Captain America is peak human strength. He can lift the maximum limit for his size that a human can do and still be considered 'normal'. He's like an Olympic Class weight lifter.
Spider-Man is super humanly strong. He can tear a steel door off its hinges. He can throw a small car, with effort. But that doesn't qualify as even "low tier" super strength in the Marvel universe.
Luke Cage, he's low tier. New Avengers establishes he's stronger than Spidey. Iron Man's basic armor is probably around this level.
Ben Grimm, Colossus, they're stronger. They're around mid level.
Thor and Hulk are around the top level, typically.
Beyond them, you get guys in the cosmic class of power where it's really not about muscle strength anymore. Guys like Gladiator, Thanos and such.
Where does our game lay?
In my opinion, the damage indicates around Spider-Man's level of strength for Tankers, and getting close to mid level for Brutes.
Some of SS's attacks TRY for a mid-high tier feel like Foot Stomp and Hand Clap, but the damage just isn't there to support it. Look at how much effort it takes just to destroy a car. Or when you can't even knock over a Malta boss, who's just a normal guy in a blue cowboy hat. Or how much damage you deal compared to a teammate brandishing a wooden baseball bat. And when's the last time you knocked someone through a wall? Or picked up a truck?

Quote:Indeed. The proc being a stackable -Res debuff to enemies to build off of Bruising was something I suggested earlier. While i can see the usefulness for a +res proc, especially if its something like 5 - 10%, and stackable up to 3 times, chance to double the effects of Gauntlet (or allow Bruising to spread to multiple targets) would fit better, especially with the other AT IO sets adding to inherent powers wherever possible.
. -
Quote:I'm saying Tankers should get something that improves their offense as well, like all the other melee ATs got.Are you saying that everyone should get extra damage from their AT sets? Or that tankers should get a bigger survivability proc?
I'm also saying +Res is a joke. It favors some power sets over others and it's not going to help a Tanker against things that are really a threat to their survivability. The Keyes pulse, sword bombs and the like. Those things IGNORE damage resistance.
I don't advocate anything defensive for the Might of the Tanker set, but if I did, it would be a Chance for Self Heal which I think would be more fair to each set than +Res.

Yes.
Quote:Do we know the duration?
Quote:Do we know the proc rate?
Quote:Can we put it into a damage aura
Quote:or quick recharging power
Quote:and have it stack?
Quote:Look, simply put tankers were designed to be able to take a beating.
And Dominators have their attacks in their secondary power set, just like Tankers, yet they get a damage proc.
Also, Stalkers get one that allows any attack a chance to put them in Hidden, and Khelds get one that buffs all of their forms.
. -
Listening to the scuttlebutt in channel today, it turns out the Scrapper's AT set improves their chance to Crit off everything 20%
That makes what Tankers are getting even more ridiculous.
I want to reiterate how lame I think the Tanker set getting a minor +Res proc is compared to what Scrappers and Brutes walk away with in their sets.

Quote:Watch as rocks just appear in your hands with the magic of Handwave Technology(TM).I'm confused as to how you would suggest animating the action of ripping a giant chunk of earth from the ground and chucking it while flying multiple feet above the ground.
This wondrous tech also currently allows:
-Electric attacks and fire aura attacks to work underwater.
-Dual Pistols, Assault Rifle and Thugs never have to carry ammo or reload.
-Calling a satellite strike on your location...in a cave. In another dimension. A thousand years in the past.
-Mail boxes and cardboard boxes to be poisoned to death.
-Swords, knives, bats and railway signs to be stored invisibly behind your back.
-Small characters to carry around five metric tons of various "salvage" inconspicuously.
-And much much more!

In ancient times...
Hundreds of years before the dawn of history
Lived a strange race of people... the Druids
No one knows who they were or what they were doing
But their legacy remains
Hewn into the living rock... Of Stonehenge
Stonehenge! Where the demons dwell
Where the banshees live and they do live well
Stonehenge! Where a man's a man
And the children dance to the Pipes of Pan...

I tire of hearing complaints over this. I'm evoking this card in attack mode:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...easableFanbase
First the costumes were "too spandex".
Now they're "too fantasy". I guess we can't have that for the spell, dagger and crossbow wielding arcane ghost cult who live in a magical underground city with their demon pals.
And since I've played Unpleasable Fanbase while under the Sarcasm spell, I get to put another card on the field in defense mode:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...edItNowItSucks
Heaven forbid we update the 9 year old models of crude low polygon brown robes that don't react with proper physics with anything other than slightly higher polygon count brown robes that still wouldn't react with proper physics.

Quote:I agree. Aeon City is like four identical generic buildings in an unrealistically large plaza. It should be more built up and dense with a similar feel to parts of the revamped Atlas, but with dirtier corners and alleys.[*]Cap Au Diable is Dr. Aeon's playground, and Aeon City is currently just a few buildings. I'd love to see it and New Haven get a high tech makeover. Haven, on the other hand, should maintain it's current classic look. Old style buildings, with the PTS haphazardly crammed within.
(old)Haven is too uniform. All the buildings look the same and are of similar height. It's got some of the worse geometry clipping and performance issues in the game besides Mercy because they overlapped whole buildings inside each other trying to attempt some variation.
Quote:[*]Nerva is home to many a tourist, and I'd love to see that reflected a bit more. Turn up the sun around Agnicourt and Crimson Cove. Polish up Crey HQ a bit. Primeva and Thorn Isle are meant to be darker and spookier though.
Quote:[*]St. Martial, I feel, really needs a vegas makeover. More Neon. More tacky buildings that look like things! And the Giza needs some polish as well. The interior should be a spectacle. But right now it's... not.
The Flop, the Hard Way and to a lesser extent, Jackpot all look too similar, just with varying levels of destruction.
-The grassy area that runs directly east of Jackpot turned into a boardwalk area with cheap tourist shops, ocean front hotels and the like.
-The Flop should be re-imagined as the closest thing to a red light district we can have in a game that's 'T for Teen'. St. Martial is supposed to be a den of vice, after all.
-The Hard Way frankly needs content and a reason to exist. I don't think I've ever had a mission send me there, and there's not much there but Wailers and Freaks standing around.

