  1. I like the idea of an HP bubble for one more tool in the arsenal, but I can't think of a single power I would be willing to give up to make it happen.

My forcefielder amazes me in ways that no other character has. At level 1 he could go anywhere in the game in complete safety. In TFs, his team never has to fight more than one AV at a time. Since he got a couple cheap HOs, not even the lieutenant pulls in STF phase him. He can put Ghost Widow out of the fight with one shot while controllers look on in shame. Ambushes don't come anywhere near us until we're good and ready for them. What exploding zombies in Sutter? And on top of all that, every member of the team has softcapped defenses.

Sure he does crap for damage, but that's what the minions, I mean, pets, I mean, teammates are for.
  2. I expect variation, especially since this sort of thing doesn't seem to be openly discussed very often, but I'd rather not go into a 'job' and over or under shoot the market (however disorganized and fragmented the market is) by a huge margin.

Looking at this from the "contractor's" perspective, is anyone willing to either share their pricing system or at least drop a hint or two about a reasonable baseline or starting point?
  3. I see and hear of base builders hiring out their services for cash and fabulous prizes and think to myself, "That sounds nice." However, I keep bumping into the same impossible question every time I'm talking to people about what we can do with their base: How much?

I have no idea what the going rate is for hired designers. A flat rate is just dumb. Basing it off of item count or square footage seems off in so many ways, chiefly that they don't take effort and quality into account. Is there some way to figure out how to balance quality, effort, size, and scale in a fair pricing strategy? I'd rather avoid breaking out the upper level math.

What do the 'professionals' out there do?
  4. When did you try this? I've done it successfully as recently as a couple weeks ago. Keep in mind that it won't work with all 'base' materials; most shelves, cabinets, and desks have minute variations in 'thickness', even from one side of an item to another.

I may be wrong on this, but doesn't rent for that salvage storage come due every four to six weeks?

Never be afraid to buy prestige. Two hero/villain merits (21 missions over four days) nets you a Luck of the Gambler +Recharge recipe, which can easily (meaning instantly) sell for over 100 million inf, especially if it's a level 25 recipe (which only requires you to slide the level slider on the redemption screen down to 25). That's 200,000 prestige for a casual four days of missioning that many people already do. My mall base has built up over 3.5 million prestige in three months doing that. Plus, it's good for the (game) economy.
  7. You know how people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones? Yeah, I want to build a glass house. It costs about 300 prestige per square foot.
  8. Whew. Busy weekend with six new coalitions, now listed in the original post.

Updated the original post to answer this most excellent question that I completely forgot about when the thread started.

  10. It's not a mall; it's the mall.

The Arcadium is now open for coalition with active RP supergroups on the Virtue server. As the motto implies, the base is a mall, built for the sole purpose of being used by coalition members. Interested SG leaders can contact me via PM or my in-game email, @JelloMold, with any questions and to set up a meet-and-greet and/or tour. Coalitions are currently full, but I do maintain a waiting list.

    Current Coalitions:

    Current Locations:
    • Food Court:
    • Book Store:
    • Bowling Alley:
    • Clothing Store:
    • Terrace:
    • Movie Theater:
    • Club Arcadia:
    • Full Album

    Special Events:
    • SteamCon 2011:

  11. You don't actually need most of the invention table to be even visible for it to function. The important, clickable section is the black horizontal surface. That frees you up to sink the plainly tech portions into other objects -- walls, floors, altars, statues. You can also play around with it to see exactly how little of the clickable surface you need open to access the table. I'd be willing to bet you can cover over an enormous portion.

"Add Personal Item" is the grunt SG member's ticket to seeing the base from the editor's perspective, which allows you to take the sort of screenshot others have shared. Depending on how long you've been playing, it may just be a matter of claiming some veteran items (Don't worry about 'wasting' the claim. You get free refills.). You don't have to place any of the items, of course, and your base editor may prefer it if you didn't.
  13. Subjective:
*I may very well be alone on this, but when I rolled up an Electric Control character, the sounds reminded me (rather than the Nascar of KM) of a consistent, low, muttering minivan or maybe Vespa. Between the two sets (EC and KM) I keep fending off bouts of nostalgia for my Hot Wheels days.

*The option to return to the Beta SFX for Kinetic Melee would be heavenly. When I think of Tai Chi, I do not think of revving engines so much as that swoosh we had before.

That's part of what my friends and I have taken to calling the new "Praetorian Difficulty" setting. Solo Praetorians are punished for not having more friends with +1/X2(or 3) spawns. I'm sure it's all part of Cole's plot to ensure that no one survives scheming against him in secret. The one -- and only -- time I solo'd through Praetoria, I foiled his plans by stalking most of the missions. (Coincidentally, I recommend Responsibility for Stalkers. Felt like Glowie-Heaven in Neutropolis.)

It seems to follow the Praetorians into Primal Earth, too. Missions and ambushes that are ordinarily cakewalks can very quickly become death traps once they catch a whiff of that "solo Praetorian" scent.
