I did, although I can't tell if I may have made a mistake somewhere in the process. Should I maybe try re-installing it?
  3. Me playing on European servers and all, I'd like to know for how long (hours), you're gonna let us play the trial, as I may have some difficulties in order to be there at CEST 20 o'clock.

EDIT: By the way, have tried to install the Beta Server thingy. When I get the text box: "You can't run this program directly, please run NCsoft Launcher instead" after having chosen the Beta Server in the Launcher and after it has checked for updates, is this what is supposed to happen or have I done something wrong?
  4. How EPIC, in the word's original meaning!
  5. First off, sorry for not having replied the last couple of days, I've been somewhat busy.

Generally I'm somewhat disappointed of all the dislikes up there, but guess I had more or less expected it anyway

About the "what happens if you miss"-question, look at it this way. My idea basically is that we are being teleported in front of the targeted enemy. Thus, should you miss, we're simply talking about a teleportation power.

Now, regarding PvP, I'd better be honest and admit that I had totally forgotten about that aspect when I thought of the idea :P Though, I mainly thought of the idea as a PvE addition, used by the stalkers who would have trouble getting a chance to use AS while on teams, where the lead tanker/brute would just storm in and steamroll the very group.

This is basically why I thought of the "snipe" component. When I say "snipe", please have in mind that I'm not talking about a snipe power with AS aspects, I mean a teleporting component for AS with snipe range, where the stalker is being teleported right in front of his AS-prey, with the abovementioned advantage.

This in mind, I have also thought of those sets with range/teleport powers, because, at least as far as I know, a claw stalker on a team does not see his Focus as a ranged AS, but "just" a part of his attack chain that is ranged (or an attack for runners). But yeah, should the power, in spite of what I think, be implemented, it should have something like a minute long, unaffected, recharge time, as it would then fit more or less with the stalker Alpha Strike on a new group.

The reason I thought of this was mainly to give Stalkers a bit more prestige, to make them look more cool and stylish. I didn't think of it as a means to bypass the Hide-effect or the interruptable effect, just a way to make stalkers more attractive to people critical of them.
  6. Before I tell about my idea, I want to point out that this is only an IDEA. It's not something I think the Stalker lacks or an aspect that's needed to make the AT more interesting, it's just a thought I got that I thought I'd hear other people's thoughts about (the word 'thought' was used a lot there, sorry :P).

Now, onto the idea. Why I got this idea I can't really tell, guess I was just daydreaming :P
The idea is a specific, unique perhaps, mechanic to AS. Imagine for a second: You are activating your AS in front of the desired target, waiting 3 secs to see the effect, depending on set ofc. Though, my thought was that in other media (games, manga, anime's, you name it), the assassin is able to execute his fatal blow from a distance, either by shooting something or by running towards the enemy...

Thought no. 2 -running towards your enemy- is the core of my idea. Though, as all people with even mediocre experience with stalkers know, moving while posing the AS will annull the power. My idea is to let us get teleported to the target while posing the AS (where, ofc, we are not to be interrupted).
This will be done by giving access to the average AS, as well as a "Teleport Melee" AS with quite a big range (thinking of sniping distance, 100 ft-ish) that works by letting the stalker target an enemy, whom they will then get teleported in front of right before executing AS, so that the cast time will work as a way for the stalker to avoid too much disturbance while preparing the AS, which might also make AS more frequently used.

I thought about also letting the attack execute from out of Point of View, but that might be too overpowered, should the concept get considered as actually being let into the game.

So please, tell me your thoughts about the idea. Once again, I don't feel that this should get implemented in game to better Stalkers, I just had a thought I'd like to hear others' thoughts about

One if the weeknesses of Plant Control in general is a lack of strong single-target damage. It is also a bit of a one-trick pony . . . it relies heavily on Seeds+Roots as it main source of AoE control and damage. Anything you can do to add more AoE damage and more single-target damage will help you defeat foes more quickly, especially when you consider the buffs from Kinetics.

