, hasten is bomb-diggity. But for some builds it can be unneccessary.
