Conference Room

Does anyone have a Conference Room I can look at? I'm looking to build one under my command/control area.

Do you mean anything like this?

It seems more like a Library to me, but I have an idea coming out of it. Thanks for sharing.

Those are both great examples of what can be done to make a spectacular room. But I also have to say that I look at both of these and cry. Why? Because I know that I'll never be able to build anything near that. Not because I'm not patient or creative enough. No, because I know I'll nver generate enough prestige in order to be able to purchase everything needed to build any of this - especially in a casual SG that effectively consists of my 12 alts, and not much else.

I'm wondering if the devs are refusing to make things easier for us basebuilders not because it's more complex when writing the code, but because they would then have to admit that they were wrong on what they thought bases would be used for.

My main SG on Guardian is just me (admittedly I inherited it with about 3million prestige) but it's up to about 7million now.

Most of the items I used in the room I did only cost 100prestige per item, that's not really all that much, even when purchased in large numbers.

How much prestige do you have? You could probably manage better than you think (depending on what functional items you have/want/need, that's where it really adds up).

Never be afraid to buy prestige. Two hero/villain merits (21 missions over four days) nets you a Luck of the Gambler +Recharge recipe, which can easily (meaning instantly) sell for over 100 million inf, especially if it's a level 25 recipe (which only requires you to slide the level slider on the redemption screen down to 25). That's 200,000 prestige for a casual four days of missioning that many people already do. My mall base has built up over 3.5 million prestige in three months doing that. Plus, it's good for the (game) economy.

You can see the Base I built on an 8x8 plot before we got Raid Pathing disabled with pretty much the same setup as what you've got. That meant that everything in the rooms had to respect bounding box rules (which were a PAIN!). You can see that in the City Scoop Base Showcase thread in my sig ... from Oct. 10, 2008.

I'm still ... to this day ... absurdly proud of this 2x2 control room, even with its Raid Pathing limitations. The amount of walkable space inside of it felt like a 2x6 room, rather than a "mere" 2x2 control room, since it had THREE walkable levels in it! Looking down from the bridge, you had a sensation of "Treehouse Effect"(tm). And the most expensive items in the room were a Magic Axis, a Bookshelf, and a Pillar of Ice and Flame. Everything else in the room cost 100 prestige a pop.

Thanks for the encouragement there guys. Thing is, I'm a casual player with 70 toons total. And I have to sheepishly admit that after thinking it trough, I don't have the patience needed to be stacking and placing every single piece needed to build these masterpieces or anything reletively close.

And no offense to those of you who have built these visions of beauty the hard way, but I still think that if we had better basic building blocks we'd have a lot more people who'd be willing to take a swing at base building.

I guess in the end I don't like the idea of immense frustration in a game I play to relax from my crummy RL.

Also, I know that at first I was one of those people who were against basic items, saying that I wanted to play The Sims I'd go play The Sims. However, I do want to see at least some basic stuff that we can use to make our bases look a little more than some mad scientist lab or a mideavel dungeon playpen.

Hehe, I don't thing any of my bases looking like either of those. It's all about interior design.

If prestige is an issue, then I would suggest doing a little marketeering to build up some inf to trade for prestige. Yes, the exchange rate sucks, but dropping a billion inf on prestige can give you a big boost to play with.
