  1. as a european player (actually not quiet european but that is where game put me in and cost me that way) I would pay 20 euro if it was to keep game up. I think I was rougly paying 100 dollar equivalent with market purchase monthly already.

However I would better spend that money as a support to one of buyers since after this I can't trust NCSoft to keep game up for another 3 month after getting our money (in other words another quarter)

I've since played EA Games. And enjoyed them. So I know some may in time not be so adverse to seeing what another NCsoft Studio - which is what Paragon Studios were - are making.

I'll miss my CoH home. I hope you all find your new MMO Homes too.
Well time will show but I am known for my stubborness and in your case it was something entirely different. First EA has many mny games other than MMO's I got angry at them for C&C 4 too but it was pretty obvious what would that game become. Second in your case it was a result of a mergerI don't know specifics but I can guess conditions were totally different that what NCSoft is doing in here.

Still I understand you if I was involved with a Wildstar community too I wouldn't leave at least after game was released and see if it really worths or not (I did that with SWTOR eventhough I knew EA and Bioware was rushing game)

Same here. I even showed Wildstars introduction video and a few of in-game videos along with a testers blog notes to a lot of people. Now not just stomach I don't even have a nail left on me to look at it. Sorry Master Zaprobo if conditions were different I would gladly join your community and I respect your decision but there is just not even a stone left in me to give to NCSoft yet alone money and be advised if same thing with GW2 happens with Wildstar they will immediatly shutdown it not another one of their products.

On OP's question: I have lifetime with Champions and Secret World probably will on Secret World though I don't like CO that much but not regreting my lifetime either at the very least I can jump back in and check some things than return to CoH well I could. First I lost SWG to stupid NGE upgrade (which I think blame was on WoW since they tried to make game closer to it) now I lost my second I lost SWTOR to bad company management (Both EU and bioware have blames on that one) and now I lost my all-time second best (after old SWG) CoX to bad company management (I guess I have that kind of luck with companies)

  5. I am on vacation at the moment and internet in here is....... like NCSoft. But I will try to come to meeting if nothing else to see those who will attend.

Wşth DA arcs there is a new type of missions called Personal missions. Tyrant's is an exception but all others involve non-combat story related missions. Tyrant's on the other hand was designed as a carnage mission but due to a bug (please note that I didn't encounter bug lately but most people still do) it is mostly unplayable. You can get Tytrant's persona mission from bella at the end of her arc or from flashback system at Ouro. Also a small note BAF is before Lam but it is minor point.

Nope it does not need 12 PPM. 12 PPM is where GC would have %90 proccing chance. What I am talking about something different. I had some calculations done before but I am on a vacation now still iirc from my calculations PPM 5 or greater are working better on GC with a build that has enough recharge on powers and global recharge to get top attack chain.

That is only statistically however not like old %chance of every hit and like i said in this case it is about where GC is in attack chain and how many times it is used. It is before any big hitter so even if procs less than SD or GD its proc won't be wasted on a weak attack. If you have for example a -res proc in SD however its bonus will be wasted on GC and becuase of long arcanatime it may not carried on GD at all even if you had more chance of proccing(this is ofcourse after a full set of chain done since achielles proc has a duration of 10.25 second but not sure about +critical chance one). Also these procs having a smaller cance to proc is not that bad thing since their effect does not stack with their own

This may not be true for any other combination or any other power that is like GC but for this combination not requiring DA in attack chain to get extra defense and getting top attack chain more frequently used with less clicky going on GC is still a good palce to put certain procs (- res, +crit chance)

SW: 1.188 arcanatime at 79.83 base damage -> 67 dps

Also GC has a base recharge of 3s while SW's is 5s which is very important when looking at your optimal attack chain. SW>SD>SW>GD will never be possible while GC>SD>GC>GD is. The recharge also used to favor GC because of the -res proc rate but with i24 that will not be true anymore.
Technically speaking it will be still useful in GC. Why? Because in GC a PPM proc will closer to its PPM value while in a power with long recharge it may come short because of %90 cap and/or because of PPM may be too high to be useful in said power (for example a PPM 3 in a power that recharges in every 30 second will have less proccing happen than a power with recharge of 10 second in a minute). And GC is before two top-tier damage attacks in top attack chain which means -res (and second ATO's +crit chance) will be beneficial to top damaging attacks if procs are in GC.

