  1. Thanks to all for sage advice. A corrected version using Combat Jumping and the correct Positron proc is shown (have been having headaches, guess I took a My-Duh by mistake .)

    However, is CJ the Best choice? I don't have to have it to get the softcap, and can easily slot the 5th LotG in a passive. Also, now that I have plenty of ACC help in sets, should I remove the Kismet +to hit and use that slot elsewhere?

  2. Lizzz is back with a final question. This build is effectivly softcapped to all 3 positions now, with a bulge in melee defense to remain capped even under debuff and gain the recharge bonus of two obliteration sets. The final power choice is WHAT?
    I have prepared 2 variants using Stealth and Combat Jumping. What other options am I overlooking?

    STEALTH - Never had a toon with real stealh. How useful is it? (on reflection I suppose I could put a proc in Shockwave on this build too, and forfiet the regeneration bonus, as the end reduction is minimal and the power will need to be turned off in any extended fight.

  3. Ok here is a NO Fighting Pool version with quickness back in.
    Global plus slotting gets Follow Up to 82.92 + 83.8 = 166.72% RCHG and can go as high as 178.84% with an reg Lvl 50 RCHG IO.
    The last Power is not firm. Energy Torrent shown is just an idea for a 3rd ranged Knockdown.
    With two performance Shifter Procs actual end Recovery should be about 4.3/sec and a net of 2.4/sec if the number I saw of .2 per proc is correct.
    With no fighting Pool there is no backup S/L resistance mitigation, but do gain real Sealth with power and proc.
    Any Better?

  4. Sorry I was so long getting back to this and thanks to all for your replies.
    Not worried about endurance sustainability any longer, Lizzz is now Lvl 50 and my in game experience matches what Doom described. So I definitely do not want to use conserve power.
    However I did do the original late at night and in haste leaving out Quickness!
    So:
    1) Posted a revised version of the build below. What do I cut to put quickness back in the build? I hate to lose Shockwave but can't see anything else.
    2) Do I need to look at dropping the fighting pool completely and reworking with CJ and sets?
    3) SpikyShane posted a build using Enzyme HO's to boost defense. Does this trick still work in game, or has it been fixed so only Cytoskeleton will boost defense?
    4) Does Aid Self need an Interrupt reduction in a soft-capped build or not?
    5) Katie V pointed out that Defense Debuff resistance caps at 95% and my getting it to 100% in MIDs was wasted. Ok, Lizzz's in game build has about 85% debuff resist at present, as still getting sets. I am having cascade defense failure vs large mobs of Romans in Cim much more often than I expected. I really want to try farming there. Postulating the final build will have 95+% defense debuff resist what Soft-cap Defense % would be needed to remain at 45% after debuff. I tried to read the WIKI articles and figure this out but could not do it.

  5. This is a re-work of the Lizzz the Quickkk build that sacrifices some global recharge to include Aid Self. It was done in haste so exact order of power selections and slotting is probably wrong. The use of all the HO's is to help achieve 100+% defense debuff resistance and manage endurance costs at the same time. I would like to know:
    1) Will the Attack chains be smooth? I tried to favor recharge IO's where a choice was to be made in attacks.
    2) Do I have sufficient endurance reduction slotted in attacks to make this endurance sustainable?

  6. Thanks for suggestion/advice. I had to move fast and decided to go Fire/Cold for symmetry with the fire/ice blaster. The new player is my spouse and we will not really be looking to max these toons out, so a little RP should be fine. I can hear it now - - - 'Oh, you run hot and cold too?   10. Ok, there are NO guides for Claws on a Brute and only 1 guide from I-11 times for a SS/SR Brute.
    So I would like some guidance and or sample builds for my three position soft-capped Claws/SR Brute Jakkk Clawzzz.
    I am currently leveling a Claws/SR scrapper too. (Lizzz and Jakkk are each others arch enemies of course.)
    So I have a basic idea what will work from the Scrapper forum guides and threads. But I am sure there are nuances as regards a Brute that I have no idea about, as this is my first real brute.
    Any assist will be muchly appreciated.