I actually have Repel in my build, set up so it is very easy to turn on and off quickly. I know most people hate it, but especially when playing solo, I will sometimes use Repel to protect myself from melee attacks while I wait for my ranged DoT to work. Repel is the only strong defensive power in the Kinetics set. Some people play like a scrapper, running in to keep attacking until everything is dead . . . but I try to be a little bit more strategic. Throw Seeds+Roots on a group, and the bosses will not be held. Sometimes pulling foes around a corner, using Repel to knock down, then being able to assert control. It may not kill the fastest, but it is a little bit safer.

You were kind of vague, indicating that you would use them "if need be." My suggestion was that you plan to use then, whether or not you actually need them, to top off your health on a regular basis. Get in the habit of Seeds+Fulcrum Shift+Roots+Transference. Then use your Siphon buff/debuffs, then Roots+Transference. With the casting time of Transference, you may be able to have the heal cued up just as you are taking the damage that had been causing you to faceplant.

You had Super Speed + Stealth IO in your build . . . silly me, I thought you could use them. So maybe you should switch to taking Stealth (from the Stealth pool) instead if Super Speed is such a problem.

When dealing solo with problem foes, I try to take a little more time, and I'm not afraid to run away when things look like they are getting to be a little more than I can handle.
Regarding the lack of AoE damage, this is also why I decided Leviathan (for Bile Spray). Haven't got it yet, but really look forward to Bile on FS steroids Oh, and about Ice, nah, the theme (simplified ofc) needs the toon to have the power of the leviathan before going incarnate. There, I don't feel Ice fit...

Regarding repel, smart use of it, Imma say :P Transfusion/Transference: I do in fact use them quite a lot more than what might have been understood in the description, as I am VERY paranoid of getting hurt without any sort of direct defensive abilities (Resistance, defense, regen).

About SS: Yeah, I understand your situation :P Though, the reason I added SS in the first place was also opinions from in here. To be precise, a poster had the experience that without that travel power, he felt gimped in a way. That said, I mainly use IR as travel pow, SS simply supplies, and to that, I have many a time realised that Siph Speed would be able to do just as well. So I am very willing to add Stealth in the build

About Stealth though. My main Incarnate is a DM/Regen stalker. Compared to the stealth I experience there, how does the regular Stealth power help with my mitigation?

Again, thank you for your time and dedication to helping me

You don't HAVE to softcap to S/L defense, but getting a decent amount of S/L defense allows the foes to miss you more often, so that your healing should be enough to handle the damage you take.
Ever since I even showed the build on the forums in the first place, people have continuously questioned why I chose Leviathan Mastery over the more traditional Earth Mastery. THEME has constantly been my answer, so that is totally out of question.

If I remember currectly, I did mention the use of Transfusion (as well as Transference) to add up where needed be.

Still, it gives you a few seconds to get out your controls and may even help gather the foes into a tighter group as they gather around him. (I call him Twoey after the plant in "Little Shop of Horrors." Seymore called him "Twoey" because his name was the "Audrey II.")
Here, my problem is totally technical (Don't know if that's called AI, WAI or whatever, haven't ever understood those phrases). I am not able to run SS as much as other players, either because of connection or graphic card, so if I was to use SS, I could risk a small second of lag, and on x4, that 1 second as a controller is THE 1 second, as I'm perfectly sure you're aware of.

All in all, thank you for your critique, though

  11. Hello,

Having made a plant/kin troller a couple months ago, I have gotten a problem with my playstyle with the combo and do seriously need help!

My toon is currently lvl 40 (Rogue) and have just started Capt. Mako's patron arc (planning on getting some of the powers in the set). Ever since lvl 26 or 32 (don't really remember when I started with it) I have played with my reputation on +0 /x4 and have more or less gotten along well with it. Now, on Mako's 2 first mishes, a Longbow mish on an Arachnos map and a Longbow mish on a Longbow map, I have been used as Mutant detergent, in the way that I have been faceplanting about 10 times, altogether, luckily. My question here of course is, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?

Now, my typical strategy for fighting mobs:

    0) Activate Tactics, summon Giant Fly Trap (Hasten on auto), activate Secondary Mutation

1a) Apply Seeds of Confusion on a centered enemy, based on visual decisions.
1b) Apply Carrion Creepers continued by Seeds of Confusion to hinder further damage income.