To answer the question about practiced brawler, at least so far I haven't really needed it. I carry a few mez breaking inspirations on me and that seems to do the trick. Of the factions I've fought so far Rikti seem to be the most mez heavy (mentalists) and inspirations have worked well. Will this not be the case later on? If I really do need practiced brawler I'll probably drop spring attack since it's more a fun gimmick power than anything else.

As for gambler's cut vs. sting of the wasp, why is gambler's cut better when it has lower base damage? I really don't need the -def with all of the accuracy I have. Is there some nuance to the slotting options that I'm missing here?

Lastly, my thought on aid self is that it would be handy to have for the times when a big strike manages to get through my defense. With such a low chance to be hit I figured that interrupt wouldn't be a huge issue. Truth be told, If I had it right now it would hardly ever get used. I figured a self heal would be become more useful once I'm fighting some nastier stuff that has more than a 5% chance to hit me. If aid self is truly pretty worthless even at higher levels though I'm more than happy to drop it for something else.
I can't really remember whole math thing since it was years ago. But long story short GC's potential DPS is higher than stings and with -def you can slot achielles heel -res proc in it. Like I mention top attack chain is GC-GD-GC-SD. You can use this attack chain less than 10 second and it has GC twice in it so in less than second you will be checking for proc twice.

Also I am not saying aid self is useless it is just my personal opinion I usually get leadership pool for extra accuracy and damage (and before boosters for more defense)

If you like to keep spring attack than keep it you can replace some other power with practice brawl but getting it will be save you from some nasty scnerios. Break free only lasts for a minute or so and if you don't have a second one when you met with heavy mezzer groups you will be in trouble also keeping a break free in your tray means you can't keep another green, orange, red or yellow for more real survival or DPS increase. There is an auto-click option in CoH if you are not aware of just ctrl+left click on power and it will click automatically whenever it is ready. Use it on practice brawler and you will never need to check for break frees again. I realise how much annoying it is constantly getting knocked back after I added PB into build. At one time I had a power shortage and removed PB to get something else. It was frustrating constanly being knocked and trying to save break free for more nastier stuff like hold or immobs.

Now they could get very clear dialected people to play roles but that becomes monotone after a while (just like how it is in TOR after a couple of levels all NPC's sound same and you start to press spacebar only to get to choice than conitnue spamming spacebar because there is no auto-skip and keeping your finger on spacebar was not working.)

And why should a blind person should get a game which eats %70 or more of resources of their computer on something they can't use (graphics) Now is there was a voice over version of a MUD I could understand that.
  12. A couple of suggestions from myself.

First your top attack chain as a kat/SR (since you don't need divine avalanche) is gamblers cut - golden dragonfly - gamblers cut - soaring dragon. But you have sting of wasp instead (I guess it is becuase this is an old toon but GC is currently better than SoW) so change sting of wasp with gamblers cut and put an achielles heel -res proc on it (when second ATO's goes live exchange this with second ATO proc and probably put whole set into GC)

Second get pactice brawler I can think a few reason why you didn't had it way back than but it is too valuable to skip now.

I tried spring attack with my build but unless you are going to slot it with a purple set (which i dont recommend because your prime attack is golden dragonfly and purple PBAoE should be saved for it) or with obliteration or eradication (eradication is a good set to cover some defense but it is not needed in most cases especially if you are using boosters) than don't take it since it is not even a good opener while underslotted. I suggest getting energy torrent instead as an opening attack power and you can slot it with a different purple(ranged AoE).

I never had need for aid self but that is personal opinion most of the time you will not have enough time to use it before dying or simply you will not have a need for it. It can be covered with green insps and they don't have interrupt either.

With new changes on proc in i24 I suggest putting gaussian set into buildup for double buildup and tasty bonus of %2.5 def.

Consider slotting red fortune on some defense powers if possible 5 but 3 will work too part of reason is at 5 it gives %5 recharge speed. Other part with i24 changes it will be giving resist to 4 types with just 3 slotting (s/l/f/c)

Consider slotting shield wall +res on a defense power it will be giving %5 res with i24.