  11. My first serious baster was also a Rad/MM. Fortunately there was a good amount of interest in Rad/MM and several threads about that combo at that time, back around the first of the year. I had only been playing 3 months and needed all the help I could get. I also wanted all the AOE's and after a lot of study, elected to go for the s/l soft cap.
    I love this toon.
    Cascading def failure does occur but you learn to pre-pop a purple when facing romans etc., or just have a quick hand for the purple insp column. Zevatron was a great learning experience for me and I have about 30 versions of his build altogether. This is what i play now. It will be very easy to sub in the 3 non-defense purple sets when I can finally get them.
    You would not think the 8 foot range boost in Cosmic Burst would be that important but it really seems to smooth out play. The twin Achilles' Heel just seem to work better when it is AV/Boss time. This build skips a travel power and is slow. The jump pack from Good vs Evil stacks with the Raptor Pack (also Hover and Ninja Run) to really help longer travel. I like having the snipe for the excellent set bonuses, pulling, and to simply back shoot runners. If you want a real travel power that is what I would cut.

  12. There have been a lot of really helpful posts in this thread and several others recently with regard to Claws/SR and /SR in general, too many to cite them all. Many Thanks to everyone. After studying all the various builds and comments presented, I came up with this for my scrapper Lizzz the Quickkk. I wanted the full set of primary aoe and cone attacks, solid recharge, decent regen, high recovery to support most toggles all the time and all toggles if needed, and run/jump speed boosts to cover lack of travel power. I also used mostly lvl 32 IO's so Lizzz could exemplar to lvl 30 and up task forces with minimal loss of offense and defence.
    The only concerns I have at present are the lack of a Kismet 6% when exemplared, and a defense debuff resist rating of only 93% due to the low level GotA in the three auto powers. I am sure there are others I missed.
    I am about to respec Lizzz and would appreciate any advice suggestions as this is my first attempt at a full scrapper build.

  13. Ok, about Focus. Clearly Focus hits a lot harder than Laser Beam Eyes, for about the same endurace and recharge, and Focus has a somewhat better casting time.

    I did want a ranged attack, and with room for just the one, I chose LBE for the Full 80' range (pulling, runners) and the debuff -def effect on hard targets like EB and AV. Also I did not want the KB effect on my only ranged attack. I just got my 6 month badge and almost all my experience so far is with Blasters. I have 2 lvl 50 blasters and several others at lower lvls, so this thinking will be subject to change as I level Lizzz up. I will probably take the Focus power just to have some ranged attack before Epic time.
    I already have to plan to respec out of Swipe so experimentation while I lvl is going to be the rule.

  14. Thank you all very much for your insights and recommendations. At this point I am leaning towards going ahead and taking all 3 from the fighting pool. In the build I have put together I tried to emphasize recharge with solid accuracy and damage buffs. The IO levels, as shown, are set to exemplar friendly levels so that hopefully all sets are active at level 30 up.

  15. Am enjoying my first serious scrapper, a Claws / Super Reflexes, very much.
    But looking to the future and a three position soft capped IO build is there Any Way to slot the Steadfast +3% Defense IO other than taking the Fighting Pool and using Tough?

  16. I was having a lot of trouble claiming items I emailed to my global. The following workaround has made claiming fast and a one click every time for me.

    Use the little blue button to detach the e-mail window from the chat area.

    Drag the email window away so the claim button does not overlap the chat area.

    Now click the claim.

    Works like a champ for me. Hope this helps others too.

  17. As Windenergy21 says just set a key. I use the numeric keypad and chord keys to run all bars (well bars 1, 2 and 3). For targeting, the numeric 'enter' is nearest enemy, the numeric '+' is next enemy, and the '-' is previous. I just hit enter or +, and then multi strike + to cycle to the best anchor target for the cone or AoE I am activating. With a little practice it is extremely fast.
    If you prefer a farthest mob you could use the '-' key or '*' or '/' for that. Whatever works for you. I have tried 'farthest mob' and find that it will often grab a spawn PAST the one you are really wanting to target, or the back of the desired spawn will be just out of range of the shorter range powers, hence I use the nearest and next sequence.

