    Yeah.. When I compare it so some of the other brute secondaries I can play, I can get more or an equal amount of mitigation through other sets without the negatives.. Really I want to see something that's up there for damage resistance and can run missions on challenge 4 or 5 with no problems.

    But my stoner really can't.. And that makes me sad. It actually makes me want to re-roll my character as a tanker. :-/

The job of a Blaster is to kill. The job of a Defender is to protect the team. Considering the benefits the two get from Tough (especially Defenders), an AT designed to hold aggro should get a higher benefit from Tough to help it survive. A 17.8 boost is pathetic by comparison.

    Honestly.. Even stone armor seems sub par. The resistance/defense gained from granite are good, but not wade into a huge group of high level baddies and come out alive.

    At least not without tough and weave also backing up the stoner.. And certainly just about anything outside of granite is pretty cruddy too.. My stone tank doesn't really need granite that often, my brute seems like he'd die if I tried to do anything but granite anymore.

    Meanwhile, my /SR brute does more damage, attacks faster, and ends up taking a lot less damage, thanks to the soft cap, which is ~15 % off for the stoner..

    Hi! I'm an arrogant Invuln tank.

    No, I'm not posting to flame your comment. I'm posting to thank you for pointing out the obvious to all the other Invuln tanks. There's a reason I take out enemies with Psi powers first. Not second, not fifth, but first. It's because they scare me.

    And yes, I have tanked the clockwork king effectively. How? It's easy. You get the /Dark Scrapper to take the aggro, turn off your toggles, stop taunting, and attack really really slowly.

    I too am an arrogant inv/ tank, and I have no problems with psi.. One build I've got has just about (around 42-43%) capped defenses to ranged, which makes psi less scary.. The second build has a 35% resistance to psi.. Also making it a lot less scary.. There's ways around holes with io's..

    Just like my Spine/Dark scrapper whom sucked endurance for 37 levels, made a few adjustments to his sets and barely sees his end bar move anymore.
  4. Yeah after playing a DM/SR character and loving it I can see how DM/SD would be freakin sweet also!

    I am also having similar experiences with my SD/SS tank. The rage and AAO really help make my tanker not feel like he's sub par damage in a lot of cases..

    SD is a solid set!

    While I agree with your quantification of Regen vs. WP, I've gotta say that DA seems way more active than FA..
    Figuring out which powers to toggle as well as when to hit your dark regen due to that massive end drain (if you don't have that sweet proc which I still need to pick up)..

    Fa just doesn't seem to have as much in the ways of clicks, unless you are considering the immob which can be done away with by just picking up CJ (for hte most part).
  6. Well somewhere along the way either the point I was making was either unclear or just lost..

    I've got an SS/SR.. He's a boat load of fun to play. He's level 50 now. I certainly enjoy him probably more than any of my other 50's.. So I'm just exploring other things I could do with him, hence the, is soloing AV's viable.

    I don't care that X primary is better at doing it. I just really was seeing if it's worth investing my time trying to figure out an AV soloing build.

    Endurance is somewhat an issue but something that can be played around with.. As it stands my brute isn't TOO far off from having next to 0 endurance issues. I assume tossing in the +recov proc may be the slight boost I need at this point.

    So we'll see.

    But yeah, the purpose wasn't to see what to choose to be an AV soloer, but what else I could do for fun.. For those days when teams are impossible to find..

  9. Hrm.. I may have to play around with what you've got there and see what I can piece together. If I don't know what I can do besides pick up fighting in order to get the +res proc, but if I could get rid of it that'd be great.

    My first build I had tough and weave, but with some small changes I was able to get rid of weave to increase my endurance recovery vs. consumption.

    I may have to play with that a little bit, though I imagine energy makes it easier since endurance consumption is a lot less of an issue since you can always suck it back.

    If you get a chance care to PM me (or post here) that elec/elec build?

    I've been through 6 variations of my /elec brute, and all I've been able to come up with is that he's a big load of crap. Even with more +def he drops quickly.

    I'm dying to make him viable because I love the character, but I just can't justify wasting more infamy on him if it's not going to work.

    50 levels and countless hours of toying with him and I've put him on the do not play list at this point. I'd love to take him off..

    If you are only worried about killing AV's then maybe try EA as your secondary. It gets a bad rap, but once you soft cap your defense it is a very solid set and you will never run out of endurance.

    Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking. It wasn't really that I was only concerned with the AV killing, but after realizing the full potential of this SS/SR compared to my other brute (crappy elec/elec) whom I know couldn't even consider going against an AV , I was just curious if an SS/SR could as something else to play with.

    I love my SS/SR he feels super brutish!

    And I've also been considering trying a /EA at some point in time. I know it gets a bad rap, but it always seemed MOSTLY good..

