  1. and.... Happy New Year!

I saw things last night that I wish I had not and let's leave it at that. Though a highlight of the night was being at a stop light and a cop pulls up next to us. He was playing Spider Solitare on his computer. This was at 12:15.

    Wish me luck!

If she wants to ride on a seahorse we can play little mermaid in the....... I just don't get WoW. I do not dislike it; just do not get it. I have played it and we have two accounts, but mine is inactive.

I told her I just prefer wearing spandex to tights.

So, I get all the new shiny graphics. So Happy New Year to me; the bad news; I had to pay 6 months to WoW for the wife to convince her. Grrrrr wish she come back here and play.

Well i found the virus and have it stopped for now but as soon as i have to reboot blah this thing is a pain in the ***, one good thing i did a complete system wipe and now have a lot of gigs again. Got one of those 1 terabit external harddrives from santa just in time

    Wish me luck!

As some of you may know, my computer caught a nasty std. So i may be gone for a few days as i get the computer some much needed counciling. Hopefully this will not take long to correct. I tried to use this as an excuse to get a new pc or mac but the wife said something about not having the money or some such garbage. .

Hopefully this issue will be fixed before the new year, if not...

Have a great New Years! And i will see you in 2011!
  8. Yes indeed, Happy Holidays to all my fellow protectorites!

Farewell Castle, You will be surely missed!

It really does feel like Going Rogue was a dangerous gamble that hasn't paid off as well as the Devs wanted. Now we're seeing special sale offers, staff downsizing and much less Dev interaction. I hope Issue 20 will turn things around

I doubt that is it, they had a massive layoff after CoV was released as well. This is normal before huge launches in MMO's. They stock up on staff to get things done faster and then once released, the developers go on to the next project.

It is sad, however, that this go round we lost BaB's and Castle; but I am sure both were on their terms and not the company. And who knows, maybe they are secretly both going over to City of Heroes 2 and cannot tell us due to contractual reasons. :P
  10. Sorry to hear that you are leaving, but I'm sure it's on to bigger and better things. You will be missed!

    No new zones

I like getting new zones and wish that with each issue a new zone would be added; or at the very least an update to an existing zone.

Let's face it, Boomtown is a mess. Of course I have not bothered to go into Boomtown, other than tf's and the instanced maps, in 6 years, (with the brief exception to get the new badges.) I'd like to see the zone turned in to a co-op low level zone, much like RWZ. Added in a new 5th exclusive TF/SF.

I would also love to see more events that tie in with every TF/SF ending like the LG tf does. For example; after completing the 2nd Positron TF; the Vahz counter attack against Positron. Both Positron and Val. would of course defend themselves as well as the local police would assist as well. Make it similar to the Pratorian Event with the ghouls. After defeating x number of Vahz then chase down the remaining Vahz to a nearby sewer entrance. From there Postiron could join you in taking the fight to the "frankenstein" map for a final confratation with the Vahz leader.

To help those that do not want to join in the event but would like to start their own TF, a reporter/police officer. whatever could be added just shy of the actual event and broadcast to those nearby that they needed to talk with you.
  12. I think you all are being to harsh here. Any chance to play CoH is a good thing . I'd like them to take a stab at something for the tablets, but having never used a tablet I do not know how practical that would be.

    More Raids?

I'd like to see more raids as well, more during the week rather than the weekend, but I know that is harder to get going due to work related issues.
  14. I never really got them either. Makes a good "go click on this" for the tutorial but after that, they have no purpose. I remember once seeing my name on there for beating the most BP's in Talos a long time ago (surpise I was badging). How about they display the top times for local or all Task Force, or perhaps a place to see Lore on the local enemies.

Ah, but here in lies the problem. My guess is the issue 20 will be out around Feb/Mar. Now granted, including this month, that is 4 months from now. Yes, I agree there will be a die down factor once all our 50's get the goodies. Now of course I cannot say whether we will be getting the Judgement set or the remainder of the Alpha set at that time, but again a "grind*" hunt will begin anew with all our level 50's.

Now if, as I suspect, the rest of the Alpha slot will released shortly after the holidays are over; mid-Jan. Again the 50's will be busy doing the high end task forces. As I also suspect that Rares will be anywhere between 2 -4 Uncommon's each for 1 Rare.

Of course at this time we do not know what will be required to get the Judgement AOE's, whether it be shard drops again, or some other aspect.

Also let's not forget the new players that stick with the game till level 50, who will then want to do the high end mission, which could create a new set of players ignoring the low level newbies.

So again, I submit, that either we can earn the shards from all TF's, or a end of TF bonus (like the merits are) to help promote the low end TF's. Probably somewhere along the lines of 3 -5 Shard bonus only when the TF is completed.

Yes, I know this is mostly "worst case."

