Two: most of those options are primarily self or solo options, and have less team utility than having a genuine buff/debuff set.

I find myself doing a lot of different random things on my Peacebringer, but that's not quite the same thing as being versatile in my opinion. If you want a very diverse playing experience, Peacebringers might be the winner. But do you think that actually translates into a wide range of solo and team utility overall? Or does it tend to translate more to your own experience being varied rather than your net contribution to the team or solo being varied itself?
    Lets see:

    You can off-tank.
    Do damage in Nova.
Limited control in Human, along with additional dps.
If you take medicine pool you can have 2 ally heals (one of which is on an incredible fast recharge and heals for a decent amount) and offer mez protection to squishies, along with an ally rez.
You have reliable knock in most powers that also have a -def debuff.
About the only thing you cant do that would really help a team is add -regen.

    Lets not forget cosmic balance.

Along with your self buff/utility powers, I do think that is the definition of versatility.
IO's and frankenslotting has solved the slotting problems associated with khelds. And the alpha slot improves upon that further.

    Just my opinion, ymmv.
  2. I haven't played elec/elec to any great level so I might be wrong.

I thought grounded gave knock protection (and very high mag at that) so maybe you could transfer the steadfast to another toon. And also elec had tools that gave great endurance management (powersink maybe its consume), so maybe endo management isn't too big of a concern.
Im on my phone right now, so I can't check powersets quickly.

Personally id build for defense and recharge, but again I don't have experience with elec/elec.

    4. Profit!

With 4 computers to update (and sometimes deal with hardware issues), why wait for all of them to download and apply a major release, much less a new install?

    --NT
That's all well and good, but when your computer dies and you have to buy a new one and you have to reinstall the game... sometimes you have to patch as well.
And no it didn't really take 50 hours to download, probavly a little under an hour.
  4. New computer is loading the game...
Only 50 hours of patching and ill be able to play the greatest MMO again after a 4 month unwanted break.
    Omg, im getting faint...
    Sooo close...
  5. Off the top of my head CoT and carnie bosses are the most common -acc debuffers. Im sure theres more, but that's the first thing that came to my head for when you'd need +tohit
I think tactics gives almost the same value for alot less endurance usage. You'd have to pick up a prerequisite to get it but that's an option.

    I didn't think FA gave a +perc bonus.
  6. Reading this thread and thinking about my original question I have a better understanding of the question id liked answered (thank you for the help that you all have given me).

My cpu doesn't "need" specific memory per se on my gpu. If I buy a card that's DDR5 the processor will be able to function properly. Now, if I was buying RAM id need to stick with specific memory (in this case DDR3) for the processor to read the memory. Correct?

And if that's true, is there a noticeable performance difference between DDR3 and DDR5 gpu's?

Last question. Might I have to plug a power connection directly to the gpu? And are there such things as external power supply units?
Id rather not have to install a new psu in the tower if I can use one externally (im not techno saavy)!

    Again, thanks for helpin.
  7. So, if im upgrading a video card, and my processor/motherboard states that its DDR3, I should stick with a gpu that's DDR3 correct?
If I go up or down to DDR2 or DDR5 would that effect performance?

    Thanks again for replies
  8. So with a top of the line video card, upgrade power supply, 8 gigs of ram what kinda of performance can I expect with this rig?
    Ultra mode maxed?
Decent fps on shooters or will it not cut that?
  9. Ya I couldn't remember if it was ati or nvidia that ran better on CoX
    good to know
  10. As this is a AMD motherboard ill probably stick to ATI
  11. Limited budget...
id rather not spend 500 for a vid card. I've learned to spend more for adequate power...
  12. Any ideas on power supply and vid card?

I was also under the impression that multiple video cards were housed inside the same card (if that makes sense) and not slotted multiple times on the motherboard.

Also the operating system is windows 7 64bit
  13. HELLO!
Sarsipius here. Im getting this computer as a gift.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...reg_R1002_USEN

What components would I need to upgrade in order to play games like CoX on max settings and games in the future like Diablo 3?

    Thanks for all the replies.
  14. @twoflower writes awesome stories. I don't know if your looking for easy stuff but his/her arcs would be my first choice to run.
you could run the "dev choice" missions as well
  15. I have battlemaid on freedom, im surprised I've managed to keep it for as long as I have.
Id be real pissed though if that toon got generocized!

Ya, I feel the same way...
Adding damage to cobra strike was like the last thing the set needed.

    Stun Capability

Ma/da is incredibly potent as a stun machine. Mines at 50 and IO'd to the 9's.
I haven't had much play experience with the new changes to ma and how cobra strikes 100% chance being changed to 75% really plays out. I believe Arcana said it was generally more stunage being put out overall to a greater percantage of mobs.
I say try it, its a tough combo to get end usage under control but when it is managed the only thing that really gives this toon trouble is AVs.
As an added bonus (and this is true for all /da toons), most controllers primary form of mitigation is stuns, so when teamed with them, most spawns are completely stunned from the get-go.

    Just started

The biggest mistake you can make OP is letting fortitude sit unused in your powertray.
It might be THE single greatest power in the game.

Shield Defense has higher defenses, and higher resistances (potentially), but allowing enemies to stick around longer gives them more chances to get lucky and two shot you. Willpower is more vulnerable to alpha deaths by comparison, where the incoming DPS is too high for their regen, and their defense and resistance isn't high enough to reduce the DPS enough to give them time to get past the alpha volley. This is essentially the old SR vs. Regen debate, just complicated more with the newer sets' layered mitigation. Is it better to rarely get hit, or just regen hit points than the incoming damage takes away? Short answer: it depends. Long answer: it depends on a lot of things . In this case, your primaries are skewing things in favour of WP. If you had DM/WP vs. BS/SD (to keep with the sword theme), I think you'd be saying the opposite of what you are now. *shrugs*

  20. My machine died, as in dead.
I haven't played coh in probably 2 months. I get my forum fix from my phone. I appreciate ur response but I don't follow. Should I go intel or amd?
    please advise.
  21. Is father xmas guide to comps in his sig reputable?
im in the market for a new comp as well and would like to build my own. I've read his sig and some people say the parts he's suggesting aren't combatible.
id like a rig that could handle diablo III when it releases, and of course this game with maxed setting if possible.

    Team Dynamics

The only thing I would add is to play on freedom. It has the largest population by far. And while what everyone is sayin is true about team make up, if your on a slow server you might find it difficult to find the fantastic teaming that COX has to offer.
  23. Might I suggest the "zen" of scrapping, the claws/sr.