    Can't be nearly as bad as /elec!
  13. Boy how my opinion changed.. For a long time I wanted to see things from the heroside come over to v-side (which was done). But now I'm crying the other way.

    I REALLY REALLY wish I could pick up some kind of heroic equivalent to shadow meld for my regen scrap. I've got this awesome concept on a stalker which I think would be amazing in the hands of my regen scrapper thanks to different HP levels and such..

    Sadly, it may not be meant to be.

    That's all. Just wanted to share my thoughts..

    Well in fairness.. Superman teams up with Batman fairly frequently who carries kryptonite in his pocket. It's close enough to the same thing. Think of batman as the gun.
  15. Another reason to take scorch is because of the -rech granted by Granite. I assume that's what you ultimately intend to do as the remainder of the armors are rather weak in brute form (a bit better in tanker form but not as good as most armors from most sets).

    Because of that you either need some massive recharge or more attacks to compensate.

    Fire sword is ok of course, but scorch does a great job as a stoner being available more often than not.

    So that's something to consider.

    Breath of fire is definitely skippable however.

    I've got a SS/SR brute I'm making in order to eventually port over once going rogue comes.

    Anyway, I'm curious about the viability of ss/sr for AV soloing.

    I tried to do a rikti pylon which for a while I was doing fine and slowly ticking away at it's health, but I wasn't paying attention right and missed an aid self and met my dimise.

    Plus I also was sucking endurance at that time, which I've since invested in a numina's with the plans to also get a miracle tossed in too.

    This is all without any purples at this time, I may possibly throw some in at some other point, I just can't afford them at this point in time.

    Now I know the smash damage is rather resisted, and there's some longer animations in SS, but it seems the slightly longer animation of KO blow seems to make up for itself by dealing 700-800 damage with rage running.

    The problems I see is:
    Rage crash = 10 sec of crap damage which is 10 sec of AV regen = bad

    Aside from KO blow, the other damages aren't terrible but still more resisted than if I had chose DM or something.

    But DM I've done, so this is something different.. Viable or not?

    Either way.. SS/SR once you can get past most of the end issues is a freakin blast!

    About Controllers and Dominators, there are several tricks to them, for sure. The best one of them is to make the switch in your mind from "I'm going to kill these guys" to "I'm going to torment these guys so much that they just give up and either run away or die of sheer exhaustion".

    Seriously, CrowdControl-centric classes are all about a war of attrition. Some love it (myself included) some don't.

    Definitely worth doing. And yes there are a few that wouldn't have the quantum guns.

    Though I still insist I want to see a Quantum Granite!

    I'm entitled to say I hate Dom's and Controllers.
    I don't like the insignificant amount of damage I can put out.. The control is awesome, but I always get in way over my head and die quick.

    Of course there are always people who play doms/controllers who amaze me. I just can't figure out the trick.

    Still there's 6 other Villanous AT's with hundreds of combinations and 6 other Heroic AT's with hundreds of combinations for me to try out instead of canceling a subscription due to one thing I don't like.

    Stop posting.. seriously..
    Kheld game play is better than it's ever been. One small issue hardly "breaks" the AT.

    Dwarfs don't die in 2 sec (they weren't broken)
    Novas still do decent damage (that isn't broken)
    Humans offer lots of utility (that's not broken)

    Sometimes the switch between can glitch. Solve it by opening 3 bars and keeping the toggle for human and dwarf visible for a quickly and easily clickable button to toggle them on or off.. Problem solved..

    Or.. Bind it to two keys like nova on and off on [ and dwarf on and off on ]

    The fact that you don't understand how to work around a small glitch doesn't account for the whole AT being broken.

    I can understand that argument.. And my best advice.. Make multiple khelds.



    Humans vs triforms vs biforms vs form specialists play drastically differently. A few issues ago it was a lot harder to play a human form due to the effects of mez (all shields drop) but not impossible with the right team. While the new issues have brought buffs to any type of Kheld, they REALLY helped bring Human form only khelds more in line with their triforming counter parts.

    This doesn't mean a human form kheld is going to be as good as a triform in the area of what a triform is intended/capable of doing. But it does mean a human form will be good for the things the human form is capable/intended to do.

    Seriously though.
    Make the human form, and then give the triform a try. It really is an interesting style of game play which is TRULY different than anything any other AT can offer.

    For example, you can see Quantum Gunner (Hellions?) or Void Stalker.

    has those weapons.

    Later in the game it's not too big of an issue as you've got plenty of things to keep you alive.

    I'm surprised you've never seen someone on your trip from 1-50 say, "quant" or "void"

    Or maybe you have, but they weren't ever a real threat.