*Grind in this case is being used liberally, as I do not find the shards to be difficult to receive.
  16. well I guess we could just wait till the next anniversary attack to get the High end Hero's out . But it's my money and I want it NOW!!!!!
  17. A bit off topic but it goes along with the weather discussion.

The medi-teleport mission for i19 is amazing. However I noticed something in one of the missions and for those that also have completed it, you would have had to notice it also.

Staircases where added to the level design; what! Why do we need stairs added to a building now after 6 years? Sure the building is on fire, so what. We have been using working elevators now in buildings that have fallen over sideways, buildings that are frozen with sheets of ice, flooded buildings without the need of emergancy staircases. So why add them now???

    WHY???????

I'll tell you why, because it's cool. It adds to the overall story. The building is on fire and the elevators are down, what now? The stairs!

So I ask again, why now? What purpose does it bring to the game. Why are these stairs not in every office building?

The answer: when it suits the design, it will be put in. The stairs are not needed, yet they were added to help drive the story.

Before, I get flamed(no pun intended). I do know that adding a door to a level that does the same thing as an elevator door is a no brainer and probably very easy to do programming wise.

My complaint is simple, you should not add something as trivial as stairs, but be so dismissive of weather. When it comes down to brass tax, they do the same thing; create atmosphere and nothing else; just like honking cars horns and NPC's walking around doing absolutly nothing. And the argument of, not adding weather just for the purpose of it being there just got thrown out the window in my humble opionion.

Again, I do not pretend to even understand the complexity of adding weather, from a programming aspect.

I would not want this; the whole idea behind Incarnate Shards and Incarnates is one of great accomplishment. By making all NPC's have the chance to drop like Vanguard merits would cheapen this experience.

The shard drops, and whatever future Incarnate stuff we get should have some sort of risk factor involved with it. Whether it be TF driven or lvl 50+ content.

A simple fix to this and to answer another issue brought up would be to flag the NPC's, (much like the Rikti are done after completing the RWZ story arcs for Vangaurd merits). A simple if player x = Alpha slot then shard drop at ???% during x TF/SF. Now how simple this would be to implement, I have no idea. My programming skills drop off after Qbasic.
  19. The question remains and of course never will have a satisfactory answer of when and if attacking a badger in a PVP zone becomes griefting.

I'm see both sides of this issue, as a badger, I just want to be left alone in those zones. And after an attack I will then state that I am there to simply farm badges. Most of the times the attacker will back off, yet there are those that just continue to attack to be annoying.

Now as a PVP'er, I would find it annoying that the one time I go to a PVP zone for PVP, all I find it badge hunters. I mean I want to PVP and they are there; it's open season.

What I don't get is the overall enjoyment of killing those that do not wish to fight back. When I was attacked in RV, I simply untoggled and stood there till they were done. Usually this would upset the attacker as now they cannot get a sastifactory kill. However this also is not right.

On this issue, I side with the PVP'ers; one cannot go into a PVP zone, then complain they are getting attacked. But think of the accomplishement once you have obtained the badge you are seeking. You not only beat back NPC's but actual people as well. I am happy of all 3 of my pill badges, even after they lowered the requisite down from 1000, (which is what I got). That was some hard work. I also got the infected badge from RV. So I look back at the frustration of RV now and say to all the PVP'ers.....

You may have beaten me several times; but I beat all of you and I have the badges to prove it!
  20. Without a doubt it is the newness. I just think this might have been a poor choice by the devs to not include the shard drops at least for the lower end tf for the high end characters. I totally get the concept behind the choice.

I am just afraid that given the choice, long term wise, do i either run a low end or high end that some would decide for the high end.
  21. First this is not a rant. I like to new system, and eagerly await more!

I see a disturbing trend happening since the launch of i19. Now I know that a lot of this is simply because our high end characters have a new goal to shoot for, which is awesome.

But I have noticed that the lower level players/newbies are having a difficult time starting tf's at their level. I am not immune to this either. I have found myself looking at the various chat channels I belong with; ignoring the request to do a manti, or posi simply to get the high end content for the incarnate shards.

I feel this is creating some alienation between the older community and the younger one and believe to help stop this, it would be better to at least let the common shard drops happen for those that have completed the Alpha arc at the same drop rate they are now at.

Now I would not say to go as far as granting the uncommon shards to be dropped as an reward for completion; as those should remain for high end rewards.

This way the younger group should have an easier time to get the lower end tf's going and all of 45+'s still at least get to work towards our Alpha goals.
  22. just so it is clear, I will be doing this soon, cannot currently as I am a hero; for now.

I agree, I found the whole thing a jumbled mess to look at, and that was just on my characters. I could care less about what they do to increase someone else's character. The ability to play a character as an expert player has nothing to do with what IO's are slotted. Remember there was a time before IO's and we all did just fine without them.

IO's; like a woman's undergarment drawer; should be a private thing.
  24. Thanks you both answered my question