Consider slotting regenerative tissue proc on physical perfection and miracle into health. If you can spare double slot miracle and numina into health since it gives best value with that.

My aim with my own kat/SR was after survival (def and regen and a little bit res) i would focus on damage and recharge. Recharge was mostly covered thanks to purples ATO's and red fortunes and currently my beta build (i24) has %45 global damage bonus with amplifier it rises to %60 and my purpled attacks have %143 enhnacement damage bonus on themselves. If you would like I will post my build later.

In TOR (yup that game pretty much killed voice over for most people) game pauses for a few seconds before and after cutscenes start and in some cutscenes you can see your characters start moving slower Also in TOR most cutscenes are just potraits focusing on whoever is talking so it doesn't have a feel of cutscene at all just a normal get mission dialogue with voice but more than usually you can see your character or talking one getting slower and mouth completly stop moving sometimes even wrong character is on screen and it only slides back a few seconds later to talking one. Also TOR had some sort of metric that whenever you were getting closer an NPC in game they will randomly play a dialogue (much like when random people walking around suddenly talks about a players achievements) and if you entered in an NPC crowded area (like a cantena) game was slowing down becuase of sudden burst of sounds lucky it was only playing a certain amount of them at the same time so it wasn't a sudden chaos of sounds.

I agree that mostly people got allergic to voice over becuase of TOR. Like I said I would prefer Secret Worlds Voice Over. You can skip it, it feels more cinematic and it does not slow down gameplay in anyway (being played both TOR and TSW at highest settings I can tell you that there is a huge performance difference between both of them)

EDIT: Almost forgot one of most important reason why complete voice over in an MMO is bad. It is language barrier, now I am not mentioning people not knowing english it is totally different. Just you know enough english to play a game does't mean you have enough diction to talk or listen in said language and if you are going to read subtitle anyway what is the point of voice over? I think this is the biggest cons of voice over. But than again this is personal opinion.

    Quote:

There is a difference between reading and listening. You can read faster than you can listen so when a guy lets say giving same mission on text and on voice over voice over feels like going forever while you can read through text. And hearing same guy over and over again (for example assume Crimson giving his mission with voice over reading all that text aloud ) becomes dull after a certain time. In TOR it is worse because your character also talks for each of your choices (good part is most of times it is different than what is selected) or sometimes just as part of conversation after getting to level 25ish you got sick of talking and turn off voice entriely but cutscene still triggers and you need to skip them.

Because on an MMO you have many type of players and TOR's voice acting was forced on players. It is either you listen (or read subtitle while listening) or you listen the dialogues of mission giver even if you did that mission before. They added skip patch right after launch on day 1 because of constant complains.

Also unlike CoH most other MMO's have complex coordination required in their raids (or similiars) so most people uses VOIP to do raids and such and an extra talking in that totally offsets players timing. You can type or even set what you want to type on a bind on CoH easily and use that infact one of reasons I am still playing CoH is there is no need for mic and sound I can just turn off sounds of game totally and still can play the hardest trial.

Don't get me wrong I don't say it is bad that NPC having voices and cutscenes but there is other ways doing that. Like how it is in The Secret World IMO it is best option so far used I would prefer if my character talked in cutscenes but still it has far better feel than TOR's.

EDIT: Also what Ironik said but that is just my personal opinion that I prefer text over sound.

He didn't actually nuke the city it is just what people says about it after seeing destruction. He just called power of tartarus and a big boom happened. City was already evacuated or implied that way if you played some other missions (Cole's personal story and Sword of Emperor).

Have you considered going rogue to pick up the sniper attack maybe ?

I do think SR is your safest choice. I agree that it offers you defenses without the need of having mobs near you.

Quills doesn't seem so bad is the DPS that low ? Maybe 4 slot it with all procs ?

Would love to see how this works out
In I24 shield wall will be increasing to %5.

