  1. Thank you all for the input. It seems like the set bonuses aren't huge with Brilliant Leadership, but with 3 complete sets, with manuevers, assault, tactics, and Steamy Mist all going at once... things are pretty decent!

That being said I'm leaning toward grabbing better IO's once I hit level 50 and start working on trying to make my toon a little better. Blood Mandate sounds like the easiest upgrade. Do you all think that having multiple full sets of the same IO's has more of advantage over using all different sets of IO's?
  2. I'm not an expert player who usually spends enough time on City of Heroes to get a ton of Inf, so I slotted out my DS/Storm with 3 sets of the very affordable lvl 40 Brilliant Leadership IO's. Is there any reason why I.shouldn't keep these, and what might be the disadvantage of this cheap IO set? I'm surviving pretty well and some AV's are easy Solo. That last Signature mish was a cake walk to solo with this toon. I also run the leadership pool as well (aside from vengeance ) .
  3. I'd really like to have seperate category options when choosing eye items, facial hair styles, and neck items. I created an Elizabethian Tudor-style character that I wanted to have a fancy neck ruff (availible in the "Jester" set) and a Van **** goatee for, but I had to choose between them (since they're in the same "Optional" category) rather than being able to have both. Is there any way to fix this? I'd love a specific Tudor costume set, but having the facial hair and neck ruff options seperate would solve my issue.

Thank you to whichever Dev (if any) that might read this!
  4. I'm currently playing a level 35 Demon/Storm Summoning Mastermind, and thought I'd share my thoughts here.

I'm only a casual player, and am by no means an expert. I like a nice simple build that I can play Solo fairly easily. I really like this build! I can't tell you any numbers or stats- all I know is that when I'm playing this build, I can finish missions in AE, Holiday Specials, Signature Arcs, Finale missions, etc... that I can't beat with my Scrappers, Blasters, Fire/Kin Controller or my Tank. I think one of the main reasons is the survivability of this build. It allows you to protect the Master Mind, even if you do have to respawn some of your minions from time to time.

Pros: Good Buffs, Good DeBuffs, Single Ally Heal +Resistance, Self Defense (with Repel & Debuff), Fair amount of Damage, Great Crowd Control (but this takes practice!)
Cons: Only having a Single Ally Heal (I took Aid Other & the Leadership Pool to help compensate), Being vulnerable to attacks by quick Blasters, no Self Heal.
Synergy: Medium- the two powers look great together, but it can be a bit of an overload at times.
Powers I Liked (in order of preference with this build): O2 Blast, Thunder Clap, Steamy Mist, Snow Storm, Freezing Rain.
Powers I recommend disregarding: Gale and Tornado add very little value to this build. I haven't tried Lightning Storm yet, but I suspect it will also be a skippable power.

I added the Medicine and Leadership Pools to this build to help fill in the gaps, and I think it works nicely. Having Ninja Run also helps to add extra powers without needing to take Travel Powers until you really need them.
  5. I would like to have a critique of my story arc: "Breaking Good," # 537099.

My arc is designed to be based around a story that I wanted to tell in the City of Heroes setting. One thing I noticed is that having a good story in your head and having it translate into a good MA Arc are far different things. Creating a good mission was definitely not as easy as I thought it would be. I'd wager that it's easy in the same way that writing a book on palm leaves with cottage cheese as ink isn't- and it might just take longer!

Perhaps, starting with fun and inventive in-game ideas would be an easier place to begin an MA Arc than staring with an unrelated story! Ha! I don't know. I think I need to read a "how to" guide.

Synopis: Aaron is willing to pay big money for anyone willing to help him escape from the employ of the Steel Canyon "Blue" Superadine Cartel. When his friend Tristan talked him into doing a few odd jobs for his uncle, "Junkyard" Jimmy, Aaron had no idea that he'd be stuck working for high powered drug smugglers. Once you're in the Cartel, there are very few ways out that don't involve a body bag. So instead of trying to free himself of the Cartel alone, he's wanting to use his recently aquired drug money wealth to pay one of the many powerful metahumans in Paragon to help him escape.
Unfortunately, his partner Tristan was caught and executed by the Marcone Family during a routine surveillence assignment. The once bold and lively Tristan, has now been melted down with acid and put inside a barrel that's scheduled to be dumped into Steel Canyon's fragrant sewers. Now Aaron's hired gun needs to retrieve his friend's soupy remains before they are poured away, and find a way to get Aaron out of the Cartel without causing a war between the Marcone Family and the Cartel that could burn Steel Canyon to the ground.

