Whenever I run a speed SF/TF, I state the following:
The format for this is speed which means that we go straight to the objectives.
This will take about XX mins, so if you can't stay that long, please leave now to make room for your replacement, because I can't invite after I start it.
(For a lowbie run) We will malefactor down to lv XX.
The first mission will spawn in < neighborhood >. Please head there.
Typical questions:
* I haven't done this before.
> NP, please listen to instructions and load up on luck and greens. You can also keep wakies in email. If you would like more information about the SF see: < show paragonwiki link >
* I don't have stealth.
> TP to the boss will be provided, so just wait for TP.
* But I need the XP!
> Missions and farms are better for earning XP since you can adjust the difficulty and reset the mission if it doesn't work out. In a SF, missions can't be reset once it is received.
> If this is a lowbie SF and there are 50s in the group, I point them out and say, "lvl 50s don't earn XP". Altho shards can drop for 50s in low level SFs, the kill rate and therefore drop rate is higher in lvl 50 TFs since 50s have access to all their powers. Farming shards in lowbie SFs isn't time efficient.
There's also a study which indicates that people's concentration starts to go down after 1 hour of focus. This means that people will make more mistakes, get cranky, etc.
Unless I know that the members are experienced speedsters, I usually give instructions because I've met a bunch of vets who are rusty with speeding lowbie SFs. -
Quote:Yes, if his intention was to stop leading after the mish was over. But then again, not many people like to lead, so you are stuck with people doing their best trying to lead a team.Do you feel the leader should have explained the situation when sending me a /tell? devoted my play time to a team that disbanded after 15 minutes.
Quote:And would you have quit the team knowing the scenario once you got inside the mission?
I say let it go and find another team or lead one. Also, the fact that nobody wanted to stay together seems to indicate that the team make up may be subpar, and the members wanted to get away. In that case, it would be better off joining another team. -
Don't have to be +1, but it would be nice.
Mr. E-man has run MoBSF before and has some notes. I was on my brute for one of his successful runs.
This is a long SF, so make sure to be comfy and have snacks/refreshments handy to keep your attention up. I also recommend keeping some extra insp in email such as luck, bfs and heals.
If you have a base with an empowerment station, buff up. It lasts 1 hr.
It would also be less of a pain if you had a MM or defender on the team to prevent Reichs from phasing. It is possible to out-debuff/out-damage his regen, but why make it more difficult?
Good Luck! -
Quote:I teamed with someone who had 80% def. His build had PvP IOs in it. With all that def, it didn't help much during Apex when he faceplanted during the Battle Maiden mission.AT sets were IIRC all unique so one set in one power, or split. Hardly going to be over powering. ...
I'm a little more concerned (but still not much) by PVP IOs, but in PVE they are hardly a significant boost over normal IO sets in most cases.
When I was on trial account a year ago, I maxed to lvl 15, and had a limit of 50,000 inf. So basically, I had very few powers and very little money, but that didn't stop me from making the decision to subscribe. Having the most uber stuff didn't convince me to play the game. I decided based on teaming and general game play. -
Thanks, I put one in. The cards were still in an unopened box, so I am crossing my fingers.

This post is for those who use time cards to add game time.
I was told that any NCsoft time card can be applied to any NCsoft game regardless of the game that is printed on the card. I just found out that Auto Assault time cards are rejected with the message: This serial code has expired.
I have used Auto Assault time cards in the past up to i20 and these were accepted. My only guess is that the update to Freedom has invalidated the older cards.
The cards don't have an expiration date printed on them, so it doesn't make sense that it wouldn't be accepted.
So just a heads up for those who use time cards from older games like Auto Assault, Tabula Rasa, and maybe older boxes for City of Villains. There may be a chance that these codes won't be recognized. -
Quote:I like this and will support it. To those of you who agree, maybe we can draft a script to suggest moving non-help chat to a global channel? Then we can use the script to remind people. I'll give a shot at it, but feel free to make suggestions. With badge related questions I've been answering them and inviting people to the BMT of Exalted and Exalted Events channels
<toon name>, to make it easier for helpers to answer questions, please limit chat to asking for game help. For missions/task forces, please join BMT-Exalted. For general chat, please join EXALTED-UNITED. Thank you for your cooperation. -
I remember hearing about the ban hammer falling on a bunch of folks who abused AE for PL. I suggest being careful about asking for PL. You and your farmer might get 'tagged' for possible abuse. 'Possible' as in someone actively manning the ban hammer. If nobody's at the helm, then my warning can be ignored.
