Can't imagine this being the case. Judging from what we see on Beta, the VIP server is in the same server list as the regular servers. In order to headstart *just* the VIP server, they'd have to have two different clients, since the regular servers would still require the current client, and VIP the new one.

I don't know, I'm not looking for a solution, which is primarily what gets posted in the Tech Issues forum. I have no expectation of this being a "user serviceable" issue. I'm just looking to see if anyone else has noticed this.

I think I've been encountering a bug where in some cases, game text is displaying the in the language a targeted player is set to, instead of the language (English) my client is set to. I've encountered this twice now in the past two days:
Yesterday, in Pocket D on the Beta server I was getting Info on the various NCSoft types. When I examined 7deCouer, his power info (Primary/Secondary/Pools, but *not* set bonuses) were displayed in French.
Today during a Praet invasion on Union, our team leadership switched to a different player, and the message stating this was displayed in German.
Admitedly, I'm guessing about 7dC and our team leaders language settings, but 7dC is a French language mod, and the team leader had used German in some of his chat previously.
Is this something widely known, that I've just happened to be oblivious to until now, or this new? Has anyone else had similar experiences? -

Have a link to the rules you'll be using?

Is it still possible to simultaneously run two copies of the CoH client on one machine, and if so, how?
I don't need exceptional performance, mainly just looking for a way to do personal SG invites without pestering my friends.
Thanks. -

Just wanted to point out that we haven't had clarified my earlier question - if the weekly reward timer is for *each* arc (as opposed to any arc), then the volume of weekly rewards will increase as time goes on. By the end of the "Who Will Die?" arc, you'd be able to get that reward table 8 times a week, not just once. It all comes down to whether they treat the arcs like seperate TFs, or a bundle of WST's that you can choose one from.

Re: the Sig story rewards - is that 7 day timer per arc, or per character?

Quote:Without a specific in-game statement, I'm not sure that I'm willing to sign off on the idea of us never fighting the Rikti's best. That would have to mean that they deliberately didn't send their best forces thru in the initial wave of the invasion, which isn't the best way to carry out a Blitzkreig-like attack. It's possible they may have some powerful emplaced defenses on their homeworld that they couldn't use in the attack, but I have trouble believing they didn't use the strongest forces they had available. That's an important point to make - we've never actually fought the full might of the Rikti's mobilised military. All we've ever fought has been a relatively underpowered expeditionary force, and even that kicked our *****. If they were to send in the big guns, we'd be SOL. In this game, two sources of technology are consistently praised far above all others - that of the Nemesis and that of the Rikti. Even Praetorian Earth, which is supposed to be far more technologically advanced than Primal Earth, still isn't anywhere near the level of the Rikti, with Neuron being speechless at the greatness of a single Rikti bomb.

Isn't the tourney team-based? As long as the teams are balanced now, and you balance any new chars you make between teams, shouldn't the changes be a wash, effecting all teams equally?

Quote:Note that the Rikti being Rikti-fied thousands of years ago, and fighting the Battalion a hundred or so years ago, doesn't *necessarily* mean the Battalion's not responsible for the chnage. They could have made the change, left, and come back, at which point the Rikti fought them off. I don't personally think that's the case, but nothing we know disproves it.This quote from the Hro'Dtohz file is, I believe, the only in game reference to the Battalion:
The Lineage of War reducing in size since fighting the Battalion is a strong indicator that the Rikti won that conflict. This would make the Battalion not quite so tough as some comments have suggested.
The following quote is from B'Nadek (aka Ben Decker):
If both these quotes are correct (and it's possible they aren't given that the Hro'Dtohz file is based on Vanguard intelligence and B'Nadek may not be overly well informed on Rikti history) then the Rikti change occurred thousands of years before the Battalion fighting.
PS The last three words in the full quote from B'Nadek are 'Cage a Man.' That is the title of the first novel in F.M. Busby's series about the Demu, a race of aliens who surgically alter other intelligent races to appear more Demu-like on the grounds that only Demu are truly intelligent. The alterations are intended as a benevolent act (though Humans and others see things differently.)
As far as the Rikti victory proving that the Battalion aren't that tough, we have precedents for different power levels fro the same entity in different dimensions (Primal v Praet Hami being the best example). The Rikti also have a collective consciousness, which could provide a pretty big advantage in a war. -
Quote:<Emphasis mine, this time>
Hopefully, when you read this, my name is not forgotten. I don't know why that's so important to me. I guess after all I've seen, a part of me is still human. I wonder if the same can be said for my counterpart, Rularuu.
As I used the blade, I shaved off a piece of myself. I am not the same man anymore. I still work among you - looking for answers. But I've also begun searching in the dreamspace for a way to protect you, and the rest of the world, from a fate that grows closer with each passing day. Something is coming and I must find out what it is before it's too late.
I have never been afraid to ask for help. If you remember anything about me, please remember that. But this...this is something I must do on my own. I'm going to try and save the world... again. But by all means, don't let that stop you from trying to save it first.
-The Dream Doctor
If he has to do it alone, it doesn't sound like he'd be recruiting a team (though of course, the "do it alone" step may be over, and he's moved into more advanced plans).
I also hesitate to even suggest this, but as of i21, there will be a character in game who has actually fought against the Coming Storm... -
Again, I have to ask where you're getting the info that the LW gave the Midnighters their crystal. The only place I've seen it mentioned is the ITF letter, which implies that's what happened, but doesn't actually state it. It also uses the kind of phrasing I associate with someone who is deliberately trying to get you to think something is true, while maintaining the ability to say "I never said that, you just assumed it."
Re: The Dream Doctor - The LW's writing has an amoral tone to it that makes me think it's not the the Dream Doctor. Not exactly a hard fact, but that's my gut feeling. -
-
And I think it's a mistake to think you've just seen LW shortly before reading the note. My guess is that we'll be doing that mission again from the other side at some point, making the Well vanish before we can get there. Closest comparison I can think of is Back to the Future 2, where Marty2 is working behind the scenes to make sure that works out for Marty1 the way he remembers it happening in his personal continuity. Or, to a lesser extent, the Circle K scene from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. In *that* mission, we'll see the note, and have just been with the LW, who sent us to move the Well.
-
Speaking of red herrings, does anyone have a cite for where the LW says that he gave the Midnighters their crystal. The only reference I see is in the ITF letter, where he asks if you've thought about where Montague got the crystal, implying but not actually stating that he was the source.
As far as the LW's identitiy, I'm going to go with DJ Zero; an Incarnate with trans-dimensional abilities, history of getting heroes and villains to work together, and Nemesis hair. -
Quote:I agree, either 8/30 or 9/1, so it's available for the US holiday weekend.Because the open beta will only be for a limited time and then it will be live.
I am still predicting 8/30/11/.