  18. Was pretty easy to Soft Cap this, but the Global Recharge (Haste) bonus on this build is poor so I am sure it can be improved. But it shows you the basic sets you want to use. Built in MIDS dynamically so the level up slot order can probably be improved too. I have not personally played these power sets so am not sure what the best slotting is where choices between a damage set and a secondary effect were available and both had ranged defense, so pretty much favored damage except of course endurance and recharge in consume. A second build that looks better to me using Flash Freeze in place of Snow Storm follows.

    PS: Trap of the Hunter (not used) is the Immobilize Ranged Defense set but Ring of Fire appears to do so much damage I went with Thunderstrike, which has better defense too.

  19. Just to complete the thought, it is possible to do a transformation that rips the Subdual and keeps the Flash Freeze 4 slot, and also uses the 3 purple sets. As before the exercise is simply dynamic without optimizing the level up of the slots. The spare slot is shown committed to returning Neutrino Bolt to 5 slot Decimation, taking global recharge over 100%.

    There are two obvious ways to hit soft cap.
    To keep low end overhead Combat Jumping --- remove the least powerful LotG Defense mod from Frozen Armor (which is in red levels, so minimal impact) making a 3 slot and and move that slot to Weave as a max 25.5% defense making a two slot, make all 3 late LotG's max Lvl 50 (15.94%). Lose 9% Accuracy gain 10% Regeneration. Or...

    Remove Combat Jumping replace with Maneuvers. LotG's in Frozen and Hover can be Lvl 25, other two Lvl 50. Retain 9% Accuracy from 4 slot LotG in Frozen Armor. This second version is shown. An advantage of the Maneuvers substitution in all these no travel power build transformations is that Maneuvers may be left on while Ninja Running, where Combat Jumping cannot, meaning you lose both Hover and CJ defense while using Ninja Run.     Notes:
    • Neutrino Bolt has the only Achilles' Heel as allmost all advice is this thread has suggested. NB is slotted with four Thunderstrike for the 7% Accuracy set bonus due to rule of 5 constraint on 6.25% Recharge set bonus from multiple Positron and Decimation sets. Sadly Global accuracy is low as so many necessary sets have a 9% rating (7 in all.) Purple sets solve this (as soon as the Inf Fairy comes) see variant at end.
    • Decimation sets now used in X-Ray and Cosmic Burst for additional global recharge. Apocalypse 5 slot if I ever get a set, probably in Cosmic. Took this Decimation idea from the most recent Rad/MM thread. Thanks very much posters.
    • Four LotG at 7.5% and one 7.5% Recharge bonus from Sting of the Manticore. LotG levels are 2 at 50 and 2 at 25 to exactly meet 45% soft cap while keeping some LotG active for exemplar.
    • Drain Psyche now 6 slotted with a 1037% end gain vs 7 mob for crash proof nuke. Easily adjusted to suit any preference, and a source of a scavenge slot at mulitplle levels if a 5 slot Drain is your druthers. If you want an eighth 9% accuracy bounus that won't count you can 3 slot the Nictus.
    • No Travel power. An early permanent verticle in defensive gem Hover, with Ninja Run and Raptor Packs for all other. Also have mission transporter.
    I wanted to use only Ranged, Cone and PBAoE attacks. No Melee at all, as I very much dislike Kinetic Combat, and want to stay at a distance when possible. Zev is now level 33, his current build is somewhat like this except for missing Irradiate and having Fly (I hate losing Fly,) and the 'defeat' them first, 'defeat' them fastest damage mitigation plan is still working with all SO. Does much better on teams with a real tank. This build is front end loaded heavily for damage, with the majority of the defense very late, so the next 10 levels will probably be really painful. Have yet to decide if I will take lower level IO sets in early powers for exemplar work or treat this as late game only toon.

    Variants (all shown with 1 slot open and all presented with simple dynamic slot moves. Not optimized.)

    Scavenge 1 slot, and preserve the 6 slotted Drain. You can swap the 3 slots in Subdual for a 6th slot in Proton Volley to use Extreme Measures, add a max defense LotG for a 2 slot of Weave. Then remove Combat Jumping and change to Manuvers. All LotG can be level 25. Net gain, you scavenge a slot if you don't mind the increased endurance load and loss of 7.5% global recharge in Sting.