Then stop throwing garbage on the ground, villain!
Because when you get a bunch of super powered C-list d-bags in one place, constantly jockeying for power and turf, you get a slum.
It's pure crab mentality. Or in this case, spider mentality.

Depends how you define "new" and "inherent".
It's a toss up if you consider Issue 18 still new.
And I have trouble calling it an inherent; I don't think it's on the AT screen or even mentioned in game at all.
. -
Hurl.
And again, I want to state how much I wish the devs would remove this restriction on these powers. Castle said it generally wasn't a mechanics balance point. You shouldn't have powers nullified just because you want to run Hover or Fly.
. -
T for Teen means you should be able to get away with what you can in a PG-13 movie, right?
Which means several instances of 's---' and up to one F-bomb.

Quote:I have to warn you and Djeannie.I have to agree with this. Using the Concealment pool as the example, as I use it often, I know I don't care for having to grab any of the Concealment powers when my Primary, Secondary or Both come with a Stealth power, and I just want Phase Shift to go along with it.
When I post advocating a change, the amount of sense I/it make(s) added to the number of people who agree with me is inversely proportional to the chances of the devs listening.
. -
Quote:Here's another question:And Invisibility without needing to take Stealth? Why would you take stealth if that were an option?
Why should we be forced* to take a power that is more or less made obsolete by the power we actually want just to get that power we want?
*Yes, you have the option to Grant Ivis. Setting aside arguments about the GI's merit, it's still a power pick wasted on a power you may not even want and will never use. That's wasteful and a stupid, un-fun choice to make players decide on the lesser of two evils.
IMO the prerequisites on pool powers are unneeded and are just an annoying restriction that doesn't add any fun to building a character. They should be removed on ALL pools and the only restrictions be the number of separate pools you can dip into and the level you can take the powers.

Quote:A /Super Strength blaster would do massive damage on a team, but solo, would probably faceplant every third spawn or so.
I disagree. A blaster with access to Rage, Hand Clap and Foot Stomp would have more mitigation than any of the existing Blaster secondaries perhaps barring /Ice.
Generally, Blasters getting access to all the existing Melee attack sets would be better than they are now.
IMO, another case of the devs dropping the ball with AT design.

Quote:We're running out of forum lines? What about the strategic reserve? Or the Northwestern fields that haven't even been tapped yet?And while I'm at it, knock this little period thing of yours off. All it does is increase the space your post takes up, nothing more.
Good thing my sig point is classed as a 'light truck'.

Quote:It was still some time between when took it out and when they actually told anyone, and between when they told people that the rest of the system would be spread out the way it was (which was already planned long before they made that vague unveiling). But that changed at the last moment... which sometimes happens with things in beta.
I doesn't matter what their intentions were, it still looks bad and causes unnecessary grief and drama.

Quote:OK, see, this is where bad things and Fail happens. Allow me to explain. This is not the case. Pool Tier 3 powers outside of travel powers will still be restricted as they are now. Only travel powers will benefit from this change.
If someone allows a person to believe something as fact when they know isn't true and they still don't correct them, that's bad.
A while back, Positron unveiled the Incarnate system during a presentation about Going Rogue with little more than "Ta da! Incarnates! And you'll need Going Rogue of course..."
He neglected to elaborate further. He also neglected to correct the people who honestly assumed the Incarnate system would be launched *with* Going Rogue, or that it would be released piecemeal over several years.
For over a year, he nor or anyone else on the dev team, corrected the countless threads by people who were stating how much they were looking forward to GR and the Incarnate system. Until a month before Going Rogue was to launch, after most people had already put their money down, did he "clarify" at last, that none of the Incarnate system would by in GR at launch and that it would in fact be spread over several years.
This irked a number of people, understandably. It seems impossible that Positron and every other dev and community team member missed ALL those threads over that previous year and only thought to clear things up at the proverbial 11th hour.
Now, to the point.
SDCC didn't happen a year ago. It happened a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I've counted at least four or five threads about the travel power changes, each reporting that similar changes were also made to the other pool powers too. This got people excited. They will now be disappointed to learn the truth. The disappointment can be proportional to the amount of time they were under the misconception, so at this point in time, not a lot of damage done.
So...if there are any other widely reported misconceptions or false news reported about any aspect CoH: Freedom I strongly suggest they be squashed sooner rather than later. These misconceptions should readily jump out to anyone reading the player created topics on the subject if they are in fact in the know, like a dev or community member.
Additionally, the gag order on players in the Closed Beta isn't helping; the sooner you guys go open beta, the sooner people can stop biting their tongues and the sooner people gain access to the facts for themselves. Just saying.

Quote:None of the servers are especially empty and you can team even off peak hours if you know where to look. Some servers are significantly easier to get on a team than others though and I find the lower population servers frustrating to do teaming on depending on the time and what I want to do.
The fact of the matter is, as the game gets older the playerbase gets more introverted because the people who persist stand out more from the people who are just passing through; you know who's in for the longhaul and people naturally gravitate towards friends they think will stick around. Players have formed their cliques and tight mini-communities on every server, but it does not mean they don't welcome outsiders. It does mean you have to make the effort to introduce yourself, join the right chat channels and know where people congregate in every sense.
In short, it's not so much the population has gone down unacceptably, it's that the population has become more focused and formed little orbiting communities that don't spend most of their time in Atlas Park Broadcast.