  18. Lord Nemesis TF and ITF for me. ITF for what op said nemesis because of its last mission.
  19. Also alpha slot works like enhancement in powers rather than global set bonuses so your recharge didn't change because it shows global bonus if you take a look at each of your powers you should see change in there.
  20. When it will go live my first bio will be spines/bio scrapper I like how he looks and powers seem to be working rather well together. I didn't tested too much to not spoil fun in live.
  21. Resistance is stable defensive parameter it always blocks same amount of damage and only a debuff can make it worse for resistance but than again resist debuff is resisted by resistance itself so higher resistance means less debuff as well.

On defense however it is more luck than statistics. As an SR scrapper I can say doing same mission with same parameters can have so much different result it is not even funny. On one run you could easily finish mission with just your attack chain and not using anything else (including hasten, end or heal mitiogations etc) on another run even though you used your inspirations you may end up dead on first boss.

-dam works like resistance therefore adding it as a second mitigation to defense than adding it on a resist character may seem work better. Especially for a character at resist cap -dam won't be as effective as its original values. However -dam works on all front so it is still good to cover that psi, toxic or whatever hole in your resist character has.

Actually -tohit is same as +def except it works for everyone that target attacks. Since it is actually a math like (tohit-defense)*acc that checks attack while for damage received it is dam-(dam*resist/100) so -dam and resist are two different mitigations but -tohit and defense are on same mitigation. Now if it was -acc it would be another story.

I checked my cc statements (thanks for e-statement otherwise I couldn't find them at all) I think before freedom tokens were granted for each badge of vet right so for each 3 month and one token for each year(I assume this because otherwise I should have around 144 token intead of 129) I can't remember how many token I had when freedom launch before buying points but it should be at least 20 (except tier 1 one and this makes sense because of some sort of setup for european and vet rewards I was seeing two months addition to my vet rewards than my paid time and I think it was close to 4 year or just got badge a week or so before it)

My calculation shows that I should have 125 token if it is how this worked. (I have bought 111120 pp which roughly equals 92.6 token, 16 token for being 4 year vet when freedom launched, 4 token for being annual, 1 token for first tier, 12 token for past year for freedom it all comes to 125.6 token) However I am pretty sure I had some extra tokens after I bought two 9600 at freedom launch and after getting tier 9 and celestial armor I had 3 or 4 token left.

If there is somewhere I can check what level of vets got how many tokens at freedoms launch than I can give a proper number still it seems I was wrong about my calculations and I apologise for misinformation I was giving out and derailing this thread.

On the subject: I was enjoying itrials daily with my friends daily running each trial once but it become boring after doing it too much. Only MO runs were somewhat entertaining but only badges left for me were magi trial (and people knows what I feel about it or hybrid slot so not too much thrilled to run it) and MoM's Malaise illusion one (one last not spawned all the runs I made)

SSA's are fun but I won't run them more than once unless I want to see story again.

Extra character slots (I only play in one server and on really rare occasions I move to other servers, even on my main server I still have 5 or more slot left and I didn't bought any extra slot), costume pieces, AT's and powersets are all good deals but I need to make some calculations if they can be bought with money spend on pp's rather subscription since I am tier 9 vip they maybe only things that can eat my PP extra on what I am already buying while vip.

Only thing that may worth to keep my vip at this point is Superior ATO's. Since catalyst is an incarnate drop I wonder if my already slotted purple ATO's will stop function but than again I will probably focus on my low level toons which were sitting in slots since I joined game so it may not be a big deal. Oh and second thing is beta testing I will definitly get back to test genesis or other incarnate slots but there is a long time for that to happen.

Now if VIP had some ingame benefits on vendors and at WW like %5 discount at things bought or no fee at WW while seeling (or half fee) I think being vip would be more appealing to me.

I am just telling what happened to with my account and this was not only time I got an extra token either like I said almost in every 3 month or so I got one extra token in the second week of that month. Admitedly I bought too much point and can't backtrack all of my purchases but I always bought points with bulk so one extra token in about every three or so months quiet obvious to see.

Like someone said maybe it is a bug or they changed how things handled since posi's statement or on a rare occasion system was giving me a token that forgotten because of my bulky purchases. I am currently sitting at 129(34 being unspent) total tokens and billing only shows 6 month back of purchases so can't check it unless I try to get my credit card report but it is only available for a year back too so can't check my june 2011 purchases which had some bulky purchases to open tier 9.
