  2. agreeing that Ill/rad is a brilliant solo troller. It was my first serious character and although i don't play him too much these days, he is still an absolute blast whenever i do. radiation is still my favourite controller secondary (and probably my favourite defender primary too) it just is able to debuff everything whilst buffing quite a bit too. Illusion differs from most of the other control sets as it possibly lacks the hard control of other sets. But this is set off by having rather high damage potential. Key powers are Spectral wounds (a psychic blast essentially), blind (a single target hold), superior invisibility, Phantom army (get this at 18 and love it, it summons 3 indestructible decoys who last for 45 (iirc, its been a while!) and generally annoy the enemy and have a built in taunt effect so that they get it not you.), spectral terror (an unkillable stationary fear causing pet) and finally your Phantasm (a permanent but killable personal flying energy blaster, complete with his own decoy!).

    One small addendum:

    - Social Exile: You do the Westin Phipps arc, no-one from either side wants to talk to you again. Ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only if Westin Phipps then grants you endless arcs of his diabolically evil schemes. I'd do it. I don't like people anyway.
  4. Cheers people! Very kind of you all

Not exactly a particulary informative read, but as mentioned Its coverage nonetheless.
I won't be going in for the 'Win a Dolphin' competition, I look down on competitions that are devoid of porpoise.

I actually just groaned out loud at work and got funny looks because of that!
  6. Conga rats dancing away for your multiple Big Dings!
Well done to both of you.

    Your Blasters...

A lvl 27 Assault rifle/energy blaster who i struggle with. I mean I faceplant alot. ALOT.
And a lvl 10 sonic/mental blaster who I am rather enjoying. Seems to be more survivable.

But yeah, I'm not good at blasters!
  8. My namesake is a 50 Illusion/radiation, I also have a mid twenties Earth/storm (who i really like but only really play when I know I have a team) and an ice/sonic in the teens (who I think will rock in the future, just need to get him a few levels).

I am also thinking of rolling a plant/kinetics (or maybe /ta).
  9. ...at 8pm BST (GMT+1) Be there! :P

A dapper young scientist by the name of Jaw Shocker (skilled in the ways of firing electric bolts and building little gizmos and traps) will standing waiting in the landing pad in Fort Darwin at Mercy Island (basically where you appear if you zone from the tutorial). He is but a security level 2 but he is looking for cohorts willing to corrupt the rogue isles regularly on Thursday evenings. Twill be funs.

Yeah, so i'll be there hopefully from around 7.45 and look to get started as soon after 8 as possible with late comers more than welcome to join in if they send Jaw Shocker a tell. My global is @Jaw Dropper if ppl want to add that.

I think one of the things about CoX is you can dip in and out or play it hard.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I nearly laughed my morning coffee out of my nose.

Time to get this out of my system:

    Everyone loves CoX.
I love a bit of CoX in the morning but I so rarely have time before work.
My friends and I spent most of the weekend playing CoX hard.

    Okay. I am done now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    In that vein:

I find CoX a bit hard.
I was introduced to CoX bya friend and my days have never been the same since.
What do you like most about CoX?

    etc etc...

We are currently looking into alternative methods for Maestro users to purchase game time, and I'll post back to this thread as soon as I have further information.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As others have pointed out in passing above, paypal accepts Maestro UK, and I believe we can purchase game time with paypal. But I would indicate that not everything can be bought via paypal currently, so maestro users will not be able to (for example) purchase additional slots. Please can this be looked into since altoholics like myself love them extra slots and Maestro is my only card atm.

    Patrons

Both of my brutes have gone Mu mastery. For both of them this was partly due to concept, but I still think it is the best of the (rather boring) brute pools. This is because both the single target blast and the aoe blast are very quick animating, and so are great for slotting into attack chains to help quickly build fury.

    In more detail:

Looking at the single target blasts, animation time wise Gloom and Mu Lightning have the edge over Mace Blast and Spirit shark as the first two animate in around 1sec whereas the latter take over 2 and 3(!) seconds respectively. Mace blast has the added detriment of causing redraw. So from the purely dps and fury building point of, Gloom and Mu Lightning have the edge. I prefer the Mu ST as the damage is front loaded (gloom is dot but more powerful).

Looking then at the AOEs. Here the mace and leviathan aoes are the two most powerful, but again they are slower to activate than the Mu and Soul mastery aoes. The way i play brutes is to use quick attacks to build fury so that my big hitters hit harder! The leviathan aoe has the added disadvantage of being a cone, which is less handy than the sphere effects of the other 3 when you are right in the middle of the fight (which is obviously where u want to be bruting!). So again, Soul Mastery and Mu Mastery have the edge over the other two. This time i prefer the soul mastery aoe (dark obliteration) as it kicks out less damage, the damage is (iirc) not DOT unlike ball lightning. Both are a good quick follow up to foot stomp.

On to the immobilises. Again, the MU mastery immobilise is the quickest to fire. It also has the advantage of being a sphere (whereas the soul mastery and mako immobilises are cone, which as indicated above is less handy when you're in the thick of things.) However the web envelope has an additional features compared electrifying fences. As stated above, electrifying fences does -knockdown/knockback, not good for brutes who use this as dmg mitigation (like one of mine does). Web envelope however does not stop knockdown/knockback so your footstomp will still mitigate damage in that way. But the immobilise does have -fly (handy for longbow eagles etc), -run speed (handy for bosses who like to run, I'm lookin at you agent crimson) and -recharge (handy against...everything!) Because of this, alot of ppl pick the Mace set for the decent immobilise.

Pets I won't talk about as I have no experience of them and honest I can't imagine I would ever take them.

So there you go. In summary, I wouldn't go Leviathan Mastery, Mu mastery is the best at building fury (imo) with soul mastery a close second and Mace mastery has the most useful immobilise. Don't worry if you think you've picked the wrong patron, Positron has hinted that we may be able to respec patrons at i13 (although that is a while away!) I know my Leviathan Dominator will be glad to respec out!
  18. Due to my rampant altoholism and a wedding I was not able to get a large number of levels on anyone character, but i was able to take my elec/wp brute from 41 to 47 so im happy with that.

((on that note, when did elec/wp become so fotm? I when i rolled mine as soon as i11 came out elec was really rare, usually only used by concept elec/elec brutes. But this week i saw a ton of elecs/ and especially elec/wp. I don't feel unique anymore, sniff))
  19. Oh noes! You guys started without us!
Sorry my play time was fairly limited during this weekend due to weddings. I will be checking this thread today to see when/where ppl prefer to have a regular outing for an all corruptor team. How do you lot who have gone on ahead want to play this? Wait for the rest of us to catch up?

  22. Well ok there seems to be a fair amount of interest. So indicate your preferred time and server and i'll try and accommodate as many ppl as possible. Also indicate if there's a powerset you intend on picking (i'm thinking of some kind of /sonic so i hope there's going to be a /kin!!)

I think this will remain an all corruptor team as opposed to an all rad one though.
  23. Brutes: There ain't a problem that can't be solved with liberal use of SMASH!

(it's a bit longwinded so maybe "SMASH! solves all problems")

Edit: could also have something on the lines of:-
Brutes: Downtime? Huh, we got FURY!

Edit 2: Dominators, totally addicted to recharge.