I'm definitely going for an MA Arc design that first and foremost serves my story. So, I'm not even thinking about XP, or tickets or how challenging it is. Those are all things that exist in a lot of other MA Arcs, IMO. Not everyone likes story Arcs, I get that, and it's cool. Different strokes, right? However, getting a critique on how the terrible the XP is or how it's too easy (It must be easy! It was a breeze to solo with my Rad/Elec character), won't really help me. I'm looking for a critique on the design and enjoyabilty of the mish. I'm hoping the dialog translates well and that some of my funny little Easter Eggs are noticed, but I'm not really sure if other players will see them. That's more what I'm looking for, but I'd welcome any feedback!
  6. Me too! I'd like to submit my new MA Arc for the February Contest. I really hope you all fun with this one. It's been on my mind for a while, and I really wanted to make a fun story based mish.

  7. Bubbawheat,

Thank you for the message on YouTube! I hope to see you on City of Heroes someday soon.

The M-Arc I was telling you about is as follows

    Title: Breaking Good
    Number: 537099
    Genre: Crime Drama
Length: Very Long, but it really doesn't take a long time to complete. It's 5 short mishes. Definitely less than an hour total.
Challenge: Easy! I solo'd it many time with my squishy Rad/Elec blaster with no problems! Yes, there are custom alts (but none with crazy powers), an EB and a Giant Monster (but he's just for a comic story effect and doesn't need to be defeated.

I think it's a fun story. I've worked a lot on it, and I hope you'll get a chance to see it soon!

    Later,

    Thanks DG!

    1. Yeah, that's a draw back, but I really needed an in-game story tie-in to my story and they work really well.

    2. Yup! I ended up having to create a custom group to remedy my problem with Mooks. It's better now because of it.

I've republished the new edit with the same name, but it now has 5 levels instead of 4 to tell the story a little better, but I made sure to make each mission fairly short and punchy.

Check it out. It's now AE Mish: 537099; And it's still called "Breaking Good."
  9. I've never posted in the AE forum before, so I apologize if I'm posting in bad form, but I was hoping for some feedback on my AE arc: 537006; "Breaking Good"

I wanted to make a Mish that used the location, history, background and characters from the game in way that worked well with my original story that was inspired by the show "Breaking Bad." I was careful not use any of the characters, names, or specific storylines from that show. The story and characters are pretty "much my own. It's sort exploring the idea of what if two rival drug dealing mobs faced off against each other over a new type of "Superdine," where an average Joe gets caught in the middle and wants to get out (in other words, pretty much the opposite of the show's storyline).

The only two CoX groups that made sense for my arc were the Family and the Mooks, but I wasn't happy with the level limitation that you get with the Mooks. I never like it when you're playing a Mish and you can't use half of your powers. Any suggestions of how to work around that?

Also, in the first Mish I wanted to have the hero set up some surveillance cameras to help spy on the Family. I've seen clickable "camera" mishes before in Going Rouge, but I wasn't able to find it as a clickable item in AE. I used something else, but the effect isn't quite what I was hoping for. Any ideas?

Thanks everyone! I appreciate any help or suggestions you could provide.
  10. I'm using DP/elec right now. I made it this way for theme reasons, but the combo of holds, DMg, and AOE's is pretty good. I'm not having any troubles with it at level 10, but it's still got a ways to go. I have to say it's been downright easy playing this build. My favorite build is Fire/Eng, but so far this DP/elec is really doing a better job cruising through solo mishes.
  11. I recently rolled this build. I like it, but it attacks very slowly, and I find myself using Sands of Mu, more than usual with this build. Any suggestions on some good attack chains? What is this build best suited for?

    Thanks!
  12. I currently have a lvl 50 Inv/EM Tanker that I want to completely respec into a PVP warrior!

I'm looking to create the best possible build for allowing me to take what Blasters can dishout, while returning the most damage possible. I'm not looking for AOE attacks nor Taunting Bosses at this point (I'll use a different build for that later).

I'm not a math dude, and I've never really delved to far into IO's and set bonuses. Any ideas or advice would be of help. BTW- I do have Mids, but I really don't know much on how to use it.

    Thanks!

  13. I'd like to see a high school styled gym with locker rooms, a gym, showers, bio lab, stuff like that.

Also, the inside of a stadium would be great. It could be customized for Hockey, Basketball, Rock Concerts, Monster trucks etc.

Lastly, I'm looking for a map to use that I can't find on AE. It's one of the ones I've played with those Shaman badguys who have Storm powers, Zombies, etc. It's a round outdoor mish with some trees and tombstones. It has a round outer ledge and then a step drop off to the round ground section. At the back center of the map is a castle like structure on the bottom (not at at the center on a bridge). Does anyone know what this map is called or where to find it?