    Finally,ignore Subdual, you can rip the 3 Lethargic Repose out of Flash Freeze and perform similar transformations but get to retain Combat Jumping. A version doing this with Kinetic Combat in Brawl and implementing all three Purple sets is shown. Still with a six slot Drain and a free slot not allocated. Global Haste now at 96.3% and Accuracy at 82% (5 x 9% - no wasted set bonus).

    Of course changing just about any power for Mind Probe and sloting a Kinetic combat will give you at least 1 slot, and huge flexibility in transformations.

By tuning the build somewhat it is possible to produce the following attack chain. In the example NB is Neutrino Bolt, XR is X-Ray, and CB is Cosmic Burst. The build will confirm recharge times of 1.67 sec NB, 3.67 sec XR, and 3.72 sec CB. R means recharged and available, x means used and begining recharge.

    That should make the pattern clear. Carried out for 29.9 sec it yeilds 20 shots. 10 Neutrino, and 5 each X-Ray and Cosmic Burst. Total damage should be 3,716.5 with a DPS of 124.3 if I did the arithmetic correctly. Endurance total for the 20 shot string was 104.65. I just have not used my limited compound probability skills in so long that I won't even attempt to give the probable effect of the Achilles' Heel, but it should be on and stay on after the first 6-7 shots. Would the streak breaker effect I seem to have heard about guarantee an activation on shot 6 if the first 5 all fail to triggger the proc?

    So, questions:
    Is a DPS of 124.3 good, bad, or indifferent?

    These 3 attack powers all have different -Def debuff percentages. Will they stack, constantly replace each other, or will the highest % stay on (Cosmic Burst -21%?)

    This attack chain Burns up endurance. I have 2.29/sec net gain so in 20 shot string as described above, lasting 29.9 sec, I should recover only about 68 endurance. Clearly I could not sustain this chain very long. It appears if I were to hit 3 mobs or more with Drain Psyche I could be endurance positive for 30 sec. Does Drain Psyche give endurance and health for the full 30 second duration based on the number of mobs hit on activation? Or does it vary as mobs are defeated?

    In fact this build, in whatever final form it takes, is going to be able to spam a huge number of attacks compared to anything I have played before, so is a basic endurance recovery rate of 2.99/sec (net 2.29), when the build is complete, going to be adequate? What is a good target number for this stat on a well built blaster?
    Saturday night I went on my first Imperious Task Force and we had the misfortune (read - major goof) to defeat Romulas out of line of sight of any Nictus Essence, so we had to beat the 3 Nictus Essence individually. The Healing Essence took forever. My team, all vets, had never seen or heard about this before. This is not the first time I have had it brought home that sometimes things go wrong and you just have to be able to blast effectively and continously for many minutes, so I want to be sure I can balance endurance gain and outflow and still be useful.

    Finally, in tuning the ST chain for recharge and endurance reduction, I had to sacrifice some accuracy in the frankenslots. Most of the other powers in the build are at or above 150% accuracy, the chain is at 137% - 144%. I have 7 sets that give a 9% accuracy bonus, so the Rule of 5 is jobbing me on global accuracy, but I could probably find a substitute to get a little more. Just how much accuracy is really necessary and is there an optimal number to avoid big swings from debuffs?

  22. Well, got my first 3 month Vet badge this morning, it seems like I have been playing longer.

    Ok the Achilles' Heel effect will not stack from the same caster. Does the effect constantly replace itself with a new 10 sec duration if you keep getting triggers. The build below has 3 powers with the Achilles' Heel proc in an extremely fast ST chain (Nutrino Bolt-X Ray Beam-Cosmic Burst.) The idea would be to try and keep a single target constantly debuffed.

    Irridiate will take the Fury of the Gladiator proc that has the same effect (20% chance for a 20% -Res All debuff with a 10 sec duration.) Will that effect STACK from the same caster? It is from a different Proc in a different IO family (ie: a PBAoE Melee proc vs the Achilles' Heel which is a Defense Debuff set proc.) I have Irradiate slotted for max recharge below.