2a) (Post-Fulcrum Shift, if recharged) After moving into melee range, apply Fulcrum Shift on centered enemy, then use Roots on same enemy.
2b) (Post-Fulcrum Shift, not recharged) Apply Seeds of Confusion (if recharged), then use Roots on semi-centered enemy.

3+) Add up buffs/heals if need be and continue throwing Roots.

Right, so, with the newly arrived Mids' version, I wanted to prepare some builds for new Incarnate abilities and got to look at the Lore slots. Here, I got disappointed to see that there were no information about the supportive values in the slot.

Could someone please link the thread made by Dispari, if it still exsists, or else inform me of the different supportive effects and values of the slots?

I am VERY glad to hear that! I have a thought of a Mind/Thorn dom myself and looking very much forward to making him; my prob is tho that I am uncertain of the build I've made, as I don't have much experience in Dom builds. Do you have one we can see??

Hybrid: A self boost, invulnerability+fortitute type power.
Genesis: A powerful single target attack (melee?)
    Mind: A strong AoE hold.
    Vitae: An increase in health/endurance.
Omega: Able to equip any power from the first 9 slots.
I have wondered where the speculation for this topic was! Seems I found it

Now, my imagination is a bit altered from your:

Hybrid: A toggle power, being able to mix different sorts of mitigation, i.e. Res(all)+to-hit/acc, def(positional/type(all in the chosen category)+Dmg(all), Regen+(Insert stuff here, for example mez),Rec+rech... Furthermore I kinda hope it's some kind of customizable transformation power (like kheld forms, just... customizable)
Genesis: A click power or toggle power, giving us a travel power, maybe even a new kind of power, or else a new visual to match the general travel powers. I'm thinking of this as movement is also part of the game, and a very important part of the customization game even.
Mind: A mez power of sorts
    Vitae:... Blanc xD
Omega: This one is difficult, as it is to the last step in our evolution to become beings to challenge the power of Gods (Yes, I think highly of my incarnated characters xD)

Incarnate Slots are opened by being in the Trial and earning "Incarnate XP" - the Judgement slot has it's own little XP bar
Alpha, Judgement, Lore, Destiny and Interface are all visible on this build
Conversion from Shards to Threads is available, but the rates are awful (I was able to convert 100 shards to get 20 or 30 (I forget right now) Threads - enough for one component)

I have screenies, but more once I finish testing (just had a CTD hence this quick post)

    NO FAIR!!

I wanted to act arrogant towards you NA folks as I, for once, would know more about the future of the game than you, no fair!! :'(

That said, you haven't seen the individual Slots' actual powers and values yet (at least not unless I skipped more than I fear) >

Unless we're not talking about this URL: https://secure.cityofheroes.com/cgi-...transfer_eu.pl , then I definently wouldn't say that it's up, as I can't even enter the page. And really, I need to be able to access the Character Copy Tool, as I have no Incarnates (or even proper lvl 50's) for tomorrow's Sneak Peak trial! :'(
  23. My thoughts of this:

1st of all: YAY! I can get to try these new, well-spoken-of Incarnate Trials, gonna be awesome

2nd of all (which is really in continuation to 1st point): I'm from Europe. can I PLEASE get access to the Character Copy Tool, PLEASE?? I don't have any Incarnates on my test server; heck, the only lvl 50 I have there isn't even slotted out, so he won't be of much help against lvl 54, Incarnate-only super groups.

3rd of all: Who brings cookies?

The other is that on non-archvillain encounters, the troller is breaking up a lot of the alpha strike, which means health bars are going to move a lot less than if the tank had to take the entire alpha. Still impressive that he can tank Recluse without his health budging or his end crashing - my fire tank has a bit of a problem with the -End/-recovery in LR's ranged attack.

All the same, DA is crazy awesome, and I'm glad you've come to realise this.
Indeed, the troller (elec/kin all the more) certainly did have his role in helping the team do the TF more awesomely, probs to him too. And about the Dark Tanker, the only time he actually got his health bar to red was at the start of the LR battle, it only happened then and it got fixed quite fast.
