Claws/SR Brute Help

Ok, there are NO guides for Claws on a Brute and only 1 guide from I-11 times for a SS/SR Brute.
So I would like some guidance and or sample builds for my three position soft-capped Claws/SR Brute Jakkk Clawzzz.
I am currently leveling a Claws/SR scrapper too. (Lizzz and Jakkk are each others arch enemies of course.)
So I have a basic idea what will work from the Scrapper forum guides and threads. But I am sure there are nuances as regards a Brute that I have no idea about, as this is my first real brute.
Any assist will be muchly appreciated.

Hey Jak,
For the most part, the build is generally the same between Scrappers and Brutes: Aim for the softcap to Melee, Ranged, and AoE while maintaining as much recharge as possible.


Personally, I try to grab Aid self as well, as I find that the RNG can be annoying at times.

I'm not sure what your budget is, so I'm just going to throw together a mid-ranged build. Let me know if you want it more/less expensive.

Alternatively, you can grab Tough/Weave to slot Steadfast 3%, giving you more room to play around with recharge slotting.
Another route is to grab more Melee defense elsewhere and slot the Achilles Heel Proc in Slash for added DPS.

I already see a big change I will want to make as I did not notice the Focused Accuracy power was available in the Patron.

Well. That's an..... Interesting build.

You did manage to hit the softcap, but you went about it in a very unorthodox way.

What are you going for in this build (besides the softcap)? You are throwing money at it with LotG +Rech's and HOs, but you didn't really get anywhere. While the build isn't wrong, I would definitely change it. You're spending WAY too much inf, while getting nothing in return. Get rid of the HOs, to start.

If you are going for massive Rech, which the LotGs seem to imply, you would need to pick up hasten.

And why the Gift of the Ancients? Hmm, I would just use the build that I posted, but if your heart is set on something with these powers, I understand.

As far as character builds are concerned, brutes have higher resistance and hp caps than scrappers. However, super reflexes is defense-based and doesn't have hitpoint buffs. Therefore, the caps are not much of a concern. Brutes don't have access to physical perfection, and super reflexes doesn't have any recovery powers, you need to be more careful with endurance management if your build has a lot of toggles.

You didn't say much about how you want Lizzz and Jakkk to be different. Villains have access to patron powers which contain quite a few attacks and a pet. I don't know if you're interested in a pet or not, but it is one thing you can make a difference.

I believe the decision needs to be made by the OP. In my opinion, super reflexes doesn't have long recharging powers like dull pain, nor does it rely on recharge for survival. Most powers are either toggles or passives. Therefore, +recharge is not really that essential, but to make the attack chains more smooth for higher dps. I think it's nice to have some recharge bonus, but I won't be too crazy about it for super reflexes.

I believe it's for the recovery bonus. In particular, the OP seems to want focused accuracy, so higher recovery may be necessary.

For Jak's build, I agree with Alpha that the HO is not necessary. Assuming that you want focused accuracy, I made a build below with mace mastery. It's just a suggestion. I think you've to decide yourself what travel power you want (or maybe skip it), the patron powers, and whether you want aid self or not.

I believe the decision needs to be made by the OP. In my opinion, super reflexes doesn't have long recharging powers like dull pain, nor does it rely on recharge for survival. Most powers are either toggles or passives. Therefore, +recharge is not really that essential, but to make the attack chains more smooth for higher dps. I think it's nice to have some recharge bonus, but I won't be too crazy about it for super reflexes.
I disagree. While it's true that Claws/ has fast-recharging powers in its arsenal, the optimal chain does need recharge and, in order to better use the recharge set bonuses, Hasten should be picked up (I would argue that it should be picked up on any build going for +recharge.)

The OP did not know about FA in his build, and now wants to use it as a set mule. So I'm assuming that he was trying to get recovery bonuses solely for his /SR powers, which don't need much attention when paired with a low-end set like Claws. I just want to clarify that piece for him so he doesn't aim for unnecessary set bonuses.

You are right, though. In order for a build to be made, the OP needs to decide on what powers he wants (Eg. Travel Power, no Travel Power. Aid Self, Tough/Weave), especially since he seems to be an RPer.

I'll post my build when I get home. For mine I went with a build that hits soft cap, can take down A/V's, and still has some AoE capability. I also do not care much about patron powers, so ymmv.