    Really I would like opinions as to whether this idea has any merit at all. I can scavenge three of the 4 slots commited to procs, and return the Irradiate to a full Oblit set and put this build back at the soft cap quite easily (current 40% S/L.)

  23. I am working on my Rad/MM today and after examining many builds already posted I am wondering about working in several of the Achilles' Heel proc to make a debuff machine. This will only be the second full build I have tried to do, and I have never really tried any active procs in a build, just the health and Stamina passive procs, so I have some questions.
    • Since Proton Volley, if I take it, has 4 packets of damage would the proc check 4 times? If so, would the effects stack or just replace each other? What about procs in other DOT powers in general?
    • Is Proton Volley just a really rotten snipe, since the target gets to resist 4 times and if moving perhaps even evade? Or, if the Proc triggers only once and on the First packet, do the 2nd, 3rd and 4th packets get the -Res benefit? For that matter do the 2nd, 3rd and 4th packets get the benefit of the built in -Def? If so does that mean Proton Volley is actually Greatness?
    • Re Stacking: If I have 5-6 powers that all use Achilles' Heel, easy to do in Rad, would the effect stack if I got 2 or more hits from different powers that successfully trigger in less than the first trigger's duration. Or, once again, do they replace each other? If the effect will stack from different powers this becomes a lot stronger idea.
    • Re Duration: Is there any way to lengthen the duration of the -Res effect. Mids is showing 10.3 seconds in green as if it was modified in some way, but the Wiki says 10 seconds flat. In addition the Wiki main entry show a flat 20% debuff, but the list of special IO's page shows a variable % debuff and Mids is showing 21%. The only thing consistant is the 20% chance to trigger at all.
    So I need some basic game mechanics clarified with regard to procs in general and Achilles' Heel in particular.

    Here is the build, if it matters. Note that this is a work in progress and has had the powers and slots move willy-nilly by the dynamic option so only the totals make sense right now. If I try the Achilles' Heel I still have to decide on whether to emphazie single target powers for boss killing or the AoE. Is Irradiate or Psychic Shockwave more important/useful?

    What has the greatest impact on recovery, the Miracle proc in health or the Performance Shifter in stamina?

    If we scavenge the Kismet and Miracle (pending impact info) we can do the following. Can the 6 slot gaussians, never like that choice. Restore the 5 slot Adjusted Targeting (red level recharge and boosted Acc, Rchg and Dam.) 6 slot Frozen Armor with Red Fortune (identical Ranged Damage 2.5%) lose 1 LoTG but get back 5% Rchg in set - net gain in Global haste 2.5% to 35%. These changes also give a net boost to Global Accuracy now 57% helping offset loss of Kismet. Also get 1.5% net Damage boost to 13.5%. Downside (or is it?) lose Hibernation add Hoarfrost to mule Steadfast 3%. net gain 1 slot shown as an IO Rchg in Thunderous Blast.

  25. "The Hands of the Queen are the Hands of a Healer." To paraphrase The Lord of the Rings with apologies to J.R.R. Tolkien.

    Sable Lightning still wants to lay on hands and raise the defeated, be a team friendly teleporter, and a Hover / Fly ranged capped blaster. I think this is the best build I have come up with for the Princess to fufill her desires.

    I am very pleased with the frankenslot of Zapp as it gives better interrupt reduction, 2.25 sec better recharge (5.24 sec), better acc, and better end cost with the same 3.13% defense as compared to the 6 slot Executioners Contract ranged defense sniper set.
    Thunder Strike is retained by a creative frankenslot with 3 Eradicate, and since it takes Knockback sets, 3 Explosive Strike. This gives a combined ranged defense total of 3.44%. The overall damage is 10% low but still Much higher than a Mako's Bite slotted Air Superority, or horror, a slotted Brawl.
    I slotted Aid self with 2 interrupt reduction and 2 heal / recharge IO. That is easily changed to three heal / recharge and one interrupt if the .5 sec interrupt window is not needed, and .66 sec is good enough.
    I finally went with Cold Mastery since it provided some cheap Smash/Lethal defense in tight areas, and is in theme for the Storm Child. I am still open to any Epic set.
    Hopefully there is little to fix but as always, I seek to learn.