Quote:It seems that the OP had leveled AT #1, deleted it, leveled AT #2 and decided AT #1 was the one he liked. So I assume he doesn't want to go through leveling AT #1. However, he is willing to compensate someone to do his leveling for him. At least, he is not begging for it.What's the point? If you don't want to level the character (read: play the game), then why build the character? -
I suggest looking at other options. Here's the tests for the GMA HD.
I have an acer aspire 5253-bz661 with AMD Radeon HD 6310. It's totally laggy in raids, but I was able to play AE ambush farms with it. My responsiveness was slower tho, and I had to click greens at 30% hp instead of 20% hp. It's a hit or miss for trials since sometimes I couldn't even load into the map. Anyway, just wanted to show another example of a low-end GPU.
Also, I suggest avoiding posting actual link code ie, http://etc.etc.com. A mod told me not to do that and use the 'Insert Link' feature. -
Quote:Going f2p doesn't necessarily mean that the game is in trouble. A lot of games are going f2p, so the company is just adapting to the business trends to stay ahead of the competition. CoH is profitable, so why not make more? While it's true that they'll make additional revenue from people who pick up the game and subscribe or buy points, and they'll make additional revenue from people who would have quit but instead continue playing as premium... the real reason is always to make more money from subscribers.
Also, quite a few people are lazy and don't want to do math, so the f2p model tries to capitalize on that. It's like eating M&Ms. One plans to only eat a few, but before one knows it, half the bag is gone. It can be similar to f2p players, spend a bit here, and a bit there but not really keeping track of total purchases. One example is facebook games. These games are free, but have a cash shop to help the player get ahead. There are lazy folks who will buy stuff just to get to a certain level in the game.
So even if 1000 f2ps spend just $5 a month, that's equivalent to 330 vips at $15/mo.
The f2ps that do realize that they are spending more than a sub will eventually convert to vip. -
Quote:First off, be wary of blind invites. It's probably someone who is new at leading. I have gotten a blind invite from someone who can't speak english. As for the +2 mission, after the 1st wipe, if nobody else suggests it, try to suggest lowering the diff. Even at -1x8, the team has a higher xp/second rate than at +2x5 because a lot of mobs are dropping fast. I run my teams at +0 until I get more powers which is around 35ish or so. Then maybe, after a mish or 2, I will up the diff based on the team.pulled up somebody's +2 mission... all reds and purples, skulls... large packs, most with two bone daddies in them. Team wipe twice. Third time, I charge a pack
After 2nd wipe, if the team insists on doing +2, have a ranged toon pull around the corner and pick them off 2 or 3 at a time.
On the 3rd wipe, maybe you can do a graceful quit and make some lame excuse like, 'sorry to go, but I have to help my (imaginary) friend.' -
Be wary of TFs that advertise as 'speed'. There is a chance that the leader will check your info to see if you can keep up. I have seen players not even invited or kicked off because they didn't have enough set bonuses. 'Master of' runs may be especially picky too.
Before even doing the trials, unlock Alpha so any incarnate xp you earn will apply to Judgement, Lore, etc instead of the Alpha slot.
Expect to repeat trials to collect incarnate parts. The trials are fairly short so you can do 1 or 2 based on your time.
Like other people said, IOs and trials are optional. But if you want the bonuses and incarnate powers, you gotta put in some effort. -
Hi All, I'm fairly new to CoX and am enjoying it a lot. There are a few things about teaming that I noticed.
1) When things go wrong, some folks just quit. They say, sorry, I gtg. Then when I look in the search a minute or two later, they're teamed again.
2) Quitting in the middle of the mission to do something else. In this case, I was on a team for regular missions with 3 toons who were in coalition with my SG. Someone in the coalie chat announces 'Free farm, any lvl'. All 3 quit and then in coalie chat, they tell the farmer to invite them.
3) Quitting in a Task Force. So a task force, like an ITF, runs over 40 mins and this toon quits. I tell my SG mates and they told me that particular player likes to speed and only plays up to a certain time. Anyway, we finish the TF 10 mins later. Wouldn't have hurt for him to stay would it?
