Wow - nice find.
Only one thing I see that I don't really like - epics at level 20. Definitely too low. 50 was right on.
Edit: The rest is awesome and thanks for the info! March is really, really close! How do we pre-order? -
I noticed this in the past week as well, but it has been a loooong time since I ran a portal mission. I'm curious if this is a bug as well.
-
I checked this morning and everything looked good. Thanks again!

Quote:Thank you much!Apologies for the inconvenience, I'll pass this on to see what can be done.
The only real inconvenience: I had to test my new build on hoards of Rikti monkeys instead of more worthy foes.
The slight upside: I learned I'm really close to the Rikti monkey badge.
Still, it might be something to fix before the next round of testing (which is hopefully soon and significant, wink wink). -
Yesterday and this morning I was unable to enter any missions. I tried a scanner mish, an Oro mish, and an AE mish, all with the same result: an indefinite hanging "Loading...." screen.
Is anyone else having this problem? This is only on Test, not Live. Things are working fine on Live. -
Quote:That was my first complaint in CO beta. It's like a huge step backwards to more archaic game designs. The implication that heroes sift through bodies is bad enough already, but to make the mechanic so it is literally so? Really? I mean, at least give me a bling gnome! When I am over in the CO boards and people say bad stuff about this game, it really just "DOES NOT COMPUTE". I reread their crap like over and over trying to understand their gripe as a legitimate one...
Someone over there recently said that our auto loot system was retarded.
I read their post like 50,000 times last night, and all I could come up with was they are stupid.
I love the auto loot system here. I think little bags of stupid is just so dumb. Dumbest thing ever as a matter of fact. You have to click it to see what is in the damn bag... So thats one click.. another if you wanna pick the thing up.
Here if you dont want something you can one click delete it.
Anyways, some of these low post count doomsayers...
I file them under the too dumb to know whats awesome file in my brain. -
Thanks for the replies. I'll have to look into Brute SS/shield as well...
This toon requires (re-) rolling during Valentine's for the costume pieces, so I'm glad for some input. -
I have a level 50 scrapper electric/shield that I am very happy with, and will probably make a similar toon when GR goes live. However, I'm wondering if I should make the next one a Brute?
My concern is fury and how it builds with electric. My play style thus far is a bit stop-and-go, revolving around the recharge of LR and SC. I'm thinking that it would be difficult to keep a smooth continuous fury bar going.
Can anyone who has experience with both do a quick comparison of the Scrapper and Brute versions? Bottom line: which seems better, the higher base damage of the Scrapper or the fury of the Brute?
Assume theme/concept is not a concern. -
Then I wants my corporate monies! Nao!
Edit: On a serious note, I don't recall a negative thing I've posted lately about this game. I've been critical about certain forumites, and passionate about a couple of issues within the game, like universal naming, but not down on the game itself. In fact, I'm very optimistic about Going Rouge and have almost nothing negative to say about it based on what we know. -
Quote:No, but I've noticed for a long time now a trend where certain people with high post counts are always glowingly positive about this game, regardless of what happens. Are we to suspect that these people are also corporate plants?Okay, I've noticed a trend on the board lately... people who had registered either recently, or within the past 2 years (around the time that NCSoft bought out the game from Cryptic), that have less than a dozen posts... coming "back" to the boards and posting negative things.... or asking pointed and/or rhetorical questions about the status of the game, the age of the game, and whether it's "dying" or the servers being "ghost towns".
I won't name any names here, but if you look around you can see them. People with extremely low post count who come out of nowhere and suggest strongly that the game is DOOOOOOOOOOMED.
My conspiracy theory? That they are either employees of "that other game" or are hired by that other game as some form of corporate sabotage in an attempt to alter the general mood of the playerbase and to try to "kill" the game by attrition. By creating a negative environment and alter the discussion about the game in the direction of it "dying".
They also almost never respond to anyone after making their original posts... and sometimes just make another thread in another part of the boards saying something similar instead. suspicious? I think so.
This I strongly suspect.
I've also noticed a trend where certain long-time and prolific posters are certifiably obsessed with "that other game." Such as, "the other game has faltered this week - pounce, marketing, pounce!" or "suspicious people are saying negative things - it must be the other game's fault!" or "look at what that awful other game developer has done now!"
Why the obsession with the other game? There are tons of other other games out there that would also like to succeed at CoX's expense - why the obsession with that one other game? There is even another other game on the horizon that is very much like the first two - isn't it time to start obsessing about it now, since we are apparently doomed to be forever fretting over what the other game does? -
Just thought I would post this comparison of the closest character currently in the game - Positron in Steel - with our mystery man. The upgrade blows me away.
Note that I'm not saying this guy is Raymond Keyes. I think what we know weighs against that actually, as Tyrant's bio specifically states that Raymond Keyes is part of Tyrant's Praetorian council. But boy is the resemblance strong. -

I'm big on melee, but never played katana until very recently. I renamed my first main and made her into kat/will.
I play the "rebranded" 50 more, and this "re-powered" version as well - it was win-win. Thanks for the transfer tokens, devs! -

Quote:Duh. That's $45 per quarter, not month. That is $15 per month. That sounds right. What I find fascinating is that if you divide number of subscribers by dollar revenue (for the period they give subscriber numbers) it shows that the average subscriber spends $45 per month on the game. How is that possible? And yet, the numbers are consistent at that level.
To be fair, I had a toddler in my lap when I was typing earlier. -
Tony, thanks for doing the normalization to US dollars.
What I find fascinating is that if you divide number of subscribers by dollar revenue (for the period they give subscriber numbers) it shows that the average subscriber spends $45 per month on the game. How is that possible? And yet, the numbers are consistent at that level.
Whether something is off or not, the average ratio of revenue to users can be used to calculate an estimate of subscribers for the last few quarters where date was not provided. It works out to:
2009 Q1 - 107,311
2009 Q2 - 115,534
2009 Q3 - 98,142
Eyeballing your graph, it is apparent that the biggest post-CoV gains were from Issues 9 (Inventions) and 12 (Cimmeroa/Midnighters/proliferation). The biggest losses coincide with PvP and AE rebalancing, respectively.
Interesting stuff. -
Good data gathering, but there is one thing you fail to consider: the effect of a fluctuating Korean won. A sometimes wildly fluctuating won for the past 18 months.
The data you have, all in won, is converted from US dollars, Euro, and pounds. For the much of the past 18 months, the won has been much weaker against the dollars, so fewer dollars coming in will look like just as many won. This most recent quarter - the "off" quarter - is a period where the won actually regained some strength.
To be practical, the graph needs to be normalized to a single conversion rate, otherwise you cannot make conclusions about subscriber numbers. -
Quote:I'm experiencing this - it started yesterday. Guardian server, here. For the past few days I have been experiencing unusually bad market lag. Items are taking several minutes and multiple attempts to list, it takes several tries to retrieve inf from sales, histories are taking forever to come up, searches are taking a long time, etc. It even seems to be doing it at low-population times (i.e. late at night or early in the morning) when market traffic should be lower. Am I the only one or is this a server-side issue? Does the lag seem worse than most market lag in the past, or is it just my perception?
I am trying to put together a softcapped build and it is exceedingly frustrating trying to do it with this lag. Grrr... -
Can't someone just come up with a MS Excel skin for these boards?

If you are using the tutorial for starting capital, it is worth it (for me) to use your auto mission complete on Coyote. It really speeds things up.
